Prayers and the New Song

The book under discussion in chapter five of Revelation represents the knowledge of God as it is revealed through the Oneness principle and differing types of revelation takes place on the various planes. One of the meanings of the seven seals is the implication that there is specific knowledge and principles that apply to our sphere of activity which must be loosed and revealed to us.

The 24 elders represent advanced souls (masters) either on heaven or on earth who have perfected the molecular relationship. Whether they are male of female physically does not matter, but they represent 12 male and 12 female energy units. They also represent the higher self.  

A more personalized correspondence is this: The pilgrim incarnates through the zodiac clockwise until he becomes a disciple. Then when he learns to go against the material flow he incarnates in reverse or counterclockwise. The twelve clockwise and 12 counterclockwise increments also corresponds to the 24 points of wisdom represented here for these 24 great lessons makes a master of wisdom, or an Elder before the throne.

“And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.” Rev 5:8

If we skip to verse 11 we see there are three groups praising the Lamb, the beasts, the elders and millions of angels.

Interpretation: The lower self (beasts), the masters (elders) and the inner guides (angels) acknowledge the sacrifice of the lamb, that the disciple has obeyed the soul and followed as the lamb, but has now graduated. The lamb is sacrificed and the lion emerges with all power in heaven and earth. The lamb is not dead, but transformed. He still follows the inner voice but now knows the voice and is as confident as the lion.

So what do the harps represent?

A harp must be tuned and when it is, beautiful music is played for the Master. We not only receive from God but give to him. The playing of the harp signifies that when we attain the Christ consciousness, we become finely tuned in both our lower and higher natures and are likened to a musical instrument joining in the “music of the spheres” to play in the great symphony of God.

Next it speaks of the “golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.”

The golden vials represent the relative perfection of both parts of the of the nature of the Christed one. Such a divine servant senses the prayers and desires of the saints, or those who are pure in heart, following the highest they know. He then performs the duty of the name of Christ and reaches out to those who pray for more light and truth, and seeks to give it to them so they can advance to where he is. This is the true work of Christ.

Each of us can search for the gold (truth) within us and share it with those who are seeking. We do this to some degree in this group. It is our duty to listen to the prayers of the saints.

The New Song

Here are the next two verses

“And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.” Rev 5:9

“And they sung a new song…”

The word “new” here bears examining. There are two basic words for new in the Biblical Greek. The first is NEOS which means new in the point of time. The second is KAINOS which has the same meaning as NEOS but with the addition that the thing is new in the aspect that it has never existed before. When Jesus talked of “new wine” he used NEOS, for wine had existed before the new wine. But all through the book of Revelation KAINOS is used which tells us of things that never were which are coming to pass.

When John therefore speaks of singing a new song he is speaking of a new creation, something that was not sung before. When God in Revelation says he does “all things new” it means he is creating that which has never existed in the past.

There is truth in the statement of Solomon that “there is nothing new under the sun,” but it is not literally true as evidenced by Revelation for there always comes a cycle where a new creation manifests that is different than any other in the universe.

How does this relate to us?

When the seeker contacts the soul, the Christ in him, he discovers new principles and knowledge that was never before seen by him and his whole being, higher and lower, sing with joy, a new song of thankfulness.

Now keep in mind that the song is new, not the repetition of that which is old. It reads:

“Thou art worthy to take the book,”

The fact that one discovers he is worthy when the Christ within is contacted is new to the seeker. All this time he saw himself as unworthy and now he sees through the eyes of Christ that he is sinless before God. This is a new and joyous revelation.”

…and to open the seals thereof…”

Soul contact reveals that he is worthy of unlocking knowledge that he thought was sealed to him and could only be given to prophets and holy men.

“for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation.”

The old self who saw himself as limited and unworthy is slain and replaced by the worthy Christ within. The great and new realization is that this blood (the life of Christ) is available not just to you, or holy men of the past, but all peoples, tongues and nations.

“And hast made us unto our God kings and priests…”

Those who discover the Christ within become a king of their own domain and universe. They no longer bear the mark of the beast where an outward authority (king) must give them permission to think or to act, but they have discovered the true authority within.

The seeker no longer goes to any Priest to make intercession with God, but he is his own priest and can contact the God within for himself.

“…and we shall reign on the earth.”

Spirit has always reigned in heaven, but now something new has occurred. When the seeker finds the Christ within, he discovers that the Christ in heaven has also manifested through him as the Christ on earth. Since Christ has all power in “heaven and earth,” he reigns through us on earth as in heaven.

A reader quotes me as follows: “There is truth in the statement of Solomon that ‘there is nothing new under the sun,’ but it is not literally true”

Then he says, “Well is it true or isn’t it JJ? Can’t have it both ways.”

JJ: I am not trying to have it both ways and my beliefs do not collide here.

What I said was comparable to saying there is truth in the statement “an atom is like a solar system,” but it is not literally a solar system.” Or, there is truth in the statement “an airplane is like a bird, but it is not literally a bird.”

Even so there is truth in the statement that “there is nothing new under the sun.” And what is that truth?

It is true that history repeats many elements of itself so that no matter what happens there are some similarities to what has happened in the past.

The United States, for instance, has many similarities to ancient Rome and even more ancient Atlantis. Some look at the similarities and think there is nothing new going on because certain elements have repeated.

But not all elements have repeated. There is a forward cycle to all evolution and within this forward cycle there are certain elements that are totally new and never been externalized before.

Every new entity that comes to the earth is like any other entity in many ways, but in other ways it is new and unique, different than any other living thing in the universe.

Thus there is truth in Solomon’s truism, but there is also truth in the use of KAINOS in Revelation, or new things that have never before exactly been.

These two gleanings of truth from seemingly contradictory scriptures highlights two statements from DK.

(1) “Words veil truth.” In other words, it is difficult to put a thought into words so its meaning is literally seen in every application.

(2) He also said that two sets of teachings from even masters may appear to contradict, even though they do not when seen from a higher angle.

Questions concerning Revelation chapter five:

(1) What did God look like?

(2) What is the meaning of the rainbow?

(3) Who are the 24 Elders? Do you think they are all men? What is the meaning of the crowns of Gold?

First, we are told that God was to “look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.”

Now the interesting thing is that exactly what a jasper and sardine stone was 2000 years ago may have been lost to history. Plato mentions these three stones in his writings as very precious and they are mentioned several other times in the scriptures. Later in Revelations we are told that the light of the New Jerusalem “was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.” Rev 21:11

Why is this significant?

Because the modern jasper is a dull opaque stone whereas the jasper of revelation was “clear as crystal.” Some scholars think John may have been describing a diamond or something similar. On the other hand, the sardine stone was supposed to be blood red. Scholars believe the emerald of ancient times was similar to the modern emerald.

When John saw God he thus saw a translucent white light contrasted by a deep red and the reflection of a rainbow of colors around the throne that looked like light reflected through an emerald.

There is another mention of the contrast of white and blood red in Rev 7:14 “These (the saints) are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

The robes of the saints were made white by being washed in blood. Did John see a correspondence of this symbol in that the Jasper is made clear white through the contrast of the blood red of the sardine stone?

A major point to consider is John does not describe God as a man sitting on a throne, but as lights resting upon and around the throne.

Even so, when the disciple goes within he will discover a door and on the other side of the door he will discover a variety of lights, or God resting upon his throne.

Here is one description that DK gives of the light in the head: “This pathway of light leads to the heart of a dark blue disk at the very centre of which you were told I could be contacted. Those of you who are in any way adept at meditation work know well that the light in the head when seen and recognised passes usually through three stages of intensification:

“a. It is, first of all, a diffused light, surrounding the head, discovered later within the head and producing an inner radiance, which is the rudimentary halo.

“b. This diffused light then consolidates and becomes an inner radiant sun.

“c. Finally, at the centre of that sun, a point of dark blue, or a small indigo disk, appears. This is, in reality, the exit in the head through which the soul passes out of the world of phenomenal existence, and it is the symbol of the path or the door into the kingdom of God. This is the symbolical interpretation of the phenomena.”

In addition he makes another interesting statement: “The human being who has taken the highest of all our planetary initiations is termed “the diamond-souled” the man who can perfectly transmit the pure white light and yet reflect equally all the colours of the rainbow, the seven colours of the chromatic scale. His personality is here called by the same term for it has become a transmitter of the inner light or radiance.”

He also calls the link between the higher and lower self the rainbow bridge. The personality has all the colors of the rainbow which are merged into the one white light of God.

The lower self circulates around the throne of God, but the final light sitting upon the throne is white, clear as crystal.

Round about the throne were 24 Elders. When the scriptures says “elder” we have a tendency to think of a male dominated position, but the word comes from the Greek: PRESBUTEROS which implies old or ancient, These twenty four also sat on thrones, mistranslated as seats.

As we said at the beginning the book is about the unveiling of Jesus Christ and for what was Christ most famous? The first historical human molecule of twelve human units, twelve male with twelve female companions. The twenty-four have thrones as God does because they are extensions of the full consciousness of Christ.

Finally, the crowns of gold symbolize the victory over the lower nature and the ability to maintain soul contact at all times so the molecular order maintains its presence before the throne of God.

Here are the next two voices:

“And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. Rev 4:6 And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.” Rev 4:5-6

Contemplate as to what the symbols in these verses mean.

The lightenings from the throne or presence of God are flashes of light, intuition and revelation the seeker discovers as he approaches the inner presence.

The thunderings are the inner quaking  that penetrates to the core as one senses the voice of God within.

The voices are the expressed communication the seeker makes as he translates the revelation into words as he teaches his fellowmen the principles he received.

The seven spirits of God are the seven chakras as they apply to the individual.

The Sea of Glass is the highest of the seven planes or the “divine.” On the physical level that which corresponds to this is space itself, whether it be the space which holds the stars or the space within our being.

Whereas space in the physical plane is filled with blackness, space within the divine is filled with light and produces the effect of a sea of glass to the seer.

Now think some more about the meaning of the four beasts and the eyes within.

“„…round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever.” Rev 4:6-9

The most obvious thing of interest here is that these four beasts are symbols of the fixed cross of the zodiac. The first beast was the lion, the symbol of Leo, the second a calf for Taurus, the third a man, a symbol of Aquarius and the fourth a flying eagle, one of the symbols of Scorpio. Each sign of the zodiac is in one of the three crosses: the mutable, the fixed and the cardinal. The fact that all four of these signs are in one cross shows that the astrological connection is no coincidence, but an important message is embedded therein through symbolism.

The meaning of the fixed cross signifies fixed intent, persistence, reliability and firmness – that which can be depended upon.

This gave the early saints three messages: (1) You can depend on God to stand by you, (2) he who endures to the end shall be saved, (3) a symbol of the cross whereon the Son of God was fixed between heaven and earth.

Each of the beasts has six wings. Isaiah calls these beasts Seraphim “In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the LORD sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.” Isaiah 6:1-3

Searaphim comes from the Hebrew SARAPH and means “burning or fiery ones.” This is translated as “fiery serpents” in Numbers 21:6 & 8 and as a “fiery flying serpent” in Isaiah 14:29

The fact that these four beasts are associated with serpents (a symbol of wisdom) tells us that there is much wisdom to be gained through an understanding of the fours signs of the fixed cross. The fact that they are fiery before the throne of God is a sign that enlightenment can come through the contemplation of God’s handiwork in the heavens.

The six wings are a symbol of the six worlds of creation with the seventh being the throne of God or the sea of glass. Four wings cover the fiery light and only two are in use which tells us that average humanity cannot see (wings covering the face) or work (wings covering the feet) in the higher worlds. They are limited to two worlds ˆ the physical and emotional. When the “mark of the beast” is removed, two more wings shall be free and cause the seeker to gain greater power of flight to the world of the mind and intuition or higher love.

The four beasts were “full of eyes before and behind.” [ Rev 4:6] “Before” is a symbol of a vision of the future and “behind” a symbol of the past. The beasts speak of that “which was, and is, and is to come.” [ Rev 4:8]

This tells us that when we uncover the secrets of the throne of God (the stars of heaven) that we can decode the secrets of the past, present and future.

This is the destiny of the science of astrology, which is yet in its infancy as far as the general understanding of humanity is concerned.

Unveiling Revelation

Time for a new venture my friends.

Several times over the past few years have readers expressed an interest in unlocking more of the secrets of the Apocalypse, or the Book of Revelation. When we first started the Keys we spent several months on the most mysterious of all scripture which was Chapter Thirteen of the book dealing with the Beast and the antichrist. This continues to this day to be among my most quoted writings delivering interpretations found nowhere else, except as they have been placed in circulation since that time.

Now we will go through the rest of the vision of John and again instead of taking orthodox interpretation we shall search for the real meaning behind the symbols. This may take a while to complete, but when done we should have plenty of material for a book or two and hopefully, we can shed light where before there were only shades of gray.

The first three chapters are not part of the Great vision, but are messages to the seven churches at that time. Even these are more interesting than meets the eye, but for the sake of brevity we shall skip over them at this time, except for the first three verses of the first chapter which applies to the book as a whole and reads:

“The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.” Rev 1:1-3

There are several interesting statements here that are ignored by many commentators.

(1) The book is a “Revelation of Jesus Christ.”

“Revelation” here comes from the Greek APOKALUPSIS. Does this Greek word look a little familiar? It should for it is the word from which “Apocalypse” is derived. The book is sometimes called the Book of Revelation and sometimes The Apocalypse, but in reality the name is the same. “Apocalypse” is the Greek rendition and “Revelation” the English of the same word.

Let us examine the word a little more carefully. APOKALUPSIS is translated in a variety of ways including, “revelation, be revealed, to lighten, manifestation, coming and appearing.” It is derived from the Greek APOKALUPTO which means “to take off the cover.” This is perhaps the reason the Concordant version translates the word as “unveiling.” In fact, their translation does not name the book Revelation or the Apocalypse, but “The Unveiling of Jesus Christ.” Unveiling has a deeper meaning than the word revelation. A revelation of Jesus Christ could occur by having a short vision and seeing his image. But an unveiling is a different story. A short vision could not do this. To unveil Jesus Christ would imply the revealing of his mystery, layer after layer until there is a full understanding of the light received.

I therefore, submit that the purpose of the book is much more than a mere revelation that there is such a being as the Christ, but that there is an unfolding of a mystery like the unfolding of a flower by the power of the light of the Sun.

Keep this thought in mind as we proceed.

(2) John was shown things “which must shortly come to pass.”

This seems to be an odd statement indeed when almost 2000 years has passed since it was written and most believe that the events have still not come to pass. Where is the great comet striking the earth? Where is the antichrist and where are the waters that are turned to blood etc? 2000 years is not a short time by any human standard, yet the scripture says these things would shortly come to pass.

Now note the end of verse three:

“the time is at hand.”

Not only is the time short, but the time is at hand. Is it possible that all predictions within the book have already happened, or perhaps they repeat themselves on a cyclic nature? This is a good question to keep in mind as we examine the text.

(3) “Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.” Verse 3

Thus is a very interesting statement. Why?

Because most people who read the book do not feel blessed. Many feel almost cursed with fear instead because of all the calamities predicted there. How can you feel blessed when you feel that a good portion of the earth may be destroyed and many loved ones will suffer great calamities?

Or is it possible the book is misunderstood, that the real purpose is to unveil Jesus Christ and such an unveiling will bring a blessing and not a curse?

Keep this thought in mind as we move forward.

Now let us go to the first part of the vision:

“After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.” Rev 4:1-2

The first thing you might want to do is to get an overview of chapter four and read the whole thing.

For purposes of interpretation forget the literal vision and whether or not John saw images with a real existence. Instead remember this one important point. All form, real or imagined, represents a real inner truth that can enlighten the understanding.

Questions:

(1) What is the door which was open in heaven?

(2) Why did the first voice sound like a trumpet? What is the meaning of the sound of a trumpet?

(3) What is the throne set in heaven?

Lucifer Publishing

Distortion Number 4.

Alice A. Bailey’s publishing company, now called Lucis Trust, was originally called Lucifer Publishing Company. This proves she is in league with the devil.

This is the only criticism of Alice A. Bailey that, on the surface, has any validity, but that which appears on the surface is not always as it seems.

Alice A. Bailey was among other things originally a born-again Christian minister and a strong believer in Christ – so why would she choose such a name?

The answer is that she was a serious student of the writings and works of H. P. Blavatsky and she had a magazine she named Lucifer. I believe this inspired Bailey to also use the name.

The next question is why did H. P. Blavatsky use this name?

The answer is this. When H. P. Blavatsky began her work she suffered vicious attacks by the Christian communities. She viewed the churches as corrupt institutions and sometimes made fun of them in their illusions.

Blavatsky then came up with the ultimate idea of tweaking her enemies’ emotions. She named her magazine Lucifer. This sealed her doom in the eyes of her opposition, for surely this was an open admission that she was in league with the devil himself.

But was it?

No, not by any means.

Why?

The answer will surprise most Bible readers and it is this:

Lucifer is NOT the name of Satan, any devils or adversaries of love and light.

Who does bear the name then?

According to the Bible it is Christ and the redeemed. Peter also used the name in a positive light.

But aren’t we told that the one who fell was called Lucifer?

Answer: Yes, we are told that, but that was his name BEFORE he fell when he was a bringer of light. Now one of his current titles is the “Prince of Darkness,” a much different title than “Prince of Light” or “Bringer of Light,” which is the meaning of the title Lucifer.

Here are some words from none other than Peter:

“We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts.” II Peter 1:19

The words “day star” is taken from the Greek word for Lucifer which is PHŌSPHOROS.

Now let us literally retranslate:

“We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and Lucifer arise in your hearts.”

If Lucifer refers to the devil himself maybe the Christian world should burn their Bibles.

Another variation of Lucifer is “Morning Star.” Note the actual promise of Jesus to the faithful:

“And I will give him the morning star.” Rev 2:28

Evidently Jesus will give us the power of Lucifer.

Even more shocking Jesus calls himself a Lucifer:

“I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.” Rev 22:16

Let us literally retranslate this:

“I am the root and the offspring of David, and Lucifer.” Rev 22:16

Morning Star is only translated as Lucifer once in most Bibles as follows:

“How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north.” Isaiah 14:12-13

Even here most Bible scholars believe Lucifer refers to the king of Babylon which was addressed by Isaiah. Nevertheless, Isaiah often spoke with dual meaning and this has a definite correspondence to a fallen being.

Lucifer is a Roman word applied to the Hebrew HEYLEL and the GREEK PHOSPHOROS which literally means “One who brings or carries forth light.” It could also be translated as “one who is able to hold light.”

Now let us see what the Mormon scriptures tell us about this name. The name is only used once here:

“And this we saw also, and bear record, that an angel of God who was in authority in the presence of God, who rebelled against the Only Begotten Son whom the Father loved and who was in the bosom of the Father, was thrust down from the presence of God and the Son. And was called Perdition, for the heavens wept over him–he WAS (but not now) Lucifer, a son of the morning. And we beheld, and lo, he is fallen! is fallen, even a son of the morning!” D&C 76:25-27

Notice here that Lucifer was “a” son of the Morning, NOT “the” Son of the Morning.”

Also notice that it says he “was” Lucifer not “is.”

He is fallen and no longer can be called a “Son of the Morning.”

What is a Son of the Morning?

It is a being who was with God at the beginning, or morning, of time, as we know it.

The name, Lucifer, which refers to a Son of the Morning, is not the name of one evil being, but is a reference to pristine and holy ancient beings who were conscious creators before this earth rolled into existence.

Here is another reference from the Bible to the Lucifers:

“Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; When the morning stars (Lucifers) sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?” Job38:4-7

Now here is a thought. If the Lucifer that fell lost his status and there is more than one Lucifer (or bringer of light) – that means there would be good ones out there somewhere.

Lucifer also refers to Venus and for good reason. It has been called the bright and morning star for thousands of years. When it is visible it will often be the only star (or planet) visible in the early morning light – this the bringer of the new light of the morning.

Early Mormon doctrine expressed the belief that the first man (the first Adam) came from another planet and that he had already passed through human existence and had overcome all things and became exalted. After he came here he took upon himself mortality to become the father of the race of mankind.

Brigham Young made the statement that Adam was our God, “the only God with whom we have to do.”

This harmonizes well with the writings of Bailey and Blavatsky who also teach that the first man came from another planet. They tell us that the Ancient of Days, Sanat Kumara, came here from Venus (the morning star) 23 million years ago.

They also teach that he once lived as a mortal man like ourselves in another system eons ago and came here to be a father and God to the human race.

When the ancient of days came here he arrived with a number of morning stars called Kumaras. Here are Alice A. Bailey’s writings about the one who we call the fallen Lucifer:

“In every grouping,-whether in heaven or on earth-there is always evidenced a tendency by some units in the group to revolt, to rebel and to show some form of initiative different to that of the other units in the same grouping. This “fall of the angels” was a tremendous event in the history of our planet, but was nevertheless only a passing and interesting phenomenon in the history of the solar system, and a trifling incident in the affairs of the seven constellations, of which our solar system is but one. Pause and consider this statement for a moment, and so readjust your sense of values. The standard of happenings varies in importance according to the angle of vision, and what (from the angle of our Earth’s unfoldment in consciousness) may be a factor of prime importance and of determining value may (from the angle of the universe) be of trifling moment.” Esoteric Psychology, Vol 1, Page 394

Because the name Lucifer is now so rigidly associated with evil instead of light few dare use the term openly, but originally Lucifer was a glorious title.

Even though they were technically correct and solidly in the light in the light to use the word, it was indeed not good public relations for H. P. Blavatsky or Alice A. Bailey to use this name, which is so misunderstood by humanity and Bailey was wise to drop its use.

Distorted Attacks

I read some more Bailey critics today and it is indeed disgusting how those who claim to be under the Lordship of a Master such as the Christ can use such deception. It is ironic that the deception they use is a characteristic of the devil whom they claim to oppose.

Let us take a look at some of their distortions.

Distortion Number One:

The Great Invocation is evil.

The distortion of the Great Invocation is a prime example of this upside down religious world. I notice that this hit piece has made its way on a number of sites.

First of all let us quote the Invocation as it was given:

THE GREAT INVOCATION

From the point of Light within the Mind of God

Let light stream forth into the minds of men.

Let Light descend on Earth.

From the point of Love within the Heart of God

Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.

May Christ return to Earth.

From the centre where the Will of God is known

Let purpose guide the little wills of men—

The purpose which the Masters know and serve.

From the centre which we call the race of men

Let the Plan of Love and Light work out.

And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth

Beautiful prayer is it not? If we accept it the way it reads (an there is no reason why we should not) then all may be edified.

But no. These guys see a devil under every rock. Here is how the religious fanatics tell us to interpret this prayer. They say that to get the true meaning, the words of the Invocation need to be drastically redefined as follows:

  • Light = Luciferian Enlightenment

*    God = Satan

*    stream forth = overshadow

*    love = various forms of Scriptually defined evil or, generally hatred.

*    Christ = Antichrist

*    little wills of men = the claimed unintelligent, weak and inferior desires of individuals; especially those that follow conservative Judeo-Christian doctrine.

*    purpose = to prepare for the appearance of the Antichrist

*    Masters = demons or demon controlled individuals.

*    race of men = “humanity” as ruled by Lucifer

*    plan = complete domination in preparation for and after the appearance of the Antichrist.

*    seal the door where evil dwells = violent, if necessary, eradication of those that follow Judaism, conservative Christianity, some liberal Christianity, and other similar orthodox religions. [note: this is so because of the “separateness” of these religious views.

*    power = often hideous and actual destructive forces.

Amazing. With this type of twisted thinking the Gettysburg address could be made to sound like a speech right out of the jaws of hell.

Let us suppose the enemies of Jesus did this same type of warped redefinition with the Lord’s Prayer which reads as follows:

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Now if these religious zealots were back in the days of Jesus here is what they would have done to this beautiful prayer. The words in parenthesis are similar distortions to what they have done to the Great invocation.

Our Father (Satan) which art in heaven (Hell), Hallowed be thy name (Beelzebub – name of the devil)

Thy kingdom (evil tyranny) come. Thy will (will to evil) be done in earth, as it is in heaven (Hell).

Give us this day our daily bread (food of death).

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. (destroy the law of Moses)

And lead us not into temptation, (avoid good) but deliver us from evil (God): For thine (the devil) is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

This was a very easy thing to do – to take something beautiful and destroy it through deceit. Those who claim to bear the name of Christ should wither and shrink in shame before real honesty, which is taught by the Master.

There is a lot of truth in the statement that it is easier to curse the darkness than to light a candle.

The Great Invocation is indeed a lighted candle, which is cursed by those in darkness.

Distortion Number Two:

Hitler embraced the Bailey Teachings.

It is true that Hitler and his group had an interest in some metaphysical and occult teachings while at the same time making some of them forbidden to the general population.

It is also true that Hitler claimed to be a Christian and a believer God and the Bible.

These facts do not make any particular metaphysical teaching evil, not does it make Christ into a devil.

Hitler, however, had no interest in the teachings of Alice A. Bailey because all the revelations from DK did nothing but condemn him. The Tibetan did all in his power to encourage an Allied victory and urged all disciples to meditate and visualize toward that end.

Here is just one of the many statements made about Hitler in the Bailey writings. Note that this was given out in April of 1940 when there were still many in America who thought Hitler was nothing to worry about.

“The totalitarian order must go because it is contrary to the spiritual vision. The world order, as visioned by Hitler, is based upon the subjection of the weak to the rule of a super-Germany; it is one in which the life of the little nations will be allowed to go on just in so far as they serve the need of Germany. The lesser Axis powers are permitted existence only because they benefit German aims—Italy, to give Germany scope in the Mediterranean; Japan, to handle the Asiatic problem which is too large for Germany to handle alone. It is an order whose intention is that the best of all industrial and agricultural products shall go to Germany and the unwanted residue to the little nations. It is an order in which the educational processes will be controlled by the dominant super-race. All departments of knowledge will be subordinated to the glorification of Germany. Germany will be portrayed as the seed of all world glory, and as the ruthless saviour of mankind; the beauties of war, of struggle and of physical strength will be emphasised, and these so-called admirable objectives of the human spirit will be developed to produce a race of men in whom the “effeminate” beauties of loving kindness and wise consideration for others will find no place.

“I would call your attention to the teaching now being given to the German youth. Might is right. The German belongs to the super-race, and all other races are inferior. Only a chosen aristocracy should be permitted the privilege of education and of rule. The masses of the people are no more than cattle and exist only to be slaves of the superior race. War is to men what childbirth is to women. War is a natural process and therefore eternally right. All sources of supply must be controlled by Germany, and consequently even those nations at present neutral must be brought under the German sphere of influence. The totalitarian powers will dominate the economic system of the world and control all imports and exports. The standard of living in both hemispheres will be lowered; everything will be related to the good of Germany, and no other nation will be considered. Christian teaching and Christian ethics must necessarily be eliminated, because Germany regards Christianity and its divine Founder as effeminate and weak, as emphasising the softer qualities of human nature, and as responsible for the decadence of all nations, except Germany. Christianity must also be overthrown because it is based on Jewish sources; the rule of Christ must come to an end, because only the rule of force is right.

“In the world order of the Axis powers, the individual has no rights; he has no freedom except in so far as he serves the state; there will be no liberty of thought or conscience, all issues will be decided by the state, and the private citizen will have no right to an opinion. Men will be drafted like slaves into the service of the state.

“Such is the picture of the order which the Axis powers are preparing to impose upon the world, and TO THIS THEIR OWN WORDS TESTIFY. Only insight into the true nature of this crisis, a determination to face the facts, and fearlessness will suffice to defeat Hitler. This conquering fearlessness must be based on a recognition of the spiritual values involved, on a belief in God, and on a commonsense which is determined to establish security, right human relations and liberty.” From Externalization of the Hierarchy Pages 187-189

Distortion Number Three:

The purpose of the Bailey writings is to lay the foundation for a one world tyrannical government headed up by the U.N.

It should be obvious just from reading the last quote that this idea is entirely untrue.

Skeptics say – “yes, this may sound good but evil ones will tell you a thousand truths to get you to believe one lie.”

This idea is just a cop-out so one can have license to condemn the good, the beautiful and the true in the name of squashing that hidden lie that lies beneath the surface somewhere. Such was the spirit of the inquisition that caused the death and suffering of thousands of innocent people. Such was also the spirit of those who persecuted the early Saints who started the New Testament Church.

When we examine the lives and teachings of people who proved themselves to be adversaries of mankind we see that this “thousand truths for one lie” idea was not a reliable compass in identifying them.

If one studies Hitler’s writings and speeches before he came to power we see that he told the world what he was going to do and then went and did it. Historians today are amazed, on hindsight, how the people of his day ignored what he actually said. To them it should have been obvious that he would have been a tyrant because he made it clear that the “superior minds” should make decisions for the ignorant masses.

If you study the words and actions of Stalin, Saddam Hussein, Napoleon, Nero and other enemies of humankind we see that none of them were clever enough to only give out good and loving words of light to deceive the masses. Their words and actions given out before they came to power revealed quite accurately what they were like when they were in power. What gives these despots power over the people is that if they say one or two things that people want to hear that the unthinking will ignore the warning signs staring them in the face.

Throughout the 24 Alice A. Bailey books there is a consistent emphasis on honoring the free will of man and the elimination of tyranny. A true tyrant will reveal himself in one book, but there is no sign of such in the 24 Bailey books.

As far as the UN goes Bailey died shortly after its inception, but DK did make several comments on the young organization. He said it was far from perfect, but it was all humanity had at that time to work with and we should do all within our power to guide it in the right direction. He stated that a mistake made in its formation was to allow the totalitarian states full membership. He felt it would have a much better chance for success if it was initiated by the free world and then nations come into it as they recognize the rights of mankind.

What would DK say about the UN as it exists today? We can only guess as he has not spoken to the world for many years. I would guess he would give us some warnings and criticisms of it that may surprise some of his followers. On the other hand, he would probably say some good things also.

In their attempt to portray Bailey as supportive of the current U.N. and a one world conspiracy these Christians who claim in believing in honesty give this Bailey quote with their distortions in parenthesis:

“So the Hierarchy took its stand upon the side of the United Nations…. [The] men and leaders [of the UN] were carefully chosen and picked disciples were placed in positions of power and authority. The leaders of the United Nations and of their armies … are able to work — consciously or unconsciously — under the inspiration of the Hierarchy. On account of this decision of the Hierarchy, Christ [Maitreya] became automatically the Leader of these Forces.” (Alice Bailey, ‘The Externalization of the Hierarchy’ (Lucis Publishing Company, 1957) p. 476 7. Ibid., p. 603)

This is an extremely obvious attempt at deception. The above was written in April 1945 before the United Nations was even formed and World War II was not yet over. What DK was talking about was the nations united (the Allies) against Hitler (the Axis Powers).

To take an obvious statement by DK stating that the Hierarchy supported the nations united against Hitler and to alter it to make it sound like the words support a Hitler type of government is obscene and a symptom of spiritual disease.

I enjoy a good philosophical argument with people who are willing to tell the truth, but these “accusers of the brethren” can only argue with deception and need to take their own advice and “repent.”

Clarifying Blavatsky

Clarifying Blavatsky

A reader had been reading about Madame Blavatsky and expressed concern over comments she was supposed to have made.

He was concerned about quotes such as: “Satan is the grandest of ideals”, “Lucifer is the Holy Ghost”, “the Logos and Satan are one” and “God and Satan” (are) “identical”.

Did you find these quotes yourself or did you take them from some fundamentalist Christian site? I would be surprised if you found them through your own reading of H. P. Blavatsky for if you did you should be aware that the way you have presented them distorts that which Blavatsky was trying to portray.

Let us go through them one by one.

(1) Satan is the grandest of ideals.

This is indeed a distortion and is a fabricated quote. Here is what she really said.

“Yes, indeed; it is this grandest of ideals, this ever-living symbol — nay apotheosis — of self-sacrifice for the intellectual independence of humanity; this ever active Energy protesting against Static Inertia — the principle to which Self-assertion is a crime, and Thought and the Light of Knowledge odious.” Secret Doctrine, Vol 2, Page 507

Before making this statement she quoted several authors commenting on the fallen spirits (which she identifies as present humanity and earth as hell) and states that it is a grand ideal leave static inertia and assert our free will in order to progress.

Is such freedom a true principle to which we aspire?

Indeed, yes.

(2) Lucifer is the Holy Ghost

Again, let us look at the original quote.

“Lucifer is divine and terrestrial light, the ‘Holy Ghost’ and ‘Satan,’ at one and the same time, visible Space being truly filled with the differentiated Breath invisibly.” Secret Doctrine, Vol 2, Page 513

Here she is giving a fairly esoteric interpretation quite different from orthodoxy. She calls terrestrial light the Holy Ghost and the space that holds that light Satan.

The question is why would she call space Satan and the light within that space Lucifer?

To understand why she says this one must study her teachings on the subject.

As I’ve said many times there are a number of different interpretations that can be applied to the scriptures or inspired words. There are also numerous cycles where history is repeated. The fall, the rebellious spirits, Satan and Lucifer all have a number of correspondences that can apply in various circumstances.

We have falls and rebellions periodically here on our physical earth. We are told by DK that there was a rebellion in the Council chamber of Sanat Kumara in the early history of the planet. There have been many other rebellions up the ladder until we get to original creation and this is where we have to look to understand Blavatsky’s application of Satan here.

Her interpretation goes something like this. Creation itself involved a rebellion against living in worlds of pure changeless spirit. We are the rebellious angels (or prodigal sons) who descended into matter to experience and explore. This is made possible by creation through the interplay of light (Lucifer) and Satan (space).

If you look at the principles that she is attempting to teach you see no evil, but if we react to catch phrases then evil can be seen where there is none.

(3) The Logos and Satan are one” and “God and Satan” (are) “identical

Again one has to look at the context. She is not writing from the Christian viewpoint. If she were this would be an alarming statement. She is writing from one of several esoteric views which is this.

She is saying that the originating God is pure spirit and all lives great and small that enter into creation are, in a sense, rebels against the static life of that pure spirit. Therefore, all beings who have anything to do with entering into creation are Satan and his angels. Therefore any being who is called God and can be contacted by man, such as Jehovah, is satanic and part of the original rebellion. But she maintains that it was a good thing that we had creation and that we came to this earth.

This does not negate the standard (and separate) Christian interpretation that there are rebellions within creation itself and there are good and evil spirits and light and dark from which we may chose.

DK expands on this by teaching of a brotherhood of light and dark which have evolved from the human kingdom.

The reader then recounted popular conspiracy theories that involve Blavatsky and Alice A. Bailey as part of a plot to take over the world with a one world dictatorship.

Most of those who are a danger to freedom on the earth know nothing of Blavatsky or Alice A. Bailey. Just as many in the past have committed evil in the name of Christ so some can commit evil in the name of any teacher. This does not mean that Christ or any other teacher is evil. Both Hitler and Einstein had H. P. Blavatsky’s works in their library. I’m sure they both also had bibles.

We are headed toward a one world government. This is a natural course of evolution for the planet. The choice isn’t whether or not we will eventually have universal government, but instead what kind we shall have. It is the eternal struggle of those who value liberty to work toward good government that allows maximum freedom. Unfortunately many of the best and brightest are sitting back and letting the lesser lights decide the course of world affairs.

Next the reader criticized the United States for its lack of freedom

No government on the earth is perfect, but I cannot think of one that has more respect for freedom than the United States. Outside of having to pay more taxes than I want my life has not been effected by any dictates coming down by authorities that have effected me adversely for years. It takes a stretch of the imagination to see myself as being dictated to in some Stalinist fashion as you infer.

This is indeed a lot better situation than one where a citizen must watch his every word. I haven’t had to be careful with my words since I left orthodox religion. On the other hand, if you were to stand on a street corner in France with a sign saying “I support Bush” someone would probably throw rocks at you.

All are free to run for president here. We even have a presidential candidate as a member of the Keys.

(Note from 2021: Unfortunately the country has drifted away from freedom since this post was written. Now we do have to watch what we say or we could be attacked and thrown off social media and lose our voices.)

Enlightened Learning

I was asked for advice from a new reader as to how to approach learning here.

As far as my writings go, overall they will be much easier to understand than the Bailey material. It will generally be helpful though to either start at the beginning of the archives and read some each day, or at least start at the beginning of the discussion of the current subject material and move up to the present. I attempt to guide each subject so a new person can read a few posts and catch up with the current thought.

During these past three years I have attempted to introduce some new concepts and clarify some old ones that will be useful to students in their quest for understanding. Therefore, those who have read all the archives have a fairly clear idea of where I am going with new material, but hopefully those who are new will catch on quickly and feel comfortable posting.

Whenever I introduce a word that is not known to most of the group I attempt to define it clearly, because words not understood can greatly hinder understanding.

On the other hand, reading Djwhal Khul is a different matter. He is writing for the serious student of the Ancient Wisdom and expects his readers to have already done some homework before taking him on.

Somewhere in the 24 books will be a definition of most of his terms, but you can often read hundreds of pages without getting a clear meaning to some of his words and phrases.

Therefore, an essential ingredient to accompany you in reading DK is a good glossary to Theosophical, Buddhic and Hindu terms. You can find this at: LINK

For those of you who are attempting to read the Bailey material let me give you some advice that would have greatly helped me if I had it when I first started studying the books.

Every time you come across a word you do not know make a note of it and look it up in the glossary. Keep a record of these words and their meanings so you can go back and refer to them when needed.

If you do this one simple thing it will not be that long before the Bailey material becomes as easy to read as Stephen King.

As you’re reading the material for the first time there will come regular intervals where you will feel it is all beyond your understanding and that you are wasting your time. Fortunately, he addressed this issue.

He tells us to not worry about the times we are reading his material and do not seem to be absorbing it. He encourages us to move along and continue reading anyway – that we are taking in more than we think and if we continue the day will come when the pieces will fit together and understanding will be realized.

This was certainly the case with me. I had to force my way through my first Bailey book (in the early Seventies) for I had no glossary and no knowledge of Theosophy and knew of no other person on the earth who had even read any of the books. But then after reading two or three of the books I started getting much more comfortable with the writing and they have continued to become clearer to this day.

Actually, reading Isaiah from the Bible may be even more difficult to adjust to than Djwhal Khul’s writings. I had to read him a half dozen times before I could start to make sense of those mysterious words. Then, of course, the Book of Revelation is more difficult still.

Those with an LDS background will relate to a light-hearted problem Mormon students have. In the church beginning students sometimes complain that the regular Christians have it easy. All they have to learn is one book – The Bible. But a good Mormon has to be proficient in four books of scripture – The Bible, the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price.

Now for a seeker unfettered by Dogma, the Mormon problem seems like a piece of cake. Once the Bailey books are seen to contain great light you have 24 more books to incorporate into your learning, not to mention voluminous Secret Doctrine and dozens of other good books by various enlightened authors. Then there’s the Keys archives to keep you busy.

A true seeker would have it no other way. He would much rather have more material than he could ever learn than not enough.

Unfortunately, there are many in the churches of the world who find themselves in the midst of an illusionary famine. They’ve read their church materials and want more, but there is no more, so they read their materials again – not realizing that many outside materials condemned by their church as darkness is, in truth, light.

For the past couple months we have been working on the Bailey material and the present goal is to help the student understand some of the basic principles taught in the books

DK considered his teaching on the Rays to be one of his main contributions to the revealed teachings of the world and the understanding of the principles behind them is key to understanding many of his writings.

I hope that covering this and other core subjects will be helpful to many in their search.

Djwhal Khul once said something like this: The physician or engineer may spend many years in school learning their trade yet many seekers read a couple books and feel they are ready to be Masters. To become skilled in metaphysics takes even more knowledge than it takes to be a doctor or engineer. We should not expect to master the truths of the world overnight. But a thousand mile journey begins with the first step and if approached with the right attitude each step is an exciting one.

I personally find Blavatsky harder to read than Djwhal Khul. For anyone new into Theosophy and interested in easier reading to get some foundation teachings, here is a good starting place: LINK

Overall, the Theosophical writings are a good guide to knowledge, even though a number of their misconceptions have been corrected by Djwhal Khul.

There are many good Theosophical writings available online free, even so, I would still recommend reading the Bailey books first, but with the help of a glossary.

One thing on which I must commend the Theosophical Society on is that they have come up with a vast assortment of writings which help to clarify the works of their founder and offer additional speculation. Lucis Trust, the Publisher of the Bailey material, has printed or endorsed little except compilations of Bailey writings. There are a number of independent writings expounding on her though.

Djwhal Khul placed emphasis on not following him as a cut and dried authority, yet almost everyone who quotes him are diligent in not injecting any intuitive thoughts of their own.

This we seek to change here. We will do a minimum of tabulation for those type of things are available elsewhere. Instead we seek to lay a foundation for learning and then look at some of the teachings and take them a step further.

For instance, one current class goal is to get students to contemplate the three sub aspects of the Rays, something I have not seen done before.

When we come across an interesting quote, instead of just saying “run this by your soul and see what happens.” we have you go a step further. We say “run it by your soul and find more than is written there and share.”

If Djwhal Khul mentions “a point of tension” we ask what is a point of tension, what is the principle behind it and how can we apply it in our lives?

It is only recently that we have been putting emphasis on the Bailey writings. Overall if you read the archives, you’ll find I have probably quote the Bible more than any other book and much of the material is not presented clearly in any other book.

With your help and sharing of thoughts I hope to see the Keys as a unique place for accessing creative and original thought, an oasis in the midst of blandness.

The Alice A. Bailey Writings

The Alice A. Bailey Writings

An LDS reader expressed concerns about some negative material that she read about Alice A. Bailey and Lucis Trust.

You must look at Alice A. Bailey critics in a similar vein as you do Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith critics. You know from your experience that they use half truths and completely distort teachings and doctrinal positions.

Enemies of light do the same thing with Alice A. Bailey writings as I am sure they will do with my own when I get better known.

There is no evidence whatsoever that David Rockefeller has anything to do with Lucis Trust. They have published all members of the corporation and all positions and I have never seen his name on any group.

Secondly, the Lucis Trust has had an enormous struggle for money clear from the beginning. They have barely enough to publish their books and pay their staff. They have been wanting to get on a radio station for decades and have just now managed to get on one station. That gives you an idea of the funds they are working with.

Do you think this would be the case if David Rockefeller and a vast wealthy conspiracy were behind the teachings?

I don’t think so. If the Rockefeller wanted this to succeed it would have plenty of money to get on the air and promote its cause.

As far as the name Lucifer is concerned. I have heard enemies claim that was the original name of Lucis trust and this may be true. Madame Blavatsky originally called one of her publications by this name to tweak her enemies. You must keep in mind that when one is released from dogma that the name Lucifer is a high and holy name which means “Bringer of Light.” This is why both Jesus and Peter in the New Testament are called Lucifers.

The fact few realize is that he who fell is no longer called by this title as hinted at in the D&C. Below I am sending you the text of some of my comments on this I wrote on this earlier. You will see there that Alice A. Bailey taught of a Lucifer who did fall who was a close associate of the Ancient of Days or Sanat Kumara.

Yes, Sanat could be conjured as a scrambling of Satan, but there is one great difference. Satan has a hard “a” and Sanat is pronounced softly. Hard a’s are connected with destroying energy and the soft with building.

For instance the word America has soft a’s and was intentionally promoted by the Brotherhood so our country could be created with a spiritual building energy.

Darkness often takes that which is good and distorts or reverses it.

Thus we have Lucifer changed from Lightbringer to a reference to the prince of darkness. We have Sanat turned from a building energy to the destroying sound of Satan.

As far as saying one is subject to the devil because he claims to be subject to the Lord of the World is misled (referring to Satan being called the god of this world) Paul was making a point that people choose evil more than good.

Now look at these scriptures:

“The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.” Psalms 97:5

“And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.” Isa 6:3

“For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.” Isa 54:5

“Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: for I will make thine horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass: and thou shalt beat in pieces many people: and I will consecrate their gain unto the LORD, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth.” Micah 4:13

“Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.” Zech 4:14

From a higher point of view the God of Glory and Light and Truth and Love is the real God of the planet. It merely appears that evil is in control.

As far as the Masonic Lodges are concerned Alice A. Bailey taught just as Joseph Smith did, that they were inspired in the beginning but are corrupted, but eventually will be restored as a useful tool of the brotherhood. Remember Joseph Smith was a Master Mason.

Every possible tool will be used to help the race including schools and churches. Many of the churches are making progress. For Instance, the Catholics have done a lot of good in Central America over the past twenty years and some have give their lives for the cause of freedom.

This black and white labeling of someone or something as all evil because of association is a favorite tool of darkness.

I am also including below page 107 from The Externalization of the Hierarchy. Read it over and I think you’ll see nothing to be alarmed about. In fact once you have read the whole book it is as difficult to call these writings evil as it would be the Bible, or the Book of Mormon you reverence.

Things are never as they seem on the surface and just as the revelations of Joseph Smith stirred things up and caused men to call good evil so will be the case with all teachings until the light of God is anchored on the earth.

When questions like this come up it is good to look to the following principle revealed in Ether:

“But he that believeth these things which I have spoken, him will I visit with the manifestations of my Spirit, and he shall know and bear record. For because of my Spirit he shall know that these things are true; for it persuadeth men to do good.

“And whatsoever thing persuadeth men to do good is of me; for good cometh of none save it be of me. I am the same that leadeth men to all good; he that will not believe my words will not believe me–that I am; and he that will not believe me will not believe the Father who sent me. For behold, I am the Father, I am the light, and the life, and the truth of the world.” Ether 4:11-12

Darkness never seeks to persuade people to follow light and love.

The final test is the Spirit itself. Study things out in your mind and then ask God. Ask God about me and any teaching that I or any other presents and feels what the spirit speaks inside to you. But one must study with an open mind as a little child.

This is one thing I notice that is lacking with many ex Mormons. Anything that goes contrary to their past beliefs they do not seem to study it out and seek an answer from Spirit. This is a core principle for a true seeker.

The second time was at the time of the struggle in Atlantean days between the “Lords of Light and the Lords of Material Expression.”

This little known divine energy now streams out from Shamballa. It embodies in itself the energy which lies behind the world crisis of the moment. It is the Will of God to produce certain racial and momentous changes in the consciousness of the race which will completely alter man’s attitude to life and his grasp of the spiritual, esoteric and subjective essentials of living. This Shamballa energy now for the first time is making its impact upon humanity directly and is not stepped down, as has hitherto been the case, through transmission via the Hierarchy of Masters. This change of direction constituted a somewhat dangerous experiment as it necessarily stimulated the personalities of men, particularly those whose personalities were along the line of will or power and in whom the love aspect of divinity was not sufficiently expressing itself; it was, however, permitted because it was realised that it would not affect the man in the street or the masses who would remain unresponsive to it, though it might greatly stimulate and intensify the mental and more potent type of man.

Alice’s Story

Since the discussion has arisen on Alice A. Bailey, I thought I would let her tell her story in her own words. Below is her account of her first meeting with a Master named Koot Hoomi. Later he turned her over to Djwhal Khul to receive the transmissions essential to laying the foundation teachings for the new age.

It was a Sunday morning. The previous Sunday I had heard a sermon which had aroused all my aspiration. This Sunday, for some reason, I had not gone to Church. All the rest of the house-party had gone and there was no one in the house but myself and the servants. I was sitting in the drawing-room reading. The door opened and in walked a tall man dressed in European clothes (very well cut, I remember) but with a turban on his head. He came in and sat down beside me. I was so petrified at the sight of the turban that I could not make a sound or ask what he was doing there. Then he started to talk. He told me there was some work that it was planned that I could do in the world but that it would entail my changing my disposition very considerably; I would have to give up being such an unpleasant little girl and must try and get some measure of self-control. My future usefulness to Him and to the world was dependent upon how I handled myself and the changes I could manage to make. He said that if I could achieve real self-control I could then be trusted and that I would travel all over the world and visit many countries, “doing your Master’s work all the time.” Those words have rung in my ears ever since. He emphasized that it all depended upon me and what I could do and should do immediately. He added that He would be in touch with me at intervals of several years apart.

The interview was very brief. I said nothing but simply listened whilst He talked quite emphatically. Having said what He had come to say, He got up and walked out, after pausing at the door for a minute to give me a look which to this day I remember very distinctly. I did not know what to make of it all. When I had recovered from the shock, I was first frightened and thought I was going insane or had been to sleep and dreaming and then I reacted to a feeling of smug satisfaction. I felt that I was like Joan of Arc (at that time my heroine) and that, like her, I was seeing spiritual visions and was consequently set aside for a great work. What it was I could not imagine, but pictured myself as the dramatic and admired teacher of thousands. This is a very common mistake on the part of beginners and I see a lot of it today in connection with various occult groups. People’s sincerity and aspiration do succeed in bringing them some inner, spiritual contact and they then interpret it in terms of personality success and importance. A reaction of over-stimulation. This reaction was succeeded by one in which the criticism He had made of me became uppermost in my mind. I decided that maybe after all I was not in the class of Joan of Arc but simply some one who could be nicer than I had been and who could begin to control a rather violent temper. This I started to do. I tried not to be so cross and to control my tongue and for some time became so objectionably good that my family got disturbed; they wondered if I was ill and almost begged me to resume my explosive displays. I was smug and sweet and sentimental.

As the years went by I found that at seven years intervals (until I was thirty-five) I had indications of the supervision and interest of this individual. Then in 1915 I discovered who He was and that other people know Him. From then on the relationship has become closer and closer until today I can, at will, contact Him. This willingness to be contacted on the part of a Master is only possible when a disciple is also willing never to avail himself of the opportunity except in moments of real emergency in world service.

I found that this visitor was the Master K. H., the Master Koot Hoomi, a Master Who is very close to the Christ, Who is on the teaching line and Who is an outstanding exponent of the love-wisdom of which the Christ is the full expression. The real value of this experience is not to be found in the fact that I, a young girl called Alice La Trobe-Bateman, had an interview with a Master but in the fact that knowing nothing whatsoever of Their existence, I met one of Them and that He talked with me. The value is to be found also in the fact that everything that He told me came true (after I had tried hard to meet requirements) and because I discovered that He was not the Master Jesus, as I had naturally supposed, but a Master of Whom I could not possibly have heard and one Who was totally unknown to me. Anyway, the Master K. H. is my Master, beloved and real. I have worked for Him ever since I was fifteen years old and I am now one of the senior disciples in His group, or-as it is called esoterically-in His Ashram.

JJ: Thus we see that the Masters she worked with were not a dream or from her subconscious, but individuals residing in physical bodies like ourselves, but with the subtle difference that they are hundreds of years old yet still perpetuate their youth.

I was asked for a definition of metaphysics. Simply put for my use it is physics of the mind. In other words, a scientific approach to thinking and philosophy as opposed to a feeling, often illogical, approach to truth as it exists in many religions. Unfortunately, many religious people believe that a logical approach to the spiritual is misleading or even evil, but as we have shown by the use of the word “faith” in the days of Jesus, that evidence is a key ingredient in the pursuit of truth.

My friends. The writings of Alice A. Bailey say some interesting things about correct use of authority. Below is one of the best quotes.

When the glamour of authority transfers itself into the spiritual consciousness of man, we have such a state of affairs as the period of the Inquisition in its worst forms, of Church authority, with the emphasis upon organisation, government and penalties, or the unquestioned rule of some teacher. In its highest forms we have the recognition of the right of the solar Angel, of the soul or ego, to rule. Between these two extremes, which express the infancy of the race and the freedom which comes when mankind achieves its majority and the freedom of the soul, lie all the many types and kinds of intermediate reactions. In illustration of our point, and thus emphasising the glamour aspect as it affects the disciple and the problem which he faces, what do we find? The disciple has freed himself somewhat from the imposed control of an orthodox teaching and from the rule of a teacher. He stands (as far as he can tell) free from such control. Knowing however his essential weakness and the lure of the personality, he is on guard against himself, and against the ancient rules of control and learns steadily to stand on his own feet, to come to his own decisions, to distinguish truth for himself. He learns to choose his way. But, like all persons who have not taken some of the higher initiations, he can (in due time) become enamoured of his freedom, and automatically then swing into the glamour of his ideal of freedom, an ideal which he has created. He becomes the prisoner of freedom. He rejects all rule except that which he calls the “rule of his own soul,” forgetting that his contact with his soul is still intermittent. He demands the right to stand alone. He revels in his new found freedom. He forgets that, having given up the authority of a teaching and of a teacher, he has to learn to accept the authority of the soul and of the group of souls with which he is affiliated through his karma, his ray type, his choice, and the inevitability of the effects of the at-one-ment. Having relinquished the guidance of another person upon the Path, and having his eyes partially opened, he now seeks to tread that Path to the goal, forgetting however that he treads the Path in unison with others, and that there are certain “Rules of the Road” which he must master, and which he must master in unison with others. He has exchanged the individual law for the group law, but does not yet know that group law as it should be known. He marches on as best he can alone, glorying in the freedom from authority which he has succeeded in achieving. He promises himself that he will brook no authority or guidance.

Those of us who are considering him and looking on at him from the clearer heights of attainment see him gradually becoming obscured by wisps of fog and by a glamour which is gradually growing up around him as he becomes a “prisoner of the fog of freedom” and revels in what he deems the fact of his independence. When his sight has cleared, and when his mental aspect is more developed and unfolded, he will know that the Law of the Group must, and will, impose itself upon him, and that the rule of the lower nature has only to be exchanged for the rule of the soul. This is group rule and works under the law of the group. He has struggled out of the mass of seekers of the Road on to the Road itself. He is, therefore, ahead of the masses but he is not alone, even if he thinks that he is. He will discover many others who are travelling the same way with him, and their numbers will steadily increase as he progresses. The rule of interplay, of travel, and of group recognition and work and service will impose themselves upon him until he finds that he is a member of the New Group of World Servers, working under the conditions which are the rules governing their activities. As he learns to travel with them upon the Road, their governing incentives and the techniques of their chosen service will penetrate his consciousness, and automatically and naturally he will begin to obey the higher rhythm and give his assent to the laws which control group life and group consciousness. Finally, he will find himself entering into the silent places where the Masters of the Wisdom dwell, and will work in group rhythm with Them, obeying thus the laws of the spiritual realm, which are the subjective laws of God.

Time and again, along the Road, he will revolt from control and will fall back into the glamour of his supposed freedom. There is freedom from the control of the personality. There is freedom from the control of personalities. But there is never any freedom from the Law of Service, and from the constant interplay between man and man, and soul and soul. To stand really free is to stand in the clear unimpeded light of the soul, which is basically and intrinsically group consciousness.
