The Mysteries of A Course in Miracles, Chapter 6

Chapter Six
The Holy Spirit and Angels

The idea of the Trinity – the Father, Son and Holy Spirit – being three but one is presented similarly in A Course in Miracles and orthodox Christianity. The Father aspect, representing the all-powerful creator, has similar ingredients, but the Son is presented quite differently and in more detail in ACIM than in the New Testament. On the other hand, even though there is more about the Holy Spirit in the Course, overall it is significantly in harmony with the Bible.

Concerning the Holy Spirit, Jesus of the New Testament says this:

“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” John 14:16-17

“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” John 14:26

It is interesting that the word Comforter is translated from the Greek PARAKLĒTOS, which means “One who is called in” or “called to one’s aid.”

The Course tells us that the creation of the Holy Spirit originated at the separation of the Son from the Father. He was indeed called in to aid in assisting the Son to return to his right mind. It is written:

“He came into being with the separation as a protection, inspiring the Atonement principle at the same time. Before that there was no need for healing, for no one was comfortless. The Voice of the Holy Spirit is the Call to Atonement, or the restoration of the integrity of the mind.” T-5.I.5

So, His purpose is to call us “to Atonement, or the restoration of the integrity of the mind.”

Concerning the atonement, the Course also says this:

“Atonement means correction, or the undoing of errors.” M-18.4

The “Atonement centers on the past, which is the source of separation, and where it must be undone. For separation must be corrected where it was made.” T-17.III.5

“The purpose of the Atonement is to restore everything to you, or rather to restore it to your awareness. You were given everything when you were created, just as everyone was. When you have been restored to the recognition of your original state, you naturally become part of the Atonement yourself.” OE Tx:1.31

So then, in the ancient past, we as Sons of God who had been given all the creative powers of the Father, had what the Course calls a “mad idea.” We wondered what it would be like to live in a universe of time and space that was separate from God and based upon duality rather than unity, where there was evil as well as good, pain as well as joy. We had this idea that could not be carried out in God’s reality so we created dream world of illusion and entered it as if falling asleep and dreaming. The trouble was that we went into such a deep state of sleep that we had no awareness that we were dreaming, so we accepted the world of illusion as real and forgot that we even had a true home in the celestial realm.

The Course says the story of Adam symbolized what happened to us:

“Yet the Bible says that a deep sleep fell upon Adam, and nowhere is there reference to his waking up. The world has not yet experienced any comprehensive reawakening or rebirth. Such a rebirth is impossible as long as you continue to project or miscreate.” T-2.I.3

Only after the deep sleep fell upon Adam could he experience nightmares.” T-2.I.4

So one reason this whole separation was called a mad idea was that, instead of just entering a universe that was interesting and challenging, we also entered a dream state that gave us many “nightmares.”

This created a barrier in communication between the Father and the Son so deep that God decided a correction was necessary.

“God’s extending outward, though not His completeness, is blocked when the Sonship does not communicate with Him as one. So He thought, ‘My children sleep and must be awakened.’” T-6.V.1

God wanted to awaken His Sons, but there was a major problem. Whatever God places His attention on becomes as if it is real. If God entered the dream to redeem His Sons, then the dream would become real to Him as well and He would also be trapped. There would be created the risk of both the Father and the Son becoming eternally separated from their true home, eternally losing their identity.

To solve the problem and allow God to keep His attention focused on reality He created a special agent, The Holy Spirit, that could be a bridge between the two worlds.

So, God created the “Holy Spirit, Who was God’s answer to the separation.” T-17.IV.4

“The Holy Spirit mediates higher to lower communication, keeping the direct channel from God to you open for revelation.” T-1.II.5

This gives some further light on the seriousness of the matter:

“He has created the Holy Spirit as the Mediator between perception and knowledge. Without this link with God, perception would have replaced knowledge forever in your mind. With this link with God, perception will become so changed and purified that it will lead to knowledge.” W-pI.43.1

So then, if the Holy Spirit had not been created as a link between the worlds, “perception would have replaced knowledge forever.” Perception is what makes the world of illusion real and “seeing would be believing,” forever without the aid of the Holy Spirit whose mission is to bring us the knowledge that there exists a reality which is beyond normal vision.

In addition to being a comforter who reaches across worlds to us, Jesus in the scripture told us the Holy Spirit would “abide with you for ever.”

This Biblical statement agrees with the Course which says:

“But what God creates is eternal. The Holy Spirit will remain with the Sons of God, to bless their creations and keep them in the light of joy.” T-5.I.5.

Next Jesus calls him, “the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him.”

The Course is in harmony with this scripture and adds:

“The Holy Spirit mediates between illusions and the truth. Since He must bridge the gap between reality and dreams, perception leads to knowledge through the grace that God has given Him, to be His gift to everyone who turns to Him for truth.” W-pII.7.1

“When you made visible what is not true, what is true became invisible to you. Yet it cannot be invisible in itself, for the Holy Spirit sees it with perfect clarity.” T-12.VIII.3

The scripture continues:

“but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.”

 And the Course adds:

“The Holy Spirit is in you in a very literal sense. His is the Voice that calls you back to where you were before and will be again. It is possible even in this world to hear only that Voice and no other. It takes effort and great willingness to learn.” T-5.II.3

Next the scripture says:

“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” John 14:26

And the Course affirms as follows:

“The Holy Spirit, Who remembers this for you, merely teaches you how to remove the blocks that stand between you and what you know. His memory is yours.” T-14.IV.9

“truth can still set you free. Look as the Holy Spirit looks, and understand as He understands. His understanding looks back to God in remembrance of me. He is in communion with God always, and He is part of you.” T-5.III.11

The Course, however, goes beyond the Biblical statements of the Holy Spirit and sheds additional light. One point that we already covered was the purpose of his creation, which was to heal the separation from God.

The Course gives additional light on exactly what the Holy Spirit is. It says:

“He is part of the Holy Trinity, because His Mind is partly yours and also partly God’s. This needs clarification, not in statement but in experience. The Holy Spirit is the idea of healing. Being thought, the idea gains as it is shared. Being the Call for God, it is also the idea of God. Since you are part of God it is also the idea of yourself, as well as of all His creations.” T-5.III.1-2

When it speaks of its mind as “partly” ours, it is speaking of the higher part of our minds:

“I do work with your higher mind, the home of the Holy Spirit.” T-4.IV.11

Then it adds this:

“Apart from the Father and the Son, the Holy Spirit has no function. He is not separate from either, being in the Mind of Both, and knowing that Mind is One. He is a Thought of God, and God has given Him to you because He has no Thoughts He does not share.” T-13.VIII.4.

The Course emphasizes that the Holy Spirit is higher mind that dwells in both God and the higher part of ourselves, the same mind that was in Christ:

“The Holy Spirit is the Christ Mind which is aware of the knowledge that lies beyond perception.” T-5.I.5

As far as what its purpose is in addition to the atonement “It is the Holy Spirit’s function to teach you how this oneness (with God) is experienced, what you must do that it can be experienced, and where you should go to do it” T-25.I.6

“The Holy Spirit holds this plan of God exactly as it was received of Him within the Mind of God and in your own.” W-pI.99.5

An important part of the mission of the Holy Spirit involves assisting us in the removal of guilt, as guilt is a major barrier between man and God.

“You whose mind is darkened by doubt and guilt, remember this: God gave the Holy Spirit to you, and gave Him the mission to remove all doubt and every trace of guilt that His dear Son has laid upon himself. It is impossible that this mission fail.” T-13.XI.5

“The Holy Spirit knows that all salvation is escape from guilt. You have no other “enemy,” and against this strange distortion of the purity of the Son of God the Holy Spirit is your only Friend. He is the strong protector of the innocence that sets you free.” T-14.III.13

Finally, a main part of his mission in connection with the Sons of God who are trapped within the illusionary dream is to link our minds with His and guide us until we awaken and arrive home. We cannot do it on our own and need His assistance:

“When you have learned how to decide with God, all decisions become as easy and as right as breathing. There is no effort, and you will be led as gently as if you were being carried down a quiet path in summer. Only your own volition seems to make deciding hard. The Holy Spirit will not delay in answering your every question what to do.” T-14.IV.6

For eons the Sons of God have been trapped in the dark and dreary world. The Course tells us that the only way out is to switch our attention from the lower mind of the ego to the higher mind of the Holy Spirit, which is linked to the eternal part of ourselves.

So, what do we have to do to make this miracle of infallible guidance happen? The answer is amazingly simple.

We have to ask, and when there is a response, we then must receive. Jesus stated this simple principle in the New Testament:

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” Matt 7:7-8

Here is what the Course says about asking:

“The very fact that the Holy Spirit has been asked for anything will ensure a response. Yet it is equally certain that no response given by Him will ever be one that would increase fear. It is possible that His answer will not be heard. It is impossible, however, that it will be lost. There are many answers you have already received but have not yet heard. I assure you that they are waiting for you.” T-9.II.3

“The Holy Spirit will answer every specific problem as long as you believe that problems are specific.” T-11.VIII.5

“To ask the Holy Spirit to decide for you is simply to accept your true inheritance. Does this mean that you cannot say anything without consulting Him? No, indeed! That would hardly be practical, and it is the practical with which this course is most concerned. If you have made it a habit to ask for help when and where you can, you can be confident that wisdom will be given you when you need it.” M-29.5

The second part of the process is for the seeker to be open to receiving beyond theory, but in actuality. Here is what is asked of us to complete the process:

“Your little part is but to give the Holy Spirit the whole idea of sacrifice. And to accept the peace He gives instead, without the limits that would hold its extension back, and so would limit your awareness of it. For what He gives must be extended if you would have its limitless power, and use it for the Son of God’s release.” T-19.IV.B.9

“you must choose to hear one of two voices within you. One you made yourself, and that one is not of God. But the other is given you by God, Who asks you only to listen to it.” T-5.II.3

“The Holy Spirit asks you to respond as God does, for He would teach you what you do not understand. God would respond to every need, whatever form it takes. And so He keeps this channel open to receive His communication to you, and yours to Him.” T-15.VIII.5

When full reliance is made on the side of the Holy Spirit, we are told all future decisions will be effortless, for the right choice will be obvious. For instance, if you were about to drive over a cliff and you realize you could prevent this by merely applying the brakes, then what choice is there really? In theory you could choose to not hit the brakes, but in reality the choice is so obvious that it is the only one to be made.

That is how choices along the path are seen for those who are at one mind with the Holy Spirit.

Angels

In addition to the Trinity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit we are told there is one other group of inhabitants in heaven. This fourth group are the angels, and the Course says a mysteriously small amount about these beings. When it does mention them, it often does so as a side item.

It may seem somewhat contradictory that there is a separate category of angels mentioned when we are told that:

“God created nothing beside you (the Son) and nothing beside you exists.” T-10.in.2

“The universe consists of nothing but the Son of God,” W-pI.183.10

Yet something else called angels apparently does exist. Here is one of the few pieces of knowledge given out concerning the angels.

“You were created ABOVE the angels because your role involves creation as well as protection. You who are in the image of the Father need bow only to HIM, before whom I kneel with you.” UR T 1 B 30y

So, the Son (us) is created “above” the angels, apparently meaning we are of a higher order because we are creators as well as protectors. Protection seems to be the job of angels.

Apparently, after the fall into illusion the angels tried to recover us, but were unable to:

“The Atonement actually began long before the Crucifixion. Many Souls offered their efforts on behalf of the Separated Ones but they could not withstand the strength of the attack, and had to be brought back. Angels came, too, but their protection was not enough, because the Separated ones were not interested in peace. They had already split themselves, and were bent on dividing rather than reintegrating.” UR T 2 B 43

The only way to see harmony in this contradiction is to see the angels as a part of the Sonship, but a group having a different job. Also of note is that teachings in the Ancient Wisdom tell us that angels eventually become Sons of God.

Here are some other quotes from the Course that give some light on the purpose of angels.

“Your newborn purpose is nursed by angels, cherished by the Holy Spirit and protected by God Himself.” T-19.IV.C.9

“Around you angels hover lovingly, to keep away all darkened thoughts of sin, and keep the light where it has entered in.” T-26.IX.7

“This do the body’s eyes behold in one (your brother) whom Heaven cherishes, the angels love and God created perfect.” W-pI.161.9

“God’s Name can not be heard without response, nor said without an echo in the mind that calls you to remember. Say His Name, and you invite the angels to surround the ground on which you stand, and sing to you as they spread out their wings to keep you safe, and shelter you from every worldly thought that would intrude upon your holiness.” W-pI.183.2

Note: The wings here must be symbolic, as ACIM says there is no form in heaven.

“You do not walk alone. God’s angels hover near and all about. His Love surrounds you, and of this be sure; that I will never leave you comfortless.” W.ep.6

“He will not leave you comfortless, nor fail to send His angels down to answer you in His Own Name.” S-2.III.7

Thus, we complete our examination of the four groups of lives which compose heaven, who we are told are really one life to whom we give the generic title of God.

Choosing Life or Death

Choosing Life or Death

A reader asks about the resurrection in relation to reincarnation. If Jesus or a Master overcomes death and supposedly has an immortal body how can he be born again in a new body? Is it possible that Jesus or the Christ could be reincarnated?

First let me quote to you a scripture that refers to celestial beings who have overcome death. It states: “Wherefore, all things are theirs, whether life or death…” D&C 76:59

Thus if a person becomes a master, all things are his. He can choose life or death. If a master can choose death then his body is only as permanent as he desires it to be.

There are two main stages in the overcoming of physical death. The first is the obtaining of the power to rejuvenate the body for as long as service in the physical world is required. This was obtained by Moses for instance. During the forty years in the wilderness living conditions were so harsh that all died but a handful. At the end of this period Moses was still vigorous because he obtained the power from God to rejuvenate his body. Finally, when his mission was accomplished he let his body go the way of all flesh.

The second major state is restoration and is referred to in the scriptures as the “better resurrection.” Jesus was the only one in recorded history to demonstrate this. When the power of restoration is acquired the adept’s body can be destroyed and he can restore it to pristine condition. He can also restore or resurrect any body from a past life for the memory of all his past and the patterns thereof are recorded in his physical permanent atom.

If the high initiate decides he wants to incarnate as a regular human again he can do it several different ways depending on his evolution. If he is in a current body and wants to preserve it he can place the body in a secure location, and then leave it and enter the body of a new baby or participate in an overshadowing where another body is shared.

The second method is to fold up his physical body within the parent vibration of the spirit and then enter again into a new incarnation. In this case his new body will be his vehicle of manifestation for some time to come.

True immortality is in the spiritual body and not the physical as the Mormons believe.

Paul made a reference to this:

“It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

“Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.” I Cor 15:44 & 50

When one travels to kingdoms above the physical he does not go there as a physical being. When Jesus walked through the walls to meet the apostles what body was he in as he passed through the wall? It was not the physical for the physical body in its present condition cannot pass through a wall. When a Master passes through a wall or to other worlds he folds his physical up in the spiritual. One could say it is a little like deep sea diving. When you come up out of the water you no longer need the diving suit. You take it off and only use it again when you want to make another plunge.

Hope this gives you food for thought.

Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit

Some want to know if there is a difference between the Holy Ghost and Holy Spirit. In actuality there is no difference. Everywhere in the new Testament where “Holy Ghost” and “Holy Spirit” is used, both the words “Ghost” and “Spirit” come from the same Greek word which is PNEUMA.

Translators merely used the word “Ghost” instead of “Spirit” because they felt like wording it as such at the time, not because of anything in the original language.

Something Wicked This Way Comes

A reader expressed concern that I may be secretly affiliated with some sinister organization or have some secret agenda to establish control over people’s lives. He brought us Urantia and Hurtak as possible connections.

Let me first specify that I have nothing to do with any Urantia organization or Hurtak. I read his book around 20 years ago and that was all. I am not particularly impressed with Hurtak or Urantia. I cannot find a true newly revealed principle in either of them and the revelation of principles is my main criteria for value.

I am not a member of any church or even loosely affiliated with any organization among humanity. I haven’t even joined the local Chamber of Commerce.

As Glenys said I have stated my intentions numerous times.

Here they are in a nutshell.

(1) To do all I can to bring peace on earth goodwill to human kind.

(2) To enhance the power of decision and the exercise of free will for the individual and group.

(3) To free the individual and group from unearned and appointed authority which is the mark of the Beast. I do this by teaching that all things must be tested against a person’s own soul in connection with judging through mind and heart.

(4) To pass on teachings that I believe have much value.

(5) To stimulate higher spiritual progress and evolution.

(6) To do what I can to prepare the world for the coming of Christ.

(7) To have a good time in the process.

Methodology

A newer reader criticizes me for the way I present my teachings, to which I responded:

Many find my presentation as a breath of fresh air after working through numerous works of fiction that are presented as truth. Anything that I present as a true occurrence I assure you is an event that really happened. Any teaching I present is presented as an item for consideration that you should not accept as true unless you give it every test possible, especially the test of your own soul.

My methodology may be good or bad but method has nothing to do with fruit. Many disliked the methods of Jesus and crucified him for it, but his fruit was still good.

One can plant a tree and have strange and unusual methods in cultivating it, but in the end it is the taste and quality of the fruit that is the test of value. The fruit is the fruit; the method is the method. They are two separate items.

I would say that judging by the quality of people who are in harmony with me that the fruit is very good so far. Like attracts like. If this principle is indeed true then I am flattered.

The reader continued saying that I present my teachings as truth rather than just saying that they are mere opinion. He says that members should question me.

In many cases I see the teaching I give out as more than opinion, Thus it would be a lie to state it as such from my point of view. I present all teachings in as positive light as possible to jolt all seekers into using their discernment to discover the truth. The best way to get a response from your soul is not to run a weak opinion by it but to run an easily understood positive or negative statement or thought past your inner higher intelligence. Thus if I say something in error it is more likely to ring a bell within than some watered down statement that does not even wake the interest of the soul.

I have preceded my teaching many times with the statement that they may or may not be true and that they go out with no claim of authority and that each seeker must test them with his own soul.

Perhaps you and other newer members should read over the archives where many teachings were totally dedicated to laying the foundation of not trusting me without confirmation.

If I am right about everything and you believe it and follow the teachings without confirmation from within you have found nothing. The fountain of living waters is the Spirit of God within you, and guiding seekers to this discovery is at the core of my teachings.

I challenge you to find another teaching situation where there is more questioning (and answers given) than there is here. I probably spend about a third of my teaching time handling challenges. In fact I spend so much time that many complain to me that we spend too much time with the type of questioning you mentioned.

Again I think you are underestimating the intelligence of many group members who accept most of my teachings. Just because they do not challenge me on a regular basis does not mean that they are not independent thinkers. Often times a person does not agree entirely and just wants to mull it around in their mind a while rather than overtly question.

Living Works

12/6/99

Living Works

Let us talk a minute and talk about the sacraments of the church such as baptism, laying on of hands, the bread and wine or Eucharist.

Both the Bible and the Mormon scriptures make it sound like you must be physically baptized to enter the kingdom of heaven, but is this the case? Exactly what does a physical baptism accomplish and why do you suppose it was instituted by the prophets?

The standard answer is that God commanded the ordinance so we should just obey it and not question, but such an unthinking injunction is not good enough for the seeker of the coming age. The person of Light in this day and age wants to know why he is expected to do a thing. If the ordinance has no effect then perhaps we do not want to waste our time.

Concerning baptism Joseph Smith received an interesting revelation:

D&C 22:1 Behold, I say unto you that all old covenants have I caused to be done away in this thing; and this is a new and an everlasting covenant, even that which was from the beginning.

D&C 22:2 Wherefore, although a man should be baptized an hundred times it availeth him nothing, for you cannot enter in at the strait gate by the law of Moses, neither by your dead works.

D&C 22:3 For it is because of your dead works that I have caused this last covenant and this church to be built up unto me, even as in the days of old.

D&C 22:4 Wherefore, enter ye in at the gate, as I have commanded, and seek not to counsel your God. Amen.

Read this and ask the question. Why was Joseph given the mission to restore a church very similar to the early Christian church with all of its ordinances including baptism?

The answer: “For it is because of your dead works that I have caused this last covenant and this church to be built up unto me, even as in the days of old.”

Because the people’s minds were centered on “dead works” the church and ordinances were reestablished.

Interestingly, I have never met a Mormon who was taught this in church. Most of them believe that they have living works and the highest and the best that God has to offer.

Now the question is this. What would Joseph have been commanded to establish if the people’s minds were centered on “living works?”

What is the difference between a dead and living work?

The physical act of baptism is a dead work. Taking a person and placing him under the water and bringing him out of it, by itself does nothing, even if you have all the authority of the hosts of heaven.

What then is the living work behind baptism?

The living work is the meaning behind the symbol and if a person understands this he could obtain all the benefits of baptism without baptism.

The scriptures basically tell us that we need to be baptized to be saved. If baptism itself is a dead work then what is it really telling us to do to become saved or delivered?

The basic meaning of baptism as many have been taught in church is to have our sins washed away, but if physical baptism is a dead work then what really washes our sins away?

We have learned that the real meaning of sin is error or “missing the mark” therefore the washing away of sin is the removal of error. But what is the error or errors that need to be removed?

The basic error that baptism helps to remove is this.

All except those who have the name of God in their foreheads (Rev 14:1) look for authority from a God without. Now when that God without speaks and we accept without question, a great error is created. It is not long before we imperfectly follow the God without and as soon as we disobey, even in the slightest, guilt is created.

Now there are two ways to remove this guilt. The first is to satisfy the demands of an angry “God out there.” But the trouble with this method is that it is not long before you break more commandments and guilt returns. The Catholic confession is a good method of alleviating this returned guilt, but this is a temporary measure and you are again dependent on a voice for God out there rather than the Spirit within.

What is the second and permanent way to remove the guilt?

The second way is to remove yourself from the voice of the outer God, or the “beast” as we taught earlier, and subject yourself to the one authority, the Spirit of God within.

This was the difference between the foolish and wise virgins in the parable. The five wise had oil in their lamps, or the Spirit of God in their hearts and this light of the Spirit lead them to the Christ. The five foolish had no oil and had to go buy some from the authorities, but the oil from the authorities without did not light the way and they “missed the mark” or sinned and were not able to find the Christ.

Thus we see that the true meaning of baptism is to remove the error of guilt, permanently, which guilt is caused by an error in thinking. True salvation is the removal of guilt. The scripture could have said: “Remove the cause of guilt, center yourself on the Spirit within and you will be saved.”

Because the true salvation through baptism is the salvation or deliverance from guilt, does this mean that the physical act should not be done?

No. It does not. The ordinance of baptism was instituted because it does indeed serve a useful purpose as do all symbols. Many angelic lives that differ from human evolution, as well as higher aspects of ourselves communicate with symbols. Also the Masters largely communicate with symbols.

The act of physical baptism sends a communication to higher spiritual lives that you are attempting to enter into a higher spiritual life and this symbolic communication therefore sends a message to refined lives who can help you remove guilt and center yourself on living the life of Christ.

Let us pick two other ordinances.

After baptism, the early apostles laid hands on the persons and they were then supposed to receive the Holy Ghost.

Now the dead work was the laying on of hands. What was the living work or meaning?

Christ also instituted the act of sacrament or Eucharist by eating bread and drinking wine to take upon themselves the body and blood of Christ.

What is the living meaning behind this?

Words of Life

After baptism, the early apostles laid hands on the persons and they were then supposed to receive the Holy Ghost.

Now the dead work was the laying on of hands. What was the living work or meaning?

Christ also instituted the act of sacrament or Eucharist by eating bread and drinking wine to take upon themselves the body and blood of Christ.

What is the living meaning behind this?

To fully understand this it must be looked at in connection with baptism. Baptism is a symbol of the removal of error and making a change in life from the physical to the spiritual. This is such a dramatic change it is referred to as a symbol of a new birth. When one truly follows the living principle behind baptism he will enter the path of Spirit as guilt free as a new born baby.

I was at the birth also of all my children and one thing I noticed is that the baby seems lifeless and does not appear alive until he takes his first breath. One of my children spent over a minute in this condition before he breathed and it made me quite nervous. I can imagine how a parent would feel with a stillborn.

Thus to complete the life of a new birth, the spirit from God must enter into the body.

In the days of the Apostles there was first a symbolic baptism followed by a short period of waiting for the Spirit, just as the parent waits for the spirit to enter the new baby. Then there was a laying on of hands and through a living link to the tree of life, the Spirit flowed stimulating new life from the crown chakra on down. All seven chakras vibrated a little higher according to the consciousness of the seeker and a new life of belonging to the body of Christ was created.

A number of Churches use the laying on of hands today, some claiming authority and some not, but even this sacred act will be a dead work if the process is all that is followed, with no living connection and awareness of the link with the Spirit flowing through you as well as all the Brotherhood of Light.

The Spirit of new life flowing through the hands into the new disciple is usually necessary to create the baptism of fire mentioned in connection with Jesus. In this age the true baptism of fire is very rare and only comes through a high demonstration of faith. The reason it is rare is that the connecting link (as taught in the Molecular Relationship) is not currently secured on the earth. When it is the baptism of fire will become much more common as well as the return of miracles.

Now let us examine the meaning behind the bread and wine of communion.

After Jesus fed the five thousand with fishes and loaves and the crowds pressed toward him thinking that this miracle worker may be their meal ticket for all their needs, Jesus grew a little sad and impatient with their selfish thoughts so he shouted out:

“Except a man eat my flesh and drink my blood he has no part with me.”

This statement shocked and horrified many. Many concluded that he must have been doing miracles by the power of the devil to make such a statement and got away from him as fast as they could. Some of his own Apostles doubted his sanity as he turned to them and asked: “Will you also leave me?”

Then Peter answered and said: “Lord, we have no where else to go. You have the words of eternal life.”

Jesus explained to them that if one eats his flesh and drinks his blood then as the Father dwells in him through the Spirit so will Christ dwell in them. They thus all become part of one living body. Finally he clarified the true meaning of eating and drinking the flesh and blood of Christ.

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” John 6:63

In other words, he was saying that the actual eating of real flesh would profit nothing. The true meat and drink that he was feeding them were his words for his words were life because they were in harmony with Spirit.

Thus if we go to church and eat bread and liquid in remembrance of Christ, the actual physical eating “profiteth nothing” as Jesus said for this by itself is a dead work. What does profit us is to take in the words of life as we eat and drink, or better still make the words of life themselves your meat and drink.

How this is done is one of the keys of eternal life leading to the overcoming of death, but in the meantime those who are ready will receive light from the Oneness Principle on the subject and much benefit can be derived therefrom.

Discerning Light and Dark

This entry is part 37 of 50 in the series 2011A

This discussion on Braco causes an interesting question to surface – one of the few that I have not commented on to some degree.

Does it matter whether or not Braco is an angel or demon as long as people are healed with his technique?

Should we just accept the fact that some miracles happen and not even contemplate or question his motive or whether he represents the light or the dark?

Let us present two scenarios

Scenario One:
Braco is as much or more than his supporters believe. He is pure in heart – his main goal is service; he loves his fellow men and women and is a high initiate.

Obviously no one need have any concern about making the most of his healing powers.

Scenario Two:
Braco was on a quest for power and glory and he saw the teacher Ivica Prokic as a way to attain this. If he could learn his secrets then he could dazzle the crowds.

He studies with him for around a year and a half and feels he has progressed beyond his master but cannot demonstrate this because everyone looks toward Prokic and ignores him. He solves this problem by drowning him in the sea and telling everyone that a rogue wave came along and killed him.

This captures the attention of the Dark Brothers who now decide to use him to further their own ends. They create a goal to make him appear to be a messianic figure and when the time comes that he is loved and trusted by millions they will use him to make their move.

Question:
Now very few of us would have any problem receiving a healing by Braco number one, but how about Braco number two? If you knew the guy was on the dark side but also knew he could heal you would you accept?
***
Before I answer this perhaps we should deal with another important question. Can a person who is not in the light even perform a healing or other miracles?

Let us check the scriptures on this.

Acts 8:9 But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:
Acts 8:10 To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.
Acts 8:11 And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.

So here we see that Simon deceived “all’ from the least to the greatest into thinking he “was some great one.”

Here is another account of Simon:
Dositheus, when he perceived that Simon was depreciating him, fearing lest his reputation among men might be obscured (for he himself was supposed to be the Standing One), moved with rage, when they met as usual at the school, seized a rod, and began to beat Simon; but suddenly the rod seemed to pass through his body, as if it had been smoke. On which Dositheus, being astonished, says to him, ‘Tell me if thou art the Standing One, that I may adore thee.’ And when Simon answered that he was, then Dositheus, perceiving that he himself was not the Standing One, fell down and worshipped him, and gave up his own place as chief to Simon, ordering all the rank of thirty men to obey him; himself taking the inferior place which Simon formerly occupied. Clementine Recognitions, ii. 11

Then after Simon surpassed his teacher, Dositheus, he was said to be able to levitate and even fly.
Then when the apostles visited him he discovered there was one miracle he could not perform and that was the giving of the Holy Spirit. That is one thing the wayward soul cannot manifest.

He can however manifest intense emotional feelings that may be mistaken for the Holy Spirit by those not familiar with it.

In addition Jesus said this:

Matt 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
Matt 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Matt 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Matt 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

This tells us that workers of darkness can perform “many wonderful works” and yet be out of alignment with the will and purpose of God.

Concerning those who serve the beast we are told:
Rev 13:14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast;

Then we have this:
Rev 16:13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
Rev 16:14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

Rev 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image.

Thus the scriptures seem to tell us that many who work miracles are not on the side of the light. The only sure sign of a true servant is the manifestation of the Holy Spirit which is revealed to our souls.

Until one has enough soul contact to perceive the Holy Spirit he has to use his best judgment when he meets someone who is acclaimed as a great or chosen one to do miracles.

Now the natural question to arise is this: If these guys mentioned in the scriptures are not in the light then how do they perform miracles? How was Simon able to convince “all” in his community that he was some great one?

Obviously people saw some real miracles and most people when witnessing such a thing automatically think that the person who seems to be performing the miracle is from God.

But, if the false servant is not from God then by what power is the miracle performed?

The answer may surprise some.

All miracles are performed by the power of God.

BUT… that does not mean that the person performing the miracle is approved of God or on the right hand path. Let me explain.

The miracle of life is through the power of God yet this does not mean that all who are alive are servants of God.

All of us are reflections of God and as such have all the powers of God within us and can manifest them if we just understood how to go about it.

The key to understanding miracles is the principle that “energy follows thought” and the more thoughts involved and directed to one purpose the greater the power.

One who works in either the dark or the light can gather a crowd and direct their thoughts and thus channel their energy to create an atmosphere where miracles an take place.

Once the miracle worker has the people’s thoughts directed according to his will miracles can manifest but their manifestation often has nothing to do with the guy performing, but comes from the energy generated by the people themselves.

This is why in our gatherings, during the healing sessions I try and get as many involved as possible because the more thoughts directed as one the greater the power and we have seen miracles as a result. After the gatherings I have had numerous communications of miracles that manifest because of the group healings that were not apparent at the gathering itself including some proxy healings we have done.

So it seems that healing energy is a little like money. It is available to all who are willing to work for it and can be directed toward selfless service or for the support of the ego or even some dark purpose.

Is it important to know whether a healer or miracle worker is on the right or left hand path?

Yes and the reason is this.

The only really free gifts come directly from God with no other human taking credit. There is no such thing as a free gift when given or seen to be given by another human being.

Like Simon who presented himself as a Great One, the healer who is seen as a special being will seek some type of payment. Maybe he just wants to get rich and will charge a lot of money. Maybe he wants power and wants your allegiance and loyalty. Maybe he wants to increase his power and will use your God energy and claim it as his own.

The true servant will be like Jesus and make no claims of specialness.

The Son can do nothing of himself…the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.” John 5:19 & 14:10

The god that dwells in us all performs all the miracles that manifest and the true servants take no credit for any power apart from this.

Sharón spoke correctly when she said that the healer in the ego would create an energy link with the one being healed. If such a link is established with one who is not in the light then the individual may wind up rejecting the servants and teachings that are in the light – especially if they seem to not be in alignment with the healer.

My approach when being introduced to a new healer, teacher or servant is not to pronounce them good or evil, dark or light, but to examine their two witnesses – their words and works – in the light of day and then let the group decide for themselves.

Holy Spirit, Translation & More

This entry is part 46 of 62 in the series 2010

Posted Sept 23, 2010
Maria asks:
I am thinking a lot of ; what is the Holy Spirit really,– which is talked so much about and which the disciples received after Christ left and then they spoke in tongues? How is it understood and how will it lead you to the Spirit of God or Christ consciousness?

JJ
The Holy Spirit is associated with the Third Aspect. The First Aspect is the Father, or Power. The second is The Son, or Love Wisdom and the third is the Holy Spirit, or Active Intelligence.

This Third aspect is sometimes called Intelligence in Matter. That seems to be a strange phrase that means little to the average student but the truth behind it is profound.

The intelligence of God in the far past created all physical matter. To do this required the application of great intelligence to put together atoms, electrons, protons quarks etc. After the creation of matter was set the intelligence of God remained behind implanted in matter. This implanted intelligence sustains all creation and keeps everything from falling apart and disintegrating into nothingness.

This universal intelligence, which is the Holy Spirit. knows all the secrets of creation and can also tune into all life including you and I.

The soul and the Holy Spirit are not the same thing. The soul is the doorway to higher spheres and opens communication with the Holy Spirit and the spiritual internet behind the Oneness Principle.

On each populated planet there is a high entity who is adept at tuning into this Divine Intelligence and he will represent this Third Aspect. On earth this entity is called The Mahachohan. Part of his job is to channel the intelligence of the Holy Spirit to seekers of truth upon this planet.

Maria wanted to know how the Holy Spirit will lead to the Christ Consciousness. The Christ consciousness is often liberally used with little understanding but it embraces love and wisdom. Embracing the intelligence of the Holy Spirit leads the seeker to discover both love and wisdom. Mastery of this is wrought out in the experience of life.

Rob asks:
Where/how did you learn so much about how to correctly translate the Bible?
I’ve used a Concordance many times and don’t think I could ever be as proficient at correct translations as yourself.

JJ
Thanks for the vote of confidence, Rob. The two main tools I currently use are Strong’s Concordance and The Blue Letter Bible, which is online. It gives you lots of tools, even the tense of the various words.

When I come across a mysterious word I will often check out the root word from whence it came and then check to see the context it was used in other locations within the Bible. If you can find it used a dozen times you will begin to get a clear idea of the true meaning of the word.

When you examine the raw Hebrew words you will see that they often do not paint a picture in the same way as modern languages but seem to leave a lot more up to the intuition of the reader. It seems to present the major thoughts and leaves the minor details up to us.

Tom:
If the original entity (in an overshadowing) follows all instructions that are passed on to him by the master then will the original entity be paying of karma even if the ideas are from the master from overshadowing? Maybe by cooperating?

JJ
Any type of service either pays off bad karma or creates a surplus of good.

Tom:
Will the overshadowing of the original entity always be from a master or can an advanced disciple overshadow someone?

JJ
An entity would have to be a master or above to initiate an overshadowing. Walk ins are done by regular humans with a strong desire to serve.

Tom
If one had a hobby for learning different languages in a past life could the same person in a different life not share that same hobby?

JJ
We will often work at a major interest for several lifetimes in a row or until the soul sends us in a different direction. The basic talent you acquire can be easily retrieved in any future life. Let us say that John Lennon comes back as a politician. He would still love music and probably dabble at it in his spare time but his major attention would be in his new direction.

On Principles, Facts and Data

Book Of Quotes

Inspirational, Spiritual & Metaphysical Quotes

From The Discourses Of JJ Dewey

1  Just as words are the units of expression in our world even so are principles the words and language of the higher kingdoms.

2  He who can contemplate and receive a flash of light that allows vision of a principle has achieved more than one who has a visitation of a spiritual being or attained bliss through negated thought.

3  The understanding of a principle accelerates the discovery of truth a hundred times or more.

4  Facts deal with the worlds of form, but principles come from the formless worlds.

5  It takes a thousand facts to create the understanding of one principle, but one principle can reveal over a thousand facts.

6  We must rediscover from the memory of God the principles that we will transpose from the lower to the higher kingdoms.

7  Principles are the language of the soul and when this language is learned deception will be a rare occurrence and the sons of men who are the sons of God can proceed in oneness of heart and spirit.

8  One cannot see a new principle clearly without putting together some established facts.

9  A principle is that which demonstrates the intelligence of God and makes things in the universe work toward a dominating good.

10  I teach that the Law of Correspondences is indeed a true principle, but that which is above does not exactly correspond to that which is below.

11  That which is higher than truth are principles which is the language of the soul.

12  Gather all the reliable information you can about a subject of interest and try to see the principles suggested by the data. Then draw conclusions and run the conclusions by your soul and see if you receive a response.

13  Truth is in harmony with spiritual principles; therefore we discover that which is true through the application of those principles.

14  The higher psychic will always understand why he is saying what he is saying because he gets revelation in association with principles which he understands.

15  There will be times that someone will receive hints from his inner teacher that he is supposed to solve through the understanding of a principle.

16  The principles I have applied in my life work; they leave me full inside not empty, leave me free from pain, not a victim of it, elevate me beyond the clinging lives, and leave me free to put my attention on things more noble. Fortunately, I am not alone in this realization.

17  If a principle is true then there is no finger pointing about it, it just is.

18  The instant the principle behind the facts is seen, confusion or Babylon falls, and is no more.

19  Once a principle is embedded in human consciousness it is not lost as is a piece of data.

20  A principle is an enunciation of what is.

21  A principle is the underlying truth that makes all facts valid.

22  The language of the Holy Spirit is composed of principles, not data.

23  To know all things in the language of the spirit is to know all principles.

24  True principles are always in effect all around us.

25  The universe is built upon true principles, held together by them and will be dissolved by them.

26  True principles govern our lives, our deaths, our relationships, our sorrow and our joys.

27  We live in a sea of principles, which governs all things, yet until we touch the soul we do not even realize what a principle is.

28  Sometimes you can find a principle in a book written by an author that does not know what a principle is.

29  A principle is not created. A principle is always present and always works without beginning or end.

30  The principle behind beauty is intelligent design.

31  Principles can only be discovered and taught through the soul; for principles are the language by which the soul communicates.

32  I have stressed the difference many times between principles and data. Data can be easily made up by anyone with a good imagination or obtained by any trance channeler.

33  He, who believes because of data alone, merely because it sounds fanciful, will continue to tread the path of glamour and illusion.

34  Even though true facts are useful, this is not what brings freedom.

35  On the physical plane truth is manifest as facts.

36  Data is easy to materialize, but it takes the light of the soul to reveal a principle.

37  Communion through the astral body, the emotional nature, the lower mind and lower psychism always deals with facts which may or may not be correct.

38  You exist on a principle, not a piece of data.

39  Pour your attention on the universe of principles and hold it there, the time will come that you will receive a “flashing forth” or a holy instant of revelation; suddenly you will see and understand that which was previously unseen and not understood.

40  Limitation is the principle behind the Law of Contraction and Expansion. There is no expansion without the application of limitation.

41  God did not create principles and laws, but principles and laws merely manifest during creation and all life including God has to apply them to produce desired ends.

42  We cannot have a full understanding of principles without a foundation of true facts and we cannot discover true facts around higher knowledge without the understanding of true principles.

43  When one truly follows the living principle behind baptism he will enter the path of Spirit as guilt free as a new born baby.

44  That which comes through you and out of you is evidence of your correct use of higher principles.

45  As the door of the soul opens, seek to understand the principle that will lead to your answer and that which lies behind the answer.

46  A true principle is a lever that leads to many true facts.

47  A principle is a description, or picture, of how and why things work and is always applicable.

48  What good does it do to know great mysteries of life and being and kingdoms if we cannot demonstrate the basic principles of love and forgiveness?

49  The principle of “walk-ins” is a true principle and is different from an  overshadowing.”  A “walk-in” usually happens when an advanced soul sees an opportunity to accomplish a great or good work. Abraham Lincoln was one famous example.

50  Neither divine possession nor the overshadowing principle is out of harmony with the true teachings on the atonement.

51  By understanding a principle you can understand all the details related to the principle once the principle is clear in your mind.

52  What is the principle behind worship?

53  The great principle behind permanent peace is this. First there must be an inner peace where the consciousness of the seeker must register the silent voice of God within his soul.

54  When the answer involves a piece of data then the answer is just the answer and it is black and white, cut and dried. But when it involves a principle then the answer is not always the answer.

55  You will loose data from life to life but the intelligence acquired through the understanding of principles will go with you to the next life and prove very useful.

56  Many of the details and problems in working out a true principle will not be foreseen. A principle must be demonstrated in reality to know all the details and problems that will surface.
