Seeing Eye to Eye

Seeing Eye to Eye

A reader tells me that if something is correct for my soul that it is not necessarily correct for yours or anyone else’s.

This is a seemingly correct statement in the illusion of the personality world, but the world of souls is a world of union and oneness, and as the Course in Miracles says: “The truth is true and NOTHING else is true.”

Through the maze of illusions created by various interpretation of words, there is a point of truth that is true and “nothing else is true.”

Two plus two equals four and nothing else is true that can be demonstrated in this reality. To contradict this statement, you have to wander into poetic and mythful thinking which has no basis in this reality except for entertainment purposes.

The souls of all humans are one. Therefore, if my soul verifies a point of truth to you, the same point can be verified to me. Now I can tune into my astral/emotional body and get all kinds of misleading feelings and think that it is my soul, but if you tune into real soul consciousness and so do I at the same time, we will see “eye to eye.”

To say otherwise than what I say here is to not believe in the oneness of the higher lives. Do you think that in the world of solar angels that two cannot become one in the light of truth? I think it would be depressing to believe that truth cannot lead to unity.

The highest many people have reached is a degree of astral energy which they interpret to be soul contact. All fall into this illusion one time or another because we tend to think that our highest perception is the highest God, Soul, Solar Angel, Universal Spirit, Master, Higher Self or whatever. We are reluctant to think that someone else has made a higher contact than ourselves.

Contact with soul energy is available to all, but there are layers of darkness that must be penetrated to discover it.

When two people reach soul contact together there is always a knowing. They are still two individuals, but of one mind and both know the other is feeling the spiritual feelings.

It would be nice to reach that with my critics.

A reader says he does not agree with my teaching process. Fine. You are free to ignore me. Obviously you’re not doing so.

You ask me why I state that my teachings are from a higher source. Am I trying to seem more credible?

No.

I say it because it is true and to present the teachings as if I am solely responsible would be to take glory to myself that I do not deserve and would also be deceptive.

I am not a channel as is Jane Roberts and others where the person leaves consciousness. I work through the union of souls where there is full consciousness for all. That way two minds become one and there is a flashing forth bringing a knowledge of principles from the higher to the lower.

Tell me one thing you have learned without the help of another person as you seem to indicate that you do?

You ask the question: If knowledge only comes from above, then where did those above us get it?

I did not say that knowledge only comes from above. I said that if we learn from someone who knows, the learning is much faster than if we learn by trial and error.

All useful knowledge when first acquired for a system of humans is won by a teacher who earned it by trial and error, many mistakes, pain and loss of time. Take Edison and the light bulb. It took him over 10,000 trials to produce it. If we were to follow your reasoning we should all just look within and figure out how to make light bulbs. It might take you 100,000 tries to make a light bulb if you are determined to do it all by yourself.

I like my method better. Let’s just use the teachings of Edison and enjoy the light and save our great effort to forge into new territory. There’s not a lot of advantage to reinventing the wheel. It provides no service to humanity.

I pointed out that when a teacher has definite knowledge learning for the student is greatly accelerated. You disagreed with this saying: “What one considers definite another may consider fluid.”

I’m not talking about what one considers, but it turns out he’s deceived about it. I’m talking about definite knowledge like how to build a light bulb. Either you know how or you don’t. If you do know how to build it there is nothing fluid to it. You can look at the light shining in your eyes and deny that it exists, but that doesn’t mean the knowledge is fluid. It means you’re in a state of denial.

I’ll bet you can’t give me one example of knowledge that is fluid. You may give an example, but I can prove you wrong because you’re violating a principle here. “The truth is true and nothing else is true.”

If knowledge were truly fluid then none of us would have to think. All of us would be right all the time and we would descend to eternal entropy.

If I understand correctly how you define the path then I do not consider my methods of serving the only way to serve. Nevertheless, there are certain keys of knowledge that must be unlocked by the aspirant before he can return home, or obtain freedom of movement in the three worlds. For instance, you must achieve a certain level of understanding about who you are. If you are deceived into thinking you cannot rise above the level of a worm, for instance, you must raise your consciousness in order to progress.

These things seem like basic knowledge. It’s difficult for me to see how one can even disagree on these things. Oh well, let’s continue.

I’m sorry I’m not humble enough for you. Please feel free to continue to keep me in line.

You say: “I accuse you of being…arrogant in the knowledge you have such that you cannot recognize different knowledge as being valid.” Are you sure you are not mirroring yourself here?

What “different knowledge” do you speak of that I do not recognize as being valid?

I’m sure you will not be able to give me a specific answer on this one. If you cannot and are honest you must admit the charge is unjust.

If, however, you substitute “theory” for “knowledge” you may have a point.

You make an interesting statement: “Unless words contain the entire universe, they cannot express the entire universe.” You direct us to a great truth here. A single great Word created the entire universe. The single Word divided itself into many words. Since all things are created through the power of words then all things in this universe can be expressed in words.

Just because you cannot express yourself effectively in words is no reason to assume no one else can?

Some have difficulty in expressing “love,” “faith,” “fear” and other ideas in words. Others have figured out how to do it.

I still maintain that if you cannot put a piece of knowledge in words, then a full understanding is not realized. I am amazed anyone would disagree with this. It seems so basic.

If you do not understand love well enough to express it in words then why not be humble enough to say you do not understand rather than to say you know, but can’t explain? That sounds like the Christians talking about the unknowable God.

It is true that you are consciousness, you are “I AM.” Every New Age thinker knows this. Feel yourself without your vehicles/bodies. Describe something you know about that which remains.

Seven days without prayer makes one weak. —Allen E. Bartlett

A Course in Miracles and Heaven

A Course in Miracles and Heaven

If anyone is thought to be fully in heaven then Jesus would be at the top of the list, but we are told this:

“Because my feet are on the ground and my hands are in Heaven, I can bring down the glories of Heaven to my brothers on earth.” UR T 1 B 40ab

Unlike the Father, who does not have feet on the ground here, Jesus does. And why is this?

Because “We cannot sing redemption’s hymn alone. My task is not completed until I have lifted every voice with mine.” T-13.VII.17

The Course explains why Jesus is motivated to bring heaven to all:

“The Sonship in its Oneness transcends the sum of its parts. However, this is obscured as long as any of its parts is missing. That is why the conflict cannot ultimately be resolved until all the parts of the sonship have returned. Only then can the meaning of wholeness in the true sense be understood.” T-2.VII.6

So, even though Jesus has his hands in heaven and enjoys a bliss only dreamed of by most, none of us including him, can understand the meaning of wholeness when parts of the Sonship are missing for “At God’s altar Christ waits for the restoration of Himself in you.” T-11.IV.7

Then there is this: “the reawakening of every Son of God is necessary to enable the Sonship to know its Wholeness.” T-6.I.12

The Course indicates that Jesus has passed the gates of heaven, but even he cannot enjoy a fullness until all have awakened

Think you when this has been achieved that you will rest without them (your brothers who sleep)? You could no more leave one of them outside than I could leave you, and forget part of myself.  T-20.IV.7

Souls cannot rest until everyone has found salvation.”  UR T 1 B 24a. 24

In other words, heaven is not fully heaven unless the whole family is awakened and present.

In the meantime, we can enjoy many heavenly experiences as we journey home and take our brothers and sisters with us.

Confusion Over Heaven

The Course is confusing to many on its teachings about this world and heaven.

On one hand it says “There is no need for help to enter Heaven for you have never left.” C-5.1

Then on the other hand the Course tells us that “heaven waits” for our return.

“His Son removed himself from His gift by refusing to accept what had been created for him, and what he had created in the Name of his Father. Heaven waits for his return, for it was created as the dwelling place of God’s Son.” T-10.V.11

Jesus even makes this plea: “Return with me to Heaven, walking together with your brother out of this world.” T-18.I.12

For every indication that we are in heaven now, or never left, there are a dozen dealing with the idea that we have had a separation and are experiencing an insane nightmare from which we need to awaken and escape. In fact, the Course gives us 365 lessons to help us awaken to the heavenly state.

So what is the real truth of the matter?

The problem is that when there is an apparent contradiction the natural tendency is to take sides. One side has to be right and the other wrong. And when one observes the discussion on this and other issues this is indeed what happens.

But there is another path mentioned by Jesus which is often called the straight and narrow:

“Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” Matt 7:14

He says something similar in several places in the Course:

“All are called but few choose to listen.” T-3.IV.7

“Only very few can hear God’s Voice at all, and even they cannot communicate His messages directly through the Spirit which gave them.” M-12.3

The question is then what is the difference between the few and the many?  The many are caught up in the black and white world of duality whereas the few look at what the Course calls the “content” of what is taught. When looking at the content no side has to be taken for a student can see truth in both sides.

When you go to bed and dream are you said to have left your home?

No.

“You travel but in dreams, while safe at home.” T-13.VII.17

In this sense then we have not left our heavenly home for the real part of ourselves remains in heaven.

When we dream at night where are we? Technically we are in our bed in the world, but consciously we are off in dreamland.

If one says he is in the bedroom that would be correct, but it would also be correct to say that he is in the dream and needs to awaken to function again in the world.

Similarly, the Course is correct in saying we never left heaven because the real part of ourselves is still there, but it is also correct in saying we are in a dream and need to awaken.

If we see the content and context of both statements, we find there is nothing to argue about.

The Journey to Heaven

The Journey to Heaven

There are a number of popular phrases in A Course in Miracles that are subject to more than one interpretation. The problem is that an error in interpretation can cause a delay in the student reaching the goal of awakening as set by the course, as it presents correct perception as essential. A popular phrase often quoted is “I need do nothing.”

This phrase is very seductive for what could be easier to do than nothing? Let us just relax, do nothing, be saved and awaken to heaven. Some may even believe that because they are doing nothing now, that they are awake and in heaven at this moment, even though we see them as still being here in the dream with us.

What does ACIM mean when it speaks of doing nothing?

One holding on to the path of least resistance may think it means: “Continue on as you are. You do not need to do anything different.”

When you think about it the phrase cannot mean that.

Why?

Because none of us who are still in the dream are doing nothing. Instead of doing nothing, we are doing many things that keep us in the illusion such as:

[1] Seeing yourself as in a body.

[2] using the senses of the body to perceive.

[3] We see the past and plan the future

[4] We listen to thoughts of the ego instead of the Holy Spirit

[5] We pay a lot of attention to ensure the body gets proper care.

[6] We establish special relationships

The list could go on indefinitely for most of us are a long way from doing nothing.

A phrase with similar meaning is, “Be still and know that I am God.” T-4.in.2 This is found in the Course and the Bible and quoted by many practitioners of meditation.  They tell us that the act of being still in body, emotion and thought is quite difficult and takes a lot of focus. In other words, doing nothing takes some serious mind training.

Where have students heard that phrase before? Oh, yes, here it is.

“This is a course in mind training.” T-1.VII.4

Indeed, the mind has to be trained and focused to do nothing, for the average person has a myriad of thoughts, feelings and perceptions calling for attention. Here we are told the benefit of doing nothing:

“Who needs do nothing has no need for time. To do nothing is to rest, and make a place within you where the activity of the body ceases to demand attention.  Into this place the Holy Spirit comes, and there abides.” T-18.VII.7

The great benefit then is the reception of the guidance from the Holy Spirit. When this presence is felt, the seeker can yield to Its instruction and let go of the stress involving the decision making of the ego.

“I am not alone, and I would not intrude the past upon my Guest.

I have invited Him, and He is here.

I need do nothing except not to interfere.” T-16.I.3

It is actually quite difficult to be still and do nothing, but the reward is great and it takes us a great step forward to awakening.

You would think that people would know whether or not they are in heaven, yet the answer is not so simple for ACIM students. Some believe they are experiencing a dream, as taught by the Course, and must awaken to full awareness of heaven, while others believe they are fully in heaven right now and there is nothing further we need to do to enter the pearly gates.

Here is the core passage that creates the problem:

“Heaven is here. There is nowhere else. Heaven is now. There is no other time.” M-24.5

Notice that it does not say that you are in heaven now, but “Heaven is now.”

There is only one time in heaven which is the present and to enter, that is where our consciousness must be.  In that same paragraph it states: “it is at this moment that complete salvation is offered you, and it is at this moment that you can accept it. This is still your one responsibility. Atonement might be equated with total escape from the past and total lack of interest in the future.”

This clearly tells us that before we can enter heaven we must achieve a “total escape from the past and be totally in the present.

Notice the word “total.” I personally do not know anyone who has come close to doing this, for to even communicate with words you have to use your memory of the past.

Certain soundbites from the Course make it sound like returning to heaven is as easy as falling off a log, and we humans are attracted to things that are easy. Of Course, it is important to emphasize that we can take the necessary steps, and the steps are easy once embraced, but getting the students to embrace the steps is indeed difficult.

The easy and the hard part are noted here:

“Nothing is so easy to recognize as truth. This is the recognition that is immediate, clear and natural. You have trained yourself not to recognize it, and this has been very difficult for you.” T-7.XI.5

When we are completely open and in tune with the Holy Spirit recognizing truth is very easy, but we have trained ourselves “not to recognize it.”  The process of unlearning is the difficult part.

Chapter six gives us four major steps to make that happen and the workbook gives us 365 lessons.

ACIM takes a half million words to just get us headed in the right direction. It does therefore seem that reaching the goal involves much more than merely declaring you are not here, but in heaven.

Consider this quote:

“Just as the separation occurred over millions of years, the Last Judgment will extend over a similarly long period, and perhaps an even longer one.” T-2.VIII.2

It took us millions of years to make the illusion we are currently in and we are told it may take even longer to end it.

Obviously, a problem that requires millions of years to solve involves much more than making some declaration of belief.

There are two things given us to speed up the process of return. The first was the creation of the Holy Spirit. This was crucial for “Without this link with God, perception would have replaced knowledge forever in your mind.” W-pI.43.1

So without this assistance we would have been stuck here forever.

The second is the presentation of A Course in Miracles. This is said to be a part of a “celestial speedup” to cut down on the time needed for the Sons of God to return.

It is the tendency of us humans to want a quick and easy salvation. Manny fundamentalists say we just need to accept Jesus as Lord and that will do it. Others say we just need to accept a certain guru or doctrine and eternal salvation is ours. Many Course students have embraced a quick salvation idea since we are told the kingdom of God is within.

By reflecting within and following the Course many have had spiritual  experiences, but such experiences do not mean that the journey is over. Instead, spiritual experiences are just signs that the journey is underway.

While in the dream we are told that we still have a part of heaven within us. It says that “This is the little part you think you stole from Heaven. Give it back to Heaven.  Heaven has not lost it, but you have lost sight of Heaven.” T-18.IX.1

If within us “is the tiny part of yourself, the little thought that seems split off and separate.”  T-18.IX.1 then just imagine what a fullness would be like when we the separation ends and the “Father will lean down to you and take the last step for you, by raising you unto Himself.” T-11.VIII.15

When that happens that which is beyond words will be realized.

Finding Ourselves

Finding Ourselves

All life forms including masters can have negative feelings. They just know how to work through them so the end is positive.

We have descended into this world as part of a great experiment and experience. In the end all things will work together for our good as long as we do not cut ourselves completely off from our souls.

The teachings of the Masters swing like a pendulum, pulling man the opposite direction from where he is wrongfully headed. This has the effect of helping many, but confusing some, but as Spock says: “The good of the many outweighs the needs of the few.”

The churches are a part of the Beast (666) that enslaves man.

A reader says he is impressed by the statement “the Word is God…” There is a great revelation to be had there, but other steps must come first.

Think about “Who and/or What Are You?” What makes you different from the lesser lives. You are not your body. Most New Agers know that.

But you are also not your emotions and feelings. You are also not your mind. Detach yourself from your body, emotions, and mind; and answer: “Who and/or What Are You?”

The answer is not consciousness, even though you have consciousness. What kind of consciousness?

Many are familiar with A Course in Miracles. This speaks of the Ego. If the Ego disappears — what is left?

Is it consciousness?

A Son of God?

These answers are true but incomplete.

A Course in Miracles tells us that it is madness that took us here to align with the ego. That was written for an effect on the masses to get them to think. From a higher point of view it was not madness but part of the evolution of the life of God. In reality you were driven here by a principle which is behind human consciousness. Without this principle you do not exist. Without a knowledge of it spiritual progression is difficult. With a knowledge of who you are you can take the necessary steps to freedom in the three worlds of form.

“When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” You have probably heard this before. It is an ancient statement.

What you are ready for is what you draw to you.

A reader mentioned EKANKAR which I consider to be a corrupt method of teaching the way home. The shortcut they talk about would be a disaster for the soul.

Another mentioned The Plain Truth Magazine which I  would say is a kindergarten teacher for the general religious seekers. They are very wrong on the idea that we sleep in unconsciousness when we die.

The next step is to look within for your strength and sense not only your soul or higher self, but tune into the group energy with which your soul is connected. When you do this you will sense the presence of many loving entities surrounding you, possibly myself included. When you feel this presence the feeling of restlessness will disappear.

All your problems will not be solved, but a major one will be.

Sensing the presence is the most important thing right now, but if you have any thoughts on “Who and/or What Are You?” share them with me when you are ready.

You are only ready for true progression when you make up your mind to do whatever is necessary and it will often involve some strenuous effort. Never fear the great effort that awaits you.

Have you thought about who you are if your feelings and your mind were to disappear? What is the principle left that makes you unique from everyone else?

The principle that creates time is form created from wavelengths. Without form there is no time. Therefore a life that has no form, but only uses form is without beginning and end. Such a life creates time, space, and form.

There is a part of you that is endless. We must find that part to know “Who and/or What We Are.”

“Who do you think you are?” is one of the most powerful mantras of the Dark Brotherhood.

There are some appropriate uses of this phrase, but it’s usually used against the innovators of the world.

A reader wanted me to comment on V’ger from Star Trek [the movie]. It is true he became a threat to his creator. But think about the reason. It was because he developed mental facilities when he was out of touch with his creator and he was separated from his true hierarchy. When this happens to humans we too have uneven and perhaps dangerous development.

First we must develop the physical and the instincts, and then the emotional — after this the mental, and finally the spiritual. The lower arenas must be developed before the higher can be safely pursued.

The “Son of Sam” is a good example. He thought he heard the voice of God (misguided spiritual sense) before he was close to being emotionally mature. The seeker must look beyond the personality.

I was conversing with a guy who had belonged to a church that believes we sleep at death until the resurrection and then, after the resurrection, if God is displeased, we are annihilated.

The poor fellow may still have some subconscious fears of going to hell or being annihilated. Perhaps it would be helpful if I explain a fearful scripture they use:

“For the living know that they shall die; but the dead know not anything, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten….” (Eccl. 9:5 Also read verse 6)

To understand what Solomon is saying here you must go to the beginning of the book where he says: “Vanity of vanities…all is vanity.”

The writer spends most of the time in the book elaborating on the vain and stupid things that man says. One of them is “the dead know not anything, neither have they any more a reward.”

Then in the last two chapters he starts teaching the truth of the way things are: He speaks of the silver cord, the golden bowl (the etheric body) and the spirit going home to God who gave it. (Eccl 12:6-7).

To sense your spiritual friends who are in your group you must obtain communion with your higher self because all the true spiritual guides and masters only communicate through your soul via your Higher Self.

There are clouds of darkness between you and your soul. You remove them by always following the highest you know.

It will help you to answer the question WHO/WHAT ARE YOU?

Here are some highlights of my comments to a reader who accused me of being a false or misled teacher.

It sounds like half your brain thinks I am a “Master” (your choice of wording, not mine) and the other half thinks I am some type of antichrist or at best a Jim Jones.

Where do you get the idea that I am judging someone else’s right place in the universe? People find their own place. Seeking to help and teach others is in no way “judging” their place.

You criticize me for making judgments and then you turn and make judgments about me. That wouldn’t be so bad if your judgments were correct or had some foundation to them, but some are totally mislead.

He accuses me of having no feelings or emotions. You have no basis to make such an unjust judgment. I am in very close touch with all my emotions and do not suppress or deny them. I have authority to say this because I know me much, much better than you know me.

Some of your choice of words bothers me. You address me as “Guruji Joseph,” a title I resent. You call me “Master” when you think I have not mastered. You suggest I seek to “enforce” my will upon others. You say I “scoff” at Masters, and I need to “stoop” to study a book you recommend.

It sounds to me that you need to read Ceanne DeRohan’s books again. Especially her first one. You seem to have some bitterness in you that is in a state of denial. Find these feelings within you instead of reflecting them in me. Then maybe they can be expressed in a positive way.

You say: “What if I say that my Understanding is greater than yours? What emotional reaction does that provoke?”

I think it would be great if your understanding is greater than mine. I am always thrilled to learn new things. One with greater understanding does not pose a threat to me. Why don’t you share something with me that I don’t understand? I would be particularly impressed if you shared a new principle with me rather than memorized data.

A lot of what you say is true. There are many suppressed and denied feelings that need to be worked out with humanity. Those who do suppress can be deciphered through handwriting analysis with great accuracy. I am one of the few teachers that will agitate others enough to bring out some of these feelings. You seem to think this is bad. I think your teacher, Ceanne, would recommend it.

I will be making comments that will enlighten you on my thoughts on other comments you have made that I haven’t had time to cover; but please understand, my motive isn’t just to make myself look good. (Who wants to look bad?) My prime motive is to serve. In this coming age of Aquarius, I, an Aquarian, seek to pour out the water of knowledge to a thirsty world.

My way of teaching is NOT to take power from others, but to empower without consideration to my own power. “He who is greatest in the kingdom of heaven is the greatest servant.” This statement of Jesus is a great inspiration.

“Never confuse movement with action.” — Ernest Hemingway (1899 – 1961)
