True Libertarians
A reader brought up a libertarian test and thought I scored rather high.
Actually, I scored on the low end of the libertarian category. I think it was a 92. To score any higher I don’t think you’d be a libertarian, but an anarchist. That’s one of the problems with Libertarians is there is a disagreement as to what a pure one is. Probably most would agree on about 80% of the principles but it’s the other 20% that divides them. Some want no laws or restrictions at all while others, like myself, believe that a certain amount of structure is necessary to insure maximum liberty.
Many Libertarians are also very anti-war, but sometimes war is necessary to insure maximum liberty – such as World War II for instance.
When working for constructive change the laborer must look at what can be done, with the realization that the ideal in which he believes may not be achievable in one or even two or three steps. The leader must look at what the will of the people will accept and take his steps with that in mind.
Next he asked if I think we should shun all welfare since most libertarians lean that direction.
The idea is this. People should never be forced to do that which is good. Maximum freedom while maintaining civil structure is always the goal on the side of right.
At present welfare and many entitlements, which are looked upon by many as good and benevolent, are supported by funds extracted by force. That is Big Brother takes from those who it deems is not doing enough good works with their money and giving it to help the so-called disadvantaged.
While it is good to help the disadvantaged the error or forcing people to do good is a much greater evil than the resulting good.
Should we shun all welfare then?
The answer is no. We should of our own free will work for the welfare of others to the greatest degree possible. In the ideal world, or the true Zion, the people would be caring enough so there would be no poor among them. This could happen through free will offerings and sharing rather than forcing citizens to do good.
Perhaps he was wondering if we should shun all participation in the current system. The answer is if one is down and out he must take help that is legal wherever he can find it. Even if one doesn’t agree with the system he is in, but has to contribute to it when he has the means and that is all that is available for assistance, then he has a right to take or receive the benefits of the system.
I think the Medicare system is inefficient and needs to be replaced with something better, but I will still sign up for it. It is better to get 25 cents for a tax dollar spent than nothing at all.
Some think the system cannot be changed, but it’s has been changed in the past for both good and evil. Therefore, it can be changed in the future. We can be agents of change for the better but we must be practical and work at what can be done, not a dream that cannot be accomplished in the immediate future.
Every organization that is not molecular will live and die. This means that every government on the earth has its days numbered. When the lights see that the days of a government are at an end then they must prepare for the next round of evolution.
The government of the United States could end in 20 years or it could continue another couple hundred largely depending on the course we take in the rising generation. The essence of the freedom guaranteed by the Constitution will live on no matter what happens. Now that generations have had a taste of true freedom it is embedded in the human spirit and will not die.
Even if our nation, or the nations of the world, were to collapse, freedom would be reborn, for the seed is in the human heart, never to be destroyed.
The Death Star
A reader pointed out that a white dwarf could go supernova in the star system of T Pyxidis and some scientists think that this could create havoc here on the earth. He wondered if we could use astrology to predict when this may happen.
First I have two pieces of good news. Not included in most articles about T Pyxidis is the fact that most scientists think that if this system should go Nova that it will probably be millions of years in the future. There will be smaller bursts of energy between now and then that should not cause much damage.
Secondly here is some more information from Wikipedia:
“Because of its relatively close distance, some contend that a T Pyxidis supernova could have a significant impact on Earth. The received gamma radiation would equal the total (all spectra) radiation of approximately 1000 solar flares, and would severely damage the ozone layer. The X-radiation that reaches Earth, however, would be less than the X-radiation of a single average solar flare. However, Dr. Sion’s calculations were challenged by Prof. Alex Fillipenko who said that Sion had possibly miscalculated the damage that could be caused by a T Pyxidis supernova. He had used data for a far more deadly gamma-ray burst (GRB) exploding 3,260 light-years from Earth, not a supernova, and T Pyxidis certainly isn’t expected to produce a GRB. According to an another expert, ‘A supernova would have to be 10 times closer [to Earth] to do the damage described.’”
Whew! We may miss a bullet on that one.
As far as using astrology for predicting what this may do — that is not likely.
Outside of objects in our solar system generally only twelve constellations of the Zodiac are used. These twelve signs each represent 30 degrees of the skyline or the whole 360 degrees altogether. T Pyxidis would thus be located in the region of Cancer.
A handful of astrologers have attempted to use various stars and other constellations in their calculations but the number of objects and sectors now in use is already so great that that the variables are mind boggling — making it a very difficult art to perfect as it is.
Astrology is a little like playing the guitar. It is easy to play a few chords but very difficult to master it.
If a person had a history of the cycles of the stars and supernovas over a billion years or so then a supercomputer may be able to calculate the appearance of supernova and other events.
On the other hand, let us suppose that that T Pyxidis exploded yesterday. We wouldn’t know about it or be affected for 3260 years. BUT, since refined substance and thought and travel faster than light the higher lives would know what is coming from space thousands of years in advance. It is entirely possible that the lives of planets and the sun itself could pick up the nova the moment it happens and their movement and cycles could be influenced. The Masters would probably know of the danger and seek to prepare humanity for the event.
