What God Knows

What God Knows

A reader quotes me saying:

“Therefore He cannot know anything. For there to be knowledge, He has to reflect Himself down to us. Knowledge is only available to us. He doesn’t even need it. When you think of knowledge it always involves some form, like Boise is the capitol of Idaho. The pure essence of God doesn’t need to know that. It has nothing to do with where He is going.”

Question: So you are saying that God knows nothing at all. He’s just a blob up there floating around space somewhere like that slug with no brain? Wouldn’t God need knowledge of the Plan He has, but apparently knows nothing about? Or God is only in essence up there and His mind is down here with us?

JJ: Let us answer using the Law of Correspondences. God, the One Great Life, is a composite of all the lives in the universe together. In other words, his body is the universe.

Now you, who are in the image of God, also dwell in a universe which are your own bodies (physical, astral, mental etc.).

You as an entity are comparable to an atom in the body of God. Now let us correspond this to you. Are you aware of what the carbon atoms are up to within your own body? You know nothing about them just as the Big Guy knows nothing about you. It is the carbon atom’s responsibility to find out about the body as a whole and merge with it, not the body’s responsibility to find out about the atom and pay attention to it.

Your life force flows through your atoms and when the atoms know themselves as one with you then in this sense you know your atoms.

The life of God flows through us and when we know ourselves then God knows us because we are gods, or in the image of God.

Comment: But much of the knowledge we’re going through, He has known.

JJ: The lives that are here know that. We are fulfilling the plans of God. In one way God knows everything and in another way He doesn’t know everything. Jesus said, “God knows when the sparrow will fall.” The reason He knows when the sparrow will fall is because the spirit of God is within the sparrow and the consciousness of the sparrow is aware of his falling. The consciousness of the sparrow is aware of his falling thus God is aware, because we are all a part of God. So God does know things. He knows everything you’re doing because you know everything you are doing since you are an image of God. That’s how God knows everything.”

Question: How could the lives that are here now know the past, present and future, if God has no knowledge of what is past, present and future?

JJ: God only knows the future as lives such as ourselves, the Masters etc know the future and none of us knows it perfectly.

When we together as the One Great Life jumped into creation we did so with a rough idea of what the end result would be – something like a painter has the end product in mind, but not always the exact picture.

Just as the painter does not know much more than a couple future strokes, even so do the lives of God have to figure out the strokes as they become available and unfold. This is what makes life interesting enough to draw the attention of God. If he knew all the details he wouldn’t even bother with the creation of the universe for there would be no fun in it. Would you want to even play Monopoly if you knew all the moves in advance?

Question: Obviously Jesus had a lot of the information about what was going to happen in the future, and which has happened. So did it only happen in the future because Jesus said it would? Or did the higher lives which are connected to God already live this existence, and therefore knew beforehand what was to be? That way, God would not have had any knowledge of this yet because the higher lives are still reflecting part of this Plan to Him?

JJ: True prophets have an insight into cycles. It is a true principle that history repeats itself. But we must add the caveat that it repeats with unpredictable variations.

Neither Jesus, prophets or the mystics predicted the events and products of our time in a specific way. Using symbolism we can roughly see some details, but nothing specific is given. Who for instance predicted the computer in any detail? Same thing with other inventions. In many ancient prophesies we can find some rough evidence that they will exist but no specific details.

Why were no details given?

Because they were not known.

Question: God knows everything we are doing, however God has no knowledge at all? How can God have made up the plan when He had no knowledge in the beginning from His reflection on that knowledge because we weren’t there yet?

JJ: God does not make up a plan, but sees what “must be” and participates in making it a reality.

Before there was a hydrogen atom God did not sit around and say: “I will create a hydrogen atom.” Instead he looked into the future and saw what must be and participated in it until the hydrogen atom came into being. The end product of the hydrogen atom could not have been changed, even by God. This was the only way that the foundation of physical creation could have been and there was no changing it.

Even so, it is with us. The end of the universe is a certain type of configuration and not even God can change it. All God or us can do is look into the future, see what must be and participate in it. Our free will only determines the time frame and method of approach. When we find that 2+2=4 there is no need to struggle in changing it, but instead we use it to participate in reality.

A great many people think they are thinking when they are merely rearranging their prejudices.

KRISIS

KRISIS

I received this from a reader. He quotes this scripture that I referenced:

“The hour is coming in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation (KRISIS).” John 5:28-29

I looked up the definition for the above Greek word (KRISIS) and found the following. There isn’t anything here that suggest what you are saying the word should imply, namely correction. The bible translators seem to have gotten it right.

1) a separating, sundering, separation

2) selection

3) judgment

4) the college of judges

5) right, justice

JJ: Response: You were quoting here from the online Blue Letter Bible which is a useful research tool, but for accuracy it is best to start with the Strong’s Concordance. It is also best to use an older edition for the last one I looked at had a number of changes in it and not for the better. Apparently some believers do not like the literal translation and have added some biased interpretations to more closely conform to orthodox dogma.

Many of the exact meanings of Biblical words from the Greek and Hebrew have been lost and over the past millennia and much guesswork has been involved in translation. This is why one verse will have dozens of different wordings in the various translations giving a number of variations of meaning.

This verse in John is no exception for it is rendered a number of different ways. Translators translate KRISIS here as “damnation” “judgment and “condemnation” in the various Bibles.

The most accepted translation of this word is “Decision.” This is verified by Strong’s Concordance, the most valued authority in Bible translation. Most Bible and Greek scholars agree with this.

The common translation for the word in Bibles is “judgment.”

It is interesting to note that “decision” and “judgment” are the first two key words in the Keys of Knowledge.

A word with a core meaning of decision is often translated as “judgment” because the two words are so closely linked. After all, what is a judgment but a weighted decision?

The fact that the Greek word KRISIS evolved into the English “crisis” gives us some additional hints as to the original meaning.

My dictionary gives two interesting definitions of crisis:

(1) A crucial or decisive point or situation; a turning point.

(2) A point in a story or drama when a conflict reaches its highest tension and must be resolved.

Now the interesting thing about the Biblical Greek and Hebrew words is this. Many of them cannot be accurately translated with a single English word. Many of these ancient words are very rich in meaning and would take a whole paragraph to accurately describe. Unfortunately, when translating an entire script it is impossible to elaborate on the meaning of each word so usually just a single word must be picked. When KRISIS evolved into English a new word had to be created to project its meaning. This new word was not decision, judgment, damnation, condemnation or any of the words mentioned by Bible translators, but the new word “crisis.”

Crisis is related to the orthodox meaning of decision and judgment, but with a twist. The twist is a point of tension, or turning point that will lead to an entirely new path, usually one of correction. I therefore gave what I consider to be the most correct meaning of the word as “decision which leads to correction.” If I had to reduce it to a word I would use the word “correction.”

The final test of a correct translation is to go to every place in the Bible where the word is used and see if the word or phrase fits on a consistent basis.

The Bible translators do not use judgment in every case because it doesn’t seem to fit consistently.

For one thing the judgments mentioned in the scripture occur before the resurrection. How then can we have a resurrection of judgment when those coming back to life are already judged?

Let us take a look at a couple places where KRISIS is translated as something other than “judgment” and see if the word “correction” seems to fit better.

First of all let us look at the scripture in question:

“The hour is coming in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation (KRISIS).” John 5:28-29

There is no basis at all to use the word “damnation” but a resurrection that places you in a situation where you are forced to make decisions which leads to correction makes sense. “resurrection of correction” thus fits in well here.

Here’s another:

King James:

“And this is the condemnation (KRISIS), that the light is come into the world…” John 3:19

With “correction”

“And this is the correction (KRISIS), that the light is come into the world…”

King James:

“Ye serpents, Ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation (KRISIS) of hell?” Matt 23:33

With “correction”

“Ye serpents, Ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the correction (KRISIS) of hell?

In this context it is interesting that the hell that is our prison system is called “correctional” institutions.

We also find places where KRISIS is translated as “judgment” that it makes more sense to use “correction.”

For Instance – King James:

“But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment (KRISIS).” Matt 12:36

With “correction”

“But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of correction (KRISIS).”

King James:

“But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment (KRISIS) and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.” Luke 11:42

With “correction”

“But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over correction (KRISIS) and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.”

King James:

“I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment (KRISIS) is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.” John 5:30

With “correction”

“I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my correction (KRISIS) is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.” John 5:30

King James:

“Now is the judgment (KRISIS) of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.” John 12:31

With “correction”

“Now is the correction (KRISIS) of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.”

Standard

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment (KRISIS).” Heb 9:27

With “correction”

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the correction (KRISIS).”

King James:

“Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment (KRISIS) upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly” Jude, Verses 14-15

With “correction”

“Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute correction (KRISIS) upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly”

King James:

“Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment (KRISIS) is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” Rev 14:7

With “correction”

“Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his correction (KRISIS) is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.”

As I said no single word does the job. Correction, judgment and decision all fit fairly consistently, but what fits best of all is the core meaning of the modern word crisis which evolved from KRISIS – which is basically “a decision or situation which brings correction” – or if the wrong decision is made, disaster. When we realize that the great means to make corrections from mistakes in one life is the reincarnation into another then we can see how closely linked to multiple lives this word is.

The Mysteries of A Course in Miracles, Chapter 8

Chapter Eight
The Mad Idea

In the timeless beginning there was only God, but there was a problem. God was lonely and “God Himself did not will to be alone.” T-11.I.1

Since His will is all powerful, a solution in the form of an idea capable of manifesting came to mind. He would create a grand universe full of life, but it would be a unified life of many parts. Thus we are told that God “created you (the Son) out of Himself, but still within Him.” T-14.IV.4 and “The universe consists of nothing but the Son of God,” W-pI.183.10

So, God created a universe out of Himself by extending Himself with many parts but with one life, and called this masterpiece his “Only Son.”

In creating the Son, God took a great risk that may not have seemed obvious at the time. He made His Son like Himself and gave him all of his powers of mind, Spirit and creation. The Son would thus be a creator like the Father and cause a universal extension of all there is. The Son would give birth to other Sons and their Sons would create other Sons ad infinitum.

He also gave His Son free will like unto Himself. This seemed to be without risk because being like the Father, the Son could only create like himself within the universe of true reality. Every creation that is eternal and real has to be perfect and good, so what could go wrong?

Here is what the Course says went wrong.

“Into eternity, where all is one, there crept a tiny, mad idea, at which the Son of God remembered not to laugh. In his forgetting did the thought become a serious idea, and possible of both accomplishment and real effects.” T-27.VIII.6

The mad idea is explained somewhat here:

“Because of your likeness to your Creator you are creative. No child of God can lose this ability because it is inherent in what he is, but he can use it inappropriately by projecting. The inappropriate use of extension, or projection, occurs when you believe that some emptiness or lack exists in you, and that you can fill it with your own ideas instead of truth. This process involves the following steps:

First, you believe that what God created can be changed by your own mind.

Second, you believe that what is perfect can be rendered imperfect or lacking.

Third, you believe that you can distort the creations of God, including yourself.

Fourth, you believe that you can create yourself, and that the direction of your own creation is up to you.

“These related distortions represent a picture of what actually occurred in the separation, or the ‘detour into fear.’” T-2.I.1-2

This idea that we can create ourselves caused the creation of the ego, the false self that sees itself as separated from God and Spirit, but still has powers of the mind. Concerning this ego, the Course says:

“This is the Son of God’s replacement for his will, a mad revolt against what must forever be. This is the statement that he has the power to make God powerless and so to take it for himself, and leave himself without what God has willed for him. This is the mad idea you have enshrined upon your altars, and which you worship.” T-21.II.6

We are told that “The ego made the world” T-5.III.11 It turns out that this world the ego made is much different than the universe created by God. The main difference is that everything in God’s universe, our true home, is eternal, perfect and unchangeable. On the other hand, everything created by the ego is temporary, imperfect and will have an end. Even the stars which seem to be permanent to us will have an end, and their lifespan of billions of years is rated as only an instant compared to eternity.

The ego is most proud of its creation of the human body, for this is the vehicle of the ultimate separation from God according to the Course:

“God cannot come into a body, nor can you join Him there. Limits on love will always seem to shut Him out, and keep you apart from Him. The body is a tiny fence around a little part of a glorious and complete idea. It draws a circle, infinitely small, around a very little segment of Heaven, splintered from the whole, proclaiming that within it is your kingdom, where God can enter not.

“Within this kingdom the ego rules, and cruelly. And to defend this little speck of dust it bids you fight against the universe. This fragment of your mind is such a tiny part of it that, could you but appreciate the whole, you would see instantly that it is like the smallest sunbeam to the sun, or like the faintest ripple on the surface of the ocean. In its amazing arrogance, this tiny sunbeam has decided it is the sun; this almost imperceptible ripple hails itself as the ocean.” T-18.VIII.2-3

Because everything in the ego’s universe is temporary, it is not seen as real by the inhabitants of heaven. We are told that only that which is eternal is real and that all things with a beginning and an end are to be compared to a dream. The only difference is the dream of the Son is a longer more real dream than what we have at night, but compared to the eternal true reality, all the ego’s creations come and go in an instant, even if they last billions of years to us. It is notable that the Course uses the word “made” in reference to the ego’s creations and generally reserves the word “create” to refer to eternal things.

So, in a nutshell we have this situation. God extends Himself through His grand creation, looking forward to an eternity of love, peace and joy of sharing with His Beloved Son. Then something went wrong and the Son got a “mad idea” to make a world that was very different from heaven, one with dualities, time, space, pain, pleasure and much more. The Son thought this would be an interesting diversion. Indeed, in our reality children do not accept all the beliefs of their parents and often desire to do their own thing to the dismay of their parents. Apparently, this was also the case with Father and Son in heaven.

The standard interpretation by most Course students of what happened next goes something like this:

The Son (which includes all of us) fell asleep and entered into an illusion that was totally not real (earth life where we are now). The Son entered a world of nightmares where there was pain, guilt and attacks of every kind one can imagine, all ending in fear and death. What the Son did not realize when having all these nightmares was that he was only dreaming, while his real self was still safe in heaven.

Even so, the Father was deprived of full fellowship with His Son while he was in his dream world so He immediately came up with a solution. Since He could not enter the dream state without making it real, He created the Holy Spirit to awaken the Son. The Holy Spirit performed his job perfectly, and the whole nightmare was over in an eternal instant. The Son woke up and it is now as if nothing happened.

Strangely, many Course students repeat this idea almost like a mantra saying things like:

“The world has never existed.”

“I am not here.”

“Nothing here is real.”

“I am in heaven with God.”

“The separation never occurred.”

They say quite a number of things along this line. If a regular person unfamiliar with the Course were to overhear some conversations of ACIM students, he may think that calling the men in white would be in order. On the other hand, the students see general humanity as buying into an insane “mad idea” from which they need to awaken.

So, are students in alignment with Course teachings when they insist that nothing exists or has happened in this world? Some focus so intently on this idea that you cannot have a reasonable discussion with them about anything that is happening. Tell them about a friend who has cancer and they’ll merely respond that the cancer is not real and show no empathy for the suffering person. They may quote something from the Course such as “The guiltless mind cannot suffer.” T-5.V.5 He reasons that if the suffering person realized he was not here, there would be nothing to feel guilty about and nothing to suffer. Meanwhile, this idealist still has his own share of painful effects that he tries to ignore.

The problem is that the Course does seem to say some fairly radical things, but like all teachings, one has to look at the whole rather than the part to get the full picture. For instance, if all we knew about Jesus was the story of him giving the money changers a good whipping, then we wouldn’t be inclined to call him the Prince of Peace.

The Course does give teachings that lean in two directions at times, and the tendency of students is to pick one and support it while ignoring anything said to the contrary. We see this in the Bible with its teachings on faith and works. There are scriptures that indicate that all we need is faith to be saved and others say works is necessary. Those who pick a side will ignore anything to the contrary.

In speaking of non-existence, ACIM says this:

“The world you see does not exist, because the place where you perceive it is not real.” T-28.V.7

“Everything you made has never been” T-12.VIII.6

“The body is the symbol of what you think you are. It is clearly a separation device, and therefore does not exist.” T-6.V.A.2

These and numerous other passages tend to cause some students to tune out to the effects in this world to the extent that they go deeper into the illusion from which they wish to escape.

So, for students who believe that the separation did not happen, and we are not even here but in heaven, let me ask this:

How is it that you are reading this with physical eyes?

Why did Jesus come here to a place that does not exist and give A Course in Miracles to Helen Schucman, who does not exist?

Why did God create the Holy Spirit to deal with a problem that does not exist?

Why is “God is lonely without His Sons,” T-2.III.5 after the separation that never happened?

Obviously, the “never happened” crowd are missing a piece to the puzzle, for just denying our existence here does nothing to awaken us to the higher reality.

So, what is the truth of the matter?

The problem involved is one that has repeated itself in many teachings given out through the ages. When a master teacher gives out material designed to shift the thinking of the students, he will often place extra strong emphasis on key points. Without this emphasis, students are likely to gloss over the important principles and not make changes in their thinking. This strong emphasis has positive and negative effects. The positive is that it grabs students’ attention and makes them think. The negative is that some go overboard in embracing the emphasized teachings and miss the intended enlightenment.

A Course in Miracles indeed has one particular controversial teaching that needs strong emphasis to get the attention of students, which is this: This whole world is created by our minds similarly to how our dreams are created at night, and does not exist in the higher reality. Now most people who study the course are not esoteric students who see the world as illusion, as do the Buddhists, but are ordinary folk who have bought into the idea that this universe is as real as their eyes tell them it is. Therefore, the Voice of ACIM places extra strong emphasis on the idea that our world is not real.

Once this is understood, the next question to ponder is how the Course defines what is real and what is not.

The Course basically gives the following differentiation between what is real and what is illusion: Since God is eternal, that which He creates is also eternal and “only eternity is real.” UR T 1 B 22s That which is real has no beginning or end, but continues forever.

That which is not real exists in time and space and has a beginning and an end:

“The stars will disappear, and night and day will be no more. All things that come and go, the tides, the seasons and the lives of men; all things that change with time and bloom and fade will not return. Where time has set an end is not where the eternal is.” T-29.VI.2

Anything that exists in our visible universe will have an end, even the stars with lifetimes of billions of years. Compared to eternity, a billion years is an instant and when the star, the planet or the flower is gone, it has then merely passed as does a dream, and when gone is no more real than a dream. We read:

“Time and eternity cannot both be real, because they contradict each other. If you will accept only what is timeless as real, you will begin to understand eternity and make it yours.” T-10.V.14

“The separation is a system of thought real enough in time, though not in eternity. All beliefs are real to the believer.” T-3.VII.3

To see our universe as something that does not exist misses the point. The real point is that in the higher realty (the Course calls heaven), all attention is on eternal things that do not pass away and to awareness of those in heaven, it is as if our universe is not real. It only has a semblance of reality for the creator Son if he enters the dream state.

But consider this; even dreams have a reality to them. When you dream at night you are having a real experience, and often the influence of the dream will carry over into the waking state. If you are being chased by a monster, you may wake up sweating with a much faster heartbeat than normal. If you dream of a pleasant fantasy and wake up prematurely, you may want to go back to sleep for a while and continue the dream.

Yes, dreams are illusions and not real on a higher level; but when you are in them, you are having a real experience, and some dreams even have an influence on the waking state.

But, unlike our dreams at night, this greater dream is much more complex with very consistent effects. Our entrance into the dream “occurred over millions of years” T-2.VIII.2 says the Course. What could have motivated us to have entered into such a bold, extensive and lengthy venture?

Many reading the Course come to the conclusion that the Son (us) just had a crazy idea in a moment where he wasn’t thinking straight, but the dream was over in an instant and all is back to normal in heaven.

But what is overlooked is the Son shares the mind and intelligence of God, so this plunge into time and space was not done thoughtlessly. Just look at the complexity of our DNA in just one of the trillions of cells within the body and ask yourself if this and all creations in this world were made by some mindless, thoughtless being?

There is obviously more to the story than just a small temporary lapse of judgment on the part of the Son. We’ll cover this next.

Passion of Christ Comments

Passion of Christ Comments

My wife and I finally went to see the movie “The Passion of the Christ” this evening – so I can now make some first hand comments on the film.

I have heard discussions around this film for almost a year now. Mel Gibson was attacked on this by the intelligencia of the world from the moment word got out that he was going to do it. Whenever I hear such attacks I immediately suspect that there is something positive behind that which is being attacked. This is especially true when the issue being attacked has anything to do with Christ, enlightenment, freedom or something that has the purpose of making our lives better.

DK states this important principle: “Perfection brings imperfection to the surface.” If you want to discover who it is in the world that are the true enemies of light just create a good work that will help the masses in some way. Each time such a good work is put forth the workers in the shadows will come forward and attack it without cause.

This is a different thing than just criticizing a movie or some other work. I am not talking about a mere sincere critique or disagreement, but an outright attack with intent to destroy.

As soon as Mel told of his plan to make this movie enemies came out of the woodwork and investigated his life, his family, his finances and his friends looking for dirt. The worst thing they could find at the time was some strange beliefs held by his father concerning the Jews. Because of his father they tried to label Gibson as an anti Semite from the beginning in the hope of destroying the film before it was even made.

When I saw this controversy I knew that the movie’s overall effect was going to be good, but it wasn’t until I saw it that I was able to put together the whole picture.

But, one may question, doesn’t the movie deal with the Piscean age principle of sacrifice with an appeal to those stuck in the past? Wouldn’t a truly enlightened movie deal with Aquarian principles?

The answer is that an inspired work will reveal truth whether it is Piscean or Aquarian, whether it deals with the past or the future.

The main principle humanity needed to learn from the Piscean age was indeed that of sacrifice. As we are currently moving away from Pisces into Aquarius humanity as a whole needs to take the true elements of the principle of sacrifice with them.

The Passion movie presents to the world the sacrifice of Jesus in a way that the average person can relate to. Even though elements of higher sacrifice may be omitted we must realize that any work of inspiration intended for the world at large must reach down to the heart of average humanity. This is what the Gibson movie has done. It took the physical sacrifice of Jesus and placed it brutally before the public in a way that reminds us of the total commitment that we also must have in times of great difficulty.

But – there is also an Aquarian message in this movie.

And what is that?

We must remember that the Christ is the messenger of salvation for not only the Piscean Age but the Aquarian. The day of the Second Coming will soon be upon us. What better way to stimulate the hearts of humanity in preparation for this great event than a potent reminder of the failure of humanity to understand and appreciate his presence in the first appearance?

I thought that one of the most potent moments of the film was when the High Priest commanded Jesus to tell them whether or not he be the Christ. In the Bible he basically says “You say I am,” but in the movie he says outright “I Am.” Then he follows the Bible script and says: “I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.” Matt 26:64

To the ears of the authorities this was a blatant admission that he was the Messiah.

The movie then closely follows the scripture that follows: “Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.

“What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death. Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands…” Matt 26:65-67

The movie then portrays something not given in the scriptures. After he gives what he sees as a simple statement of truth and the crowd totally rejects him and calls for his death we see a tear gently falling from the one eye of Jesus that is yet open.

That tear at that moment was a point of genius on the part of Gibson for it had to have produced a great effect for any seeker of truth. It made me feel what it must have been like to have been in his shoes, following the path of harmlessness, sincerely teaching the truth, yet being rejected and so severely attacked by those whom he came to serve.

Every teacher of truth must go through this moment of great emotion when he must face those who hate and despise him for merely turning on the light. When he who is pure in heart is rejected and spit upon by those whom he serves the heart within is stirred to mighty emotion indeed.

All the teachers of humanity do not suffer this rejection in the same way as did Jesus, but they face it nonetheless.

Overall, I see this movie as a spiritual stimulant for the planet. It reaches down to and touches the heart of the average man, many in the past who have been apathetic toward God and the spiritual life.

As with all good things that reach the masses there will be some who will be effected negatively to the extent that they will feel like crucifying anyone who challenges their image of Jesus. But the vast majority will merely do some extra reflection and look a little deeper into the message of Christ. Anything that causes people to think and discuss more deeply upon the message must be considered good.

That said I realize that many alternative spiritual seekers see anything that appeals to the Christian Fundamentalists as primitive and unenlightened but unrealized is that there are millions of sincere believers who need to be stimulated at the level of where they are, not where they are not. I am saying that this movie was a positive stimulation for them that they could relate to – plus it also has messages for those who consider themselves enlightened.

For some time now I have been listening to the critics of the movie. So when I went I watched the film carefully with the comments of the movie critics in mind. Here are some of the criticisms and my reply.

(1) The movie portrayed the Jews with pointed noses and ugly faces – an obvious bias against the Jews.

Response: Now I’ve seen the movie I find this to be a ridiculous criticism. I looked carefully at the noses and faces of the good guys, the bad guys, the Jewish leaders and the Romans and was amazed that anyone came up with this conclusion. It seemed to me that the Romans had more pronounced noses than the Jews and just as pointed. Also I thought the Romans were not as good looking as the Jews and many of them had terrible teeth.

(2) The Romans were portrayed as good guys and the Jews as bad guys – an obvious attempt at anti-Semitism.

Response: Only a portion of the Jews were portrayed as bad guys. Jesus, Mary and his disciples were all Jews and were good guys. On the other hand, I couldn’t find a single Roman that was portrayed as a good guy. Most of them were portrayed as cold-hearted and very cruel – relishing the opportunity to give out punishment. Even the worst of the Jews were pretty much played as doing their job, however mislead, in defending their faith.

(3) History records that Pilate was a very ruthless man who didn’t hesitate in putting people to death. This was not covered in the movie, thus whitewashing him.

Response: There was no reason to cover Pilate’s history. It would have been a major distraction to have done so and taken away from the beauty of the film. The audience was interested in Pilate’s reaction to Jesus and that is what they received.

It would also have been a distraction to have given historical background on Herod or any other Roman figure.

(4) Gibson just did this for the money.

Response: One has to be mean-spirited to make this accusation. The movie cost 25-30 million and advertising cost $15 million. That’s up to $40 million of his own money that he put at risk. Every Hollywood studio rejected this movie idea and laughed at the prospects of it making money. This was not what audiences wanted to see they said. Gibson did not care. He wanted to do a good work that would make a difference even if he lost money and put everything on the line. Perhaps even more at risk than money was his good name. Some felt he would never find work in Hollywood again.

When Gibson explains his motives in interviews it is obvious to all but the hard hearted that he is sincere and was willing to risk losing money and prestige to make the movie.

(5) The movie is movie about the wrath of God than the love of Christ.

Response: It is simply not true that the movie is about the wrath of God. It does not show God taking about any wrath on anyone. Instead Jesus asks God to forgive his tormentors.

The movie may not be about the wrath of God, but it does cover the wrath of mankind. It illustrates how religious zealotry when challenged can produce great wrath and anger in ordinary humans not used to a greater light.

It is true that the movie spends more time dealing with hatred of the light than the love of Christ, but those times when Jesus flashes back to loving moments brings the poignancy of love to the event.

(6) The movie is too violent

Response: I would say that a good portion of the violence was necessary for Gibson to produce the effect he desired, but not all. I think it would have been better if he had cut out about a third of the whippings and replaced then with more flashbacks to teachings.

(7) This movie is only interesting to the true believer.

Response: I would wager that many non believers with an open mind will find this movie interesting and well made. It will help them understand why many Christians take their faith so seriously.

(8) This movie will increase the persecution of the Jews world wide.

Response: Millions of people have now seen the movie and believe me the press is watching so carefully that if even one Christian were to foam at the mouth and attack Jews because of this movie it would have made the headlines all over.

There may be some justification of this fear in some foreign countries where Jews already are having difficulty, but I doubt that it will have much negative effect. When Schinder’s list played world wide we did not hear any reports of anyone attacking Germans because of the film. That is a sign that humanity is maturing somewhat.

Additional Comments.

I thought the film was well made. Gibson used camera angles, lighting and slow motion to produce just the effect he wanted. I thought the gothic look of the film made it interesting.

I thought all the acting was good except for Mary. She didn’t seem to portray the emotion of a mother watching her son being put to death. The one flashback to when she helped Jesus as a child when she was powerless to help him in the present was touching though.

I’ve always liked Jim Caviezel who played Jesus since I saw him in the movie Frequency with Dennis Quade.

I thought the casting for the character of the devil was very creative and interesting. It was a female who played the roll (they make good devils too lol) and was an interesting figure.

I know many wished Gibson would have spent more time on the resurrection, but I liked the way he handled it. He only gave a few seconds to Jesus rising from the tomb but the look on his face as he arose all healed (excepting the wounds in his hands) was worth a book. After the movie was over I reflected on the look on Jesus’ face, trying to put words to it and here was what I came up with.

“Here I am back in the land of the living. This is going to be interesting.”

Question on Perfection

Question on Perfection

A reader wrote me with some concern about one of the points from chapter two of my last book. The idea expressed there is that God is working out his own perfection in the body of this universe just as his reflections – you and me – are working out our imperfections within our own bodies.

He was reading the archives where I stated the following:

“The key to Soul contact is to remember that there is a perfect God that is omnipresent and is therefore in our neighbor as well as ourselves. We must look beyond the deception of division and imperfection and always put our attention on the God Presence. This will cause our energy to reach the God Presence in others and ourselves and we will sense the union of our Souls no matter how irritating a fellow brother or sister may be. As soon as we feel any irritation, we must shift our attention to the fact of the God Presence. Since energy follows thought, there is then a shift of energy and a degree of Soul contact is achieved.”

The question is, does not this teaching of a perfect God within contradict the teachings of the last chapter about an evolving God, or one who is Becoming?

The answer is no and the reason is found in the principle of spiritual relativity.

On other occasions I have taught that there is no such thing as any ultimate perfection in the worlds of time and space. Instead of reaching some plateau where one can go no further we reach a perfection relative to the circumstances around us, but never relative to all possibilities of existence. In other words, we never reach ultimate perfection, or a perfection where greater fullness is not possible.

There are many lives who have passed beyond the human kingdom and understand all the workings, frailties and possibilities that lie before us. That which is called the Holy Spirit comprehends through a great spiritual internet all the principles involved with human evolution. The Spirit thus circulates in all of us and can be contacted, or tapped into, when certain veils of illusion are transcended. This presence of God within each one of us is as perfect as is possible to define the term in relation to the human kingdom.

The interesting thing is even when the Holy Spirit is contacted and intelligence is received on a human level perfection is rarely the result.

Why?

Because we as imperfect humans can take the most flawless revelation and still bungle it up because of our flawed nature.

Even though the Spirit of God is perfect from our viewpoint – for it always leads us in the better of the two paths which lie before us – it is progressing on its own plane and moving through the body of humanity toward a goal unknown to us. Because we are a part of his body, and humanity is not perfect, then, even God manifesting through mankind does not yet manifest in perfection.

Thus we see that perfection is relative. To your faithful dog you are perfect and are always right, but to yourself you have a long way to go. If the average seeker were to sit at the feet of an advanced master he may be struck with awe at his perfected ways, but to the mind of the master, he himself is struggling imperfectly with his next step.

DK makes an interesting point about some seeming contradictions that appear in inspired teachings. He tells is that when a high level of truth is given out that human words are often inadequate in conveying the full meaning. The result is that a teacher may appear to contradict himself at different times. The truth is that he is not in contradiction, but in different modes of presentation – and he will be capable of explaining the contradiction so the principles behind the teachings are in harmony.

Accuser of the Brethren

A reader who disagreed with many of my teachings accused me of teaching falsehoods and being in league with the dark side. He caused quite a stir among the group. Here was my response.

Sorry my teachings fill you with such rage that you have to lash out and accuse. Let me see.. Who is called the accuser of the brethren? Yes, here it is in Rev 12:10. Satan is called the “accuser of our brethren… which accused them before our God day and night.”

This is one of the differences between light and dark. The dark accuse without logic or reason and curse the darkness. They have nothing with which to back their accusations excepting their own dogma. Those in the light teach “things that are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Phil 4:8 These are those who light a candle.

Come up higher my friend and cease your accusations. Let us reason together. If I be in error do not lash out but illustrate the error in a spirit of love, not diabolical accusation.

I give you or anyone else this challenge. If I am a false teacher working for the Dark Brothers then my ultimate purpose has to be to enslave and deceive.

Look through the millions of words I have written and find one teaching that leads to less freedom or one time that I have deceived. If you cannot do this then you should cease your accusations.

The world moves with motiveless necessity. By this is meant that it has no motive of its own, but is under the necessity of manifesting your concept, the arrangement of your mind, and your mind is always arranged in the image of all you believe and consent to as true. Neville

Identifying the New Slaves

Identifying the New Slaves

Reader Comment: Your comments gave me a lot to think about. After reading and rereading your latest post, I can honestly say, I do not understand the blur principle very well. The seniors drug analogy you have used in concert with the civil war slavery issue do not seem complementary to me. Their is something amiss about the comparison, but I cannot quite put my finger on it.

JJ: First let me restate the Blur Principle. “The deceived person looks at freedom only as it applies to him and not as it applies to the whole. If an act or a law brings him more freedom at the greater expense of the group, his vision becomes blurred through selfishness. Because he seems to be more free he thinks he is fighting for the cause of freedom. The illusion is that if the freedom of the whole is diminished then the body becomes sick and when the whole dies the individual dies also. Then his little grip on individual freedom comes to an end.”

As I said earlier, the problem with slavemasters is that they experience greater freedom (on a temporary basis) through the incorporation of the slavery principle which principle is always blurred by those who are the beneficiaries.

The slavemasters in the Old South saw the benefits and enhanced freedom they experienced through the forced labor of the slaves and rejoiced in a system that they saw as “fair” to themselves, the general populace and, of course, the slaves.

Illusionary benefits of slavery were such things as:

(1) Slaves helped the children. Slaves assisted in the care and nurturing of children. Some children would have to do without lunch if it were not for their help.

(2) Slaves helped the Elderly. Grandma and Grandpa often had difficulty taking care of themselves and the slaves provided the much needed labor to take care of them, provide them medicine and help extend their lives.

(3) There were fewer poor among the populace because of the labor performed by the slaves.

(4) The slaves, after all, were merely paying “their fair share” for their privilege of rubbing shoulders with their more enlightened masters and liberators. Without the slavemasters the slaves would be lost, without purpose and unable to sustain themselves.

The people in the Old South posted the following questions to those who challenged them.

Who wants to be against the children?

Who wants to be against the elderly?

Who wants the poor to suffer even more?

Why should we free the slaves when none would benefit, not even the slaves?

Today, looking back, many are mystified as to why the southern states were so attached to keeping the institution of slavery when it is so obvious to us that it is just plain wrong. Why was it not obvious to them? Hopefully, the above points will give us a glimpse into the why. The majority of the individuals who had the vote benefited through the practice and this caused a blur over their vision as to the damage they were inflicting not only on the slaves, but on the whole of the body – which was doomed to destruction if it continued.

But the interesting thing is today we are in the same situation, but on a higher turn of the spiral with the names and circumstances changed, but with the slavery principle held intact.

This time instead of making slaves of a race of people who are the poorest among us, the slaves are the middle class who are fairly prosperous.

The key element the two groups have in common is that they are both the producers of society, the ones who cause the machinery of production to turn.

The problem that creates the present illusion is this. It was wrong to force labor from the slaves because they were poor and uneducated, but it is good force those who have abundance to give of their goods and services because they have more than they need. This is only “fair.”

When one looks at this reasoning from an enlightened angle it is warped indeed.

Is it wrong to demand ransom from a poor man but good to do it to a prosperous one?

Is it wrong to steal from a poor man but good to do it to a richer man?

Is it wrong to demand free labor from a poor man but good to do one not so poor?

It is equally wrong to do evil to both groups. It just does not seem as bad to do it to the more prosperous because we do not take all they have (yet).

The modern slavemasters do not realize that by stealing from the middle class today they are also stealing from the poor because the producers do much more to benefit the poor than does the government.

And speaking of this it is interesting to examine the institution of slavery as it existed in ancient Rome and Greece. Many slaves were allowed to own their own businesses as long as they gave their masters 50% of their income. Some of these slaves became quite wealthy in their own right despite their situation.

All those in the higher income bracket today pay more than 50% of their income to their master – the various governments (when all taxes are considered.) The difference between us and the ancients is that they knew what slavery was. They called a spade a spade. They knew that when one was forced to give 50% of his income that would classify him as a slave. Today things are too blurred for people to recognize this – even many of the victims.

Now let us get back to your point:

“The seniors drug analogy you have used in concert with the civil war slavery issue do not seem complementary to me. Their is something amiss about the comparison…”

JJ: Something seems amiss because the parallel is not exact. For one thing, the prescription drug benefit paid for through forced labor contribution is only one small part of our slave labor benefits. We cannot just take one small part of the problem and compare it to the whole of the civil war slavery issue. We could compare it to the benefit the South received by using their slaves to care for their elderly. We are also talking about a class of people rather than a race, but the principle of slavery is there, blurred by the issues of benevolent purpose, in both cases.

DK calls evil “misplaced or maladjusted good.” Esoteric Healing, Pg. 587

The fight of evil by the Hierarchy is to “liberate the good, free the beautiful, release the true and ‘immure in prison under seal’ that which is not good, that which breeds ugliness and hate, and that which distorts the truth and lies about the future.” Rays and Initiations, Pg. 752

It is interesting that one of the evils fought by the Hierarchy is that which “lies about the future.”

The tax and benevolent spending program we have started out as a lie about the future. The initial tax was only 1% on the top earning 1% and the lie was that this new system was going to continue to be harmless and only slightly effect a small minority. Now the lie continues. As government grows we are told that only a few of the rich will be effected by the cost of new benevolent programs. We are led to believe that benefits can increase forever because the rich have unlimited funds which can be confiscated. The rich always have more than they need.

The truth about the future is this. As confiscation of the production of those who make the country work continues, a point of tension is eventually reached. At that point the whole system begins to die or emergency surgery must be performed and the cancer of the new slavery be removed and replaced by a free circulation of the life force.

Some may read my last few posts and think that I am against social programs that help the poor and misfortunate. This is not correct. This is like saying that The Northern States were against children and the elderly who were cared for by the slaves.

Remember the words of DK. Evil is “misplaced or maladjusted good.” I am against the maladjusted good of the current system that employs slaves whether they be rich or poor. I am for assisting the helpless through the free will of the majority of those who are effected.

Those who are incurring the benefits of the modern slavery should have no vote as to how much is extracted from a group of which they are not a part. The producers alone should decide on how they wish to assist and how much. All should be done by the free will of those who are involved.

When one class who is receiving can dictate to another class who is forced to give you have slavery, pure and simple.

Reader Comment: But how do you change a system that has become self-sustaining and self-perpetuating? Politicians won’t do it and nor will the general population as the slave owners would not permit it. It seems like the only way to overcome the problem is to scrap everything and start again. I guess that’s where those who are going to be involved in the Gathering can create a new paradigm for the organization of society.

JJ: As you know, the world will not end however things go. There are two major probabilities that lie ahead.

(1) The path of slavery increases until even average citizens realize something is very wrong and the foundation on which Western Civilization is build begins to collapse.

To prepare for building a new a better world the lights must prepare for a great gathering which will create a new and better system of government that will prevent the world from descending into chaos.

(2) Implement positive change in the various governments of the earth.

So far there are many seeking change but it is usually change for the worse, not the better.

If the lights can step forward and motivate the people to change their governments then the Gathering of Lights can work with existing change to assist in the developing new age. This is the preferable alternative.

So far the lights have not done the required foundation work. Many of those with missions have gotten sidetracked into illusionary paths which have accomplished little or nothing.

It is time to act, but those who are willing know not the marching orders and not sure how to make a positive impact.

To this end I am putting together a plan that I will shortly write in a book called Fixing America. Hopefully that can inspire positive change. It would be nice if humanity would learn its lessons so it doesn’t have to be hit over the head with an Apocalypse to cause them to change.

I have seen the possibilities and change is possible. There is nothing too good to be true.

Finding the Blur

Finding the Blur

Reader Comment: I have been thinking about seniors and their subsidized drug plan. Is this really an example of the Blur Principle?

Now, many governments in the West make these seniors drug plans apart of their platforms before being elected. One could argue that they have a mandate to carry out these subsidized plans because the electorate have given their approval at the ballot box. One could argue that all government programs mentioned in platforms beforehand have been approved by the will of the people. Only those programs initiated without a clear mandate (or prior approval of the people via the ballot box) can be defined as the Blur Principle.

Question? Do we define the Blur Principle as being the permission of each individual in society or the entire body politic?

JJ: Just because our representatives vote on a matter does not mean that the will of the people is represented. If you read my treatise on Molecular Politics you will see that the main point there is that the true will of the people is rarely carried out under the current system because of various external influences.

If the prescription drug program here in the United States were presented for a popular vote I do not think it would have passed. I am not sure about Canada, however.

Beyond this an important point is that the majority rarely see through all the illusions involved. For instance, a recent poll tells us that 61% of the American people believe that the earth was created in just seven days. It is indeed amazing that the majority can be so far removed from reality in view of all the scientific evidence, but in this case they are definitely victims of the blur principle. (Note: by 2020 that figure was down to 40%)

In the past I have taught that the path of safety in government is to work with the will of the majority. Some thought that I was saying that the majority always follows the most correct path, but those who believe such totally misinterpreted what I was saying. The majority are often deceived in some way and the blur principle always works on them to some degree.

For instance, the majority in the Old South accepted slavery as well as the majority living in the Roman Empire. This did not mean the majority was right, but the majority do have an elementary common sense that usually is superior to those in government and must be worked with to create real change.

Even so, you do state a true principle. If the majority of a group do give their voice then the body does have the right to proceed in the direction of that voice, even if that direction is in error.

As I said about this prescription drug thing, the true voice of the people has not been heard. Most polls in the U.S. showed the majority were against it. Unfortunately, as time passes, the majority begin to partake of the free gifts and want them to continue even if done so on borrowed money.

The fact then that the majority support a thing is not a sign that the blur principle has been transcended. Instead, the majority evolve through teachers who see where the blur is and reveal the truth with clarity to the masses. The virtue of the majority is that when they see the truth they will eventually support it in most cases.

All civilization has a major problem facing them which is a new kind of slavery. Those who receive benefits from the governments and give little or nothing back are able to vote and tell those who are paying the bill (the new slaves) how much they have to pay and how the money is to be spent.

Federal taxes emerged in this country in 1913. Before that (excepting a couple national emergencies) we prospered as never before with no income tax. The imposed income tax seemed really harmless for it was sold as a tax only on the wealthy. Only the top 1% of the people paid a small 1% average tax. 99% paid nothing. Even the rich did not complain much for 1% seemed like a harmless amount and the 99% were happy to spend that 1% confiscated from the wealthy.

As time progressed it seemed very harmless to add an additional 1% tax here and 1% there. After all, there were more than enough good causes to go around. They also added additional taxpayers here and there and this done incrementally seemed harmless because the tax burden seemed fair.

The problem is that the tax system is like a cancer which, if allowed to grow without restriction, it will eventually consume and destroy the body.

Now, if we add state, sales, federal, social security taxes, tariffs, media, production, licenses etc. all pay more than was dreamed of 100 years ago, the average pay over 50% of their income.

As far as federal taxes go we are indeed in a precarious situation for the lower earning half pay less than 4% of the taxes, even with Bush’s tax cut for the so-called rich. If we cut the federal burden for the lower 50% then they will be paying nothing at all and could care less about the government raising taxes on the middleclass slaves while the super rich find ways to avoid their share.

Where will it end?

There is no end to good causes. I could think of dozens within minutes that would sound like a good reason to raise taxes even more. Let’s give a couple more billion to cancer and AIDS research. It just requires the rich to pay a few more taxes and anyone that fights this idea is small minded indeed.

The trouble is that there is no end to benevolent projects that will eventually destroy us financially if common sense is not applied.

An example of the problem is the controversy over the school lunch problem a few years ago. The Republicans wanted to raise the school lunch budget by 4.5% according to their figures and 2.5% according to the Democrat’s math. The Democrats wanted to raise it more than the Republicans so they accused the Republicans of wanting to “cut” school lunches and “starve” the children. The truth was that the budget was going to be increased no matter which party prevailed and all children were going to be provided for as well as ever even taking into consideration that there was a 2.9% rate of inflation in that year.

The blur principle went to work in the press and the general public became so alarmed and polarized that Newt Gingrich lost his job as speaker largely over this issue. If the general public were correctly informed that the school lunch program was not going to be cut the whole thing would have been a non issue.

The school lunch program is just another example of the blur principle at work. Who in his right mind wants to be accused of wanting to starve children. Hell, yes, let’s tax the rich and feed those poor children.

But let us look back to when I was a kid and we had no school lunch program at all. If the kid did not buy lunch or bring one from home he starved right?

Wrong. For a number of years I was the poorest kid in my school. We lived in a one room shack that was about ready to fall apart and my Dad left us to mine for gold in Central America and never saw or heard of him again for years leaving us to make money by picking fruit and working in the nearby orchards. Even in this situation I never saw myself as poor and never did without. I always had a lunch to eat in school and so did every other kid. The thought that we needed someone to pay for our lunches would have made us laugh.

My mom got a seasonal job at minimum wage and bought a house. Just as we were getting on our feet I created a set back for us. At age 13 I was making rockets and had one blow up in my left hand. I had an 8 hour surgery requiring 120 stitches and was in the hospital for a month followed up by five more surgeries and two more months in the hospital. The cost of my room there was a whopping $8.00 a day.

Consider this. My mom with making minimum wage in a potato factory and paid off the entire doctor and hospital bill with no help from insurance.

Can you imagine a single mother with no welfare and a minimum wage job doing that today???

Which system would you rather live in? One where the poorest of people can pay off expensive surgery and a month’s stay in a hospital or one where we are taxed to death for hospital benefits and we are still soaked for medical bills?

The illusion we have before us is created because the current situation was created through many small seemingly harmless increments in encroachment on personal financial freedom.

Many complain about big oil but consider this. In 1958, when I had my accident, the cost of my hospital room was $8.00 a day and the cost of a gallon of gas was 40 cents. Today the cost of a hospital room is over $1000 a day (over $3000 in 2021) . If the cost of gas had increased at the same rate as a hospital room what then would we be paying at the pump?

Answer: About $50 a gallon.

Question: Who should we really be grumbling at? Big oil or big hospital?

The answer is neither. It’s the government’s meddling in our medical affairs that has caused the majority of the problem.

Witness the blur principle at work again.

Who is grumbling at the real cause of our problem? Me and about a half dozen others.

There is a lot of blur going on here that is obfuscating the real truth behind the problems of the day and I will be write a book presenting some major solutions on the matter before we reach the point of self destruction.

Questions from reader: I have a few questions, if anyone can assist in answering them for me. You quoted this scripture:

“Let this mind be in you, which was in Christ Jesus: who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God.” Phil 2:5-6

Shouldn’t that read ……..who being the THOUGHTform of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God.

One in *thought* with God seems to equal being one with God and on equal par to God.

JJ: The scriptures say what they say. Right or wrong Paul used the Greek word MORPHE here. (Guess what English word comes from this?) In the Greek it literally means “form” or “appearance.”

When the scripture tells us that man was made in the “image” of God (literally “the Gods”) it again has several levels of interpretation. The common metaphysical interpretation is that we have within us the reflection of all the qualities, powers and attributes of the Big Guy. But those who were students of the Old Testament also had an interpretation that dealt with the form. That is Adam’s physical form was also in the image of God who was also seen as being in the form of man.

For instance, in the creation story we are told that God was “walking in the garden in the cool of the day.” Gen 3:8

Later God appeared to Abraham and ate dinner with him. After this God appeared to Jacob and wrestled with him. Then we have the description of God from Moses on the mount who saw his human form except for his face.

The human form is the most perfect of all the physical creations of God and is the form used by the gods themselves when appearing in the lower worlds.

Paul was thus stating the belief that Jesus found himself in human form, but since he was also in the same form the Gods (or Elohiym) use then he thought it not robbery to be equal with God in the other attributes that transcend form.

Comment: You say, “A thought originates from the eternal world of principles, which has no beginning and no end”

Why does a principle have no beginning and no end? Isn’t a principle something that was created in the first place by God or something above Him for us? If we exist as BE CAUSE, then when did the Principles appear? Before or after BE CAUSE? (Did that make sense to anyone? Its hard for me to put this question into coherent words.)

JJ: A principle is not created. A principle is always present and always works without beginning or end.

Take the principle of cause and effect. Was there ever a time that it did not work? Cause and effect has always been here and always will.

Take another principle:

“If there is no beginning there will be no end.”

No one created this, it just exists past present and future.

Take a look at any true principle and you will see it had no creation, but just always is and always works and cannot be destroyed.

Comment: Then you say, “…God will rest and prepare to create again. Then it will again go through cycles of imperfect creation until the final perfection is achieved”

If the final perfection is achieved, then how can that perfection still be eternal? If the eternal quest is for perfection, then when perfection is reached then its the end, but perfection shouldn’t have an end, except that which surpasses perfection? So are you saying that when the final perfection has been achieved, then its time to rest, and start all over again on some other imperfect thoughtform, and change that into another perfected form?

JJ: By final perfection it is meant the final perfection of a round of creation. This is like saying the final destination of my trip is Las Vegas. This does not mean he will not have another destination after the trip is over.

In each round of creation a final relative perfection is achieved. This means that intelligent application to the form can make no further improvement. The atomic world has achieved this. The proton cannot be improved and its evolution has received what we call “relative perfection.”

The Mysteries of A Course in Miracles, Chapter 7

Chapter Seven
Mind, Spirit, Thought and Ideas

Mind, Spirit, Thought and Ideas

We have covered Course teachings on the celestial lives of the Trinity and angels, but what are the principles behind the great mystery of such lives and creation itself? This quote from the course certainly gives pause for reflection:

“God is an idea, and so your faith in Him is strengthened by sharing. What you find difficult to accept is the fact that, like your Father, you are an idea.” T-15.VI.4

Not only is God and us (the Son) ideas, but so is the Holy Spirit:

“The Holy Spirit is the idea of healing. Being thought, the idea gains as it is shared. Being the Call for God, it is also the idea of God. Since you are part of God it is also the idea of yourself, as well as of all His creations.” T-5.III.1

So the Holy Spirit and the Son (you and me) are ideas from God? What then would be the source of the idea of God and what exactly would that be?

First, we must become clear what an idea is and where it originates. The Course rings true when it says “Ideas are of the mind.” T-26.VII.4 “every idea begins in the mind of the thinker. Therefore, what extends from the mind is still in it, and from what it extends it knows itself.” T-6.III.1

It even goes so far to say that “Everything is an idea.” T-5.I.2

“Every idea has a purpose, and its purpose is always the natural outcome of what it is.” T-11.V.5.

The course repeatedly makes the statement that “ideas leave not their source.” This seems kind of odd reasoning since it certainly appears in this world that ideas do leave their source. For instance, the car you drive is the manifestation of many ideas from diverse individuals, and there it sits in your garage separated from the source of those who came up with the ideas that created it.

And how about you? You are currently in a body, maybe sitting in a chair, and separated from any intelligence that came up with the idea that is you.

This is incorrect thinking says the Course:

“Ideas leave not their source, and their effects but seem to be apart from them. Ideas are of the mind. What is projected out, and seems to be external to the mind, is not outside at all, but an effect of what is in, and has not left its source. … God wills you learn what always has been true: that He created you as part of Him, and this must still be true because ideas leave not their source.” T-26.VII.4

So, your car which “seems to be external to the mind, is not outside at all” according to the Course. It tells us that everything in creation is composed of ideas sent forth by the mind. Many of these ideas seem to be external because we see them as such. This is an illusion because everything you see is projected by the mind.

So what mind is projecting your car?

This would be the collective mind of the Son of God, which includes all of us as a united life. The car is our idea. It is not there in the true reality, but seems to be there because we project it through the unlimited power of the mind.

And not only is your car an illusion projected by our group mind but so also is our whole world and everything in it. It tells us that our “world … is not here, although it seems to be.” W-pI.155.1

You dwell not here, but in eternity. You travel but in dreams, while safe at home.” T-13.VII.17

So, if you dream of a car in the garage, the car is not really there, but merely a projection of the mind. This is the case with what we think is our waking state, but instead of experiencing a dream by yourself alone, you are experiencing a group dream of collective minds united with the idea of the creator Son.

The strongest emphasis around this idea is centered on us as creations or ideas in the mind of God. If we only appear to be here and have not left our Source, then where are we?

We are told that we dwell in “eternity… safe at home” even as we appear to be here. This is because “God has given you a place in His Mind that is yours forever.” T-11.I.6

So then, the real part of ourselves has not left our Source, God, but the dreaming part of ourselves thinks we are here in this world. Everything in this world is an idea from our collective mind that exists within, but is projected without.

To awaken and see the true reality, you need “to return your whole mind to God, because it has never left Him. If it has never left Him, you need only perceive it as it is to be returned.” T-6.II.10

All ideas then come from mind, and all mind is linked to God. From what we are told, all ideas from mind in the state of wholeness were perfect and good except for one. In this state of wholeness the mind of the Second Aspect of the Trinity, the Son, came up with a bad idea. In fact, it was such a bad idea it was called a “mad idea.” How a mad idea could have even originated in a creation from a perfect being is not explained by the Course, but merely lets us know that it happened and resulted in the making of this imperfect universe with its pains sorrows and death that runs contrary to the will of heaven.

This mad idea caused the mind to split into what some call the higher and lower mind. The higher mind is still linked to God and is in oneness with Him. This mind only comes up with good ideas in harmony with Higher Will. The lower mind is linked to this world, is cut off from God, and comes up with all kinds of bad ideas not in harmony with heaven.

We are told that “You have made many ideas that you have placed between yourself and your Creator, and these beliefs are the world as you perceive it.” 11.VII.4

There are many bad ideas that we have in this world, but there are three particularly egregious ones according to the Course.

The first is our creation of the ego which supports the idea of separation from God. It says, “All that the ego is, is an idea that it is possible that things could happen to the Son of God without his will; and thus without the Will of his Creator.” T-21.II.6

The second is the creation of our bodies with the idea of restricting our consciousness to such a limited and separative condition.

“The ego regards the body as its home, and tries to satisfy itself through the body. But the idea that this is possible is a decision of the mind, which has become completely confused about what is really possible. “T-4.II.7

The third particularly bad and false idea is the ego’s version of God as an angry, punishing revengeful being “having made him out of your insanity, he is an insane idea. He has many forms, but although he may seem to be many different things he is but one idea;–the denial of God.” T-10.V.3

Ideas, then are created by thought, and thought comes from mind. Since God is an idea, we can conclude that the life of God and all extensions, such as you and I, came from the thought of one great universal mind. We could say that the idea of God is a thought that correlates to the Universal Mind from whence all thought and ideas originate.

Indeed, mind and thought are linked to life itself: “If I did not think I would not exist, because life is thought, “says the Course. W-pI.54.2.

Thought is behind all existence, even that of God, and may be one reason even He is called an idea.

So then, behind all existence we have ideas, for “Everything is an idea.” Ideas come from thought, and thought comes from mind. The fourth ingredient in the scheme of things is Spirit. Where does it enter in and does it proceed mind?

It appears that mind and Spirit are closely related, are interdependent, and are both essential elements behind the creation of all things. They are not exactly the same, however. The biggest difference is that Spirit is perfect and unchangeable, whereas mind is capable of error since it is active in generating thought.

This quote reveals the difference between the two:

“Spirit is therefore unalterable because it is already perfect, but the mind can elect what it chooses to serve. The only limit put on its choice is that it cannot serve two masters. If it elects to do so, the mind can become the medium by which spirit creates along the line of its own creation. If it does not freely elect to do so, it retains its creative potential but places itself under tyrannous rather than Authoritative control. As a result it imprisons, because such are the dictates of tyrants.” T-1.V.5

Consequently, the mind can choose between two masters and can even come up with a mad and crazy idea, whereas Spirit is static and perfect and never deviates from its high state. “The mind is capable of illumination. Spirit is already illuminated,” T-2.V.6 says the Course.

We are told that “Spirit is the Thought of God which He created like Himself.” C-1.1

The difference between Mind and Spirit is that “Only the mind can create because spirit has already been created.” T-2.IV.3

Even though mind is the creative and thinking force, it is dependent on Spirit for its power.

“Yet mind apart from spirit cannot think. It has denied its Source of strength, and sees itself as helpless, limited and weak.” W-pI.96.5

So, Mind introduced the “mad idea” to make a universe out of reach from Spirit, and then lost its ability to think accurately, thus becoming “limited.”

It comes down to this:

“Only the mind is capable of error.” T-2.IV.2 “It is essential to remember that only the mind can create, and that correction belongs at the thought level. To amplify an earlier statement, spirit is already perfect and therefore does not require correction.” T-2.V.1

So then, it boils down to this. The prime stabilizing force in the universe is pure spirit which is perfect and never deviates from this perfection. On the other hand, the mind is the creative force and creativity demands choice, which makes duality possible along with the possibility of good and bad choices.

The interdependence of the mind and Spirit is interesting:

“The term mind is used to represent the activating agent of spirit, supplying its creative energy.” C-1.1

“Spirit makes use of mind as means to find its Self expression. And the mind which serves the spirit is at peace and filled with joy. Its power comes from spirit, and it is fulfilling happily its function here.” W-pI.96.3.

An important realization concerning the universal mind which we all share is that it is a source of unlimited power of creation, for we “are of one mind and spirit with Him. (God)” T-5.VII.3 and “The mind that serves the spirit is invulnerable.” T 1 B 28c

This great power is used for extending God’s creation when in harmony with Spirit, but when out of sync it can lose contact with Spirit and “you have used your own mind, which He created in the likeness of His Own, to miscreate.” T-3.II.4 The problem is that mind still has this unlimited power even when going in the wrong direction.

For instance, when the Son made his greatest mistake and got his “mad idea” we are told that: “In his forgetting did the thought become a serious idea, and possible of both accomplishment and real effects.” T-27.VIII.6

The creation of illusion is no small matter, as noted here: “The thoughts you hold are mighty, and illusions are as strong in their effects as is the truth.” W-pI.132.1

One of the effects was the creation of the Ego, the self that has no contact with Spirit, but still uses Mind. Concerning this ego Helen’s original transcription reveals this:

“It may surprise you to learn that had the ego willed to do so, it COULD have made the eternal, because, as a product of the mind, it IS endowed with the power of its own creator. But the DECISION to do this, rather than the ABILITY to do it is what the ego cannot tolerate. That is because the decision, from which the ability would naturally develop, would necessarily involve true perception, a state of clarity which the ego, fearful of being judged truly, MUST avoid.” UR T 4 F 13

So even the ego, the false self, because it is “a product of the mind,” has great power to create and is only limited by its own self-deception.

We as Sons of God who have fallen asleep to higher reality are also asleep to the power of mind within us. We are told:

“The mind is very powerful, and never loses its creative force. It never sleeps. Every instant it is creating. It is hard to recognize that thought and belief combine into a power surge that can literally move mountains.” T-2.VI.9

However, the real power is manifest when we link up with other minds in harmony with Higher Will:

“Alone we can do nothing, but together our minds fuse into something whose power is far beyond the power of its separate parts. By not being separate, the Mind of God is established in ours and as ours. This Mind is invincible because it is undivided.” T-8.V.1

In conclusion, we have Mind and Spirit producing thought and ideas by which all things are created. We wake up to their correct use when we realize that ideas in the mind of God, such as you and me, do not leave their source.

The Blur Principle

The Blur Principle

In this age have the many fighting for illusionary freedom that leads to bondage and only a few who are willing to raise the banner for true freedom.

So where are those fighting for illusionary freedom and where are those fighting for true freedom? What separates the illusion from the reality today?

It is interesting that since I brought up the subject of the astral civil war I have heard a half dozen commentators talk about this. Until I brought up the subject I had never heard a mainstream media person comment on the current division in this manner.

Of course, the media is not reading the Keys, but what I believe to be happening is a crystallization of the current situation so a coming conflict is becoming very apparent in the astral ethers. As I have previously taught the future is very malleable, but as we approach certain cycles the immediate future becomes more predictable.

The current issue of gay marriage with the mayor of San Francisco giving out marriage certificates is almost like a pearl harbor in the astral realm. Now Bush seeking for a Constitutional Amendment which defines marriage has drawn a line in the sand. The people of this country are indeed lining up on one side or the other with great fervor.

In addition to this the release of Mel Gibson’s movie The Passion of Christ is adding additional polarization. Traditional Christians are calling this a great movie producing one of the most touching experiences of their lives while anti-religionists are calling it a terrible revolting movie and have been criticizing it for a year without even seeing it. The New York Times just gave it a scathing review and Andy Rooney called Mel Gibson “God’s mistake” and made fun of the movie.

Not all the establishment are negative. Ebert and Roper gave it their highest rating – “two thumbs way up.”

It seems that when these divisive issues come up, even though the subject matter is different, that the two groups lining up on both sides of the trenches are the same characters – with a few exceptions.

So what is the key that defines the true Middle Way path and the real and not illusionary freedom?

We pointed out earlier that both sides of the U.S. Civil War fought in the name of freedom. It is easy for most of us today to see that the enslavement of a people has nothing to do with freedom, but in that day the vision of the people of the South was very blurred on the matter.

The interesting thing is that the very principle that blurred the vision of the Old South still blurs the vision of the people today.

And what is that principle?

Perhaps we could call this the “Blur Principle” since it has caused so much illusion and conflict in the history of the world. We could state this principle as follows:

The deceived person looks at freedom only as it applies to the individual and not as it applies to the whole. If an act or a law brings him or her more freedom at the greater expense of the group, the vision becomes blurred through selfishness. Because he seems to be more free he thinks he is fighting for the cause of freedom. The illusion is that if the freedom of the whole is diminished then the body becomes sick and when the whole dies the individual dies also. Then his little grip on individual freedom comes to an end.

Now let us see how this applied to the first Civil War. Slave owners represented a minority, but they were rich and powerful people, many with large payrolls. The slaves gave them greater financial freedom. These individuals selfishly benefited at the expense of the health of the whole and thus their vision of true freedom was blurred.

The Blur Principle applies in many situations today. In the United States presently there are close to having 50% of the population who pay no federal income tax. These people are able to vote and tell those who do pay taxes how much they have to pay and how the money is to be spent. If the person gets more money from the government than he pays in he sees this benefit through the Blur Principle as a greater freedom to him as the individual, even though he is restricting the greater freedom of the group.

If we had a fair tax system where those who pay are not feeling like they are being robbed (and their taxes well spent) then those who benefit would not be taking freedom away from the whole.

The spending of other people’s money without their permission is the making use of their labor as slaves just as sure as did the south used the labor of their slaves before the civil war. The argument is the same: “I get money from the government (which gets it from slave labor) and this gives me or my group more freedom. Therefore this is a good thing.

Those who benefit from the slave labor are not only the lower income, but those in the higher income brackets. The rich often are able to get away with paying little or no tax and thus benefit from the taxes paid on the hard working middle class, some of them working two or three jobs just to survive and pay their taxes.

Many of the rich today are like the old plantation owners who benefit from the labor of others but do not pay their share of the costs.

We thus have a situation where the upper class not only have the influence of their vote but influence through their wealth to control the labor of others. The lower income merely have their vote, but are generally happy to get whatever Uncle Sam is willing to give out.

“It is good that senior citizens get free prescription drugs. This gives them more freedom,” says one who agrees with the system.

That would be fine if it could be paid for under a fair tax system that was agreed upon by the majority of actual taxpayers. But the money is taken from slave labor that takes financial freedom away from more people than the prescription drug program helps.

Here we have a corresponding situation that occurred in the Old South:

“It is good that our senior citizens have slaves to help nurse them in their old age. This gives them greater freedom.”

But at what cost? Slave labor – labor not given voluntarily – against the will of an important part of the whole.

Well did Isaiah speak of our age:

“For thus saith the LORD, Ye have sold yourselves for naught; and ye shall be redeemed without money. For thus saith the Lord GOD, My people went down aforetime into Egypt to sojourn there; and the Assyrian oppressed them without cause. Now therefore, what have I here, saith the LORD, that my people is taken away for nought? they that rule over them make them to howl, saith the LORD; and my name continually every day is blasphemed.” Isaiah 52:4-5

Here we are told of our day where the lights of the earth will have sold themselves into a different kind of slavery and “they that rule over them make them to howl.”

Assignment:

Try and think of other situations where the Blur Principle applies.

I was asked about this quote from DK as to whether the next teaching will be given through AAB in a future life or through someone else.

“In the next century and early in the century an initiate will appear and will carry on this teaching. It will be under the same ‘impression,’ for my task is not yet completed and this series of bridging treatises between the material knowledge of man and the science of the initiates has still another phase to run.” Rays and Initiations, Page 255

I can’t find the reference, but I remember DK saying that he definitely would not use AAB as his scribe after 2025. He seemed to leave it open-ended. It’s even possible he will be here in the flesh and do his own

“Under the same impression” seems to not mean the same relationship would be re-established in 2025, or the first of the century..

“Under the same impression” could mean a number of other things:

(1) DK showing up in person

(2) DK working through another scribe.

(3) Another disciple coming forth in tune with DK’s work and expanding on it but not receiving directly from him. This could be preparatory to the 2025 revelation. Note he said “early in the century.” That would probably be in the first 25 years or so.

“A man can receive nothing (no thing) except it be given him from Heaven.” Remember heaven is your consciousness; the kingdom of Heaven is within you.” Neville

Stelle and Reincarnation

Stelle and Reincarnation

In a recent post a member tells us he was involved with Richard Kieninger’s group. Richard is the author of The Ultimate Frontier and founder of the Stelle Group in Illinois and later The Adelphi Organization in Quinlan, Texas.

In his book, first published in 1963, he described a number of meetings with the Brotherhood of Light where he was given a numerous teachings and assignments.

He was told to build a city called Stelle in Illinois to prepare for a cataclysm which would come around 1977. He was told that it would soon reach a population of 250,000.

Richard was asked to leave his own group twice. He blamed his loss of power on conspiracies within, but those who tried him for memberships claimed sexual indiscretions.

He left Stelle permanently in the 1980’s and founded The Adelphi Organization in Quinlan, Texas.

He made additional prophecies of World War III in 1999 and that a new land would rise out of the Pacific Ocean on May 5, 2000 where a new nation would be created by their group. By this time 90% of the world’s population was to have been destroyed.

The last I heard of Richard he was in jail for bank fraud. I just went to the Adelphi Web site and it indicates he died in 2002. I’m not sure if he died in jail or not.

I read his book, The Ultimate Frontier over twenty years ago and found it very fascinating and had some quite interesting teachings in it. I found it interesting enough to call him up and ask him some questions and later take a trip to Stelle and check it out.

When I visited Stelle around 1982 there were only about a dozen people living there. Most had departed to Texas and the homes left were very unkempt and the little community was being overrun by weeds.

I talked to several who were living there to get a feeling of their mindset and was disappointed at their lack of independent thought – that they seemed to prefer an authoritative structure, very similar to the Mormon Church.

Richard’s followers say that he has contact with the true brotherhood and they are the source of his teachings. His critics say that he got his material from the Lemurian Fellowship from Ramona California that he joined in the 1950’s. Elizabeth Claire Prophet also got inspiration from this group.

Richard also teaches about the two brotherhoods, but instead of calling the bad guys the Dark Brotherhood he calls them “Black Mentalists.” He claims they control their followers with mind control.

Richard claims that the Masters who worked through H. P. Blavatsky and Alice A. Bailey were black mentalists, even though there seems to be no record of his teachers telling him this. It appears that he came to this conclusion on his own. He seemed to have very little knowledge of the Bailey teachings but did seem to study other esoteric trains of thought.

Several old timers in the group have been associated with Richard’s group. Rick, the founder of the Keys was very heavily into the group and lived and worked with them.

All things express their nature. As you wear a feeling it becomes your nature. It might take a moment or a year – it is entirely dependent upon the degree of conviction. As doubts vanish and you can feel “I AM this,” you begin to develop the fruit or the nature of the thing you are feeling yourself to be. Neville

Signs of Reincarnation

Question: Did you ever do a handwriting analysis of Alice Bailey and Joseph Smith? If they had so many similar experiences in their lives, then maybe JS came back as AB.

JJ: I think I mentioned a few months ago that I did come across Alice A. Bailey’s handwriting and rated her intelligence as not as high as H. P. Blavatsky. She was intelligent but not high enough to have invented the writings she scribed.

I had wanted to examine her handwriting for some time and finally found her signature for sale on E-Bay. I bid on it but didn’t get it, but did manage to download a scan of it.

Alice A. Bailey and Joseph’s Smith’s writing had too many fundamental differences for them to be the same person.

Proving identity of different lifetimes through handwriting is tricky because there will always be some changes. If we look at a person’s handwriting in his youth, middle and old age we will generally see some significant differences, yet there will be certain threads that will be very similar, especially when we look at basic intelligence. The quality of intelligence never reverses (unless there is brain damage) and this is the most telling thing to look for.

Discovering past lives through handwriting is what first convinced me of reincarnation and lead me out of orthodox religious thought.

As I said, normally handwriting varies within a lifetime, let alone several lifetimes, so a conclusive match is difficult to produce. However, I had a particular associate that was a good test case. I had the advantage of looking at this person’s writing from an early age and found that the handwriting had changed very little throughout this life. I therefore, concluded this would be a good test case as I had a feeling as to who this entity was in a past life.

I was fortunate to be able to obtain the writing of this person’s potential past life and when I laid the two handwritings side by side I was stunned.

I recently compared JFK’s writing with H. P. Blavatsky and was impressed by the similarities, (See post #803-805)  but in the case of my associate the comparison was almost an exact match. In addition, there were several little idiosyncrasies that I couldn’t recall seeing in any other handwriting that were in these two.

As I stared at these two writings that matched beyond any possibility of chance my consciousness instantly changed. I realized that reincarnation was a fact and that everything I believed had to be taken apart and put back together again.

That was back around 1972 and a lot of water has run under the bridge since then. Since that time I have received many other impressive witnesses of past lives, many of which I cannot talk about. Most teachers who talk about their past lives are deluded because of glamour and it usually serves no useful purpose even if they are accurate. Suffice it to say that if the handwriting sample didn’t convince me then other things that have happened since then certainly would have.

Reincarnation is indeed a pivotal doctrine for once the truth of it is seen we can no longer swallow orthodox religious thinking and are forced to use our own mind to find the real truth behind the illusions, the outward authorities and past programming.

“Let the weak man say, ‘I am strong’ (Joel 3:10), for by his assumption, the cause substance – I AM – is rearranged and must, therefore, manifest that which its rearrangement affirms. This principle governs every aspect of life, be it social, financial, intellectual or spiritual. Neville
