Foundation Beliefs

The question:

Aside from reliable soul contact what do you suppose to be the most reliable step to use as a foundation to the search for truth?

Glenys gave a good answer on this:

I think a good indicator is whether or not the teaching conflicts with truths that have been previously established. If they do conflict, it is a good hint that they are based on deception and/or illusion. Truth is eternal and a genuine teaching reveals or expands on it rather than contradicts that which is already accepted.

This is a good description of the first rule of discovery. Let me word it this way.

Take the things you know (for reasonable surety) to be true and use them as a foundation or stepping stones for testing additional truths.

This is a principle that is available to all. It does not take a high spiritual evolution, soul contact or any supernatural powers.

Let us take basic mathematics for example. If 1+1=2 and 2+2=4 and you have tried and tested this formula then you can be reasonably sure that these additions will be correct in any other use where they are applied. If you then come across a teacher who has a formula wherein 2+2=5 you may be reasonably sure that a mistake lies therein. If the teacher and the class accuse you of being narrow minded for your lack of belief you should still stand your ground. Make them show you the logic behind the reason that 2+2=5 in their mind. Be open to all possibilities, but remember this. When your foundation truths are challenged the chances are that the challenger is presenting illusion and you should question accordingly.

Question: Even though your foundation beliefs are great stepping stones there does come a time when you will discover that some of them are either not true or founded upon partial truth. What makes this discovery possible?

Amazingly Rick and Paul are on the same page on one point – that is in the idea that truth brings a feeling of joy and peace or tranquility.

This is certainly true if it is the discovery of a truth that we “seek” as Christ admonished us to do. When we seek and find there is indeed joy.

However, truth can also bring fear and terror.

Consider the person who discovers the “truth” about his spouse’s affair.

Consider the person who discovers the “truth” about a large financial loss.

Consider the person who discovers that he has been traveling the path of illusion for forty years and now must backtrack and start from square one. This truth will make his heart sink.

There are many truths beyond our ring-pass-not that we are unprepared for and would be devastating for us to prematurely learn.

Nevertheless, most of us on this list are truly seeking our next level of truth and there is indeed joy in discovery when we are ready and seeking.

It is important to realize though that there are many who are happy with the level of truth they have attained and if someone presents to them a greater light than they are ready for it will be a painful experience for them and they will often fight against it.

The key for the teachers of this age is to present truth in such a way that gently works it way into the consciousness of the students. This is one thing I tried to do when writing Book One of the Immortal. I tried to avoid writing about anything that would attack anyone’s belief system whether they be new age or standard Christian.

I will say this – that even though some truths may be painful for us to accept that when it is accepted there is a certain peace associated with it. Even when the dying patient learns he is going to die the acceptance of such is peaceful. The true seeker will never exchange truth for illusion no matter how disturbing.

Rick was correct in this sense. There are times when you are faced with a choice between the real and the unreal, what is true and what is false. When faced with such a choice and within your heart you seek the truth, in this case there will be a sense of peace surrounding the truth and fear connected with the false.

Even so, it may take a great deal of courage to chose the truth. For instance the hell fire and brimstone people may tell you that if they are right and you are wrong and you do not accept their way of salvation you will burn in hell forever. The temptation fear presents is: Why take a chance? Play it safe and go with us.

To break free from false religion you have to be sure enough of the truth of the love of God that you feel that you are not risking eternal damnation.

I have taught a number of people who are under the threat of damnation from their religion, and generated interest in escape, but most of them fall back on the safety of their church to protect them from the evils of hell fire. Sad.

Now let me repeat today’s question:

Even though your foundation beliefs are great stepping stones there does come a time when you will discover that some of them are either not true or founded upon partial truth. What makes this discovery possible?

What are some common erroneous foundation beliefs that we see about us?

I liked Margaret’s comment about her alteration of a foundation belief:

“When my mind was satisfied, then the new information actually thrilled every fiber of my being! I sat back from studying Strong’s concordance and felt a glow growing inside. Now I had to reorganize my belief system(s) but it felt wonderful to do so: freeing; expanding; powerful new vistas.”

I could really relate to this as it has happened several times to me in my life. It can be very troubling when a foundation belief is disturbed, but then when the barriers are let down there is great joy when higher truth is accepted.

For illusionary foundation beliefs Susan wrote:

“We” have a corner on the truth. “We” have it and you don’t.
You only have one shot at life, you better do it right.
Evil is more powerful than good.
I’m not responsible…..for what happens to me, for what kind of leaders are leading, for the ills of this world etc. etc.
It’s so screwed up there is no hope.

Good points here. Some would say that the truth is that good and evil are equal, but such is not so. Good is the dominate of the two and this is the reason that our progression moves forward as an eternal spiral. If good and evil were exactly equal then we would be going in circles for eternity.

Djwhal Khul speaks of the law of dominating good as follows:

“Disease is the Product of, and subject to, three influences. First, a man’s past, wherein he pays the price of ancient error. Second, his inheritance, wherein he shares with all mankind those tainted streams of energy which are of group origin. Thirdly, he shares with all the natural forms that which the Lord of Life imposes on His body. These three influences are called “The Ancient Law of Evil Sharing.” This must give place some day to that new Law of Ancient Dominating Good which lies behind all that God made. This law must be brought into activity by the spiritual will of man.” Esoteric Healing, Pages 29-30

A law “Dominating Good” lies behind all that God has made. That thought registers well with the soul.

Rick mentions a foundation belief of a black and white view of the Bible. This indeed turns into a mindset that can blind people to higher truth. Actually, this is more the fault of a false teacher than it is the Bible itself.

How about problem foundation beliefs on the other side of the fence in the New Age community? Can you name a couple?

Better Resurrection & Truth

I was asked to elaborate on the resurrection and the place and actions of Jesus and the Christ.

The Bible gives some interesting information on this. During these three days Jesus visited what is called the “spirits in prison:

“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.” I Peter 3:18-20

“For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.” I Peter 4:6

Here is another hint:

“Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)” Eph 4:8-10

There is a principle that you can not comprehend the higher without taking in the lower. Thus to ascend above all things Jesus descended and visited those of lowest vibration in the spirit world and then worked his way up to the highest entities in that invisible world. After he made this round the time had come to return to the body.

The reason he waited three days is because it was the Jewish belief that it was impossible to raise the dead after there was no heartbeat for three days. Reviving the body after three days was an impossible feat according to the authorities of that time.

The disciple Jesus went through these experiences while the Christ was still linked to him while in deep meditation.

The stone that covered the tomb was removed by several associate Masters who came to greet and assist the resurrected Jesus. Jesus could have walked through the stone, but its removal was a strong sign that a miracle had happened.

Finally Peter asks a question that (What is the resurrection?) could take several long posts to answer, but I will say a few things.

There are several degrees of resurrection. The lowest degree is through the principle of rebirth. This is called the resurrection of KRISIS (in the Greek) in the Bible.

The second is a renewal of the body, but after the body is renewed it will continue to age normally. This happened to Moses and Abraham in the Bible times.

Finally there is the resurrection of life also called the “better resurrection.”

“Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection.” Heb 11:35

Here we are told that the early saints knew of a “better resurrection” and that they were willing to go through great sacrifice in hope of achieving it.

In this better resurrection spirit and matter reach a point of balance to the degree that the Master can renew his body indefinitely or reproduce any form from past lives. After this resurrection the person is as immortal as He wants to be. Nevertheless, the power of decision to become is still His and He still has the power to chose death and return to mortality as one of us for some work of service.

The Ancient of Days became mortal after a long period of immortality. He did this when he became the first Adam or self-conscious man.

Discovering Truth

The group has been bringing up unusual teachings presented on the internet. The question that many ask is how do we know if any particular teaching has any truth behind it. Are there nine initiations or twelve? Are there seven chakras or 18?

Are we being transformed into the 5th dimension, 24th or are we just slowly evolving in the current dimension?

Do we need to follow guru A, B or C to save us from the earth changes, nasty aliens or whatever?

Is Zor coming with his spaceship or not?

From the beginning I have taught you to look for the principles. Therefore, I ask: How do we discover the truth of a certain presentation? What are the principles we look for to discern truth from fiction in the many channelings and teachings presented to us?

In the past a medium could channel a savvy entity and he or she would be lucky to gather twenty followers in the local community. Now if the person can come up with interesting material he can post it on the net and gather worldwide interest in a short period of time.

This has the benefit of creating opportunity for both teachers and seekers, but it also has the negative aspect of making many people’s heads spin when they surf from one site to another and find many diverse, but conflicting doctrines vying for attention.

There are many good-hearted people who examine conflicting teachings, like them both, and try to find unifying threads. Once these unifying threads, real or imagined, are seen many come to the conclusion that they are all inspired. This seems like a good thing to do, but many do no realize that the acceptance of conflicting thoughts causes a scattering of the attention making it seem that the point of contact with the soul is everywhere rather than the single point between spirit and matter.

It is much better to follow one teacher, or system of teaching, that has only a little truth than to follow twelve systems that have a combination of much truth, yet contradict each other.

Why?

Because in harmonizing contradictions you have neutralized your discernment and when discernment is neutralized little or no truth is seen no matter what the quantity or clarity of presentation.

By examining one teaching at a time one can test and reflect that teaching off his soul and incorporate those in harmony with the God within. These harmonious truths then provide a foundation built on rock as a means of testing the next philosophy he encounters.

Principles of Discovery

Many of you will remember the list we created detailing the qualities of the disciple and found this helpful.

Now we are going to make another list in answer to the following: What are the principles or steps we should follow in recognizing the truth of a teaching? This should be answered from the vantage point of the average seeker. In other words, telling the average guy to go directly to the Monad and do not pass go would be meaningless to him.

Several of you have correctly stated that we should seek soul contact and trust it, but the trouble is that seekers are in many points on the Path, as far as contact is concerned, so this advice cannot apply to all.

For instance, many are seeking soul contact, but have not yet achieved it in a way they can recognize.

Others have achieved glimpses of it several times, but are not familiar enough with it to avoid deception.

Then there are those who believe they have soul contact, but in reality have astral contact, not realizing that astral trust veils the soul.

Finally there are those who have true soul contact. They know who there are and know that they know.

Now if I were to teach you about 144 dimensions and tell you to use your soul contact to verify this, the above four groups would give, many different answers. Hopefully we can see from this point that just telling you to use soul contact is not enough to bring a mixed group to oneness in the truth.

A group composed of individuals all having soul contact can be extremely unified, but such a group is not our luxury at present. Many are struggling to know correct principles and this list we are creating must be for them.

We will create this list without regard to the order of importance and rearrange later if necessary.

Faith and Works

Faith and Works

It is interesting that many people associate Jesus with passiveness and even most Bible thumpers believe that work is not necessary to salvation, but Jesus himself spoke with different emphasis.

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matt 5:16

“For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.” Matt 16:27

“Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.” John 4:34

“I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” John 9:4

“I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.” Rev 2:23

Then Other Apostles spoke likewise:

“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” Phil 2:12

“What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

“If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, “Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

“Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” James 2:14-17

“For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” James 2:26

I find it interesting that most Bible believers as well as many non Bible believing New Agers are in the same camp on this philosophy. Despite these clear words in the Bible many of the religious believe that all they have to do to inherit the earth, eternal life or whatever is to just have faith in God and Jesus and they will carry the ball and take care of everything.

Many (not all) of the New Agers, on the other end of the spectrum, who often despise the religious ones do the same thing. They think that all they have to do is have faith or make peace with the soul, Higher Self, God or whatever and everything will be done for them. They think that if God wants peace, we’ll have peace. If God wants war we will have war, but at least we’ll have peace within ourselves.

I think the two camps should shake hands and admit they are in the same belief system, only the vocabulary is different.

The days of Jeremiah are interesting to consider because the people of Jerusalem had a philosophy very similar to many of the “faith only” people of today. Many of the spiritual teaches of that time claimed to be channeling or talking to God or high entities and all received the same message. What was that message? They were supposed to think peace, talk peace and believe the words of the teachers without question and all would be well. Their city Jerusalem would be secure because they were the chosen people under the umbrella of God’s protection.

Then this obnoxious guy named Jeremiah received some soul contact and had a true vision of the situation. He saw that if the people did not take some protective action along with their belief that they would be destroyed. He thus went among the leaders and the people and taught. Here is a sample of his words:

“Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD. They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.

For who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it?

“Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked.

“The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly.” Jer 23:16-20

Then Jeremiah told them very clearly that unless they changed their ways and listen to the true inner voice of God, instead of the outer voice of teachers crying peace that they would be destroyed.

Jeremiah was made fun of, derided, called a troublemaker, false prophet, disturber of the peace reviled against and finally killed.

Yet all of this disbelief in the results of their works and their belief in peace did not help them any more than it helped the United States and Europe prevent World War II by talking of peace only, but having no works.

The deceived and the false prophets were astounded when they witnessed the Babylonians invading their land, stealing the treasures of their sacred temple and tearing it down. They firmly believed that God would never allow such a thing, but here they were witnessing it with their own eyes.

Many of the people were killed, the most useful taken captive as slaves and the rest scattered to the four winds of heaven.

Even though this type of calamity has happened time and time again to the peace with no works people, including the time of Atlantis, each new generation seems to believe that they are somehow special, that they are new and improved and that because of their enhanced spirituality that they are going to be protected by the divine power in a way that past generations were not.

One of the main reasons the scriptures of the world and especially the Old Testament was written is to give us the lessons of history in the hope that the mistakes of the past are not repeated.

The sage who stated that “he who does not learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them,” spoke correctly. Unfortunately, this is often quoted by people who are paying little attention to history.

I will leave you with one question.

What mistakes are we (the world, your country or individually) making today that is a repetition of the past? What mistakes have we learned from history and seem to be correcting?

Sending Goodwill

Speaking of oneness, we will be covering this idea some time in the future in reasonable detail when the time is right.

I appreciate the compliments I have been getting lately and hope I can live up to your high expectations.

The impression most people get when they meet me is that I am pretty much a regular guy and that is fine with me.

Question:

The question to consider is what can a nation and its people do to befriend the people of a potentially dangerous nation such as Russia or China? How can we make friends with the people themselves and eventually generate a feeling among the general populace that war with us should not happen because we are friends?

Is the Internet likely to play an important role? How?

I remember that we received some, but not a lot of response on this.

One huge mistake we have made with unstable nations is that we have given large sums of money to their bureaucracies and much of this went to corrupt politicians and worked its way to the criminal element there. As it is, the common people are not very friendly toward the United States and other nations who have tried to help because they have seen no benefit.

What we have to remember is that the greatest power in any nation is its people. Therefore any aid given to tyrannies or any nation should be directed to the people rather than leaders which may be greedy and corrupt.

What we should have done with aid money to various countries in need is make direct loans to the people. Find enterprising entrepreneurs to submit business plans and make loans to the best of them.

When we just give the money to bureaucrats it is never seen again and does very little good. But when we make loans directly to the people the money is used much more wisely for the good of the country and if only half of them pay the loans back then the foreign aid winds up costing us only half as much for over twice the good with the bonus of creating much greater goodwill among the people.

Another thing the people of the nations can do is to make a point when they travel abroad to go out of their way to be extra friendly and leave the foreign country having made a friend or two. It is true that we tend to get aggravated at leaders of various nations, but the common people who are the tourists may actually create as much or more friction and aggravation.

Concerning my own country (the United States) I realize that many other nations, even our allies, have a bad taste in their mouth from our tourists. Many foreigners think American tourists are loud, demanding and obnoxious. What may seem kind of normal here (and other countries) may not seem so acceptable abroad.

Therefore, when we travel abroad we must pay attention to the temperament of the country and adjust to the best of our ability. If they feel it is rude to not eat their food then eat their food if at all possible.

Even in England, which has the same language as the United States one must be careful. Picking up a baby here and calling him a “cute little bugger” is a sign of affection, but in the UK it is the same as calling him a “cute little bastard.” If the American says “please pass the napkins” in England at the dinner table it is the same there as saying please pass the Kotex (feminine hygiene napkins).

A new way of establishing good relations among the nations has now opened up and this is, of course, the Internet. The problem right now is that common people are censored on the net in totalitarian regimes, but fortunately some are finding avenues of free expression. As their numbers do increase people of goodwill should seek to make individual and collective contact with these people and correct misconceptions and let them know that we the people only have the best wishes at heart for them.

Translation features on the Internet allow us to be as if the world was one language. This can only be a helpful tool for people of goodwill.

A reader asked me to reference my sources so they can be looked up

I do attempt to give credit to Alice A. Bailey and others when I quote their material. A certain amount of overlap will occur from one teacher to the next and it would interrupt the flow of the teachings to reference every statement that has occurred in teachings past.

About 80-90% of what I write is either a new slant in principles and teachings or entirely fresh material that has not been presented before to the best of my knowledge.

There have been numerous instances where my teachings have referenced Alice A. Bailey and others when it seemed appropriate.

Then there are other times that part of a paragraph I present has some material that has been taught in the past but mixed in with original material. When this mixture occurs I find it is sometimes distracting to give a reference.

Alice A. Bailey had the same problem. When she was using an obvious parallel to past writings she gave a reference, but there are many of her writings where she could have given a reference, but did not either because it would have been distracting or because the past teaching was being restated in a new and unique way.

I am most likely to recite a teaching from the past when I am asked a question. The answers to many questions already have been given out there somewhere. When I steer the group back toward the course we are on that is when I will be presenting the highest percentage of new material.

I have been asked a number of times about my sources of material. Some feel that I must be taking it out of some already published book, but I assure you that much of what I have presented and will present is not in any book yet published.

There is one more thing to mention in this line of thought. Sometimes I receive light through the Oneness Principle or other means and then I may be reading the Bible, Bailey or some other inspired writings and I find hints of that teaching is hidden in there.

Take the Molecular Relationship for example. I had not read about such a thing anywhere, but after I received it I found many hints of it in the Bible as well as DK’s writings. These hints have been available for 2000 years as far as the Bible is concerned, but humanity (especially the religions) just never registered them.

A future subject we will be covering will be the Gathering of Lights. This subject is talked about more in the Bible that any other, much more than love and peace, yet none that I know of understand the principle as we will be laying it out. Even though many references have been made in the Bible to the gathering principle it was never clearly explained there or in any metaphysical book I know of. As I said before the people in the days of Columbus knew what earth-circle-ship was but when these items were combined into the idea that the earth was a sphere the thinking of the world was changed forever.

As long as we are talking of references there is one in particular that I must not leave out and that is the Holy Spirit which stimulates the Oneness Principle and brings all knowledge, especially from principles, to the mind of the seeker.

Answers on Christ, Sources and More

Question: “When we say “Our Father, who art in heaven…”, are we referring to the Christ of this planet, or the Ancient of Days, or to the one originating life?”

JJ: All lives that are a higher octave in evolution than yourself are one with God in their consciousness and thus your prayer to the Father will be picked up by the entity most suitable to answer it. Most often it is your Higher Self, sometimes it will be a person from the Spirit World, once in a while it will be a Master. If your prayer does not ascend to a higher octave it may be processed by your higher mind and its assistance can be given. The Ancient of Days shares awareness of all lives on the planet, but does not respond to them individually. He touches all lives through a hierarchical or Molecular Relationship. Many helpers has He.

Question: “What is the difference in purpose/role between the Christ and the Ancient of Days for this planet?”

The Christ is the title held by the Spirit that was in Jesus as we taught earlier.

Just as the human body has seven centers so does the planet Earth. The Brotherhood of Light, often called the Masters of the Hierarchy, is the heart center and as an expression of love/wisdom energy is presided over by the Christ.

Shamballa corresponds to the Head Center and is an expression of Will-Power-Purpose and is presided over by The Ancient of Days who is called by many names, most commonly Sanat Kumara. He is the Father in relationship to Christ as well as the whole planet.

Moses spoke with his Higher Self who was linked with the Masters. The Ten Commandments were written by the hand of Moses while in the translated state. This was why his face shined like the sun when he came down from the mountain. It was said that the writing was done by the finger of God because Moses was in the Godlike state and one with God while he wrote the law. He lived in this state for 40 days without food or water.

Question: “What happens to the spirit of Christ after it serves its mission for 1000 years.”

Christ will go to the great solar system of Sirius where an advanced lodge of the Brotherhood resides. There he will complete his 8th and 9th initiations. He will leave here the first to achieve what he did and the greatest of the human family and will enter schooling there as a neophyte. Thus the eternal principle, the first shall be last and the last first, works itself out.

When he leaves he will be replaced by the Master KH who will assume the position of the Christ for the planet.

DK tells us that when our current Christ completes his initiations on Sirius he will return to our planet in the far future and assist us once again.

The entity who was Melchizedek entered into the body of Jesus at his baptism. This is the one who still holds the office of the Christ and is the same who must make His presence known to fulfill the prophecies of the second coming. He will “reign a thousand years” and then move on to higher learning.

The other entity who was Joshua, from the time of Moses, was born as Jesus will not be the one who is the second coming. The plan is for him to become the Messiah that the Jews are still waiting for. Thus we will have Jesus and the Christ working on the earth this time as two separate entities, one as messiah to the Jews and the other as a world teacher. It is not clearly revealed as to whether this will be a direct incarnation or working as an overshadowing. The hope is for Jesus to prepare the Jewish people to accept the higher teachings of the Christ.

When they are doing their work they will be known by different names than Jesus and Christ. A lot of the spiritual work will be done before the world at large realizes that anything unusual is happening.

One more note on Moses. He worked with a triangle of energy through his Higher Self, the Masters (which at the time most did not originate from earth) and the Ancient of Days at Shamballa. Most of the work was done through a direct connection with his higher self, but he did make contact with The Ancient of Days. Because of this great triangle of energy he was able to perform some of the greatest miracles in history.

There will be a higher correspondence to the time of Moses when the Molecules are created. There will again be a triangle formed between the Spiritual life behind the Molecule, the Brotherhood of Light and the Ancient of Days. When the energies of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost become one upon the earth all things become possible.

I was asked to elaborate on what happened after the crucifixion.

The Christ left the disciple Jesus alone on the cross to complete his initiation. Actually He was not completely alone as there was still a connecting thread between the two, but so much of the consciousness of the higher entity departed that Jesus seemed to be alone. Then when he said “Father, receive my Spirit He realized that the connecting link yet remained and he decided to join the Christ outside of the body. Yet even as the two entities were outside the body there was yet a connection to the body through the magnetic silver cord as I mentioned earlier. Thus the body of Jesus was never completely dead.

Death was not overcome by either of these entities individually, but through the molecular link that linked Jesus to Christ and Christ to the Ancient of Days and so on. The life giving power was sent down the chain and the Christ (male energy) with the assistance of Jesus (female energy) healed the body after three days.

Question: “Was it Jesus (Joshua) who appeared to the disciples in physical form, or was it the Christ (Melchizedek) that appeared in the physical form of Jesus?”

Jesus was the main consciousness in the body at the time of the appearance to the disciples, but there was still an overshadowing by the Christ, but more as a link rather than a divine possession from this point on.

The plan to have Jesus appear as a Messiah to the Jews in our age (which was mentioned by Bailey) was not formulated at that time, but it was known that the Christ would appear in some manner at the beginning of the Aquarian Age. Even though Jesus was the main consciousness in the body they were still one because of the strong link. Jesus was speaking this on behalf of the Christ who was to come again in the far future.

The Father and the Son

The Father and the Son

I was asked to expand on the concepts of God, the Father, the Christ and the Son.

As far as individual entities are concerned Father-Son is another name for teacher-student. Thus in relation to each other The Ancient of Days is the Father and the Christ is the Son. The Solar Logos is the Father to the Ancient of Days. On the Other hand the Christ is the father in relationship to Jesus making Jesus the Son.

Each aspect of God has a prime representative on each living planet. The Ancient of Days Occupies that position on this planet and the one who was in Jesus occupies the position of Christ, a position he will hold for another 1000 years. Then he will move on to higher learning and be replaced by a senior Master.

In the Bible Christ is called The Father (Isaiah 9:6) and of course, the Son many times. An interesting twist on this is that when Mary was overshadowed by the “Most High” the Christ was in her creating the miracle. Then when Jesus had reached maturity the spirit of Christ entered into him at the baptism. Thus during the three years that Christ was co-present with Jesus He was his own Father, literally the Father and the Son.

The first cause is often called the Father, but in reality it is Purpose which is neither male nor female. Through the power of Decision Purpose vibrated creating male and female energies or Father and Mother God.

The reason we associate the creator of the universe with Father is because the visible universe is dominated by male energy. That which is seen is radiant and radiant energy is polarized male. That which is not seen (such as magnetism and gravity) is female. As the unseen becomes more real to us God the Mother will become more real to the mass of humanity.

Because of the dominance of male energy in this visible world even the Brotherhood of light is partial to the male gender as far as the use of words is concerned. They see the idea of brotherhood and brother as having a universal application and call both males and females brothers. None in the brotherhood are offended because all realize they have been both genders in past lives and use both energies in the present.

One of the important teachings of the New Age will be the restoration of knowledge of the power of the female energy for it is as mysterious as gravity, but no form can be held together without it. Because the female energy is invisible it often is not recognized. But this does not matter to the female lights of the earth. Their main joy comes from an inner knowing of the real effect that they have had. The mother’s effect on a child is a great example. When the kid excels because of the teachings and influence of the mother the father may brag to his friends about the chip off the old block, but the mother sits back in quiet joy with the realization that her hard work has born fruit.

If a person has a psychological problem with using the male “Father” in the Song then it is best to use the word for God that is most comfortable to them. If he has a problem with the word Christ as in “the consciousness of Christ” then he should use “son of God. The important thing is to not change the meaning, nor drop any phrases. Those who are not ready for the energy of the Song will either cease saying it or change the meaning, thus not joining in with the unity of Spirit and Power created by it.

We thank you Father that you have revealed to us your protective universal light;

that within this light is complete protection from all destructive forces;

That the Holy Spirit of Your Presence permeates us in this light, and wherever we will the light to descend.

We thank you Father that you fill us with your protective fires of love;

That within this love is complete protection from all destructive thoughts and feelings;

That the consciousness of Christ is lifted up in us in this love, and wherever we will the love to be enflamed.

We thank you Father that You are in us and we are in You;

That through us Your Will is sent forth on wings of power;

That Your Purpose is accomplished on earth as it is in heaven;

That through us Your Light and Love and Power is manifest to all the Sons and Daughters of Mankind.

Enhancing Soul Contact

We are presently approaching a potential age of peace, a time that has been looked for over thousands of years by prophets, enlightened teachers and disciples.

I do not think that there will be any argument over the point that we all have some responsibility in helping this new age to materialize. I believe that most of us in the group do not expect to sit back and do nothing and just wait for God to do it all with some touch of a magic button.

So let us go on the assumption that we do have some responsibility. How much responsibility do we have and how many planes does it extend to?

There will be two major points of view here.

(1) Our only responsibility will be to have peace within ourselves and extend peace and love to our neighbors. If everyone does this then there will automatically materialize peace on the earth. By using the inner powers alone we can change the outward reality without real work and action on the physical plane. Thus the way of peace is quite simple.

(2) This person agrees that we must have peace within ourselves and also extend it to our neighbor, but feels that this is not enough. There are a lot of well meaning people out there, but with fixed ideas who are happy to go to war to defend them. Part of the populace living in peace with themselves will have little effect on them for these people often think they have inner peace themselves. Just as there must be some plan and structure to discourage thieves burglarizing your home there must also be a plan on the physical plane that is followed to prevent war.

The Soul Revisited

John, I love your statement: “What we dare to do we have the power to do.”

Did you just make that up or is it a quote?

Concerning the starting of organizations I like the statement of Isaiah: “He that believeth does not make haste.” The most important thing at present is to promote the ideas of peace and see how healthy the response is. I just want to make sure we lay a secure foundation to any organization we create.

My feelings on Zecharia Sitchin’s Books are similar to other comments made. I once picked up his Twelfth Planet and read about ten pages and never picked one of his books up again. I feel that he has some things that are true, but many are not. I did not sense that any principles would be presented.

Nevertheless, it is entirely possible that books which do not impress me will stimulate great interest in another. Sometimes even books containing great errors will stimulate a person to search. The true seeker will often have his soul speak to him between the lines.

One with soul contact can find more truth in the National Enquirer than one who is in illusion can find in the Bible.

The Christ consciousness is something else and is achieved by the individual contacting the soul energy within himself. The soul is the point within yourself where the interplay of Spirit and matter is taking place. Thus when we talk about soul contact we are talking about putting our attention and consciousness on this still point within that tells Spirit what matter is doing and matter what Spirit is doing. The Christ consciousness is a key to becoming a knower in the worlds of form as well as the formless worlds.

Soul contact is THE most important thing for us all to learn for only by learning the principle can we all become as one mind yet retain our complete free will.

Garrett says:

“The main reason many of us are here is to get to soul contact. We seem to be taking the scenic route to get there though. What the heck, JJ is doing the driving, so I’ll sit back and try to soak it all in. Wait…I see a sign post up ahead…it says Soul Contact 1/4 mile. Here we go! (the only question is…at what speed are we travelling?)”

Garrett, I’m sure you made not only me, but many others, smile at this comment, yet take serious note at the same time.

But perhaps you have already received soul contact because you are right. It is only 1/4 mile ahead – How did you know that?

Seriously though everything we have covered so far is essential material to reach the kingdom of the soul because as long as the beast is alive and well in us our spiritual vision is blocked, as if we are in a fog. We must become aware of the name of God in our foreheads. It is already there. We must merely still ourselves and let the clouds clear away.

Even though this sounds easy, the journey to the kingdom of God is most difficult and has many pitfalls. The higher lives are not just sitting around waiting for you to merely declare that you are ready. You must make yourself useful as a tool in their hands to get their attention.

Your soul, which is a midway point between matter and spirit, is, however, ever waiting and always present for you. The fact that you are a member of this group and reading these words is itself a sign that you have passed through many lifetimes of struggle and are in preparation for higher contact.

When one has established firm soul contact it becomes almost impossible to take offense and if such a person seems to give offense it is generally by accident or because the other party is offended at simple truth.

Thus if you are taking offense at trivia or personality differences you are demonstrating that you are not learning the prime lesson that is intended to be taught here.

When I joined this group I considered the most important thing I could share with you. The answer was easy. That is anything I could do to enhance and clarify the soul contact of others would be a valuable service. Actually, presenting a teaching that may stimulate that contact is the difficult part.

To my knowledge the principle of illusion has never been explained so average seekers can understand it, yet it is the final block to full soul contact. If I can lead just one person to greater contact then that produces a tremendous benefit because each person who reaches this level influences many people for good. You were also not very enthused about studying the beast yet many of those who followed along received considerable benefit.

Therefore all my teachings directly to any student will carry no other authority other than the “Name of the Father/Mother God within.” What I say may or may not be true. As you experience soul contact you will check and become your own authority.

The current question is: How can DECISION and ATTENTION be used to increase soul contact?

Several came close on the decision part. That is we must decide to reach or maintain soul contact.

Actually, more important than this is to decide to follow the highest that you know and receive from your inner self. Just deciding something like “I will receive soul contact today or next week” is not enough. If one is penniless and decides to have a new car tomorrow he will generally be disappointed. If one decides to have a new car and takes the time and makes the effort necessary to get it then there’s a good chance he will receive it.

Similarly, the decision required of us (that is most important) is the decision to do that which is necessary to receive and maintain soul contact. Then when you receive contact you must then decide whether or not it is worth the effort necessary to keep the channel open enough to keep the contact continuous.

After these decisions are made then ATTENTION must be focused on the soul or “the light in the head” as some writings have it. Another way some teachers have worded this is to “keep your mind focused in the light.”

Here is what happens after the first few glances at soul contact. When soul contact is first reached the entity has many more energies vying for his attention on the lower planes than the higher. Even though the contact brought a sense of peace and high vibration, this was not enough to keep his attention focused on the things necessary to sustain this. The distractions of the lower world draws the attention away and the focus is taken away from the soul and to the lower vibration. This shift does not happen immediately, but over a period of several days and the shift is so subtle that when the attention is shifted to the lower self the entity will often still believe he is in the soul.

If you are in a room with an adjustable light and turn it down gradually over a period of say, an hour, you can have the light diminished by about seventy per cent and never notice it. Then if you suddenly turn the light back immediately to full strength you will be startled to learn how much light you have lost. But you would not realize this unless you turned the light back on to full strength.

So it is with the soul. Until we learn to keep our minds focused steady in the light through ATTENTION to the soul or light, we will slip away from that light many times and have to have the power turned on again and again until we finally tire of losing contact and do something about it through the focus of attention.

Several have mentioned the importance of meditation and how bad they are at it. Meditation does not necessarily bring soul contact. There are those who meditate all their lives and never achieve it. More important than meditation is contemplation. Contemplation is a positive aspect of meditation and is more active and takes a person in the direction of the soul if ATTENTION is used and the heart is pure.

This is the purpose of the Intuitive Principle – to cause you to contemplate on questions in hope of touching the soul. Meditation without contemplation can bring some health benefits and calmness along with some discipline, but this alone does not insure soul contact.

When a person’s intention is for the good of the whole and he is totally honest with himself about why he performs his service then his heart is pure. If your heart is pure, and the three obstacles are under control, then the doorway to the soul swings open wide. If you are then willing to go through the door soul contact becomes a reality. If you are willing to follow where that contact leads you then more contact becomes possible. When you learn to always respond to higher communication then constant communion becomes a reality.

What is the Soul?

What is the Soul?

The Bible states that God breathed the breath of life into Adam and he became a living soul.

On the other hand, the word soul is often used synonymously with Spirit, or that which leaves our body at death. Other teachers use it when referring to our Higher Self.

Soul, in a way is that point of oneness that many have referred to. Soul energy occurs when spirit interplays with matter. Thus when God placed Spirit in matter and there was interplay soul (or living soul) was the result. Soul is that point by the sea where land and water meet which is neither wet not dry, but where wet and dry interlay.

Our Higher Self as well as the Masters use the medium of soul as a means of communication with us. Thus when a disciple says he has received something through or from the soul it could be from either his higher self or a Master.

The internet is an imperfect correspondent to the soul. When we say we received something from the Internet you did not really receive it from the Internet. In reality the Internet is a medium with no form. You really received the information from another person through the medium of the Internet. In the same way a disciple is likely to say he receives from the soul when he really receives through the soul from some higher intelligence.

When a regular writer talks about the soul you must examine the context in which he uses it so you can follow his train of thought. As I said, soul is often used interchangeably with a number of things, but a spiritual internet medium is perhaps the most common used by disciples.

There are two main aspects of soul. The first is that spiritual medium that links us to higher lives. The second and not so well understood is the interplay between spirit and matter within the atomic lives who are so evolved on their own plane that they oscillate between spirit and matter and thus create the energy of soul that builds and maintains the forms for the greater lives. This knowledge will be expanded upon in the future.

Question: What is the best way to deal with problem children who seem to inherit negative patterns?

I believe that it is true that we pick up negative influences and programming – something like implanted hypnotic suggestions and they have a strong influence over many. Beyond traditional therapy, the way to overcome these influences is through mental development and then soul contact. The mind can learn to recognize negative influences and override them, but the soul can bypass them completely allowing the soul infused personality to live his life as if there is no past that can control voluntary action.

The short answer is that the best thing one can do with children is to guide them as close as possible toward the spiritual life.

Comments on Nations

Nations are great individual entities and are a lot like people and as such are responsible for their own destiny just as you and I are. It is true that some other nations attempt to influence them negatively just as other people try to influence you and I. Nevertheless, I do not blame anyone but myself for my mistakes. Nations also must take responsibility for whatever situation they find themselves in.

I’m sure that Russia and China are as nervous about the U.S. and NATO as we are about them. Therefore we should take action to increase stability.

If the people of a nation are willing to follow the path of least resistance which allows for totalitarianism then their consciousness will draw it to themselves no matter what form of government exists on paper. Thus, if they did not have communism as a totalitarian government they would have had some type of monarch or dictator which would have restricted freedoms in the same way.

There are some nations which have a democratic government on paper but in reality they have totalitarian dictatorships because their consciousness is not prepared for freedom.

At present I am concerned about the U.S., UK and Europe for their sense of freedom is being dumbed down creating a dangerous situation for ourselves. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.

I believe a representative or democratic form of government is a big leap forward over totalitarian regimes. Never in history has a stable democratic country made war with another one. Even though the U.S. irritates France and the French sometimes irritate us there is close to zero chance we will ever nuke each other. This would only be a danger if one of us had some type of dictator surface. Freedom respects freedom. Our nations are not perfect, but there is enough freedom to create stability between us.

I do believe that the United States Constitution is a light to the world, but this document also owes a great debt to England and France as well as some inspiration from Indian tribal government.

When my nation does something right, I will support them, and there are some things they do which is beneficial to the world. But when my nation goes in the wrong direction I will not support it just because I happen to live here.

As far as Hollywood goes. It is not all bad either. They gave us Yoda.

I stand by my statements on Russia and China. I did not call them evil, but dangerous. Russia is experimenting with democracy just as Germany was before World War II. They also have many political parties vying for leadership just as Germany did making it possible for a fringe group to take control as the Nazis did in Germany. If I remember right Hitler only received 23% of the vote. If a majority were required he could have never become chancellor.

China is dangerous because the leadership there would like to take Taiwan back by force if necessary. If this first aggression were to occur the leadership of both the U.S. and France may feel it necessary to go to war. Without a first aggression there would never be a second one. There is about a 50/50 chance China will make a first aggression here and that my friend is a dangerous situation.

All for one…

The fourth Ray is very strong in this group. This is the Ray governing the principle of harmony through conflict. This fourth ray along with the fifth governs humanity itself and is the primary ray influencing the whole of Planet Earth. This is one of the reasons that we humans have such difficulty escaping its influence. The goal of the Brotherhood at present is not to eliminate all conflicts, but to shift the center of conflict from the physical plane to the astral and mental. Once this is accomplished we will at least escape the danger of blowing ourselves up.

Nevertheless, in the coming age of peace, primary conflicts will be eliminated from the physical plane, but they will be intensified on higher planes. The interesting thought about all this will be that there will be some realization that harmony is derived from conflict and the lights of the race will see harmony as the end of all enlightened conflicts. Some of those who lack spiritual vision will wonder when all the peace is supposed to break out.

Nevertheless, if the age of peace unfolds as planned it will be a great improvement over what we have today.

Today many look back at Columbus and the early explorers, the founders of the U.S. Constitution and other innovative thinkers and find much fault with them because they did not seem to stand up for some of the things we consider today as “good.” But a 1000 years from now humanity will look back at us and wonder why we lived in such a veil of ignorance and followed the current beast with such non thinking obedience.

All historical initiates must be judged by the times they lived in just as it is hoped we will be.

Acceptance

Having a completely open and inclusive list such as this has it’s place, but having a true teaching situation where everyone wants to learn is also a positive thing. In order to have a positive situation where the concentration is on learning then others who wish only to teach and those who do not wish to learn must be excluded.

Exclusion is not always a bad thing. It also has it’s positive aspect.

When DK did his work through Alice A. Bailey he selected 50 students and excluded all the rest of the aspirants. Then when a student caused a problem he dropped them from the group. This was necessary for him to accomplish his work.

Nevertheless, to be inclusive to the highest possible degree is always the goal and for this cause I stay in this group and encourage openness to all. This prevents the exclusion of a true seeker who may be overlooked by an exclusive list.

On the other hand, those who merely seek to learn and don’t want to deal with conflict will have a place to go.

Practical Love and Works

I know it’s fun to talk about theory and ideas that we can never prove true or false in this physical reality, and I do it as much as any of us, but the time comes in the lives of all seekers where practical work and progress must be made, and such work must be demonstrated in the eyes of all, believers and non believers.

The question I asked previously was directed to make us think along practical lines of real world work, yet none dared venture an answer. Are we afraid of leaving our comfort zone here?

My prime purpose here is not to entertain, but to stimulate you to the initiation of real projects and ideas as well as teach. It is true that I may entertain at times but there comes a time for serious thought about the issues of the day and how we can do our part in making the world a better place for future generations.

Let me repeat this question

“The question to consider today is what can a nation and its people do to befriend the people of a potentially dangerous nation such as Russia or China? How can we make friends with the people themselves and eventually generate a feeling among the general populace that war with us should not happen because we are friends?

“Is the Internet likely to play an important role? How?”

Hint: Some things that have been done is exchange student programs, peace quilts, The Peace Corps, charitable work etc. Should these be expanded upon and are there new directions we can take to befriend the ordinary people of other nations?

I am posting separately part one of my treatise on Project Peace and Goodwill – a concrete plan of action.

Project Peace and Goodwill

It may be true that we have little power at present to implement this ambitions plan or even to promote the Twelve Principles of Synthesis, but do not be discouraged. We are not expected to do all these things that have been presented in a short period. What is expected is that a sure foundation in the Molecular Order, Synthesis and world peace are laid within the next thirty years. But even to accomplish this someone must begin.

If not now when? If not us who?

We keep seeing posts saying that the only person we need to love, make peace with have goodwill toward is yourself.

If you are one within yourself, fusing the higher and lower, this is impossible.

I do not send love to myself nor do I send goodwill and peace to myself. It does not occur to me to do so, nor do I ever think about it as such thought is a complete waste of time.

I do send love, peace and goodwill to all those who are willing to receive it and they in turn send it back to me which creates the basis for the Oneness Principle. Such an interplay of energy brings the two toward the one causing me to experience all the love, peace and goodwill I will ever want or need, taking away the necessity of any thought about sending to myself.

If those of you who are hung up on sending to yourself wish to try this principle I believe you will be delighted with the results and the real experience of the love interplay that is available.

Love In Action

I’ve been reading the various postings on love yet feel very little love behind some posts. This is not a criticism or a negative judgment on those postings as in your real life experiences you may be bubbling over with this rarified substance. I may write about and define love myself, but this also does not produce love. Instead I make the point that just talking about love, defining love, proclaiming love, mystifying love, magnifying love, writing of love, romancing love, idealizing love etc does not hold a candle to a real act of love. One act of helping another in true need creates more love than all the metaphysical proclaiming in the world.

Jesus gave a great example of this in the parable of the Good Samaritan. Let me quote:

Luke 10:25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

Luke 10:26-27 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

Luke 10:28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

Luke 10:29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

Luke 10:30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 10:31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

Luke 10:32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

Luke 10:33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

Luke 10:34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

Luke 10:35-36 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

Luke 10:37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

Because Jesus was teaching love in context His question could have been worded: “Which now of these three, thinkest thou, showed love unto him that fell among the thieves?”

Three people here had an opportunity to show love to the wounded man. The first two were a Priest and a Levite, both religious leaders among the Jews at that period. I’m sure these two religious leaders taught their people about love and compassion. As they taught their students in the synagogues perhaps they used this same L word over and over. Perhaps they preached again and again about loving God and your neighbor as was given them in their scriptures.

Then the time came to demonstrate this love in the real world and they closed their eyes to the opportunity. They were probably in a hurry to get home to their flock to preach about love.

Then came the third guy, the most unlikely of the three to help because he was a Samaritan. The Samaritans were looked upon by the Jews as half-breeds and heretics and not worthy of sharing in the pure religion. Some Jews viewed them as mortal enemies. Nevertheless, this half-breed saw this man (who would probably spit on him if he were conscious) and saved his life and spent his own money to insure he was nourished back to health. The love manifested when the injured Jew realized who had saved his life is a thing one cannot manufacture by teaching or writing. It can only happen by doing.

Notice that the Samaritan never mentioned the word love. When love is truly demonstrated, it does not have to be mentioned. All of us may not have soul contact, but all of us know what love is when we feel it and when we feel it we do not need anyone to explain to us what it is.

I’ll take as my companions one like the Samaritan who can show love in action over a thousand who merely proclaim the words.

DK through Alice A. Bailey gives some interesting elaboration on some items of our conversations

“Personalities who are integrated, coordinated men and women, but who are not yet under the influence of the soul. Their “self-will and self-love” is such a powerful factor in their lives that they exert a determining influence upon their environment.”

“Those with no soul contact of any kind. Those people are urged forward to their destiny by a sense of power, by self-love, by exalted ambition, by a superiority complex, and by a determination to reach the top of their particular tree.” Esoteric Psychology Vol II , Pages 263-265

DK talks about the person who receives the second Ray energy indirectly through the first. Such will be into self-love. Here is his description:

“Only indirectly does the second Ray of Love-Wisdom and its subsidiary line of energies appear and, therefore, love and wisdom are often noticeably lacking in the person born in this sign. Such a man will have much self-love, self-esteem, self-respect and a good deal of selfish centralisation or personality focus. He will be intelligent but not wise; aspirational but at the same time stubborn and set so that his aspiration does not take him very far very rapidly. He will move spasmodically and in wild rushes; steady measured progress upon the Way is very hard for him. He finds it difficult to apply practically the knowledge gained. It is apt to remain a mental acquisition and not a practical experience. He will be almost painfully conscious of duality but, instead of its producing a struggle for unity, it produces often a set and static depression.”

When love for all beings, irrespective of who they may be, is beginning to be a realized fact in the heart of a disciple, and yet nevertheless love for himself exists not, then comes the indication that he is nearing the Portal of Initiation, and may make the necessary preliminary pledges. These are necessitated before his Master hands in his name as a candidate for initiation. If he cares not for the suffering and pain of the lower self, if it is immaterial to him whether happiness comes his way or not, if the sole purpose of his life is to serve and save the world, and if his brother’s need is for him of greater moment than his own, then is the fire of love irradiating his being, and the world can warm itself at his feet. This love has to be a practical, tested manifestation, and not just a theory, nor simply an impractical ideal and a pleasing sentiment. It is something that has grown in the trials and tests of life, so that the primary impulse of the life is towards self-sacrifice and the immolation of the lower nature. What, therefore, is Initiation? Initiation might be defined in two ways. It is first of all the entering into a new and wider dimensional world by the expansion of a man’s consciousness so that he can include and encompass that which he now excludes, and from which he normally separates himself in his thinking and acts. It is, secondly, the entering into man of those energies which are distinctive of the soul and of the soul alone-the forces of intelligent love and of spiritual will. These are dynamic energies, and they actuate all who are liberated souls. This process of entering into and of being entered into should be a simultaneous and synthetic process, an event of the first importance. Where it is sequential or alternating, it indicates an uneven unfoldment and an unbalanced condition. There is frequently the theory of unfoldment, and a mental grasp anent the facts of the initiatory process before they are practiced experimentally in the daily life and thus psychologically integrated into the practical expression of the living process on the physical plane. Herein lies much danger and difficulty, and also much loss of time. The mental grasp of the individual is oft times much greater than his power to express the knowledge, and we have consequently those outstanding failures and those difficult situations which have brought the whole question of initiation into disrepute. Many people are regarded as initiates who are only endeavoring to be initiate. They are not, however, real initiates. They are those well meaning people whose mental understanding outruns the power of their personalities to practice. They are those who are in touch with forces which they are not yet able to handle and control. They have done a great deal of the needed work of inner contact, but have not yet whipped the lower nature into shape. They are, therefore, unable to express that which they inwardly understand and somewhat realize. They are those disciples who talk too much and too soon and too self-centeredly, and who present to the world an ideal toward which they are indeed working, but which they are as yet unable to materialize, owing to the inadequacy of their equipment. They affirm their belief in terms of accomplished fact and cause much stumbling among the little ones. But at the same time, they are working towards the goal. They are mentally in touch with the ideal and with the Plan. They are aware of forces and energies utterly unknown to the majority. Their only mistake is in the realm of time, for they affirm prematurely that which some day they will be. Esoteric Psychology Vol II, Pages 12-13
