Reincarnation Challenge

Reincarnation Challenge

A reader made a post referencing an article by Ernest Valea refuting the idea that John the Baptist was a reincarnation of Elijah. The Biblical evidence is quite overwhelming so disproving it is a difficult task. First let me give a couple scriptures that positively identify John the Baptist as Elijah come again.

The disciples were curious about the prophesy of Elijah coming again so they asked the Lord:

“Why then do our teachers say that Elijah must come first? He replied, Yes Elijah WILL COME and set everything right. But I tell you that ELIJAH HAS ALREADY COME, and they failed to recognize him, and worked their will upon him; and in the same way the Son of Man is to suffer at their hands. Then the disciples understood that HE MEANT JOHN THE BAPTIST.” (Matthew 17:10-13 – New English)

Here is a second powerful statement from Jesus about John:

“…Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John…A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. For this is he of whom it is written, Behold I send my messenger before my face, which shall prepare thy way before thee (This is a quote from Malachi near the prophesy of Elijah) Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven (Christ) is greater than he…For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. And if ye will receive it, THIS IS ELIJAH, which was for to come.”  (Matthew 11:7, 9-11, 13-14)

The Concordant version says it most accurately:   “And if you are willing to receive HIM, HE IS ELIJAH…”

Now Mr. Valea tries to refute this idea with this scripture from, Luke:

“And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”  (Luke 1:17)

Then he says:

“First we must be aware that the Jews viewed ‘spirit’ and ‘soul’ as quite different things. The human person has a soul which will live on after physical death. The spirit is a kind of driving force, a motivation that makes people behave in one way or another.”

It is possible there is some Jewish teaching of this nature but this proves nothing. The words “spirit” and “soul” in the Bible are often mistranslated so one has to look up the original Greek or Hebrew word to discover what the author really meant.

The word “spirit” from Luke 1:17 comes from the Greek PNEUMA and it does not refer to personality or driving force as Mr. Valea suggests. For proof we just have to look at actual samples of the scriptures where the word was used.

“Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits (PNEUMA) are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.”  (Luke 10:20)

“And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit (PNEUMA)” (Luke 23:46)

“When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. (PNEUMA)”  (John 19:30)

“And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit (PNEUMA).”  (Acts 7:59)

It is obvious that when the Greek PNEUMA is used it is not referring to something ephemeral such as drive or personality, but the actual spirit that lives on.

Now taking this into account we can see a totally different meaning to Luke 1:17 than did Mr. Valea. Let us look at it again:

“And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah…”

Note the word “power” comes from DYNAMIS which means “ability” as well as “strength.”  “Spirit” comes from PNEUMA which is the eternal spirit that lives on. As it turns out this scripture does not refute reincarnation, but proves it. What is it really saying?

It is saying that John will go forth with the same spirit that Elijah had with the same powers and ability because he is Elijah come again. If he has the actual spirit of Elijah then he must be Elijah.

The Number of Souls, Etc.

Question: How do you harmonize the doctrine of reincarnation with the great increase in population over the past thousand years or so?

There are 60 billion human monads allotted for the earth at this time so the pool of souls is far from being depleted.

Only about 10 percent of the human spirits are here at the present time (2007). Overall, man has been on this earth for 18 million years which is not only much longer than the religions think, but longer than the scientists believe. Science keeps going further back. They have now found humans 4 million years back.

If the average human has experienced 500 lives that means he could have had an average span of 3600 years between lives over the past 18 million years. There has been plenty of time for all to experience lots of lives. In addition to this we have an eternity in front of us. Then too, some have experienced additional lives on other planets and systems.

Then if we ever have a shortage of entities to incarnate the soul can project more than one personality at a time if needed.

Question: “Do you believe the bible to be INFALLIBLE WORD OF GOD?”

JJ: All words of every book are infallible if revealed in the light of the soul. Without this assistance none of them are infallible.

Question: “Do you believe you should not add or remove from the word of God?”

JJ: Sounds like you are referring to the injunction given by Moses as follows:

“Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.”  (Deuteronomy 4:2)

“What thing so ever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.”  (Deuteronomy 12:32)

Obviously, he meant to not add to or take away from what he wrote and then pass it on as if they were the words of Moses. Yes, I am strongly against doing this to any writer.

I also explain a similar injunction in Revelation in my book The Unveiling.

Question: “What hope are you reserving for those that follow your teachings?

JJ: I offer them the hope that they can contact their own souls, which are linked to God and can lead them to the truth of all things. Then they can know the truth for themselves and will not depend on me or any other outside source. This also dispels the fear of an unloving God willing to smite us for petty insignificant things.

Comment: “I am asking this because it will be terrible if people believe that you are telling them the truth and at the end it was not AUTHORITATIVE.”

JJ: The tragedy would be if I were authoritative. Such authority (however well intentioned) only causes a delay in the disciple finding the true God within so they can achieve liberation.

Question: Are you starting a new religion and where do you get your authority?

JJ: The soul of any man is an authority greater than any written word.

No. I am not starting a new religion. The dogmatic religions of the past will fade away and lose their power and be replaced by a universal religion. This will not be a religion envisioned by conspiracy buffs where a great dictator is telling everyone what to believe, but a universal recognition of truth that is eventually seen first by the enlightened and then the masses.

One place in history where this evolution took place is the idea of slavery. First the enlightened saw it was wrong and now the masses see it. Almost all religious thinkers now accept the freedom of the individual, even if it goes again their religious books, such as the Old Testament.

Question: “Don’t you think people that follow you are those who are looking for excuses to live anyhow in sin and hope that they have no punishment waiting for them?”

JJ: To live in sin means to live in error. I do not think anyone here wants to do that. The Bible says we reap that which we sow so no one here should fear a great punishment unless they have caused great pain to someone.

Question: “Do you go to church, mosque or do you have your own temple? Where do you encourage your members to go?”

JJ: Do I want to punish myself with extreme boredom?

No.

Therefore, I attend no religious service. If there were somewhere I could learn something I would consider going.

Your place in the next world has nothing to do with attending a service in a stone building.

I neither encourage nor discourage anyone from attending whatever it is they want to attend. If someone wants to go howl at the moon that is fine by me as long as they stay out of my back yard.

A moment’s insight is sometimes worth a lifetime’s experience. Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. (1841 – 1935)

The Big Question

The Big Question

It seems that many spiritual experiences follow something very painful in life. Is such pain necessary or can we achieve a painless enlightenment?

Do painful experiences distort reality and can we trust revelations that come from them?

The core principle to look at in answering this is the point of tension. A painful experience often stimulates the point of tension, but the tension can be created without pain.

The answer to the following questions will bring enlightenment on this subject. Here they are:

Why are we designed to die after 75 years or so? Why not 200 years?

What’s the difference in mindset between a master who has power to extend his life and a regular mortal who does not?

The answers I received from the group have two words worthy of contemplation which are “flexibility” and ‘crystallization.”

Here are some more words worthy of contemplation:

“You must be born again to see the kingdom of God” or we could say:

You must be born again to become a master.

What principle is hinted at here? What does it have to do with extending your life indefinitely?

The group has talked around the principle but not yet distilled it into a paragraph that appropriately conveys it.

Fill in the blanks:

The Master has power of rejuvenation and life extension because he understands the reason the average person must die. That reason is _______. He thus seeks to become born again. He nullifies the cause of death by utilizing the power of rebirth. He does this by tuning into the Will of God and _______. After this he then must do one more thing. What is it?

Let us start with the first part of the assignment: Fill in the blanks:

The Master has power of rejuvenation and life extension because he understands the reason the average person must die. That reason is _______.

Now there were several reasons given related to the causes of aging such as entropy, etheric or cell deterioration. Yes, there are a number of reasons we age and working with them can increase health and give some life extension, but will not lead to rejuvenation through a spiritual endowment. To achieve this, first the principle must be understood as to why we die, even if one is a health and fitness nut.

There were several answers circling around the principle. I may miss a few but a reader came very close with:

“That reason is _life in the body has become limited in its current form and circumstance and reaches a dead-end in its progression.”

Another used a key word related to the principle, which is “crystallization.”

Yes, we reach a dead end and crystallize, but why does this happen? Why does it occur to the extent that the soul ends the life of the pilgrim as an act of mercy?

Let us get this clear and we will move on to the rest of the paragraph.

The quote below contains a hint for the second blank.

Every composer knows the anguish and despair occasioned by forgetting ideas which one had no time to write down. Hector Berlioz (1803 – 1869)

We’ll finish off this first section in as concise a manner as possible.

The Master has power of rejuvenation and life extension because he understands the reason the average person must die. That reason is he yields to the path of least resistance, becomes subject to inertia, crystallizes and no longer advances on the path of spiritual evolution.

Now let us move to the next stanza:

He thus seeks to become born again. He nullifies the cause of death by utilizing the power of rebirth. He does this by tuning into the Will of God and _______.

In relation to this I gave a hint in the quotation below:

“Every composer knows the anguish and despair occasioned by forgetting ideas which one had no time to write down.” Hector Berlioz (1803 – 1869)

Tuning into the Will of God is an important first step. But what is the disciple to do after he obtains the vision? It is what he must do before he attempts to fulfill that Will. No one has given a complete answer on this in their own words. Contemplate the answer and soon we can move on to the last stanza which reads:

“After this he then must do one more thing. What is it?”

When the answer involves a piece of data then the answer is just the answer and it is black and white, cut and dried. But when it involves a principle then the answer is not always the answer. The teacher can attempt to put the principle in words and the student may see some meaning in it but not all the meaning or applications. Then he may find that after contemplation more light comes. This additional light concerning the principle may continue for lifetimes.

Concerning the current subject of rejuvenation all who pay attention will receive some valuable insights as we progress. I doubt if anyone is ready to apply the principle to completion but this doesn’t mean that members are acquiring useless information. Even if the student catches the smallest glimpse of a principle, he may not fully comprehend for a million years, the insight will still be invaluable in the present. In addition to having useful application in the Now, just the feeling that progress is being made stimulates more progress and thus the disciple is motivated to move ahead along the great path.

Now let us move on to the assignment:

He thus seeks to become born again. He nullifies the cause of death by utilizing the power of rebirth. He does this by tuning into the Will of God and _______.

The answers given have generally been along the lines that he becomes one with the Will, fulfills the Will, is enlivened by the Will, etc. These are all true insights, but the group is missing a step.

The disciple tunes into the Will of God, but before he can do anything about manifesting or becoming one with it something must happen first. What is it? What must the disciple do when he catches a glimpse of the divine will?

Hint:   If he does not successfully accomplish this step all his efforts may be in vain and he may wind up doing more harm than good.

He thus seeks to become born again. He nullifies the cause of death by utilizing the power of rebirth. He does this by tuning into the Will of God and _______.

Again good insights and truths were perceived and given, but no one has clearly identified the next step that fills in the blank.

Let us try again:

Big Hint: The higher one goes in consciousness the more difficult it is to bring that which is received down to regular physical brain consciousness. One cannot work toward fulfilling higher will unless he can actually articulate that higher will.

What must the disciple do after he glimpses the higher will before he can articulate it and follow its path to fulfillment?

I feel a little like a grinch in saying that the answer to the next stanza has not yet been articulated with understanding. On the positive side the group has taken a step in the right direction.

One has to tune into the Will of God to even get a glimpse. Secondly, none of us sees a fullness of the Will. DK tells us that even the Masters and the Ancient of Days only sees a portion of the Will in relation to the wholeness of it.

When I received a number of my important teachings I received a mere glimpse of higher will and thought.

Many false prophets think ‘they found it’ and have all the mysteries of godliness summed up in a few words, but in reality, it is not likely they have had a glimpse of anything except the desire of their own egos.

Comment: “I don’t understand what you mean by ‘regular physical brain consciousness’.”

I use this in the same way that DK does. The higher parts of ourselves are always in contact with the world of divine ideas and in addition there are many potential impressions that have not been registered in the physical brain of the seeker.

An impression or idea may descend as low as the dream world and still not register in physical brain consciousness when he awakes. To register in physical brain consciousness means that he has power to reflect accurately on the concept while he is awake.

When we die and are no longer connected to the physical or etheric brain our consciousness is altered. This especially affects our sense of time. We then center in astral or mental consciousness and lose most of our memory by the time we are physically born again.

Let us get back to the Stanza:

He thus seeks to become born again. He nullifies the cause of death by utilizing the power of rebirth. He does this by tuning into the Will of God and _______.

One commented that dreams and ideas evaporate from consciousness unless we pay attention or write them down.

Hint: And what happens if you do not focus on it? Will it be written down accurately? What is the true next step that takes place before he even writes it down?

I think we’ll finish up on this stanza for it seems we have taken it as far as is practical with the group. With each step the group has gotten closer and many of you have received and given out light not directly related to the answer, but still good information. Several of you have written around the mystery to the extent that you almost expressed the answer.

THE ANSWER:

There is an important step the disciple must take between tuning into the Will, getting a glimpse of it, and then attempting to implement the will. When he perceives the Will, he does so almost entirely though his subtle bodies with very little recognition through his regular physical brain consciousness. After the Will is perceived, because the recognition is so slight in his brain consciousness, he is likely to dismiss it as merely his wandering imagination. Eventually the disciple learns to recognize the frequency of the Will and realizes that it is not his imagination, but also realizes his glimpse that was brought down to physical reality was very ephemeral and if he does not properly digest it then it may be as if the Will was never perceived or at best brought down with corruption.

What is he to do right after the Will is perceived?

It has been suggested he write it down. That would be fine to do when it is formulated in his mind, but if he attempts to write it down as he perceives it the process may prove to be a distraction that could corrupt the whole thing.

Often when a flash into the higher worlds comes the seeker does not have much time to process it before the wholeness of it flees from that magical place between spirit and matter. When it comes, he must immediately place all his attention of the moment on anchoring it in his waking consciousness. Instead of just receiving, being passive and enjoying the flow he must take action and stamp the moment upon his body, mind and soul so he can return to the moment at will and accurately retrieve the Will.

This is what many disciples fail to do, hence a great number wind up with distorted visions that lead them and their followers off the edge of an ideological cliff.

If the vision has been properly imprinted then the disciple can return in consciousness as desired and with accuracy see the Will again. This is the time to write down any process or thoughts that are necessary in communicating it to others.

That said let me complete the stanza:

He thus seeks to become born again. He nullifies the cause of death by utilizing the power of rebirth. He does this by tuning into the Will of God and correctly imprinting it upon his mind so his consciousness can return to it as desired, thereby giving him power to express it without corruption.

Now to the last part of the mystery.

After this he then must do one more thing. What is it?

Additional question:   Why is it that this process leads to rejuvenation?

Somebody has to do something, and it’s just incredibly pathetic that it has to be us. Jerry Garcia, (of The Grateful Dead)

Signs of an Avatar

Signs of an Avatar

A reader gave me a bad time for teaching that the real prophets do not announce themselves as a great one, but by their words and works attract attention and then people begin to recognize them. He didn’t seem to think that Moses fit the description here and that announcing his greatness would be no problem. The following are the highlights of my response.

If you want to diminish the role of any prophet you can always say that God did the whole thing through him. This has nothing to do with any point I have made. Some of the prophets, including Moses were great men in their own right and there is nothing wrong with acknowledging that. Of course, we want to give glory to God. That is a given and is not a point of argument.

I didn’t say the people were convinced the first time or two Moses went before Pharaoh. I said: “They had evidence of who he was when they saw him boldly go before the presence of the Pharaoh time and time again.”

After the Red Sea was turned to blood, the plagues of locusts, frogs, hail, boils and finally the death of the firstborn the people definitely were confronted with tremendous evidence and saw him much differently than at first.

Why do you think they followed him out of Egypt? It was because of the signs and wonders. They wouldn’t have believed strongly enough to leave if it was not for the great works God did through Moses.

He had a strong enough reputation without proclaiming himself as the deliverer to cause all Israel to gather and follow him. Who among us today could gather an entire people out of a nation? When they reached a dead end, sure they were afraid. It did not occur to the common people that the Red Sea would part for them at the word of Moses (by the power of God of course).

The people as a whole saw the great works that God did through Moses. None could deny the pillar of fire or the parting of the Red Sea, but this did not make them obedient. How many accept Jesus but do not do what he says? That does not mean that Jesus is not seen as the Messiah by them.

Unlike all the One Mighty and Strong Ones surfacing today, the witnesses he gave of The Lord was followed by great works that bore witness to the fact that he made real contact.

The point stands that if we want to look at how God is going to do his work in the future we need to examine how he did it in the past. Circumstances change and correspondences will not be exact, but there will be similarities.

If a true servant is going to come forth in the near future, we can expect his works and words to manifest in a similar manner to those of the past. Sure, Moses was doubted by his people but it didn’t take long after he announced that God was working through him that great works followed. I know there are dozens of would be Messiahs out there wandering for years in the wilderness of society with a dozen followers or less. These will cite scriptures showing the coming servant will be rejected – but no figure with an important work as Moses of Jesus will be that rejected. A number of pure in heart will always see the truth and when the work is truly manifest the world will align itself for or against.

Reader:“MY ARGUMENT, AGAIN, IS NOT WITH HOW REAL THE ACTUAL OMS WILL BE. BUT HOW YOU MISREPRESENT MOSES AS AN EXAMPLE OF HOW TO FIND THE REAL OMS, WHICH WAS THE TOPIC OF YOUR ORIGINAL POST.”

JJ: It sounds like I must have pressed some type of emotional button with you for your normal friendly attitude is replaced by quite accusatory and somewhat distorted attack here. On top of this you write in caps which are interpreted as shouting on the forums.

Your main point of disagreement is not my main point that history repeats itself (with subtle differences) but that I misrepresent Moses. I do not think you have made your point on that at all.

I quoted the Book of Mormon as follows:

“And he shall be great like unto Moses, whom I have said I would raise up unto you, to deliver my people, O house of Israel. And Moses will I raise up, to deliver thy people out of the land of Egypt.”

“Yea, thus prophesied Joseph: I am sure of this thing, even as I am sure of the promise of Moses; for the Lord hath said unto me, I will preserve thy seed forever.” 2 Nephi 3:9-10, 16

To this you say: “SO YOU ARE SAYING THE JEWS IN EGYPT WERE READING THE BOOK OF MORMON?”

No, I did not say this. Please do not put words in my mouth. Nephi was quoting from the writings of Joseph. And where was Joseph when he wrote these things?

In Egypt.

And who did he write them for?

The tribes of Israel?

And who had access to them in that age?

Obviously most or all of Israel. Nephi only had access to them because he obviously brought them over to the New World from Jerusalem.

Do you think he brought the only copy?

Obviously not – neither did he bring the only copy of Isaiah.

Have many manuscripts from ancient days been lost to history? Yes, this particular writing would have been lost, except for its salvaging through the Book of Mormon.

I quoted this scripture:

“And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.”  (Genesis 50:24)

You say that this gives no indication of a deliverer such as Moses but unless the Israelites thought that God was going to come down in person and say “follow Me” he would have had to use a human deliverer. Obviously, the people would expect a man like Moses after reading this. In addition to this the lost writings of Joseph which were in existence at that time makes this fact irrefutably clear.

You also state that the Pharaoh did not know of the prediction of Moses. Josephus who has access to many ancient manuscripts disagrees:

“While the affairs of the Hebrews were in this condition, there was this occasion offered itself to the Egyptians, which made them more solicitous for the extinction of our nation. One of those sacred scribes, who are very sagacious in foretelling future events truly, told the king, that about this time there would a child be born to the Israelites, who, if he were reared, would bring the Egyptian dominion low, and would raise the Israelites; that he would excel all men in virtue, and obtain a glory that would be remembered through all ages. Which thing was so feared by the king, that, according to this man’s opinion, he commanded that they should cast every male child, which was born to the Israelites, into the river, and destroy it; that besides this, the Egyptian midwives should watch the labors of the Hebrew women, and observe what is born, for those were the women who were enjoined to do the office of midwives to them; and by reason of their relation to the king, would not transgress his commands. He enjoined also, that if any parents should disobey him, and venture to save their male children alive, they and their families should be destroyed.” Josephus, Book 2, Chapter 9, Sect 2)

Obviously, the Hebrews knew of this prophesy as well as the one of Joseph since it was the main reason their children were being killed.

To think that they had no predictions of Moses and there were no prophets at that time giving hope by predicting a deliverer requires a quantum leap of faith in the negative direction. I don’t see your reasoning here neither do I see why this is such an important point to you as it has little to do with my main point.

Let me repeat my original premise which is this.

If we want clues as to how God will work with prophets in the future, we can get them by looking into the past. My main point was that when Moses, Jesus and Joseph began their work in the name of the Lord, they did not begin by saying “I am a mighty and strong one – follow me.”  Instead of telling people they were mighty and strong they actually gave great works and words to the people. So far every “One Mighty and Strong” (OMS) that I have encountered has been powerless except for physical authority over a handful of followers and with no prospect of doing a work like that of Moses, Joseph or Jesus.

So, looking at the past what should we expect from a OMS in the present?

If he announces himself as a deliverer in any way this announcement should be followed shortly thereafter with powerful signs and wonders. If he is like Jesus, he wouldn’t announce himself at all but just go do great works which would be followed by great controversy.

Do you really disagree with this premise? I guess if you thought you were one of the many who see himself as the OMS I could understand. Otherwise, it is difficult to see why you disagree so.

Thinking is easy, acting is difficult, and to put one’s thought into action is the most difficult thing in the world. – J.W. Goethe

Looking for Mr. Right

Looking for Mr. Right

I thought you may be interested in a post I made to an alternative Mormon group. Keep in mind that most of these are rebel Mormons and many of them are either waiting for a man like Moses to show up or think they are the guy.

There’s been a lot of talk lately about looking for or finding the true David servant, The One Mighty and Strong, or the coming of Christ. Concerning this subject, I find it interesting how many claims have been made. It’s amazing since I have joined this group how many have had their hands up saying “Choose me. I am the great one. Is not my greatness obvious to you sinners?”

Sure they don’t actually say that, but that’s the way it comes across.

I thought I would write a few words on what we really should be looking for. This is not based on me just proclaiming it, but by giving the readers evidence.

And where is that evidence?

From the past.

Let us look at three great servants and see how they were recognized and then apply what we learn to recognizing servants to come. Logic tells us that since history repeats itself and if there are similarities in these three then we should get some pretty good clues what to look for.

Three significant servants in history according to LDs thinking are Moses, Jesus and Joseph Smith.

Let us start with Moses.

After discovering he was a Hebrew he fled Egypt and lived for 40 years in the wilderness herding sheep. It is quite possible he suspected he may be the prophesied deliverer, but held his peace. He didn’t go around saying “I am the deliverer. You must listen to me because I am an important person.”

Even if Moses knew he was the one he had the common sense to know that people wouldn’t accept him just because he proclaimed himself.

So how did the people find out about Moses?

They had evidence of who he was when they saw him boldly go before the presence of the Pharaoh time and time again with power that overwhelmed all his magicians.

Finally, when they crossed through the Red Sea and were delivered, they were pretty certain Moses was their deliverer.

They continued to have doubts, but their conviction was increased when additional works as well as inspired words, such as the Ten Commandments, were given out by him.

Conclusion:   The works and the words of Moses bore him witness. Never did he have to proclaim himself as the deliverer, though he did tell the Elders about his revelation. After he performed the works of a deliverer and gave the words of the caliber of a prophet the people just knew.

Jesus:

Jesus showed up almost out of the blue and performed mighty miracles and works. He gave out eternal words that will not pass away, greater than the ear of man had ever heard.

Never did he announce to the people that he was the Messiah. He did not have to. His works and his words made the proclamation for him.

How did he find his disciples? He went to them and invited them to join his group. They did not have to go seek him out in some hidden location.

“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you.”  (John 15:16)

Joseph Smith:

How did Joseph receive recognition as being a prophet? Did he say “Hey guys, God talks to me. I am a prophet. Follow me?”?

No. He began his work by presenting the Book of Mormon to the people and telling them to read and pray about it. This was a mighty and unique work for its time and convinced many people that Joseph was the messenger of the age.

In addition, he presented many other great words and works even to the building of cities, temples and gathering a great people as did Moses.

The first vision was not used as a proselytizing tool in the beginning. The witnesses to Joseph were the words and works he brought forth.

On this note you might want to go back and read my comments on the two witnesses from the Book of Revelation which are the Words and Works of a disciple.

Taking all this into account what should we look for in seeking the servant who is to come?

I’ll tell you what we should not look for and that is he will not be found among the many with no significant works or words, but with their hand up saying “Listen to me. I am he.” If he thought he knew who he was he would bide his time in the wilderness as did Moses. After all, he could be wrong, and then he would not wind up embarrassing himself.

We as seekers should look for a reasonable repetition of the past. The next servant (or servants) will announce himself with his works and words. Instead of believing one who says “I am he,” the seekers will be asking “Who is this guy? Could he be the one? Let’s check him out.”

Here we see that right up to the crucifixion that Jesus had not clearly identified himself:

“But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.”  (Matthew 26:63)

He did tell them previously. He told them through his mighty works and his eternal words.

Thus, today we need to look for servants and teachers who are giving out teachings that touch the spirit within and perform works that inspire us because they move forward the will of God on earth as it is in heaven.

After posting the above a reader says:

“Since the Davidic servant has been likened in scripture as being raised up “like Moses”, it would seem Moses would be a great source of comparison. But we must look at the true story of Moses as it appears in scripture to compare him.

“I am wondering first here, what ‘prophesised deliverer’ Moses was supposed to suspect he was, JJ? The only Deliverer prophesised or promised in Jewish scripture are about the coming of Jesus, not Moses. There was no tradition, no scriptural promise, of a deliverer that God would send to the poor suffering Israelites to save them from their troubles in Egypt. No, Moses did not suspect ever he was the “prophesised deliverer”, because he had never heard of any such a person.”

JJ: Not so fast. Anyone with a Mormon background ought to know that the orthodox scriptures do not give all the prophesies or the history of Israel.

Here is a crystal clear prediction of Moses given by Joseph who was sold into Egypt long before the birth of Moses:

“And he shall be great like unto Moses, whom I have said I would raise up unto you, to deliver my people, O house of Israel. And Moses will I raise up, to deliver thy people out of the land of Egypt.”

“Yea, thus prophesied Joseph: I am sure of this thing, even as I am sure of the promise of Moses; for the Lord hath said unto me, I will preserve thy seed forever.”

2 Nephi 3:9-10, 16

The work of Moses is even referred to in the Book of Genesis:

“And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence.”  Genesis 50:24-25

Everyone who read this knew that God wasn’t going to come down in person and “bring you out of this land” but would use an appointed deliverer. And who was the one that fulfilled this prophecy and took the bones of Joseph out of Egypt?

“And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he (Joseph) had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you.”  Exodus 13:19

A scholar named John A. Tvedtnes wrote this:

“Joseph’s prophecy of Moses is confirmed in Jewish tradition, notably in two of the second-century-A.D. targumim, or translations of the Bible into Aramaic. In a lengthy addition to Genesis 40:12 in Targum Neofiti, Joseph interprets the three branches of Joseph of Egypt, by Robert E. Barretthe butler’s dream as representing “Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the sons of whose sons are to be enslaved in the slavery of the land of Egypt and are to be delivered by the hands of three faithful leaders: Moses, Aaron, and Miriam, who are to be likened to the clusters of grapes.” Similarly, in the Talmud, Rabbi Joshua interpreted the three branches as representing Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.”  Babylonian Talmud, Hullin 92a

All this only makes sense. After all, does not the scripture say?

“Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.”  Amos 3:7

Do you really think God would perform some of the greatest works in history through a deliverer and not tell the prophets what is coming? Many of the prophesies and prophets have been lost to history.

Were the people expecting a deliverer? Yes, they were praying every day for him to appear. Even the Pharaoh was nervous about his coming and killed all the male children in hope of preventing his appearance, just as Herod did at the time of Jesus.

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it. – Aristotle

More on the Beaver Principle

More on the Beaver Principle

A reader takes exception to my post on the Beaver Principle stating that humans could easily figure out how to build a beaver damn. In fact we have built many dams more complicated than any beaver has.

Actually, we agree here a hundred percent. If you completely misunderstood the Beaver Principle as I presented it maybe others did too.

First, I thought I made it clear that the abilities of the lower can be retrieved by the higher when I said this:

“When we become masters, we will take our attention off some of the things we do well now and learn some higher things. When this happens many of our current abilities will go below the threshold of our consciousness. We will appear to lose them, but will not lose them. Abilities that go below the threshold of consciousness are not lost, but can be quickly retrieved if attention is placed upon them.”

The higher has all the abilities of the lower, but many of these abilities are hidden below the threshold of consciousness. For instance, many think the natives living in jungles are more evolved than us because they have certain instinctual abilities in harmony with nature that civilized man does not. What the many do not realize is that civilized man lived close to the earth in past lives, but because he does not need all those native abilities while living in the cities he lets those abilities slip below the threshold of consciousness. This gives him the advantage of having the time to concentrate on learning new abilities the native cannot do.

The thing to take into consideration is this. Each individual can only focus on a limited amount of learning, so when we want to learn something new we have to take our focus off some things that may have been important to us in the past.

If the civilized person were thrown back into the survival mode in the jungles, he would not immediately have the abilities of the native person but could quickly retrieve them because he had them before.

It’s a little like learning a language. A person may spend a couple years in a foreign country but after being home for ten years it may seem that he has forgotten all he learned. But then when he returns to that country the language quickly comes back.

When I said a human cannot build a beaver damn as good as a beaver I was speaking of the present tense. If someone told you or I to go build one right now we could not do this in the present. However, all the knowledge in the animal kingdom is in humans, but below the threshold of consciousness, and can be retrieved.

We can never just jump in and do all the animal kingdom does in the present, but could if we wanted to take some time and shift our attention away from higher learning.

Now let me restate the Beaver Principle.

All living things are limited on where they can place their attention as far as their progress and accomplishment goes. Therefore, it is important that each of us place our attention on matters most beneficial to overall progress. In order to do this those with higher abilities must forfeit some work that can be done to the lesser evolved lives. In letting go of the lesser work the skill is not permanently lost, but goes below the threshold of consciousness and can be retrieved fairly quickly when needed. This relinquishing of work allows the higher lives to move forward with their own progression and learn the new.

The Beaver Principle thus spreads the work of creation evenly through the living kingdoms of the universe giving all important work and learning to do.

Example: The president of a construction company who laid brick 30 years ago no longer works as a bricklayer but concentrates on more important work for the company. It’s been so long since he laid brick that be couldn’t do it in the present nearly as well as his employees. However, if he lost everything and had to start over he could retrieve his skill quite quickly.

What were once vices are now the manners of the day. – L.A. Seneca

What’s in a Name?

What’s in a Name?

Question: If Satan’s name was Lucifer before the fall then what was the name of Jesus?

JJ: Lucifer is not a name but a classification of beings of light who laid the foundations of the earth. They were both Morning Stars, or Bringers of Light, or Lucifers as noted in Revelations:

“I (Jesus) am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.”  (Revelation 22:16)

Let us literally retranslate this:

“I am the root and the offspring of David, and Lucifer.”

Intelligence, we are told is “the light of truth” and in the beginning we were intelligences. Before creation there were great intelligences called the Sons of the Morning, or Morning Stars who were great carriers of light to the  Sons of God.

It is interesting that if we use the name Lucifer in this age one conjures up some evil dark entity bent on destruction. But if we use the meaning behind the name of Lucifer then an entirely different image occurs. If we say he is a carrier of light to his fellowmen we tend to think more of Jesus than we do Satan. This is only natural, for all great souls are carriers of light.

Now here is something very startling to some. The name Lucifer and Jesus Christ have essentially the same meaning making them essentially the same name.

The name Jesus Christ literally means “anointed to deliver.” Jesus delivered us by acting as a carrier of light. When we take upon ourselves the name of Jesus Christ, we commit ourselves to assist in the great plan of salvation by becoming carriers of light (Lucifers) to assist those who have a lesser degree of light.

To attempt to get much light by identifying any being with a name in our language does little good for the true name of any being is the totality of his vibration. A name in English is a symbol of that vibration but the symbol reveals only an infinitesimal amount of the pure essence. To know the true name of another a person must become one with that person through a spiritual communion. This is one reason Jesus established the Sacrament. If done correctly we can then tune into the essence of Christ and recognize his true vibration and know his true name through touching spirit.

This will also give us power to recognize a fallen Lucifer who is no longer a carrier of light, but a prince of darkness.

“If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!” Matthew 6:23

As we learn to know the God essence in each person, names will come to mind that reveal an aspect of that person. These aspects blend until we arrive at the name that is above “every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:” (Ephesians 1:21)  — even the name of Jesus Christ.

There is no greater meaning behind any name than to carry out the meaning behind the name of Jesus Christ which is to assist in bringing light and deliverance to those who are seeking.

For a more detailed explanation of the name of Lucifer check out my previous writings on the subject. The important thing to realize is that the name/title Lucifer describes a divine being before there was any fall, not afterwards.

Question: The scriptures speak of the importance of hearing the voice of Christ. Could you elaborate?

The truth is that the voice of Christ refers to more than the voice of a certain entity. It refers to the inner voice that speaks to all who will tune in through the Spirit.

Also, when another speaks through the medium of Spirit the one who hears in the Spirit can tell from whence the message comes.

Soon there will come another gathering and the dividing line will be the voice itself. Those who hear the voice will gather and those who do not will stay where they are.

The gathering has already taken place on higher planes and that which is in heaven will one day manifest on earth.

The Beaver Principle

Question: You have taught about the Beaver Principle wherein ordinary humans are more capable than the Masters. Can you elaborate?

A r pulled a quote from the archives on the Beaver Principle. “The Beaver Principle.”

“The highest of the Masters who have overcome physical death would see themselves polarized as a teacher in a relationship with any of us, yet they still recognize that we can do certain things better than they can. For example, most of us in the human kingdom understand that we are of much higher intelligence overall than any animal. No animal would have any concept about building an automobile or spacecraft as man has done; but on the other hand, a human cannot build a beaver dam as well as a beaver. Beavers already have the knowledge to build them better and faster than we can. The relationship of the God Kingdom to man corresponds to the human kingdom and the animal.”

Every kingdom has its particular talents that allow it to focus on certain abilities that that it can do better than the lives above or below it.

When we become masters, we will take our attention off some of the things we do well now and learn some higher things. When this happens many of our current abilities will go below the threshold of our consciousness. We will appear to lose them, but will not lose them. Abilities that go below the threshold of consciousness are not lost, but can be quickly retrieved if attention is placed upon them.

A reader voiced confusion over the meaning and function of the soul to which I responded:

I think that if we harmonize our definition of terms that you will find yourself in agreement here.

It sounds like when you use the word soul you are thinking of the immortal part of ourselves which a Christian would call our Spirit. The closest thing to this in the lingo of the Ancient Wisdom would be the Monad, not the soul. This immortal part of yourself belongs to you and no other entity – even though it is linked to other lives.

Soul is the interplay between spirit and matter. Soul contact is achieved when the seeker learns to focus on that point between spirit and matter. This focus of attention opens a door to the higher worlds. When the seeker who understands this principle refers to “the soul” or receiving from “the soul” he can be referring to anything that comes to him through the door of the soul. Through the soul he can receive knowledge from the higher worlds or higher lives such as the Masters or his solar angel.

Jesus was speaking of solar angels when he said this:

“Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 18:10)

Each of us has a solar angel that has nurtured us as a heavenly mother and is a mediator between our monad (father in heaven) and our lower nature.

I love people; it’s mankind I can’t stand. Charles Schulz, Peanuts

Quantum Leaps?

Quantum Leaps?

I was asked to comment on this quote someone pulled from another forum:

“There definitely needs to be more realization that the works of Blavatsky, Bailey, Roerich, and Cedercrans, are all from the same source of The Wisdom. They are only different forms of interpretation.”

These are indeed numerous teachers involved in the one work but there is a huge difference in quality and presentation.

Blavatsky and Bailey were major presentations that have had much wider influence and impact than Roerich, and Cedercrans or any other contemporaries. Alice A. Bailey’s teachings are unique in the fact that she was an actual scribe for a Master’s literal words. While it is indeed possible that Alice A. Bailey slipped in some of her own words at times or that DK (Djwhal Khul) made some errors himself, the purity and quality of this revelation is unsurpassed.

I think that Roerich, and Cedercrans received some contact from the Hierarchy as well as some impressions, but their writings are largely their own words and reflect the quality of a disciple’s thoughts rather than a Master.

The purpose of teachers such as Roerich, and Cedercrans is not to give humanity a major revelation as did Alice A. Bailey but to take the Ancient Wisdom and present it in a form that will reach a wider section of humanity.

Thus I would not characterize the teachings of Bailey, Roerich, and Cedercrans as three presentations of the same material for there are some major differences, especially between Bailey and Roerich.

Of the three, Bailey is the main revelation, or the vine and Roerich, and Cedercrans are two branches which have value in bringing forth fruit, but further from the source of pure principles.

I do not believe the Hierarchy ever saw Roerich and Cedercrans as direct representatives whose thoughts represented their thoughts, but as disciples that could be stimulated to assist others upon the Path.

There are some claims of new presentations of the Ancient Wisdom, but I haven’t seen any new material of significance, however, there are numerous reinterpretations. Of course, each teacher gives his own take on the subject, but I wouldn’t say that any teacher I have seen has given a strong enough presentation to create a new world thoughtform.

Some teachers claim that a quantum leap in evolution has happened since World War II, but I see humanity’s evolution since World War II as falling behind expectations, if anything. Where is this quantum leap in consciousness? True we have made technological advances, but that is another matter. Many disciples and aspirants are caught up in the thoughtform that humanity has or is about to make a great leap and evidence does not bear this out. Many disciples have been a disappointment and have gotten bogged down in glamour and illusion. Much of this has to be dispelled before a leap in group consciousness can be made.

There is a teaching in circulation that the first five initiations have been reduced to one. This is definitely not true. For an aspirant to even absorb three initiations at once would be so disruptive it would cause death. Five at once is unthinkable. The unfolding energies within have to be adjusted gradually else great harm could follow.

Here are some more words from the Old Commentary:

“The assuaging waters cool. They slowly bring relief, abstracting form from all that can be touched. The quivering fever heat of long repressed desire yields to the cooling draught. Water and pain negate each other. Long is the process of the cooling draught.

“The burning fire releases all that blocks the way of life. Bliss comes and follows after fire, as fire upon the waters. Water and fire together blend and cause the great Illusion. Fog is the product of mist and steam and noise, veiling the Light, hiding the Truth and shutting out the Sun.

“The fire burns fiercely. Pain and the waters disappear. Cold, heat, the light of day, the radiance of the rising sun and perfect knowledge of the Truth appear.

“This is the path for all who seek the Light. First form, and all its longing. Then pain. Then the assuaging waters and the appearance of a little fire. The fire grows, and heat is then active within the tiny sphere and does its fiery work. Moisture likewise is seen; dense fog, and to the pain is added sad bewilderment, for they who use the fire of mind during the early stage are lost within a light illusory.

“Fierce grows the heat; next comes the loss of power to suffer. When this stage has been outgrown, there comes the shining of the unobstructed Sun and the clear bright light of Truth. This is the path back to the hidden centre.

“Use pain. Call for the fire, O Pilgrim, in a strange and foreign land. The waters wash away the mud and slime of nature’s growth. The fires burn the hindering forms which seek to hold the pilgrim back and so bring release. The living waters, as a river, sweep the pilgrim to the Father’s Heart. The fires destroy the veil, hiding the Father’s Face.” Discipleship in the New Age, Vol 1, Pages 677-78

There is a lot of food for thought in these words. Feel free to comment on any part that stimulates your thought.

However, I want members to concentrate on this statement:

“Moisture likewise is seen; dense fog, and to the pain is added sad bewilderment, for they who use the fire of mind during the early stage are lost within a light illusory.”

Why does the fire of mind create illusion, or a difficulty in seeing, as in as fog?

Now consider this statement:

“The fire burns fiercely. Pain and the waters disappear. Cold, heat, the light of day, the radiance of the rising sun and perfect knowledge of the Truth appear.”

Why do the pain and waters disappear and why does this lead to “perfect knowledge?”

The truth is the kindest thing we can give folks in the end. Harriet Beecher Stowe (1811 – 1896)

To Heal or Not

To Heal or Not

Question: How is it that Jesus healed ordinary people by their own faith? In other words, when he healed them he did not say that he or even God did it, but their faith made them whole. How did they have such faith when they were not particularly enlightened or advanced in the ways of the spirit?

The answer is that not all the credit goes to the person’s faith. As one might guess, Jesus had a lot to do with the healing. His job was to direct energies through the power of thought, using the grand principle that “energy follows thought.”

He directed his thought toward their souls and directed the sick person’s thought toward his words which were directed toward healing. When the person’s thought was successfully directed toward healing, a miracle was able to take place thus fulfilling the words of Jesus that his own faith made him whole. BUT – his faith had a little jump start through the direction of Jesus.

It is significant that when he could not direct people’s thought in the desired direction that he had no power to perform miracles.

This happened when he went to his home town and no one believed on him because he was just the son of Joseph and a known entity.

When word went abroad that Jesus was a man of miracles his work became much easier. Because of his reputation, when he entered a village, he could always find a sick person who had high expectations that he could be healed. Jesus then took advantage of this faith and directed it toward a healing. He always made sure he picked a person of high expectation for his first miracle. Then when one person was healed the faith and expectation of the others in the group was magnified and many miracles became possible.

I read a true story many years ago about one of the early explorers of the America. Something happened that he was left behind and had to fend for himself. He feared he would soon be killed by the native Indians. It wasn’t long before he came across them and was soon escorted to the chief. Because of his white skin they thought he must be a god of some kind and brought people to him to be healed.

The guy knew nothing of healing but knew if he did not perform he would probably be killed so he gave it his best shot and did some hocus pocus moves. He was more surprised than any of them that one person after another that was brought to him was healed. He lived among them for quite some time and was honored as a great healer as he performed miracles time and time again.

When this man returned to civilization, he found that he “lost” this power to heal.

The truth is that he lost nothing. Instead, he was able to heal the natives because their faith directed their thought toward healing and since energy follows thought miracles occurred.

Of course, there are other ingredients, such as karma, lessons to learn, poisons from the environment, etc.

Here is my account where I attempt to heal my Uncle who I dearly loved.

I had an uncle who also had MS for some time and was slowly getting worse. For some reason I did not feel impressed to try to heal him. I picked up that he did not believe he could be healed unless it was by one who held the office of an elder of the church. Years later when I did become an elder I approached him and asked him if I could give him a blessing. As me and a companion laid our hands on his head and I began to speak I tried with all my power to give the command to my beloved uncle to rise and walk, but the spirit within told me no. It was not to be. I then gave him a general blessing of support, but could not promise him a healing. Then a couple years later I tried again and still the Spirit within said no – the time is not yet.

Finally, some time later again I was visiting my uncle who was cared for by my grandmother. My friend Wayne from the book was with me. I looked at my uncle lying on the couch. He could no longer raise himself up; he could not speak and could barely eat with my grandmother’s assistance. As I touched him I felt great sadness and wondered to myself why God would heal a casual acquaintance through me, yet would refuse to heal a man who had suffered so much for so many years – a man I loved deeply. He was one of five brothers and the whole family agreed that this man was the most spiritual of the bunch, and was the last person who deserved such a fate.

As I stood in silent contemplation the inner voice spoke to me and it said these words: “This man has suffered enough.” I stepped back and reflected. What does this mean? If he has suffered enough it would mean it is either time for him to die or to be healed. I hoped it was time to be healed, but prepared myself for the other possibility.

I turned to my grandmother and said: “Do you think it would be alright to give Bob one more blessing?”

She looked on at her son with sad eyes and said, “Yes, that would be fine.”

Wayne and I then laid our hands on his head and I promised him that he would either be healed or be taken, but that he would suffer no more. Wayne and I were in our college years at the time and the next day we departed back to school for it was the end of Christmas vacation.

Three days after the blessing I felt a powerful presence and I knew it was my uncle who had passed on. The man was absolutely thrilled to be released from that dreadful situation. He was as happy and joyful as it is possible for a man to be, and was extremely appreciative for my assistance in releasing him from his earthly prison.

A couple hours later my mom called and spoke with sadness in her voice and said: “I have some sad news. Bob died.”

I told her. “That is not sad news. It’s good news for I assure you that he is very happy to be free from that terrible disease.”

Several years ago Glenys (a founding Keys member) had a friend who had taken ill and was very concerned. She sought my help in assisting with her healing. Now if a person is not destined to be healed I usually just get a neutral feeling as it is usually best not to know about impending death. But this case was an exception and after contemplation I received the definite message she was going to die and this was somehow going to be a means of assistance to Glenys.

I was reluctant to tell her but decided that I should since I did receive the message for some purpose.

After I told her, Glenys was somewhat upset and insisted she received a message that her friend was supposed to be healed. I responded that I would be happy to be wrong in this case but for some reason her soul feels she will be of greater service on the other side.

Then a few months later her friend died and shortly after this Glenys got fatally ill with cancer. She struggled with it for several painful years.

Is it possible that her best friend wanted to go first so she could comfort Glenys though her pain from the other side?

Quite possible I think.

The difficult part of healing is that every case is different. I’m sure there were a number of people that were not permanently healed by Jesus because of their karma and needed lessons, but what true believer wants to talk about them?

I recall at the last gathering that a member approached me about healing his brother who was near death. We performed a blessing by proxy. Because I love and respect him I really wanted to help him but the words of higher authority did not come. Instead, I spoke words of comfort and as much healing as would be permitted through his soul.

Sometimes there is great joy in success and sometimes we have to accept the inevitable. But even in death there can be joy as in the case of my uncle. The moment he passed on I received a more joyous feeling from him than I ever have from a person who was physically healed. He was absolutely thrilled to be out of that situation. I’m sure our friend’s brother was also happy after his release and is planning a new and better life in the future.

DK (Djwahl Khul) said that death is part of a greater healing process and when I reflect on my uncle, I have come to realize this is true.

Imperfect Jesus

Question: Can you supply me with the source of the quote of Joseph Smith saying that if Jesus himself were with them they would find many faults with him.”

Here you go:

“Although I do wrong, I do not the wrongs that I am charged with doing; the wrong that I do is through the frailty of human nature, like other men. No man lives without fault. Do you think that even Jesus, if he were here, would be without fault in your eyes? his enemies said all manner of evil against Him — they all watched for iniquity in Him. How easy it was for Jesus to call out all the iniquity of the hearts of those whom He was among!” From Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, Page 258

The Old Commentary

The Old Commentary

Some of the greatest words written by DK (Djwahl Khul) come from a book in the archives of the Masters called The Old Commentary. DK said this work is so ancient he was reluctant to give its age.

I found it amusing that shortly after I introduced the Alice A. Bailey books to my nephew, Curtis, he came across some quotes from the Old Commentary and was very impressed. So impressed that he wrote a letter to Lucis Trust asking them what the cost of the book was.

They wrote back a nice letter explaining that the book was not available to mortal man but was retained in the lodge of the Masters.

I’m going to give a quote from the Old Commentary from time-to-time as a seed thought for the group to contemplate and then give their thoughts.

In every field of human expression, men and women are becoming definitely self-assertive. The Old Commentary refers symbolically to this in the following words.

“The Lion begins to roar. He rushes forth and, in his urge to live, he wields destruction. And then again he roars and – rushing to the stream of life – drinks deep. Then, having drunk, the magic of the waters works. He stands transformed. The Lion disappears and he who bears the water pot stands forth and starts upon his mission.” Destiny of the Nations Pages 145-146

Contemplate, run by your soul and ascertain the meaning.

Let us examine another quote from the Old Commentary.

The Old Commentary, in speaking of the work of those whose Dharma it is to dissipate world glamour, uses the following expressions:

“They come and stand. Within the midst of whirling forms-some of a beauty rare and some of horror and despair-they stand. They look not here or there but, with their faces turned towards the light, they stand. Thus through their minds the pure light streams to dissipate the fogs.

“They come and rest. They cease their outer labours, pausing to do a different work. Within their hearts is rest. They run not here and there, but form a point of peace and rest. That which upon the surface veils and hides the real begins to disappear and from the heart at rest a beam of dissipating force projects, blends with the shining light and then the mists of man’s creation disappear.

“They come and they observe. They own the eye of vision; likewise they own the eye of right direction of the needed force. They see the glamour of the world, and seeing, note behind it all the true, the beautiful, the real. Thus through the eye of Buddhi comes the power to drive away the veiling swirling glamours of that glamorous world.

“They stand, they rest, and they observe. Such are their lives and such the service that they render to the world of men.” Discipleship in the New Age, Vol 1, pages 317-318

Glamour is indeed a tremendous hurdle for the disciple to overcome as he treads the path. What insights do you get on this when you read the above words?

The Selfish Lion

Question: Do you think the Old Commentary is profound just because it is old?

There is nothing I have written that even indicates that older must be better. I am impressed with the Old Commentary because of the intelligence revealed in the words, not because it is old. I would be impressed whether it was old or new; whether it was written by male, female, old, young, high or low, etc.

When eternal words are written, words that do not pass away, then they do tend to be preserved by disciples and eventually the records of them will become old, or ancient.

Here are my comments on the first quote given out

    “The Lion begins to roar.”

The pilgrim grows in self-awareness and develops a powerful personality. He grows in personal power and exercises his influence.

“He rushes forth and, in his urge to live, he wields destruction.”

Because he is so centered on self he has little empathy for the needs of others and causes pain and destruction as he seeks fulfillment of his own desires.

“And then again he roars and – rushing to the stream of life – drinks deep.”

After a long period of time his joy seems shallow and he concludes that there must be more satisfaction to life than he has heretofore found. He takes a second look at life, excerts himself and descends into all parts of his feeling nature. Here he finds feelings that he has never before experienced, most notably spiritual love.

“Then, having drunk, the magic of the waters works. He stands transformed.”

When he tastes the benefits of spiritual love the core of the heart center begins the magical transformation through soul energy.

“The Lion disappears and he who bears the water pot stands forth and starts upon his mission.”

The selfishness of Leo is put in its right place and the positive side of the Aquarian nature surfaces. He now sees that true self interest involves service to others and assisting the whole of which he is a part. If the whole prospers then he prospers and if the whole is, sick then he is also.

He thus chooses a mission and proceeds upon his way.

Dharma

DK (Djwhal Khul) uses this word a little differently than the typical Buddhist.

In regular Buddhist philosophy finding your Dharma means to find your true philosophy of life (an aspect of Buddhism) and then to live by it.

The way DK uses it basically has this definition, though you have to read between the lines to see it.

In each life you have a basic lesson you must learn. Aspirants have to find that lesson and master it before they can be successful in devoting themselves to higher spiritual work. For disciples it may be a spiritual work or something that clears up past karma.

This lesson or mission is your Dharma. It is different for each person and in each lifetime.

The best way to convince a fool that he is wrong is to let him have his own way. Josh Billings (1818 – 1885)

The Seven Centers of the United States

The Seven Centers of the United States

Not only does the earth and humanity have seven centers but each country does.

Contemplate the United States and see if you can locate the seven cities which represent the seven centers.

And who comes up with the most accurate answer? Our little gal from Australia.

Ruth found this quote from DK (Djwhal Khul):

“In connection with the United States of America, Chicago is the solar plexus centre, whilst New York is the throat centre and Washington the head centre. The heart centre is Los Angeles.” (Externalization of the Hierarchy, Page 85)

New York as the throat center and Washington the head center certainly makes sense. I think an argument could be made that Los Angeles is the solar plexus instead of the heart, but when you realize that no city is in an evolved enough state to fully rise above the astral energies then Los Angeles does indeed seem to be the best choice. Yes, most of the city’s inhabitants are indeed into glamour and the lower emotions, yet it does at times emit a foreshadowing of true heart energy – more than Chicago or other major cities.

Think, for instance, of movies that touched the heart such as “Star Wars”, “Star Trek”, “Titanic”, “Gone with the Wind”, “Somewhere in Time”, “Spiderman”, and many others.

Three centers that DK did not identify remain to be named. These are the ajna (third eye), the sacral (sexual energy) and the base of the spine, the life center.

The ajna governs the world of ideas, higher vision and intuition.

No wonder DK did not mention the city that represents this center. It is difficult to imagine any city that represents such a lofty insight. Identification is complicated by the fact that the energies of this center are very subtle and not easily identified by the majority.

Another thing to consider is that the energy centers of a country can shift from time to time and this center moves more than any other with subtle manifestations.

In the beginning of the United States this center would have been in Philadelphia where the great ideas of the Republic manifested. An argument could also be made it represents the base of the spine – the source of our political life. Later the ajna center shifted to the general area of Illinois, which generated such thinkers as Abraham Lincoln, Joseph Smith and represented the expanding consciousness of the country in the 19th Century.

Later this center shifted to Menlo Park, California where Edison came up with his greatest ideas. This center had a secondary manifestation through Tesla in Colorado City.

During World War II it manifested in Oak Ridge Tennessee in what became known as the Manhattan Project to gather the great scientists of the world to create the atomic bomb.

The next manifestation was through a non physical land called “Camelot” which was associated with the administration of John F. Kennedy.

So where is the current manifestation of this center? Someone mentioned Boise as a center because of the teachings given out here. If it is true that these teachings are of the highest quality in the country then this could be a possibility. If they are not then one needs to look elsewhere.

Some may ask if the presence of HPB (Helena P. Blavatsky) and Alice A. Bailey in New York made that city a manifestation of the ajna center while they were there.

Actually they were manifesting the power of the throat center to which New York belongs. Why? Because they both said they did not originate their ideas or draw them down from the intuitive levels by themselves but consciously channeled them from the Masters. Because they were both a voice for others they would have been using the power of the throat center, hence their attraction to New York.

Now we ask where the sacral center would be. Sex represents physical creation and in most of the 20th century this has been represented by Detroit, which has been a great manufacturing hub for the United States. In recent times this has been waning in power and replaced by Silicon Valley.

Finally, we come to the life center at the base of the spine. Where in the world would this be?

This could be represented by the Constitution of the country and all the lives and intelligence that understand and support it.

If the time comes that this energy disintegrates then the life of the United States as we know it will die also.

We go on fancying that each man is thinking of us, but he is not; he is like us; he is thinking of himself. – Charles Reade
