The Deadly Blow

The Deadly Blow

“And I saw one of his heads, as it were, wounded to death, and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the Beast.” Revelation 13:3

The outward interpretation is quite interesting here and deserves some investigation.

The head that was wounded was on the seventh and final head. It was wounded by a great historical event that seemed to be a deathblow to the power and authority of kings. What was this historical event and how was the deadly wound healed?

Could it have been the birth of Jesus who came to teach us the truth and the rise of Christianity throughout the world? The wound healed when the “church” was won over by the power of the Beast and forgot its “first love.”

This is a good observation and the common one held by the churches, but it has several flaws. The authority of the Beast crucified Jesus and after the creation of the Christian Church the power and authority of the Beast increased, not decreased. On the other hand, the creation of the US constitution through the rebellion against the King did deal a deadly wound.

For many thousands of years the Beast through kings, religious leaders and other authorities exercised an unjust authority over the human race. But finally, a group of people rebelled against the kingdoms and established a government by the people, of the people, and for the people. It is interesting to note that the Constitution and Bill of Rights gave power to the people by limiting the power of government. Over and over, they say what “Congress shall not” do. Thus, the Beast was wounded because it was finally told by the people who created it that there were a lot of things it could no longer do.

It could no longer do unreasonable search and seizures. It could no longer use cruel and unusual punishments. Laws shall be made by elected officials and not the king. The Beast cannot make a person testify against himself. Eventually, even slavery was outlawed. Now because of this Constitution even the Beast was wounded in Britain. Eventually the power of Royalty there was taken away and one by one the nations of the world copied the principles of the Constitution and attempted to emulate a free government. At the time of this writing there are 122 democracies on the earth, a great credit to a small start by the Founding Fathers.

So now everything is great – right?

Not quite. The Beast went right to work seeking desperately to survive. The tendency of people to follow an unearned authority was still present and he worked with that weakness in humanity.

First, he sought to control the elected officials by making sure those who run for office are people who love power and authority. Then when they are elected, they seek to control through thoughtforms, special interests, self-interest, ego, corruption and money.

Since complete control of elected officials is not possible the Beast sought to add to our system as many appointed officials as possible who would run the real government business. An appointed official then becomes like a little king over his dominion who does not have to answer to the people. Thus, we have little unelected kings controlling all departments of government such as tax collecting, the department of Energy, Department of Education, Department of Agriculture, Transportation and so on. Over 90% of government in our lives is carried out under strong authority of unelected mini kings. Day after day, week after week, year after year the power of these kingdoms within what seems to be a free society is increased.

In the old days of the Beast the populace was aware that they were ruled by the king, but what makes this age different is that we think we are in this great democracy when the Beast has almost as much control over our lives as did the emperor in ancient Rome.

The deadly wound has been healed and the people wonder after the power of authority as it reaches its tentacles all over the world and into every life so we are all effected.

A book could be written on the devices the Beast uses to keep his control. We shall see how the power of the Beast reaches down to each one of us every day of our lives and how we must see through the illusion.

The Tricky Beast

“And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the Beast: and they worshipped the Beast, saying, Who is like unto the Beast? who is able to make war with him? And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. If any man have an ear, let him hear. He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.” Revelation 13:4-10

The word “worship” comes from the Greek PROSKUNEO. Literally translated in today’s language it means “to kiss ass.” In more sensitive language it would mean to “fawn over someone” that you see as your boss or master. So do you know anyone who “worships,” in today’s world, that is, worships someone other than God? I think you will agree that we live in a world where almost everyone is sucking up to someone else. This worshipping the Beast today is probably even more prevalent than it was in ancient Rome.

The statement “Who is able to make war with him” is like the statement “you can’t fight City Hall.” There is a similarity, but there are many City Halls.

Two of the “City Halls” in the United States are the Democratic and Republican Parties themselves. Often times we elect someone who seems to be very sincere about doing a good job and voting their conscience. Then after the guy spends a little time in Washington he seems to change and his vote becomes very predictable along party lines. Why? Because fighting his party leadership is like fighting City Hall. The party leader says, “this is an important issue for the party so if you’re a team player you’ll vote with us.” The Congressman soon learns that if he doesn’t play ball then many problems will develop and leadership opportunities just dry up. In addition, he will be shunned by other faithful party members. Then there are other City Halls like pressure groups, polls, and the press. A person just about has to be a saint to be free from the Beast in politics today.

How about medicine? Where is City Hall or the Beast there? We once had a family doctor who seemed like an intelligent sincere fellow and dabbled a little in natural medicine but was no fanatic by any means, for overall he was pretty much establishment. Then one day he criticized another doctor’s diagnosis. This other doctor happened to have a lot of authority in the hospital and trumped up a charge against our doctor and had him barred from the hospital. Since this was the only hospital in town this was a great inconvenience for our doctor and he was barely able to eke out a living. Nevertheless, we continued to go to him because he was the best doctor in town.

Then I met a guy several years ago when I was in real estate. He had a gold mine he wanted me to sell. He looked like an old prospector and had quite a story to tell. He said he had a cure for cancer. I won’t relate it all here, but the guy spent quite a bit of time in jail because the Beast, or City Hall of medicine would not let him cure people of cancer, even though his cure, right or wrong, never hurt anyone.

Perhaps you work for a large company and you have an idea of how to streamline things to make work easier for the average employee. Maybe after talking to several people about it you find subtle messages delivered to you that you need to “cool it” or you won’t get that promotion. Maybe you fear you may even get fired.

For example, in the nineties Tom Hanks was reported as saying that he regretted donating to the Clinton Defense fund and would not do it again. Then several days later he said he was misquoted and may even buy the president a house when he gets out of office. Did somebody get to Hanks? Did someone make it clear to him that everybody who is anybody in Hollywood supported Clinton and he’d better play ball or his work will dry up? Did Hanks discover a City Hall he did not want to fight?

In politics there are two politicians I can mentioned who did not conform to the Beast within their own parties.

The first is George Hansen a Republican of Idaho. He sought to reform the IRS, had a plan to make representatives accountable for their votes and did all in his power to preserve the Constitution which gave the wound to the Beast.

The Beast retaliated and trumped up a charge of bank fraud and put him in jail for four years. He was later released because the charge was vacated. The powers that be attempted to destroy him physically through torture and poisoning. When he got out he was close to death, missing all his toenails and suffering from sores on his body and missing most of his teeth through lack of dental attention.

He would like to take the Beast one more time but it now takes most of his energy to just stay alive.

Then on the Democratic side we have James Traficant from Ohio. When he was in Congress, we loved to hear him make fun of the stupidity of some Beastly schemes by stating “Beam me up Scotty.” Every time he said this most people saw the craziness of the government he was criticizing.

He stepped on many toes even going so far to charge treason within the justice department. The Beast went after him and placed him in prison for eight years for doing no more wrong than many representatives who are free. As of this writing he is still incarcerated and little is known of his condition. Hopefully he is treated better than was George Hansen.

To go up against established unjust authority takes great courage for the Beast will use this authority to strike back with as much force as possible.

Victory belongs to the most persevering. Napoleon Bonaparte (1769 – 1821)

The Power of the Beast

The Power of the Beast

John tells us the beast: “…was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion:” Revelation 13:2

Let’s first look at these three beasts or animals – the leopard, the lion and the bear – plus the dragon who gives them power. What do they have in common? The one thing they have in common is they are all deadly and dangerous and capable of tearing the average man to shreds. Their very presence can put stark terror into the hearts of men. We know about the three beasts and have heard mythological stories about the dragon, but one thing is sure. If the leopard, the lion or the bear is sitting at a peaceful rest in our presence, we want to be quiet as a mouse and not do anything disturb them.

The beast as a whole had the appearance of a leopard. All leopards are female. The male of the species is called the panther. The leopard hunts in the dark and strikes with greater power, ferocity and speed than any other cat. The prey is often asleep with eyes closed when attacked. The symbology of the leopard being female is that the female is more polarized on the emotional side than the male and the beast uses the emotions rather than the mind for its control through implementation of fear. The Beast hunts out those who defy its authority and seeks them out in the dark when they are sleeping and not expecting attack. Just like the “leopard cannot change its spots,” neither can the beast. It must always remain true to character.

Next, we are told the Beast had “the mouth of a lion.” The lion is called the King of Beasts. Therefore the mouth of a lion would be the mouth of a king. In other words, the beast speaks through those who have established themselves with a kingly authority over their fellowmen. This could be an actual king or queen, a revered political leader, a government appointee, a leader of some organization, a religious leader, a cult leader or even your autocratic boss.

The lion is not an animal you want to get angry. When it lets out a roar it strikes terror in the hearts of all that hear. The early Christians who did not accept the authority of the Beast were fed to lions and devoured by them. However, the Prophet Daniel was thrown to the lions and by faith in God he was delivered from their power.

The Beast had the feet of a bear. In other words, the beast will crush under foot anyone who gets in its way. When the bear comes walking in your direction the smartest thing to do is to get out of its way. Or we can also say that when the beast of unjust authority comes in our direction the smart thing would seem to be to not challenge it, but just get out of its way.

“.. and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat (throne), and great authority.” Revelation 13:2

In a previous verse (Rev 12:3) we are told that the Dragon itself has seven heads so we see that the Beast is like an image we have made to resemble the Dragon. In the days of Moses the blasphemy against God was to make an image (like the golden calf) that represented God. This is what the Dragon does. He makes images or illusions that are substitutes for God.

The Dragon itself has no power over man, but only can establish power through illusion. So he waits and waits until man makes an image of him and piece by piece throughout history he endows the image with “power, a throne and great authority.” Finally after about 6000 years from the last Adam the image of the Dragon is nearly complete.

We humans, by the desire of our egos, (as John mentioned) have created a monster out of nothing real that pleases a great negative thought form, which is his only form of incarnation on this planet. We learned earlier that the Dragon is a serpent and is red. This gives us a clue as to additional insights. First, red is the color of blood and the Bible says that the “blood is life.” (see Leviticus 17:11 and Deuteronomy 12:23)

Interestingly the serpent is also a symbol of life. The ancients teach of a fiery Serpent at the base of the spine which is the foundation fire of all life in our body. This is also called the Kundalini energy. Thus the Serpent seems to grant the beast power over life and death and gives the beast its tremendous illusionary authority over mankind. If the beast has power to take your life you would want to keep on its good side.

Another interesting thing about the serpent fire at the base of the spine is that when soul contact comes the serpent uncoils, it virtually disappears and a tremendous energy lifts up through all your centers uniting heaven and earth within you. In other words when the reality behind the serpent is revealed, your god-like powers are restored and the illusion of the Dragon is no more.

The dispelling of the illusion of the Dragon will proceed slowly at first on an individual basis, but the time will come when the Kundalini of the whole planet will be raised and the beast will be destroyed as if by fire. There is also great symbology in the story of the Serpent who led Adam and Eve away from the tree of Life by deception. As soon as we see through the deception fostered by the beast the Tree of Life again becomes available to us. We will discover that we left the Tree of Life – the Tree of Life did not leave us.

You are going to let the fear of poverty govern your life and your reward will be that you will eat, but you will not live. George Bernard Shaw (1856 – 1950)

Who or What is the Beast?

Who or What is the Beast?

Continuing with Revelation we read: “And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.” Revelation 13:2

Why was it that the dragon was able to give the beast his “great authority?” The answer is that when the dragon was in heaven, or in the higher consciousness of the disciple or the spiritual group, he was seen as God and there is no greater authority than God. When the dragon was in control the spiritual group went with what felt to the emotional self as following God. That which seemed to be God had ultimate authority. The dragon controlled them by using feelings by manipulating their conscience through the use of guilt and fear.

When the dragon was thrown out the seekers were “saved” and released of their guilt. They could no longer be controlled through fear so the dragon created an image to himself out of the sea of emotionally based people who remained. The beast was given great authority because the dragon understood how to control people through substituting the inner God for the outer and then using the outer God to control through fear and guilt.

The Beast thus has great authority because he is perceived by the emotionally based masses as the voice of God and is not to be questioned. The deceived masses tremble with fear at the thought of challenging the Beast just as one would in challenging the voice of God.

The Beast therefore is given “great authority,” rules by great authority and manipulates the people through fear and guilt by the use of that great authority.

The key to understanding the Beast is the realization that he represents a false authority which has been gained by substituting an outward voice for the inner voice of God.

The beast is unearned authority, unworthy of our trust, yet the masses give it their trust because they think it speaks with the voice of God.

Most of the sects see the beast as a great world antichrist dictator that will arrive on the scene just before the end of the world. They have been expecting him to show up any moment for many years. Some thought it was Hitler, but he wasn’t quite awesome enough.

If they had read the writings of John they would have not been so deceived.

“And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.” 1 John 4:3

To fully understand this scripture one must realize that if early Christians acknowledged Jesus as their authority rather than Caesar they were put to death. John here was acknowledging that this terrible misuse of authority made it clear that the antichrist or beast was already in the world.

If the antichrist or beast was already in the world 2,000 years ago then why are the religious still waiting for him to surface? Answer: The beast itself deceives them. They have followed authorities who have misled them instead of looking at the source.

Notice again how the authority of Jesus is described:

“And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.” Matthew 7:28-29

The scribes were the ones the people looked to as authorities in scripture, yet there was something about the authority of Jesus that was different. What was it? Here Jesus spoke boldly against the negative use of authority.

“But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.” Matthew 23:13

This is interesting wording: “For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.”

Why would it say this when the scribes were considered the greatest authorities on the scriptures? The reason was that their only source of authority was their black and white memorization of the scriptures. They knew the words but did not know what they meant. They could never stand up and teach and just say the words of the Spirit pouring through their hearts. They could not teach without quoting some other authority.

Jesus, on the other hand, taught new things that were not quotes from any known book and this seemed to demonstrate a new kind of authority they had never seen before, an authority bestowed from within and accepted from within by others. They were so astounded by this authority that did not depend on degrees and books that it is written:

“And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?” Matthew 21:23

Jesus had an authority that he could demonstrate and no one remembered seeing such a thing in the spiritual realm before. Jesus was the one man in the kingdom who did not have the mark of the beast.

Go to any church or even a new age movement and try and teach them something contrary to that which their authorities tell them and see what happens. You will often encounter fear and very high resistance.

Now remember an authoritative tool of the beast does not have to be a human. It can be a book, crystal or unseen alien, even the Bible itself. If you really want to sense the power of the beast attend any church with an authoritative dogma or leader and just ask a question in Sunday School that forces their minds in the opposite direction of their beastly authority.

New age groups seem to be a little more polite but they also get extremely uncomfortable when you ask the wrong questions.

“..the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.” Revelation 13:2

Almost all powers and energies are dual. What are the positive and negative use of authority?

The positive use of authority would allow free will. The people could make their own decisions (freedom). The negative use of authority would not allow free will. Those in authority would want (demand?) to make all decisions for the people (control). Actually, negative authority often takes a person away from his power of decision by deception rather than force, but sometimes force is involved.

Seems to me that the worst kind of self-deception and negative use of authority would be to give away the authority from Self to something outside, be it beast or whatever.

The keyword of the beast is “authority.”

In addition to authority verse two says that he has “power” and a “seat” (or throne). Now you can have a seat with no power or authority and you can have power with no authority or seat, but if you have authority, you can always obtain power and a seat where you have something to rule over. When people recognize you have authority, they will immediately give you power, but if they only see you have power only, they will sometimes run away to avoid wrong use of that power.

Therefore, when the dragon gives the beast authority, he automatically gives power and a seat (or some type of position from which to command). The Beast itself is a giant world thoughtform that is a vehicle for the dragon to establish his authority. The dragon gives authority to the beast but he owns the beast so he has lost nothing and still has control.

The beast will often use the truth to increase his authority and the deception to accept his authority comes from our own self-deception and has little to do with the beast itself. “To thine own self be true” is not something one can do until one reaches a certain degree of evolution. Therefore, the beast does not even have to lie.

Take the former Soviet Union. Communism there was established on a true principle of equality, sharing and equal rights. Why didn’t it work? Because the beast demanded unquestioned authority and this turned good into evil. It is good that we help the poor but if we submit to an authority that takes all of our money and gives it to the poor then we will be poor too. Unquestioned or unproven authority is always a destroying energy.

Earned Authority

In the true student-teacher relationship authority is only recognized because it is earned. Let’s say you want to learn Spanish and two teachers surface who say they can teach you. They both seem equally convincing, but the truth is that one of them knows the language well and the other one does not. If you accept either as an authority just because one tells you to, then you have a 50-50 chance of getting a bad teacher.

What do you do? You test the teacher. Have him actually speak some Spanish. Give him several paragraphs from English and see if he can translate and then check out the translation for correctness. Finally, you will establish in your mind that one of them can truly teach you. Once you have tested your teacher then you do not have to check up on him in every little detail; but when you have learned the basics and want to go to advanced Spanish, you do need to check again to see if he has anything more to teach you or if you need to move on to another teacher. Or become a teacher yourself.

Thus, positive authority is that which has been earned. Such an authority is ready willing and able to prove his or her credibility at any given moment. He does not fear a challenge because he is secure in his ability.

Unfortunately, there are not very many positive authorities in the world today. Even those who have studied, apprenticed and worked hard at their skill are often the worst authorities to rely on. Take medical doctors. They are often no healthier than their patients.

We go to psychologists for authority on mental health and happiness, yet as a profession they have among the highest suicide rate in the world.

We have authorities giving us guidance when they have not discovered the key themselves. The average person on the street obviously has a greater concept of what makes life worthwhile.

We send criminals to the prison authorities who head a “correctional” facility yet when he is released the authorities have turned him in to a more dangerous person than he was when he began his sentence. We hire politicians as authorities in making laws and spending money and they make laws that the average person realizes make no sense and they spend our money with the intelligence of a ten-year-old kid who just found a hundred bucks.

We set up ministers, priests and evangelists as authorities in scripture and over our spiritual life, yet many of them do not even believe the scriptures and many little old ladies have a better knowledge than they do. Then there are many ministers who have never had a true spiritual experience or have never found God yet are telling others with the voice of authority how to lead the spiritual life.

We could go on and on. How many lawyers do not have a true sense of the just use of the legal system? How many bosses got their position because of who they know, not because of what they know? Such people often hurt the company and cause much grief to subordinates.

Many of these people have worked for a lot of years to earn their position of authority, but they lack just one thing. They have never demonstrated in the real world that which they claim to be able to teach or know.

Just because a doctor has memorized massive amounts of data and procedures does not mean he can heal. Just because a person goes to law school does not give him a just appreciation of the law. Just because a minister gets a church does not mean he is a spiritual man.

Even though these people are often no better authorities in their profession than the common sense of the average person, most of them have at least gone through some learning process. There are still other authorities that have even bypassed normal learning channels.

Thus, the false authority is he who cannot demonstrate the truth of that which he claims to teach or practice. One of the main causes of false authority is the use of the power of appointment by another false authority.

The power of election (decision) is given to us so we can find our true authorities and place them where they can be useful dispensers of their wisdom and talents. Our elected officials are not perfect but they are much better than appointed ones.

So let us apply this to the beast. The beast is a thoughtform under the control of the “dragon.” This thoughtform covers the entire planet. He causes all to “receive the mark” (verse 16). This is why Satan (the adversary of light) is called “the god of this world” in the scriptures. Over 95% of the religious world think the beast has not yet surfaced yet ironically, they are under the control of the false authorities (beast) themselves.

Goodness is the only investment that never fails. Henry David Thoreau

Evil and Ignorance

Evil and Ignorance

Question: Can evil exist without ignorance?

This is a very concise and though provoking question.

First, we must define what evil is. Admittedly there are several definitions floating about and the answer may vary according to the one you pick.

The one we use in this group (and hinted at by DK) gives the core principle behind good and evil. It is this:

Good is that which takes us forward in our spiritual evolution and evil is that which takes us backward.

Therefore, for evil to exist without ignorance a person would have to deliberately choose that which takes him on the path of retrogression. About the only way such a choice could be made was if the person were insane, but if he were insane, he is probably not aware that he is choosing something truly harmful to himself and is still suffering from ignorance.

Except for insane people, each person chooses that which he believes to be in his overall best interest. He may be wrong, and humans often are, but he sees his choice as his best one.

But how about people who take drugs or do other harmful things? Surely they know they are making a bad choice.

Not necessarily. It is true that most realize that taking drugs is destructive, but they would not take them if they did not have their benefits. In the mind of the addict the high they get from the drugs is more of a benefit than the negative effects are a detriment. Because the positive outweighs the negative in their mind they take the drugs, in other words, they are still acting in their perceived best interest.

In reality they are following a path of retrogression or evil because of ignorance. When their ignorance is replaced with sure knowledge and understanding they will make the right decision, one that is really in their best interest.

In conclusion I would say this. No. Evil cannot exist without ignorance. When ignorance is removed the vision of what is in our best interest, as far as progression goes, becomes clear and the right decision is made. In other words, when ignorance is left behind the path of progress is always chosen. This reveals to us the importance of light and knowledge.

A reader pointed out that on a mental level drug addicts are not ignorant of the evils of dru addiction.

The subject wasn’t about being ignorant of evil.

The question was:

Can evil exist without ignorance?

To this my answer was no.

The drug addict doesn’t have death as a value but pleasure. He is not ignorant of the consequences of taking drugs but is aware of the pleasure he will get as weighed against many of the consequences. When faced with taking the drug he takes it because it seems to him that the pleasure he gets is worth the risk.

He is making a faulty judgment out of ignorance. He is not seeing the whole picture but just looking into the immediate future. If he understood the full consequences he would quit.

Both people who are mentally and emotionally polarized have been addicted to drugs and quit when the big picture became clear to them. A clear understanding of danger can bring forth the resources to rouse the self-control to handle the situation.

My point still boils down to the simple principle of pain and pleasure, ignorance and full awareness.

When the addict started with drugs he was usually just seeking pleasure. If this evolves into seeking escape, what does he want to escape? Pain. To go away from pain takes one toward pleasure. Pain and pleasure or the dualities always enter in.

As I said before the addict has a knowledge of many of the bad consequences of his behavior and for short periods, he may say to himself that he is not going to take the drugs again, but then the overwhelming desire returns and he puts this reasoning out of his mind. Because the consequences are placed outside of his consciousness, he then takes the drugs in a moment of ignorance.

When the addict overcomes, he forces himself to not be ignorant but keeps the awareness fresh in his mind of the pros and cons of his behavior. When he does this he will have power to overcome.

I am free of all prejudice. I hate everyone equally. W. C. Fields

Introducing the Beast

Introducing the Beast

Now we arrive at perhaps the most mysterious and controversial chapters of all scripture. Here we learn about the beast.

We have discussed this chapter before, giving the exterior interpretation. Now we shall synthesize the inner and the outer and perhaps shed some more light.

“And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.” Revelation 13:1

The dragon of desire has been cast out of the higher realms of consciousness by the followers of Christ. Eventually they control this dragon, but he rests not. The energy of desire moves to other lesser lives seeking expression.

John stands “upon the sea.” The sea here stands for the multitudes of people who are grounded in the emotional/astral world or consciousness. They are fertile soil in which the dragon can take root. Out of the masses comes an image that is very similar to the dragon. The dragon had “seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.” (Rev 12:3) And now the beast has “seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.”

The beast is very similar in form to the dragon but with subtle differences. They both have seven heads and ten horns, but the crowns are different. The dragon has the seven crowns upon his heads, but the beast has ten crowns upon his ten horns. The dragon has crowns upon his heads whereas the beast has the name of blasphemy upon his heads.

The beast is almost created after the image of the dragon but not quite. Let’s look deeper.

The seven heads stand again for the seven chakras or centers of consciousness. When the dragon is in heaven, or the seat of decision, it has subtle control and influence over them all. The seven crowns symbolize the spiritual authority of the dragon. By using guilt in connection with the conscience, the dragon is able to direct all seven levels of consciousness to accept it as the outer voice of God – the king of Heaven.

The ten horns represent the ten petals of the solar plexus center which governs the emotions. Each of these ten petals represent a dual emotional vibration. These are:

  1. Romantic and Selfish Love/Hate
  2. Trained Conscience/Guilt
  3. Self-Esteem/Ego-Pride
  4. Happiness/Sorrow

The dragon had the crowns upon his heads. Outwardly this symbolizes his influence of authoritative religion over the seven divisions of civilization in humanity’s past. Inwardly, it tells us a religious-like authority governs all levels of consciousness in the emotionally grounded individual.

The beast had ten crowns upon the ten horns. Outwardly, this tells us that a religious-like authority governs the ten political divisions of the earth. Inwardly, this same religious authority governs the ten energies of the solar pleus center of the average person just as a king sits in rule over his subjects.

The dragon, which started in heaven with crowns of reverential authority on his heads was thrown to the earth. There he morphed into he beast which no longer showed reverence to the higher consciousness of heaven and now wore the names of blasphemy.

On his heads then are the names of blasphemy. The King James says “name” but most modern versions correctly translate this as “names.” What are the blasphemous names on the heads of the beast?

The emperor of Rome was proudly called Caesar Augustus, with Augustus meaning Lord indicating that Caesar is a god. We all know many Christians were fed to the lions and crucified. Did you know that much of it had to do with the refusal to accept this and other names chosen by the Roman emperors?

The Pope has on his hat (which looks like a crown) the name “VICARIVS FILII DEI.” This Latin translates to “in the place of the Son of God” and the Roman numerals of the name add up to 666. This is just a serendipitous addition and we don’t mean to single out the Pope as the Beast as many Protestants do, but most of the religious and political leaders share in the crowns and names of blasphemy by which they love to be recognized.

These names are not negative names like Antichrist, Satan, devil and so on. The names of the beast are adored by the world.

Here are some of them

Why are these blasphemous names?

*** His/Her Royal Highness

*** Holy Father (Pope)

*** His Holiness (Pope)

*** His Eminence

*** His Grace

*** Imperial Majesty

*** Serene Majesty

*** Lordship

*** Most Reverend

*** Most Worshipful

The great name of blasphemy was that the Emperor Caesar went beyond Augustus to being called Lord and being deified as a God. Once a year each citizen had to appear before authorities and acknowledge that Caesar was virtually God. Once one did this then he could go worship according to his choice undisturbed. But if one put Jesus or some other version of God above Caesar then he was seen as a danger to the state and was usually executed.

Thus the most blasphemous name on the beast then is when a flesh and blood man like the rest of us is called and worshiped as a God. It is true that even Jesus said that men are Gods (John 10:34) but he was speaking of God in all of us with equality, great and small. Caesar was declared God as one who was special and unique among men. Caesar demanded to be worshipped, and it is blasphemy for one man to worship another man or even see another person as having more rights than he himself possesses.

The interesting thing about the emperors of Rome is that it was not the government who initiated the idea of calling the emperor a God, but it was the people. The early emperors thought it was a silly thing for the people to do, but eventually they were called gods long enough and with enough repetition that they began to believe it and also see the idea would secure more political power.

One does not need to go to the extreme of calling himself a God to his fellow men and women to have a name of blasphemy, but any name that brings the person a reverential respect takes away from the glory that belongs to God alone. Even Jesus was very cautious about not taking away from the respect due God alone.

A man once addressed Jesus as “good master.” To this he responded:

“Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is God.” Matthew 19:16-17

Jesus did not even want to take the chance of looking too “good” to his followers, but now the mindless followers think it is blasphemy to call Him anything less than the best and most perfect creator God of the universe.

Here is another example:

“But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.” Matthew 23:5-15

Isn’t it interesting how clearly Jesus tried to teach the principle of not using a name or title that exalts one person above another because “all ye are brethren.”

The Catholic Church has certainly disregarded the command of “call no man your father …” Using the title or name of “reverend” violates the same principle and is blasphemous. One man is to be revered no more than another because “we are brethren” as Jesus taught. Many religions use the title of “Holiness” or “Holy” in reference to their leaders. Many New Agers use the title Master when talking about a teacher, but there is one Master and that is the Christ within all of us. If a teacher does not speak to that center within us then we should ignore him.

Royalty uses all kinds of blasphemous names to God such as “Your Highness,” “Your Majesty,” “Your Excellency,” and so on. Even the idea of one being a king or the divine right of kings is blasphemous. One person has no more divine right to be a king than does another.

Then there are many titles that are not blasphemous because they do not indicate that a man is taking the place of God. A title is correct if it merely indicates the job he is attempting to do in this life such as President, Mayor, judge, Senator, doctor, teacher etc. There is nothing untruthful or disrespectful about these names.

You will find, however, that wherever unjust authority rears its ugly head that the person exercising it will revel in the chance to be called by some title that belongs to God alone.

Then there are religious and political organizations where blasphemous names are not allowed, but the leader is still revered as one who is infallible or able to commune with God in a way that the average guy cannot. This type of fixation corresponds to a name of blasphemy and it will be just a matter of time before the illusionary names surfaces to fit the thoughtform.

Truly great leaders are examples of what we are to become, not examples of holiness that we cannot attain. When is the last time you heard a person with a Godlike title speak in such a way that it spoke to your inner Christ and did cause your heart to burn? Probably never.

It is different when a true teacher who wears not the names of blasphemy speaks or writes. The soul of the seeker will be stirred.

Verse two reads:

“And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.” Revelation 13:2

Contemplate the inner meaning and we will examine this in a future post.?

A Short Time

A Short Time

We left off on our discussion of Revelation on this verse:

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” Revelation 12:11

The group of disciples have cast the aspiration of the ego from the center of decision in the head to its right place in lower self where it no longer can cause division in the body of the group. Even so, fiery desire is strong and still seeks to override the selflessness of the spirit and assume control.

Three things give disciples domination over the dragon:

[1] The blood of the lamb.

Blood is a symbol of life and the lamb is a symbol of submission to the Christ consciousness or the soul before the lion of Christ is manifest. The group, which in the past submitted themselves to the outward authority of the dragon and his angels, now must subject themselves to the inner Christ. Their very life must now be guided by principles revealed through the soul.

[2] The word of their testimony.

Their testimony is manifest as the two witnesses, or the words and the works, which they have accepted through the soul. They teach eternal words and perform selfless works of service to their fellow men and women. Their teachings and service take their attention away from low desire and aids them in subduing the dragon.

[3] They loved not their lives unto death.

The true disciple is willing to give his life as a sacrifice if necessary, but more often than not, the physical sacrifice will not be required. Even so, he still gives his life. The life he yields is the life that is held dear by the dragon of desire and lower aspiration. He gives up the life and control of the lower self in favor of the control of the “lamb” or the Christ within. In many ways this is more difficult than sacrificing the physical life. For one thing the temptation to revert to the lower is always there tugging at the disciple and the group. He must stay in focus and cease to love the lower nature and embrace the higher.

After the complete sacrifice of the lower life is made, the disciple is pleased to find that the higher can fulfill the lower nature better than the lower can fulfill itself. He becomes holy, or whole, because his whole self is happy with the Christ self in charge.

“Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.” Revelation 12:12

When the group is guided by the soul the higher nature rejoices.

“woe to the inhabitants of the earth…”

These are they who reject the dominion of the inner Christ and are ruled by their carnal desires.

“and of the sea…”

Water is a symbol of the emotional nature. These are they who are governed by their feeling nature and the desires of the ego.

“the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.”

The lower nature has a life of its own among humanity as a whole. Whenever an individual or group breaks free from control of the dragon it is as if the energy of the beast is redoubled in keeping those in his dominion under complete control. Even so, the dragon reads the writing on the wall and knows it is just a matter of time before he loses more control until he has none at all. This causes him to have great wrath and intensify his efforts to dominate.

“And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.” Revelation 12:13

To preserve his power the dragon stirs up those who are centered in the carnal and emotional nature to suppress the creative power of the female energy, which can create a holy work (the man child) with a destiny to elevate the human race.

The next verse reads:

“And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.” Revelation 12:14

Possible exterior interpretations are interesting here. The church is called the bridegroom of Christ in the scriptures. As such it is an expression of the female aspect of God or the woman.

The 12th chapter of Revelations tells us of two times that the woman (that is, the creative power of the Church) will flee into the wilderness. The first describes suppression of the female power:

“And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and three score days.” Revelation 12:6

In Biblical prophecy a day sometimes means a year so we have a prediction of a period of 1260 years where the creative energy of the church will be hidden in the wilderness of a world dominated by male energy.

This could also refer to three and a half cycles of time beginning sometime after the appearance of Christ, but it is probable that it was written 1260 instead to make us think of years rather than cycles.

When we look back upon our history since the time of Christ we do see that the creative powers of the church were driven into the wilderness and all spiritual work blending the male-female energy was close to non-existent for many centuries. It was only after the establishment of the ensign of a free country, as manifested in the United States was it possible for the female powers to surface again.

The woman came out of the wilderness through the power of the Constitution as well as the numerous spiritual movements initiated here.

But wait! John says the church goes into the wilderness again:

“And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and a half a time, from the face of the serpent.” Revelation 12:14

Instead of 1260 years the second time, the church goes in the wilderness or hiding as written “a time, and times, and a half a time.” How long is this? Obviously it is a different time period than the 1260 years, or it would have been written the same. Actually the “time, and times, and half a time” is a type or a symbol of the great spiritual apostasy, but a different length; thus the different wording.

A time is a symbol of a season, a year, or a generation. The “times” spoken of stands for double that length. A “half a time” is, of course, half the length. This adds up to three and one half seasons, years or generations. If we use three and one half prophetic years, this adds up to 1260 days which keeps showing up.

In the second apostasy the woman was “given two wings of a great eagle.” (Revelation 12:14) Look on the back of a dollar bill and you will see the symbol of the United States! Two wings of a great eagle! Obviously the outward manifestation of this prophecy is referring to a time of suppression of female energy right here in the United States.

The two wings stand for political and spiritual creativity and creation. This tells us that after a period of time where political and spiritual creation flourished the power to create constructively was suppressed in the United States.

It is true that many new political programs have surfaced as well as many new churches but where is the constructive and creative power that brings the good, the beautiful and the true? It is as if it has fled in the wilderness.

But three and a half cycles of being in the wilderness are almost over and we are nearing the time again when true political and spiritual creation will manifest again and take us to a higher level just as did the creative minds of the Founding Fathers.

Now let us look at the meaning as it applies to the disciple and his mission.

The disciple has trod the path of Christ and has overcome all the obstacles in the path. The power of his light, love and vision has drawn to his work many other disciples committed to carrying the work forward. The group is plagued, however, with the presence of the dragon of personal aspiration and desire to serve the interest of self. After much internal conflict and war, the dragon of self is removed from heaven. The mind and spirit then dominate the unstable emotional nature. The group achieves relative peace and accomplishment.

The powers of darkness ever seek to preserve and use the life of the dragon. Even though the group cast out the dragon it still lives on the earth upon which it was cast. This tells us the dragon of personal aspiration finds a home with those more polarized in matter than spirit. If the dragon can no longer destroy the group from within then it will attack from without. The power of fiery emotion will stir up those who substitute raw emotion for spiritual vision and attempt to destroy the work of the initiate.

The workers of light are thus misunderstood and persecuted to the extent that it appears the work will be destroyed. At this point the woman is “given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place…”

Notice that is says the woman was given two wings of an eagle and not the child, which is the creative work.

The child has already ascended to heaven. Does this mean the labor, or the results thereof, are no longer on the earth? Not exactly. The child was caught up to God and to his throne. In other words, the essence of the child are the ideas rather than the form and they are caught up into the minds, hearts and spirits of those who are ready. The ideas have created forms upon the earth, which the dragon attacks and attempts to destroy, but try as he will, he cannot destroy the teachings and ideas. He can destroy the forms but the ideas remain and will come back in other forms.

The dragon faces the sad realization that he cannot destroy the ideas so he does the next best thing. He seeks to suppress and subjugate the power that can give form to the ideas. This power is the creative female side of human nature. By suppressing the “woman in heaven” or the female energy, which gives form to ideas he keeps the child in heaven unable to manifest on earth.

We have seen the work of the dragon as we review our history since the birth of Christ. The female energy and the female species herself has been suppressed and dominated to the extent that she has been nothing more than chattel in most parts of the world. By suppressing the female complement to the male energy the dragon has prevented the kingdom of God from manifesting through form upon the earth.

To preserve the female power which is essential to creating the Kingdom, she is given two wings of a great eagle so she can fly into the wilderness.

In ancient times holy men often fled into the wilderness to escape persecution. But what does it mean that she is given two wings of a great eagle? Verily the wings in this context are symbols of power. Power to do what? Power to fly. To fly where? Through the air to “her place” in the wilderness.

The air is a symbol of the mind and spiritual ideas. The wilderness is a symbol of that place ahead of its time where creative thoughts go and abide until the rest of humanity becomes ready for discovery. When they are ready the wilderness is discovered, settled, irrigated and then blossoms as the rose.

When the dragon persecutes, destroys form and suppresses the female he believes he has won, but he has not. The ideas remain and foment in the wilderness abiding their time. As they wait nothing can hold humanity back from progressing onward until they discover the wilderness along with the ideas, which have been awaiting them.

How long must the ideas remain in the wilderness, beyond the reach of the many? “For a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.” Again we see the three and a half cycles of time that must pass before humanity is ready.

But notice that during this time the woman just does not hibernate, but is “nourished.” In other words, there are a few who seek out the ideas of wholeness (holiness) represented by the equality of male and female working as one. The few who do see the higher way nourish the ideas and concepts during these three and a half cycles or periods, however long that turns out to be.

For example, one of the offspring of the female energy working through the Christ was the principle of spiritual love. The dragon raised its ugly head and suppressed the female energy necessary to manifest this love in its purity. The female energy was driven into the wilderness and all but a few people took the love of Christ and distorted it into a selfish love that drove them to war and to kill their neighbors.

Still the idea of the love of Christ could not be destroyed and was nourished over the centuries by a few who saw the vision of peace on earth good will toward men. This nourishment has kept the vital female energy alive and well and the fact that the females are now gaining their equality is a sign that three and a half cycles are nearing their end.

“And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.” Revelation 12:15

Again, water is a symbol of emotion. Out of the mouths of those possessed of the dragon of fiery desire comes powerful emotional attacks. They try to prevent the manifestation of the new cycle of creative works that are given form through the equal working of the male/female energies.

The emotional attacks are so overwhelming that it seems the new cycle of work will not manifest.

“And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.” Revelation 12:16

The earth not only stands for matter, as opposed to spirit, but it stands for practicality within the world. Those polarized in lower emotion will oppose the ideas when they manifest in a new cycle but because of the evolution of humanity many have become more practical and grounded. The practical people, though not particularly spiritual, see the value of the ideas, which have been nourished over the centuries and support their manifestation. This practical support swallows up the emotional persecution.

For instance, the emotional people in the church fought against Galileo and his idea that the earth was not the center of the universe. They would have succeeded but for the practical, grounded people who looked at the evidence and concluded he was right. As practical people began defending Galileo the persecution against the idea was swallowed up and now all are free to embrace it.

“And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” Revelation 12:17

When one idea permeates society, others are still forming and the dragon gravitates to them in an attempt to suppress them that they do not materialize. He realizes though that his time is short for when enough ideas take form the time will come that the masses will realize how unreliable decision-making by emotion is. Eventually, the people on the earth will rise above the emotional plane and be dominated by mind and spirit.

What does it mean in this context when it refers to those “which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ”?

Those who keep the commandments are those who follow the law of spiritual love which fulfills all the laws. Those who have the testimony of Jesus Christ are those who take upon themselves the meaning of his name: to follow the greatest measure of the law of love though helping your brother to see what you see, know what you know and have power to do what you do.

May we all be bearers of the name of the Son of God.

Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there. Will Rogers (1879 – 1935)

The War in Heaven

The War in Heaven

Next, we examine these verses:

“And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” Revelation 12:7-9

When you think of it “war in heaven” is a peculiar phrase. After all, is heaven really heaven if a great war is going on?

Where is this heaven wherein war is taking place? While it is true that there has not always been peace everywhere, even in the council chambers of the Most High, we must look to the inner meaning of heaven to heighten our understanding.

Heaven, as we have indicated, represents higher consciousness, which unfolds with the activation of the crown center. The revelation of higher consciousness reveals the duality of the fiery dragon and the Archangel Michael. Before this knowledge comes to the disciple, he sees himself as being in a state of oneness with the whole, or with God, but now discovers this thinking covered a final illusion with which he must deal.

Michael comes from the Greek MICHAEL, which is derived from the Hebrew MIYKAEL, which, in turn, is derived from three words. First MIY, meaning who or he. Secondly, KIY meaning assuredly or surely, and finally EL which is translated as God or sometimes mighty or strong.

The standard translation of Michael is “one who is like God,” but if we translate without orthodox filters we can arrive at a more accurate meaning.

If we translate EL as God then it would most likely read “one who is assuredly God” or “he who is God.” But if we translate EL as mighty and strong we get “he who is surely mighty and strong.”

This is particularly interesting when we consider that the identity of the mighty and strong one in Isaiah 28 has been a mystery to many students of scripture.

Who or what then was at war when the consciousness of the disciple ascends to the presence of God? Fiery desire and aspiration conflicted with Michael, or the realization that “the Father and I are one” and all power is given in heaven and earth, making the disciple mighty and strong in the spirit.

Basically, the fight is over whether to submit to the highest aspirations of the ego, (which seemed so righteous at one time) or to what is now realized to be the mighty and strong will of God.

The angels are the thoughts that branch off from both lines of thinking.

Verse eight reads:

“And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.”

A much more accurate translation is found in the Concordant version which reads:

“And they are not strong enough for him, neither was their place still found in heaven.”

The battle comes down to a contest of strength, and the will of God manifested through the Spirit (heaven) to the disciple overcomes the once powerful ego, even an ego that seemed aspire to be like the Most High.

“And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” Revelation 12:9

The ego, even that higher heavenly ego that seemed to serve a great purpose now becomes the adversary (Satan) and is cast out of higher consciousness to the earth, or lower consciousness. Notice that the dragon is not destroyed. Instead, it is taken out of the controlling center (heaven – crown chakra) and placed in the lower nature – the earth.

Thus is the disciple able to live in the world with his ego, but not be of the world because his higher nature or God self is mighty and strong and prevails.

The next verses read:

“And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

“Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.” Revelation 12:10-12

Let us begin with verse 10:

The disciples hear a “loud voice” or come to a powerful awakening.

“Now” used here is an interesting word to contemplate. The instant the adversary, the fiery dragon, is removed from heaven and cast to the earth – at this instant salvation and the kingdom of God are available. This tells us that before the dragon is put in his proper place the disciple does not live in the kingdom.

But aren’t we told that the kingdom is always available, that it is ours for the asking? We may have been told that, but this doesn’t make it true. It is true that the kingdom is always in existence within, but bringing it into full consciousness is something else.

What stands in the way?

The dragon.

The dragon is that powerful desire to serve the self. The dragon made it to heaven because the disciples, even after they achieved group soul contact, had not completely let go of the ego and were deceived into thinking the higher needs of the ego were the needs of God.

Eventually the Christed one and the group prevail and center themselves on heaven, spirit and the needs of the many rather than the needs of the one. It matters not how benevolent that need may be.

When the dragon of zealous and illusionary aspiration is cast down, and the group allows the spirit to flow, a breakthrough is made and several things happen:

[1] Salvation or deliverance.

Instead of worshipping the lower nature, and serving it, the disciples are free from its mastery and can finally choose the higher way of spirit.

[2] Strength.

Before deliverance the ego and outside gods were all powerful. Now, for the first time, the disciples wield true spiritual strength which branches down to strength in every needed way.

[3] The Kingdom of God.

The dark and dreary world is now a thing of the past. No matter what is happening on the outside the disciple now discovers inner peace and joy. His higher vision sees the true kingdom of God.

[4] The Power of Christ.

“Power” in this verse comes from the Greek EXOUSIA which is more appropriately translated as “authority,” as it was in this verse:

“For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.” Matthew 7:9

Actually, authority is closer to the core meaning, but no English word does it justice. Thayer’s Lexicon defines it as the “power of choice, liberty of doing as one pleases.”

Now we see why the authorities were so disturbed at Jesus. He did what he pleased and taught as he pleased without subscribing to what was politically or spiritually correct at the time. Nothing irritates the powers-that-be or want-a-be powers more than to see a free spirit doing as he pleases, flaunting convention.

The dragon holds this power in check and demands homage to powers that restrict the Christ within. When the dragon, or ego, is finally cast down then the Christ consciousness manifests and has power of decision within the mind of the disciple.

“… for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.” Revelation 12:10

As long as disciples feel negatively affected by accusations the dragon is not yet cast out of heaven. Is he easily offended? Then the dragon is still there seeking control.

How does the dragon accuse?

Since this section largely applies to the students of the initiate we must look at group dynamics.

The weak links in the group will be offended and accuse others of doing them harm.

The weak links will suffer personal guilt and seek to spread it to his brothers.

Some will seek the authority of the dragon over the group and by subtle means seek to control the individuals to serve his own desires.

Next it is written:

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” Revelation 12:11

Question:

We know that early Christians sacrificed their physical lives for Christ, but is there another meaning to “they loved not their lives unto the death?” What would this be?

Coming in the Clouds

Coming in the Clouds

A Reader writes: You often give interpretations that differ from the mainstream literalism.  Many Christians are expecting a literal fulfillment of the Second Coming of Christ, appearing in the clouds with angels and destroying the wicked.

What is your view on this?

JJ: There are two main points to consider before answering your question.

Point One: Rarely has any scriptural prophecy been shown to be interpreted correctly.

The prime case in point here the misconception the masses had about the first coming of the Messiah. All but a small handful were expecting him to come as a conquering hero to overthrow the Romans. Many who lived 2000 years ago had the same mindset as do believers today. They anticipated a supernatural coming in the skies where the Messiah was going to burn the enemies of Israel “as stubble” (Mal 4:1) and preserve the righteous who will then live under a perfect dictatorship.

As usual, the vast majority were wrong.

Now fast forward to the past century and we have seen dozens of religious leaders who have carefully examined the prophecies of Daniel, Revelations and Jesus and have come up with specific prophecies of the Second Coming of the Messiah. The result? All have failed. All now look foolish.

In fact, I can’t think of one person who has yet used the Bible to make an accurate prediction.

Based on the track record of scriptural prognosticators surely one must step back, pause, and consider that the chances are high that the majority expectation of the Second Coming is as wrong as was the majority expectation of the first coming.

Point Two: Common sense does not favor the orthodox view.

Just think about this for a moment. You and your neighbor are out mowing lawns the same time. Suddenly you notice a flash of light in the east. You see a man floating in the air followed by thousands of angels. Your neighbor is an unbeliever and gets zapped by fire and starts burning as stubble before you. You look down the street and see all but a few homes are also zapped and people are running around on fire screaming in pain as they burn as stubble.

You are OK though because you believe. You go inside to tell your spouse the good news, but find her crying. You ask her why.

She says your rebellious son caught fire and burned up while playing a video game.

Suddenly you are lifted into the air with millions of others and are somehow able to see and hear Jesus as if he were right in front of you. He tells the group the wicked are just about done burning and as soon as the last evil doer is gone he will snap his fingers and turn the earth into a paradise and settle everyone back down.

You ask about your son who was burned to death.

Jesus tells you that you are better off without him – that from now on no wickedness will be permitted.

This is the gist of the various beliefs on the Second Coming. Now we could pick several other versions and they would sound just as fantastic.

Think on this. Is it logical that something like this will happen? Is it logical to expect a great benevolent dictator? No. There is no such thing as a benevolent dictator. God has never intervened and forced us to obey him or else.

Are the scriptures wrong then?

No. They are merely misunderstood.

There are a number of corresponding interpretations that can explain the various prophesies. The ancient Jews believed that the scriptures have three or more possible interpretations and I accept this idea.

If Christ were here on the earth today, he would probably travel by airplane and appear on TV. He would thus be coming in the clouds and all people could see him together. The heavenly hosts could be spiritual mortals who work with him on the earth.

Then there is other meanings A cloud represents a veil between lower man and higher spiritual presence. By coming in the clouds, the presence of Christ will be hidden from the masses even while he is here. He will be seen, but not recognized.

Now we come to another scripture that many have misunderstood. From acts we read about the ascension of Jesus:

“And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” Acts 1:9-11

People read this and they assume that the time will come that we will look to the skies and the whole world at one time will see a bright Jesus in the sky descending. No one has yet stopped to explain how both sides of the globe could see him at one time, but that’s another topic.

But let us suppose it does pertain to our day. Let us look at the ingredients: surrounding this event that we are supposed to look for again.

[1] First, he was “received” by a cloud.

[2] There is no description of any great light that was seen by the whole earth.

[3] His ascension was witnessed by probably no more than a couple dozen people. In an isolated location.

If this is a correspondence of his Second Coming then what can we expect?

[1] He will be revealed as one coming forth out of a cloud, or some type of veil hiding him from our eyes.

[2] He will not come with a razzle dazzle of bright light seen by all the earth.

[3] When he left a couple dozen people witnessed the event. Thus, when he returns only a small number will at first be aware of his presence.

I do indeed believe in the coming of Christ, but I do not expect any major supernatural event preceding it. Who knows, he may begin his work by joining a discussion group like this one or starting one of his own.

Exactly how he will begin his work is not given. It is up to each of us to become spiritually prepared so we will be sensitive enough to recognize him.

Time and Space

Time and Space

A reader quotes me as follows: “You cannot even imagine what it would be like to be beyond time and space …”

Which is why I am skeptical that something can exist beyond time and space. The very concept of “existence” is bound up in time and space. I do not believe that humanity can even articulate a non-nonsensical concept of something beyond time and space.

JJ: Pure thought would be formless, beyond time and space, yet has power to create all forms.

Let’s look at the popular Big Bang theory. Such proponents believe that 13.8 billion years ago there was no universe, that everything there is resided in what is called a singularity. This is a point infinitesimally small. In such an existence there would have been no motion for there was nothing to move. With nothing to move there would have been no time because time is created by motion.

If this theory is true then at this time (for want of a better word) there was no time or space. Even so, something had to exist or the universe could not have been created because something cannot come out of nothing.

Time and space as we know it exists in our physical universe. It does not exist in other realms as it exists here. Time is different, for instance, in your dream world. During one night you can start by dreaming of space ships in the future and then end up in another dream in the days of Columbus. You’ll also notice that you never exactly measure time there as you do in the physical.

Time in the astral world is something like it is in the dream world.

Since time is created by motion one must see what is moving in the higher spheres to determine how or if time exists there.

Time in the mental world is more flexible still and is molded by thought images in motion.

In the formless worlds time exists as an idea or concept that manifests in the lower worlds, but the passing of it does not affect the reality there. Use your imagination to enter the world of ideas and attempt to see time and motion in such a world. Then we can get a vague idea of how much different the idea of time is there.

Reader: Or time still goes on in the lower worlds at a different rate, and perhaps time goes on so slow that it seems as if there is no time? Don’t know, but the idea of existence outside of time makes no sense to me, and I don’t believe it actually makes sense to anyone.

JJ: There is time in the mental, astral and physical worlds because there is motion there, but it operates much differently in the three different worlds.

If our consciousness were to go to the formless worlds there would be no registration of the passing of time, even though it would continue to pass here.

Time and space are interesting ideas to contemplate.

Reader: “Let’s look at the popular Big Bang theory. Such proponents believe that 14 billion years ago there was no universe, that everything there is resided in what is called a singularity. This is a point infinitesimally small. In such an existence there would have been no motion for there was nothing to move. With nothing to move there would have been no time because time is created by motion.”

If I recollect correctly you don’t believe in concepts of an infinite regress, as in calculating an exact value for a transcendental irrational number. But you find it convenient to believe in an INFINTESIMALLY small singularity?

You’re putting words in my mouth. I didn’t say I believed in it. My belief was extensively put in writing in Book 4 so most here should be aware of my belief on the singularity. In the book the singularity was so small that some would call it infinitesimally small, but technically it still has size. Since all life there is asleep and attempting to establish consciousness in our universe there is no one there to register time, space or form which oscillates between spirit and matter.

The Big Band theory accepts the possibility that the singularity could be infinitesimally small but they do not know. They also consider it could just be very small.

Reader: You can’t even talk about formlessness without using a contradiction in terms. You talk about a time when there was no time. Do you not see the humor in that?

JJ: You are missing my point. If the universe is reduced to a singularity (whatever size it is) and we have no form, space and movement in which to register in consciousness then there would be no time for us. Time must have motion of form registered by consciousness to exist.

What contradicts? If there is no motion of form to register in consciousness then there could be no time – at least not time as we define it here.

Reader: One other thing also – isn’t the Big Bang Theory another example of the “perfect logic” of physics reaching an absurd conclusion?

JJ: Here is the logic of the Big Bang Theory.

Since all galaxies are moving away from each other in a fairly uniform manner, as well as analysis of background radiation, it appears from calculations of current data that the whole universe began at a single point. Many thus theorize that the beginning point was small beyond our imagination. It is recognized that this beginning point is just a theory and could change with new data.

It is indeed a strange conclusion, but is supported by a lot of evidence.

Einstein rejected this at first but later accepted it calling his rejection his greatest mistake.

Reader: Do you believe in infinity or not?

JJ: It has some meaning as a theoretical mathematical point but I do not believe it exists in reality for everything has a number. I prefer the term “unlimited” instead.

My realization that there is no such thing as infinity came recently – probably a couple years ago. When I wrote that God reflected himself to infinity (originally written in 1980) I was going with the orthodox idea of infinity which I have since examined and received additional light. To be technically correct, as I now teach, it should read that God reflected himself toward the theoretical infinite or God reflected himself toward unlimited expansion so all possibilities could be experienced.

This doesn’t really contradict the original principle I was teaching but gives additional light in my opinion.

In my early writings I accepted the idea of infinity. In my later ones I have rejected it. For those who want me to confess I have been wrong – this is another example of where I have made a mistake. I was wrong to buy into the orthodox idea of infinity in my early writings. I plan on editing them one day to reflect my current thinking.

I have said we incarnate into time, but when we are not in it, time does not exist for us because there is no motion to register in our consciousness. If motion still exists in the lower worlds, then time is still going on there and will have passed when one incarnates into time again.

Whether physical motion and time are going on in the singularity would require a straining of words to argue about, but no consciousness would be registering time there.

I prefer the company of peasants because they have not been educated sufficiently to reason incorrectly. Michel de Montaigne (1533 – 1592)
