Principles of Joy and Peace

This entry is part 18 of 98 in the series Principles

Principle Twenty:  The Principle of Joy

Joy in humanity has a different cause than happiness. Happiness is caused by progressing toward a goal. Joy comes through moving toward oneness with other souls and God. In other words, Joy operates on the Principle of Oneness.

When Jesus said, “I and my Father are one,” he gave the formula for unending Joy. When separated from God, Purpose and each other in the spirit we can have happiness but not Joy. But when united in spirit there is Joy unending.

Partaking of the Principle of Joy is like drinking an elixir from an eternal fountain that always flows freely. Once discovered the pilgrim can partake of it at will as often as he desires and be vitalized by it. But he can also leave the fountain and descend to the land of separation and loss of memory. Even when separated from the fountain the elixir of Joy still flows and awaits his return.

The pilgrim wanders the land of separation as a prodigal son and has fleeting moments of happiness. These moments give him incentive to keep moving forward in his journey but do not give him the satisfaction he feels awaits him. He internally senses the fountain of Joy but knows not where to find it.

He looks for it in pleasure and finds it not.

He looks for it in possessions and again it is not there.

He seeks it in carnal love and is left with emptiness.

He longs for it in his work and the longing continues.

He continues seeking without success for eons yet his hope continues for the knowledge of the fountain lies deep within, the internal memory continues as a gentle reminder.

Finally he finds the key. Not in selfish interest does the answer lie, but in service to his brothers and sisters. When he sees his brother as an extension of himself and joins with his consciousness they together rise to the garden of the God and find the eternal fountain. Even while his body dwells in the land of separation he finds his spirit can soar and drink of that water of life so he will never thirst again.

He discovers through the Oneness Principle that separation is an illusion and drinks at will.

1 + 1 = 1

Principle 21:  The Principle of Peace

We’ve talked about the principle that brings Happiness and then another that brings Joy. There is one more to complete the Trinity of fulfillment, the Principle of Peace.

There are two types of Peace — the Outward and the Inner.

The outward is easy to understand. It is merely realized through a lack of disturbance. That which disturbs however can come in many forms on three levels of existence. They are the physical, the emotional, and the mental.

Examples of that which disturbs are:

  • Physical — A person can get stuck in traffic causing him frustration and a loss of peace. He gives and receives obscene gestures to other drivers.
  • Emotional — A co-worker insults him and tells him he is a loser. Again he gets angry.
  • Mental — Through miscalculation the person has a business collapse and is greatly upset.

No matter where the cause originates, whether it be the physical, emotional or mental the main disturbance always centers in the emotions.

There can be the appearance of peace when there is no peace. This can happen when the person is afraid to speak up. This can happen under a government, a business, a church, a family or any circumstance where a person of authority has punitive power.

A nation run by a tyrant is an example of a false peace. If the people speak any disturbing words they will be jailed or killed. Because of this there are few disturbing acts and the illusion of peace, but emotionally many are in turmoil.

The second peace is the inward. Those who attain this are said to have the “peace that passes all understanding.”

The principle that achieves this peace is that the seeker will follow the highest he knows, but it must be what he knows, not what an outward authority tells him he knows.

An outward authority who claims his voice is as the voice of God can form a barrier to this peace and stir the pilgrim’s conscience putting him in a state of perpetual disturbance so he knows no peace. To find this most great peace he must throw off the outward voices that do not harmonize with his inward voice. The inward voice is the key to peace. The point of tension is reached when the inward draws as much attention as the outer. When the inward is finally chosen consistently over the outer the peace he has always longed for will come.

When the peace comes it matters not what the outward circumstances are. Friends and neighbors can be upset and shout at him; it matters not. He can be in trying circumstances and the peace remains. His world may collapse and even his emotions may be disturbed, but the great peace remains at his spiritual center and follows him through all the trials of life even unto death and beyond.

May each of us find happiness, joy and peace and thus fulfill our destiny.

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”

The Principle of the Journey

This entry is part 17 of 98 in the series Principles

The Principle Behind Enjoyment

Principle 19:  The Principle of the Journey

What do we as humans want out of existence? If you had full power what would be your choice as to the emotion you would feel? How you would spend your time, your end, your new beginnings, etc.? What position would you choose, what type of relationship, what type of possessions, physical or spiritual?

Many believe that our desired end is a perpetual state of happiness. The Buddhists believe that happiness is always temporary and nirvanic bliss is much more desirable. The Mormons teach that “man is that he might have joy.” Other teachers have said we should seek the “peace that passes all understanding.” Then we have those who believe that enjoyable pleasure is the best we can hope for and spend their lives pursuing it.

People express different ideas as to the optimum method of livingness, but the question we need to ask is what is the core principle we are looking for here and how do we apply it?

It would help to do this exercise. Look back over your life and reflect on your state of mind, your happiness, your joy or good feelings over the various situations and events during your years on this earth. Reflect on your state of consciousness and how you felt and then pick the three that would be the most desirable to experience again. What are they?

Here are some answers that may come from a group:

The day and, or the hour I fell in love.
The day I got married.
The day our first child was born.
The day I won the big race.
The day I caught the winning touchdown pass.
The day my friend told me I changed his life for the better.
The day my friends threw me a surprise party.
The day I graduated from college.
The day I started my business.
The day I got the big promotion.
The day I discovered God.
The day I found my purpose.
The day I made a tough decision that changed my life for the better.
The day just let loose and had a good time.

Pick three things and then go back in your consciousness and briefly relive them. What was special about them? What was the key ingredient that made you feel good? What principle can you apply to repeat your enjoyment on perhaps an even grander or at least a more consistent basis?

When this concept is contemplated the answer will come. It is contained in the principle of freedom and can be expressed thus: “The freedom to make a decision, to transmute that decision to a goal and the goal to reality.”

Usually it is not an hour or a day that comes where you note your happiness, but it is the process of deciding and moving toward that decision that just enhances your overall enjoyment and state of mind.

Happiness is not a state than can be achieved by pursuing it, but is a byproduct of progression toward a goal.

If happiness is progression toward a goal then what is unhappiness?

It is movement away from the goal.

Freedom is essential to happiness because without freedom there can be no movement forward. With loss of freedom comes movement away from the goals established accompanied by a negative state of mind.

Happiness is temporary because once a goal is met a person ceases to move forward and the happiness dissipates. To cause happiness to return a new decision must be made and a new goal set. As he then moves toward the new goal he then has the byproduct of happiness again should he choose to attach himself to it.

Some may consider that last statement odd, but we must realize that we came here more for the journey than for the emotional state of being happy.

If someone were to ask me if I am happy I would say that I am not much bothered as to whether I am happy or not. As I said, happiness is a byproduct. Like the aroma of good wine you take it in when you are relaxed with some extra time to sit back and enjoy, but if you have a big workload you may just drink the wine with your meal without taking the time to enjoy the flavor. Happiness is like the aroma. The person living a balanced life can take it in when he wants to, but he doesn’t need it all the time.

Life is like a journey in a car to a desirable destination. As long as you are moving toward your desire the air will be blowing past you. Normally, you are content to just drive forward and not feel the wind, but on a nice day you might have a companion drive and then you can open the sunroof and feel the moving air and enjoy the scenery.

The moving air is like happiness. It is available as long as you move toward the goal, but you do not bask in it at all times. Instead, it is available to enhance your trip. It is not the end product of your trip for when the destination is reached the wind or the happiness is stilled and a new goal must be sought.

Pleasure is like happiness in that it is always available to one who controls his destiny, but he is not always basking in it. He partakes of it from time to time to increase his enjoyment, but if he were to seek pleasure in every moment it would cease to be enjoyable.

Peace is a different matter. Internal peace through the soul can be with us always, twenty-four hours a day if we follow the highest we know and move along the path of life with harmlessness and a clear conscience.

An internal sense of joyousness can also be with the disciple at all times. To achieve this he must tune into the will of God and then do his part in bringing that will into manifestation. This sense of moving forward toward the divine will is joy and it is his forever so long as he moves in the direction of Spirit.

“Action may not always bring happiness, but there is no happiness without action.”

Principle 18: Decision

This entry is part 16 of 98 in the series Principles

Decision, Part One

Without the power of decision, which includes being responsible for the effects of our decisions, we would virtually cease to exist. We are even more than the results of our decisions. This power is somehow connected with the essence of our very being. Power of decision leads a person to the fear and guilt that causes disease and now decision can lead one back to health.

Decision is the key word as to what we are. We are decision. Every action that takes place is preceded by a deciding intelligence of some kind. I am an intelligence who just moved the glass because I decided to. A decider may use thought and emotion, but thought and emotion alone does not create motion. Thought and feeling with no decision is powerless.

In some way the very power within us that makes decisions is what we are. Let’s say you are deciding between bacon and eggs or pancakes when you have an equal desire for the two. Let your power of decision fluctuate between the two and you can feel that which is the real you, the power of decision at work.

You have two things of equal desire. Let your attention shift back and forth – you can feel the inner power, the power that actually puts things in motion.

Assume that we are more than the results of our decisions, but somehow we are decision or the power of decision itself. If you knew this was a true statement, what would it mean to you?

What God said to Moses is a major hint.

Moses asked God what His name was and back in those days the name of a person revealed what was supposed to be a person’s essence or true nature. So Moses was probably expecting something that described the typical human version of God. He probably would have been satisfied if God had told him that His name was “THE HIGH AND MIGHTY ONE” or “THE ONE WHO HAS ALL KNOWLEDGE AND WISDOM,” or something like that. The interesting thing is God did not give Moses any regular name. Instead He basically said “I AM BECOMING THAT WHICH I DECIDE TO BECOME.” He was telling Moses He was Decision and that He couldn’t give him any regular name because, as Decision, He could decide to be different tomorrow than He is today. Because God makes different decisions about how He will manifest, He cannot give any name that will apply in all time periods, except for something like “THE ETERNAL,” which is what Moses finally decided to call Him.

Look at how God has manifested through the ages. In ancient times there were supposed to be many gods. Then in the days of Moses there was just one powerful God of vengeance. Later, in the days of Jesus, God was called Love.

Suppose all the major religions are part of the plan of God, then it would appear that God has decided to manifest a little differently through each one. Perhaps He has many different identities in different places and ages.

In the beginning was the ONE, and within the ONE resided the initiating Cause. The keyword representing this Cause must be discovered by you in a future key. Within the ONE resided Decision and the latent power of decision, and at the beginning of time the great Decider made the first decision for this creation.

If He is existing outside of time and space, then no decision as we know it would be possible. So, before we can understand this principle we would have to know which two or more things were before creation; for before decision can exist there has to be two or more things to decide between.

Before there was creation as we know it, there were two things that have always been before the Decision of God. Decision is eternal because these two things have been, are, and will always be present with God as well as ourselves.

The first decision was to manifest. The second decision was to give Itself the power to exercise a decision. This decision, interplaying with the Power to exercise it created the wavelength represented by Light (or intelligence), and Love (or magnetism). Thus we have the Trinity of Power, Light and Love; or Father, Son and Holy Ghost. The wavelength created unlimited infinite space, which is the mind of God.

The interplay of these two possibilities sustains eternally, without beginning and end, the One Great Decision that interacts between the two. As a reflection of God, you and I and all other lives extend the life of God by continually deciding whether to create or not. As offspring of God the main decision before us is always whether to be or not to be!

Decision plus attention equals consciousness. In other words, consciousness was created by putting attention on a decision which had been made. The power of Decision is eternal and when the Decision TO BE, or TO BECOME, is made then the Trinity of Decision-Consciousness-Attention is instantly made manifest. This Trinity is the one great Life we call God.

The real me is not just the result of my decisions, but I am Decision, which is a reflection of God. The part of me that actually makes a decision is the real me. When I realize this, I am like God in the fact that I can then become what I decide to become.

Keep in mind that without decision, there can be no such thing as consciousness or even life or motion. Consciousness, life, and motion are created by decision, and by applying the power behind this key word to that decision.

In truth, your essence is Decision, and as Decision you have created the reality you find yourself in, whether good or bad. Slavery and victimization are always caused by the illusion that we have little or no control over the reality we see before us. If we believe we have no control, we acquiesce our real power, become subject to the decisions of others, and become like a leaf floating helplessly down a current of other people’s decisions.

By allowing your life to be controlled by the decisions of others, you are put in the position of abdicating yourself from personal responsibility and placing all blame on the decision-makers in your life. Instead, you should be the main decision-maker in your own life, which then makes you responsible for your reality in the long run. All those who are in the third category of evolution and are the teachers of the race have the realization they are the masters of their reality.

This is why the sacredness of the vote should never be overlooked. This is a key power the people must always possess if the kingdom of God is to be established on the earth. As for making changes, if people realized the power of decision within them, this nation could be turned around tomorrow. Even if only twelve people in oneness used their power of decision for good, the power to change can be enormous. I would venture to say there are not even three mortal people on the earth who function in unity with a realization of their power to change the earth for good. The power of decision is indeed unappreciated.

“First secure an independent income, then practice virtue.”
— Greek Proverb

Decision, Part Two

How can DECISION and ATTENTION be used to increase soul contact?

Actually, more important than this is to decide to follow the highest that you know and receive from your inner self. Just deciding something like “I will receive soul contact today or next week” is not enough. If one is penniless and decides to have a new car tomorrow he will generally be disappointed. If one decides to have a new car and take the time and make the effort necessary to get it then there’s a good chance he will receive it.

Similarly, the decision required of us that is most important is the decision to do that which is necessary to receive and maintain soul contact. Then when you receive contact you must then decide whether or not it is worth the effort necessary to keep the channel open enough to keep the contact continuous.

If the seeker is not sure of the path to take he can do one of two things:

  1. Do Nothing.
  2. Make a DECISION and go with it.

“But,” asks the seeker, “what if my DECISION is wrong?” This worry often produces a paralysis. At this point it is best to keep one of my favorite quotes in mind:

“Indecision is worse than the wrong decision.”

Could this statement really be true? Yes, as long as the decisions are made with a pure heart.

If you are sincere and make the wrong decision, then it will only be a short while before you discover your mistakes and start correcting them. Then as you progress and correct, it will only be a short while before you pass by those who did not act at all because of fear.

Look at the landscape of the work that needs done and make the best DECISION you can about the part that you will play and move forward with all your strength. If you have a degree of soul contact listen to the inner voice as you work. If you are working in the right direction you will sense a feeling of approval from your inner self.

We decide because of what we are and we BECOME because of what we are. And what is that?

There is a power within you that makes the actual decisions. The real you is this power which is the same power which has belonged to the One God from the eternities. Through this essence all lives are one, and that oneness becomes realized when we obtain full use of this power through the assumption of our real opportunity to make decisions.

Manifesting the fullness of this power also enhances soul contact.

“An expert is one who knows more and more about less and less until he knows absolutely everything about nothing.”
— Murphy’s Law 2

Decision, Part Three

Even though the full power of decision is available to us, we are swindled out of this power through ignorance or deception. All us, of to some degree, are deceived into thinking that we cannot use it in certain areas.

Everyone knows that if they need more money they could get another job or do something part time on the side. But the funny thing is that a person can be totally desperate for money yet opportunity after opportunity is presented to him to get ahead, but he never seems to take it. We may look at the guy and call him lazy but the problem is more than just laziness.

Many people in a situation like this — that is where they need a new car or some other item — often feel helpless and paralyzed even though the way to obtain the extra money is obvious to many.

Why does he feel paralyzed? Because he has not developed the power of decision within himself to the degree that he can DECIDE to get the car and do what is necessary to get it.

To the higher evolved among humanity the lack of power among our lesser brethren seems pathetic at times, but what we do not realize is that we have also limited our own power of decision and we seem pathetic to lives higher than human.

There are many areas of life where intelligent individuals will not take the next move forward because they are oblivious to the fact that they can even make a decision about it.

Let me give you one example. Let us suppose that Jones would like to live to be 100 but just sees this desire as a wish or whim. This person is deceived into thinking that what he decides has little to do with the fulfillment of such a wish. The fact is that he can live to be 100 if he makes a definite decision in that direction.

The Higher Self may have something else in mind or Karma may not allow him to live to be 100. This is true but on the other hand, there is just about always a way around these obstructions.

Let us say, for instance, that the plan of your life by Higher Powers has a plan for you to get incurable Cancer at the age of 50 so you can learn certain lessons.

If you make a definite decision to live to be 100 you can then get an alternative plan from your soul as to how you may learn the lesson and override the original plan.

Then there are times that your decision blends in with decisions of Higher Lives or a larger group. When this happens these influences must be taken into consideration if your decision is to be attained.

Let us say that a born again Christian has made a definite decision to go to a certain mountain on January 1, 2000 and meet Jesus who he expects will swoop him up into heaven. Will this happen just because he has made a decision about it? Why not?

Let us say that each member of the group decides that they will live to be 100 because they think this is a great idea, but then put the decision to the back of their minds and pay little attention to it. Is it likely then that they will live to be 100?

We all have our ring-pass-not. In other words, the ring-pass-not is the highest point that your consciousness can perceive, the highest point that you can make a real decision.

If you cannot make a believable decision to live to be 100 then that decision is beyond your ring-pass-not.

Jesus spoke the truth when he said that “nothing is impossible to him that believeth….” but to make the impossible come true the ring-pass-not must be expanded.

This is where conscious projection comes in. Project yourself into this situation where you are not sure of your limitations and push yourself through it with visualization and if you are true to yourself and have the courage to face your own power of decision you will come to a knowledge of how you will react in any circumstance.

Here is another principle:   If two paths lie ahead and a new choice is to be forced upon you then you will always chose the easier path (usually the worst choice) if you have not used conscious projection to see yourself making the decision ahead of time. On the other hand, if you see the two paths approaching and analyze the benefits of the two choices ahead of time and you make the decision before the event occurs, then you will generally have power to follow that pre-made decision when the path approaches, even if the decision is a difficult one.

Instead of changing the past and future what you do is create them. Each creation is a DECISION point. You can create or decide anything you want to, but decisions in time and space cannot be changed. If I decided to buy a new car yesterday, but changed my mind today I do not alter the fact that I made that decision yesterday. I can, however, alter the effect of that decision with an opposing decision today.

All direction is created by DECISION and all DECISION originates from some Life. Because Time and Space have direction we know that they are vehicles in use by one who Decides. The Universal Entity that occupies time and space over billions of galaxies is beyond the imagination of the highest Master who is merely beginning to understand the Purpose of the Logos of our tiny solar system.

The higher correspondent of consciousness, the root of the tree beyond time and space from which all consciousness, time and space springs forth is the Life Principle itself. This Life Principle is very closely related to the first key which is that power within you that makes decisions. The major decision that the Life Principle makes as far we understand it is “to be or not to be,” within the worlds of time and space.

Before any decision appears to the eye, two paths open up before the intelligent pilgrim.

A knowledge of these two paths (least and high resistance) is preparation for The Great Decision. In this great decision, the two hidden paths become visible to the seeker. They are most commonly called the right and left hand path or the path of light and path of darkness. Life and death are two other names used.

Before the decision is made the entity examines the two paths, then weighs the benefits of each and makes a judgment as to which one to take. After the judgment process is over a DECISION is made.

Decision and judgment go hand in hand.

Consider the following scripture:

“And as it is appointed unto man once to die, but after this the judgment.” (Hebrews 9:27)

The modern English word “crisis” (which is derived from the Greek KRISIS) is actually a more accurate rendering of this word than Bible translations. The actual Greek word implies a decision that brings correction. If it is used in connection with the word “judgment” the idea of a corrective judgment should be implied.

Another mistranslation in this verse is the phrase “to die.” It is more correctly rendered “to be dying.”

Let us now take into consideration these corrections and render the verse as close as possible to the Greek:

“And as it is reserved for mankind once to be dying, but on the other hand, after this [after the state of dying is over we have] the judgment [or KRISIS — the decision to correct the state of death].”

Without this positive aspect of judgment decisions would be random and lead to strange paths.

What are the three most important things we can do to prepare for The Great Decision, so when the day comes we will choose correctly?

The three preparations for The Great Decision are:

  1. The first thing you can do to prepare for The Great Decision is to follow the highest that you know.
  2. Seek to become pure in heart and become he who has pure intent.
  3. Seek to look beyond the universe of Self and cause that your actions benefit the whole with the realization that the self will be more fully realized in the long run.

The decision between the two paths is not a decision between blissful love and demonic madness. If that were all it is then all would choose the path of light. Instead many are deceived into a dangerous heading toward the dark path because they believe they are choosing love.

It is a great temptation for seemingly loving people to support the taking away of freedom so that good may come. Such decisions lessen the power of decision and as the power of decision is diminished the illusion is amplified. As the illusion is amplified the possibility of choosing the unthinkable becomes real.

We restrict the freedom of the thief to rob others because this action takes away more freedom than it adds. The only freedom that should be restricted are actions that take away more freedom or rights of the group or individuals than is added.

Overall we may define the principle of freedom as follows:

  • Those actions and laws lie within the principle of Freedom that bring greater freedom for and amplify the power of DECISION making for the group and individual.
  • The actions and laws that lie outside the Principle of Freedom are those that bring less freedom for and diminish the power of DECISION making for the group and individual.
  • To take away freedom so that good may come is illusion and the foundation of great evil.
  • To allow freedom so that evil and harm is possible is the path of light for in the end the illusion of evil is dispelled and the power to BECOME is amplified.

Although a decision to follow the path of high resistance may not work out the way the disciple wants, because they exercised the Will to follow the resistant path, they will take this valuable Will to go against the grain, plus their experience with them to new and higher endeavors. In many ways this is more important than being right.

When we look at all the alternatives between the two extremes there is always a point of decision which is the most accurate. Because of ever changing facts, situations, and circumstances, this point seems to be a moving target and thus great discernment and soul contact is needed to consistently choose the midway point; and then proceed from point to point along the path of dominating good. This midway point is not really a point from our perspective, but a path — the path of The Middle Way.

In normal times the disciple is careful rather than careless about doing the right thing. But then there comes a time that a fork in the road is reached and a choice is presented. Sometimes the disciple is in a situation where neither decision looks good and both paths seem reckless.

Like the parable in “The Immortal” the disciple must choose the path on the right, the one on the left or stand still and delay a decision through fear.

When confronted with these situations, the disciple must remember the injunction: “a wrong decision is better than no decision.”

The disciple then makes their best decision and proceeds with a willingness to make corrections when error is revealed, and a commitment to continue on the same path unless a higher way is revealed.

“I intend to live forever — so far, so good.”
— Steven Wright

Decision, Part Four

To his friends and family the disciple may appear to be taking a careless and reckless action, but to the soul he is making a divine move forward from darkness to greater light.

You are Decision and you can become whatever it is you decide to Become. Tune into the male and female energies within you and use their forces to best serve the direction you wish to take.

Now it is possible that several may be concerned that they are not highly evolved and may feel discouraged if they are unable to have certain spiritual experiences. Please, please, do not feel this way. What one can do — all can do — and do it through the power of Decision and Attention.

Nevertheless, we all make decisions and place attention in different areas of life so none of us are the best at everything. Some may be very talented with ideas and imagination; but not so talented with visualization. Just as some are good at music, but not business.

One of the main solutions on all levels to this problem is the first key. We must realize that we are Decision and make every effort to magnify this power and create what we decide through the power of Attention.

One of the main causes of depression is that we have avoided decisions in our past. Remember the parable in my book where Dave turned hell into heaven? Who were the really depressed ones in the story? It was the two who did not make a decision, and who stayed behind and never progressed on the path or took the risk required. Do not let fear stop you from making a decision and then putting your attention on it. If you find that your attention is focused much of the time on yourself in a negative way you must shift your attention to other avenues. Place it on your work, loved ones, learning, a hobby, etc. Every day arrange your life so that you’ll have something to look forward to. This is a little thing, but can be a big help.

It can be as simple as a glass of wine at dinner, a good TV show, a movie or a visit with a friend. These things to look forward to will not happen automatically if you are depressed. You must arrange them and place them in your path and when they are crossed focus all your attention on your enjoyment of the moment.

On the non-physical level one of the greatest causes of depression and apathy is guilt. Guilt is a negative force that focuses attention on your imperfection and paralyses your power of decision. It is caused by your allowing your attention to be placed on some outside authority who has taken the place of the God within. If God, or the power of God, is seen as existing in some man or influence from without then this entity has power to control you through guilt and thus control you through fear and depression.

Between Consciousness, Attention and Decision, Decision was the first to manifest, but then was sustained by the triangular energies of the three. The first decision that caused us to manifest as entities was “to be or not to be.” The first decision was a little like throwing the dice which created the impulse to be. This impulse pulsated around the first duality which was the possibility of becoming versus not Becoming — or eternal pralaya.

However, the key is not the definition of the words Attention, Decision and Consciousness. The key is the answer to “WHO OR WHAT AM I?”

The answer is not a definition of a word, but a principle, which is never the definition of a word. Your essence as it exists in any state of Becoming is that power within you which makes decisions, not decision itself. Decision is the key word, but not the answer. This power which is your essence does not have a name in the English language. It has not been recognized so it has not been named.

In my book there is a mention of another key word which will shed some light on this and the word was revealed in the beginning of my book on the Molecular Relationship.

That word is Purpose.

Purpose as it is used there is not purpose as we define it in our normal conversation which is related to goal setting. Purpose as we shall use it is the Initiator of all things. It is not energy, but is the initiator of energy. It is not decision, but the initiator of Decision and gives meaning to all things. Decision cannot exist without Purpose. Purpose sustains that power within you to Become and Decide. Because you are a reflection of Purpose you are that power to decide, but not decision itself.

Decision is the key word because it is the highest hint in the direction of our essence that we have an accepted word for.

Decision, Consciousness and Attention are to be seen as a Trinity, not as words to be defined. If they are seen as an interdependent Trinity created by Purpose then this will indeed be a key of knowledge to you. These words may seem simple, but even the highest masters and beyond are continually expanding their ring-pass-not on this concept.

We all may think we understand Decision-Consciousness-Attention. However, before 1492, the people of that time thought they understood the concept of “earth-circle-ship,” but Columbus discovered a key from this Trinity that led us to discover a new world.

Never be fooled by simplicity.

“Never regret. If it’s good, it’s wonderful. If it’s bad, it’s experience.”

Decision, Part Five

The only future which is a sure thing is that which is the result of a decision made by an entity with power to bring the decision to completion. Even then, the events in between the beginning and the end will not all be seen.

The Christ knew that He was coming back to teach humanity in a future age for He had decided to do so. He also knew that the kingdom of God would manifest at some future time, for this is in the realm of decision by lives higher than any on this earth.

If you decide to paint a picture you do not look ahead and see every brush stroke or the mistakes you will make that must be painted out. Instead you see the end picture and work toward it. Thus Christ was not unduly bothered with details that would transpire during the next two thousand years and was not pained by them. Passing through the Dweller on the Threshold as the representative of humanity was the painful thing.

How does one then decide to become truly free?

  1. Deciding to make a choice wherever possible rather than let all the choices that govern your life be made for you. Free will involves more than just living in a situation where you are not restricted from the outside. More importantly, it involves a decision to decide and take responsibility for your life. He who does not take responsibility for his life and actions within that life will never be free.
  2. Placing a greater value on freedom than one does on security that seems to be offered through the giving up of freedom.
  3. After deciding on choice and placing value upon it one must see through the illusions that will trick him into freely giving up his freedom. This is, in the end, the only way freedom can be lost — by giving it to another through your own free will. Once the true path of freedom is seen this path must be followed, for if it is not pursued, and time passes, the night will come and the vision of the path will dim.

Freedom always revolves around decision and not around the endowment of goods and services.

The Dark Brothers try and convince us that true freedom comes by receiving an endowment of goods or favors.

The Brotherhood of Light promotes the idea that freedom comes with the enhancement of the actual power of decision and the removal of obstructions thereof.

The first philosophy involves a forced handout where the handout of goods or services is taken from person “A” and given to person “B,” and is seen as an increase in freedom for person “B,” while ignoring the problem created for person “A.” The light on the illusion comes when you realize that neither “A” nor “B” have their power of decision enhanced. In fact both usually have it diminished. The second philosophy allows true freedom to manifest for such can only occur when the power of decision is not infringed.

We may not like all the decisions people make when given freedom to do so but in the end, as water reaches its correct level, the life of the body begins to flow and a beautiful, free living society is the end result.

The mind must be stimulated and take control of the decision making process. When this occurs and the seeker begins to understand the importance of breaking free from unjust authority then all he has to do is make a decision to be led by the spirit within rather than an authority without.

I say “all he has to do,” but it is not as easy as that. While this is a true statement it is extremely difficult to make that first decision to trust the spirit within over a previously trusted authority without. But after that first decision has been made the second and third is much easier. Eventually the disciple will get a charge out of defying authorities seeking to control him and his power of decision will solidify.

All cause and effect, or all action, is motivated by some decision which has been made. This original decision lies beyond our normal understanding of the word and the true comprehension lies hidden in the principle of Purpose. The meaning of Purpose is only hinted at in the Ancient Wisdom and is briefly covered in my book on “The Molecular Relationship.”

There was creation and the impulse of decision from the Purpose of God before there was thought or consciousness. This is why the sacred books tell us that there was chaos in the beginning. As thought and consciousness evolved chaos gravitated to organization. All organization we see before us — such as the human cell or DNA is the result of conscious thought on some level, but now operates automatically below the threshold of consciousness.

Energy existed before thought — and thought is organized energy.

If the “real you” is not your body, is not your feelings, and not your mind or thoughts — then what and/or who are you?

You are that power within that can make a decision from which purpose and potential power reside and from which all things spring.

Now consider this quote decribing the experience of “Decision” taken from “The Immortal” Book 2, Chapter 16:

“It was an amazing feeling, or non-feeling, and even though there was a time that decision existed with no creation, I sensed that there were universes beyond and before creation, as we know it, and I could retrieve no information about them. I did sense that God, or Decision, existed in a point beyond and before time and space. Before this point were two possibilities. They were the possibility of Something, and Nothing, or the possibility of Creation or No Creation.

“Suddenly an inspiring phrase came to me. ‘It was the decision to be or not to be. That is the question!’ So even before form and space existed there was still a duality — the possibility of nothing (female) and the possibility of something (male) or the decision to be or not to be.”

Question One:

If all things in creation originate from the principles in Purpose and/or Decision, then where did the principle of Love come from — and what is it?

If you had to describe love by writing the Law of Love what would you write?

In other words, what would you say the primary Law of Love is?

The divine aspects of Will-Power-Purpose working together synthetically manifests the First Ray which is called “Power.”

The power behind all of these is the power which activates Decision, for it is only after a decision has been made that Purpose is made manifest even though they both silently co-exist in the mind of the Creator. Then it is only after a purpose is sensed that Power can be applied. Again it is only after purpose and power is in play that Will can be exercised to manifest the decision.

Question Two:

How would you define the three divine aspects of Will-Power-Purpose; and how do you suppose they provide a key to manifesting that which the seeker Decides?

“Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family — in another city.”

The Principle of Correction

This entry is part 15 of 98 in the series Principles

Principle Seventeen:  Correction

Correction is not usually thought of as a principle, but indeed it is and an important one at that. Without it relative perfection could never be achieved. No great advancement, no thing of beauty and nothing with complexity has ever been achieved without it.

The reason absolute perfection is an illusion is because to believe in such a thing one must negate the eternal principle of correction. Because correction is always taking place absolute perfection cannot be.

To see how needed this principle is visualize stopping your car on a stretch of straight road and then perfectly pointing it straight ahead in an attempt to drive it for one mile without correcting it through steering. After pointing it straight ahead you start the engine and hit the gas pedal. We all know what will happen. In less than one block the car will veer to the left or the right and you will have to grab hold of the wheel and correct the direction. In fact, by the time you arrive at the first mile you will have made hundreds of corrections with the steering wheel. It is obvious to anyone who has driven a car that it is impossible to drive a car anywhere without using the principle of correction.

Now visualize an artist painting a masterpiece. Is each stroke and color applied done with perfection? No. Again he must make many corrective strokes and blending of colors to achieve the final appearance desired.

How about the creation of this world? Was it accomplished in one great attempt? No. It began as a ball of fire and condensed. Later came the oceans and an atmosphere accompanied by elementary life. The life evolved into more complex forms until the human race appeared. Millions of corrections and changes have occurred for this planet to arrive at the beauty it now possesses and yet it is still far from perfect. Millions of additional corrections must be accomplished before this planet achieves the measure of its creation.

One of the most common mistakes made by teachers of the past is they present their ideas or revelations as if they were absolute perfection from the mind of God. The problem is that even if the concepts were inspired and sound, the application of them will require much correction before they become workable. Instead of making corrections the followers try with exactness to implement the plans. This always fails and when it does the original good ideas are often abandoned and replaced with inferior ones — usually after the initiate dies.

The teacher of this age must present the basic principles behind his ideas with the thought that some trial and error, or correction, will be required before they mature and reach their maximum usability.

This principle is expanded upon in Book four of the Immortal series, Eternal Words.

Relative Perfection

This entry is part 14 of 98 in the series Principles

Principle 16:  Relative Perfection

There are two scriptures referring to perfection in relation to Jesus:

In the first Jesus said, “Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures today, and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.” (Luke 13:32)  The second scripture states, “Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him.” (Hebrews 5:8-9)

Before we go on and discuss perfection it is important that we understand the word as it is used in the Bible. There are three basic Greek words that are translated as perfect or perfection in the King James Version. The first and most popular is TELEIOO and the corresponding TELEIOS. This word does not really mean perfection as we think of the word today but more literally means to finish, accomplish, or complete. The second word is KATARTIZO. This word means to complete or finish, but in a different sense. TELEIOO has the implication of finishing a new work or effort one has taken on whereas KATARTIZO implies a restoration to something as it was in the past. Both words imply wholeness, but the first through a new task, the second through a restoration.

The third word is AKRIBELA and derivatives thereof. This is the closest Greek word to our modern word perfect. It means to do a thing precisely and exactly correct. Paul used this word in reference to the way the Jews taught the law: “I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the PERFECT (exact) manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as YE ALL ARE this day.” (Acts 22:3)

When the Bible believing people of today talk about Jesus being perfect they usually use the word in the same sense that AKRIBELA was used. That is, they think that Jesus obeyed all the laws “exactly.” They think of his perfection in the sense that he never made one mistake, that he never broke one commandment and exactly obeyed every injunction from the Bible. He was beyond reproach.

Actually, AKRIBELA was never used in the Bible in association with Jesus. The ones who were seeking for perfection, exactness, or AKRIBELA were the ones he continually called “hypocrites.” The Pharisees, Sadducees, the Doctors of the Law, Scribes, in other words, the basic religious people of the day were continually accusing Jesus of not being AKRIBELA or perfect enough in obeying the law.

The scripture says, “THE LAW MADE NOTHING PERFECT, but the bringing in of a better hope (Christ) did; by which we draw nigh unto God.” (Hebrews 7:19)

The word for perfect here is TELEIOO and is the one used in connection with the perfection of Jesus and has nothing to do with obeying the law; thus the law cannot create TELEIOO, or the perfection of Christ.

Why do orthodox Christians say that Jesus was perfect because he obeyed all the laws when the Bible says “The law made NOTHING perfect”?

Why do people worship Jesus and revere him as God because he exactly obeyed every law and scriptural injunction when the Bible says, “That NO MAN is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, the just shall live by faith. And the law is NOT of faith: but, the man that doeth them shall live in them. Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.” (Galatians 3:11-13)

Here Paul boldly states that Jesus was not perfect (or AKRIBELA) because he broke the law by his very death. The Old Testament which Paul quoted stated that anyone who was hung on a tree (or cross) was “accursed of God.” (See Deuteronomy 21:23.)  Therefore Paul explains that if righteousness comes by the law then Jesus was cursed because he was crucified on a cross made from a tree.

Why do you suppose it was in the plan of God that Jesus violated the law of perfection (AKRIBELA) to the extent that he was to be “accursed of God” by his very death. After all, he permitted it to happen. Was it so we would look forward to something else besides a black and white interpretation for our salvation? If this is so, why do we put Jesus on a pedestal by saying he never broke a law? Why do we think of him as AKRIBELA (perfect) when he was not?

One of the main reasons that Jesus was rejected by the Jews is because he was not perfect or exacting enough for them in keeping the laws of God given through Moses. He did not have the black and white attitude of the typical pious person. He realized that there is a time and season for “every purpose under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

The scripture “Be ye therefore perfect even as your Father in Heaven is perfect” is a mistranslation in almost every Bible available. Why? Because the illusion of perfection is so important for the religious world to maintain.

In this scripture “perfect” is mistranslated from TELEIOO which means “Complete, finish and puts forth the idea of finishing a job or goal that you have.” Now let’s translate this verse correctly as Jesus meant it, “Therefore finish (or complete) the work you are given to do even as your Father in Heaven completes His.” Isn’t the true rendering the more practical advice?

Again I will repeat: You have to read from a mistranslated Bible to teach the perfection of God or man. The doctrine of perfection, as the religious world understands it, is just not in there. If you do not believe me go to any standard Christian bookstore and buy a concordance (Strongs Concordance is the best.) and look these words up. This knowledge is available to all the Bible believers.

Since we are basically talking about the perfection of God let us first define perfection as it is usually used in relation to religious discussions.

Perfection:  “A state of being, achievement or attainment which cannot be improved upon and from which no further progress or improvement is possible.”

When this idea is applied to worshipped beings such as Jesus or Jehovah it is done with the idea that they can never make a mistake. Every word, action, movement and creation they make is flawless.

Basically these poor gods have nowhere do go because they have it all. They have no goals because to move toward a goal of any kind would take them away from the perfection they are now experiencing. They have nothing to learn because they are perfect in their learning. There is actually nothing even left for them to create because their creation is perfect since they are perfect.

Such a delusion about any living entity in the universe is a great example of the deception that “the Beast” has fostered upon mankind. And the interesting thing about this idea is that it is found nowhere in the Bible, but the Beast creates the illusion for the masses that it is taught in the scriptures so control becomes that much easier.

Since the Beast uses even good things like the Bible as a tool of control it must make us think his most cherished teachings are in there whether they are or not.

Ultimate Perfection is an illusion and actually undesirable. If we were to live in a state where there could not exist a goal to progress even higher then there would be no joy in living. The closest we get to perfection is what we call “Relative Perfection.” With relative perfection one can reach a state where the entity has a skill down pat so he becomes a reliable performer or he has achieved a particular goal to his satisfaction, but soon he finds another skill to master and another goal to achieve.

First let me say that to put Jesus, Buddha and other religious icons in their right place and perspective is not blasphemous as truth is the highest form of religion and is never blasphemous. On the contrary, to overstate their importance as the beast did with Jesus in the Nicene Creed IS blasphemous and needs correction in the religious world. To put Jesus in his right place in the universe is a good thing, just as it would have been a good thing to put the emperor of Rome in his right place. Only by putting all things in their right place can the truth be seen. If one puts Jesus on an even higher pedestal than He belongs then all perception of Him and his words will be seen through a fog and high illusion will be the result.

Where there is not an agreed upon measure for ultimate perfection what is called perfection is in the eye of the beholder.

On the other hand there are many absolute perfections that can be agreed upon. For instance an absolutely perfect circle has all points on its circumference exactly the same distance from the center. But in physical reality there is no such thing as a perfect circle. There is not a planet in the universe with an exactly circular orbit. No one has ever created a perfect circle. What is the best we can hope for? The closest we can come to absolute perfection is relative perfection. In other words, we can create relatively perfect circles.

Once relative perfection is reached in the world of form the intelligence behind its creation recognizes it and begins to duplicate this perfection. For instance, a proton is relatively perfect. These particles are not absolutely perfect because each proton has a very slight differentiation from all others. Because the intelligence behind the proton recognizes the relative perfection of this unit it has created these relatively perfect particles by the same principles everywhere in the universe.

Humanity does the same thing as God does. When we reach relative perfection in creation others copy this perfection to the best of their ability. Our better bicycles, for instance, are made about as close to maximum efficiency as possible. As manufacturers approach relative perfection others follow. We will never create the perfect bicycle, but we will eventually get so close to perfection that it would be a waste of time to attempt any more improvement.

This is what supreme intelligence has done with the proton. Perfection is so close that any more attention on improvement is not worth the effort. God’s efforts are now much better spent working on humans. We are far from relative perfection on the physical plane.

Crystallization

This entry is part 13 of 98 in the series Principles

Principle 15:  Crystallization

When a person reaches the high point of advancement in his life and can go no further a state of crystallization sets in. He has mastered his branch of endeavor and becomes mentally lazy and is satisfied to be the expert in his field or proficient at a trade and just does not feel the impetus to start any new learning venture outside of his specialty. Usually he only has minimal learning in his own narrow field of interests. He reaches a point of stagnation and stays there for the rest of his life and must wait until he is put in a new challenging situation in a future life to make further progress. This crystallization does not have to set in and it doesn’t happen in every case. Most of its seeds are sown by the time a man is thirty or earlier. The seeds are as follows:

  1. The man and, or woman studies or follows only one or two lines of thought or ideology and does not look outside them for light.
  2. The person sets an ultimate goal in life and is not opened to a higher goal that may offer itself later. Thus when his goal is reached he relaxes and crystallizes.
  3. An inflexible attitude that resists change, new ideas and additional learning.

If a person does not make a conscious effort to correct the trend to stagnation he will then crystallize in his early fifties and no power on earth can then teach this old dog new tricks. He may be very proficient and distinguished in his field, but his progression for this life is at that point at a halt and unfortunately he cannot seem to muster enough reason to see his situation clearly.

The first 28-30 years is like a mini-life. If one has have solved his problems and learned needed lessons then the next 28 will be like a new birth or like a second life. If the needed lessons are not learned, then the second 28-year period will bring one face to face with the same problems he had in the first twenty-eight. If the pilgrim ignores the solving of these problems he will just coast along the line of least resistance and become crystallized by the second cycle. He is also likely to suffer ill health.

When the person rests on his laurels and relaxes and takes it easy as far as progress and learning is concerned he is likely to crystallize in his early fifties. The signs of stagnation always appear earlier, but they are reversible in the first half of life, but almost irreversible in the second half.

To understand crystallization, think of raw honey when no heat is applied to it. Crystals begin to form and it will no longer freely pour and gets too hard and brittle to be usable.

This is what happens to one who passes the age of 30, gets comfortable with his vocation, his education and his belief system. He rests upon his past learning and no longer tackles new projects – no longer challenges himself. Without heat and movement his life essence becomes like honey and resists motion and becomes hard and immovable.

So what happens when a person does crystallize? All the good he does do is through automatic pilot which enables him to get some work done through the benefit of past learning, but his progression toward change and the new will be over for his life cycle.

How do you tell if a person has crystallized?

It is not always obvious, for many crystallized people are fairly intelligent and accomplished. The attitude of older people toward computers is a possible sign. The other day I saw an interview of an older, but famous and accomplished writer. In the interview he was almost bragging about the fact that he does not like to use computers, but prefers to write longhand. For an older person to be afraid to learn about computers, which are an essential part of this, is a sign that new learning is shut down and crystallization has set in. He may still accomplish a few things but it will be done on his old paradigm and will contain no new ideas or concepts.

How do we avoid crystallization? It is done through the force of Will. One must make new decisions and follow them through or continue to work toward objectives not yet accomplished. This is not too difficult before the age of thirty. To accomplish this in older age one must have some reasonable and renewed ambition. Many in the second half of life are tired of struggle and just want to relax. To overcome crystallization one cannot relax and retire from ambition and thought and this takes an act of Will. Then to continue to progress in old age in their seventies and beyond takes a still greater act of Will.

Having said this let me leave you with this thought. Let us continually ask ourselves this question. Am I resting upon my past learning and abilities or am I pushing myself to always learn more and acquire new abilities?

For all of us there will come a time that we will feel like letting our guard down and just relaxing for the rest of our lives. Periods of rest are beneficial, but we must never let ourselves give up on progression, even to the end of our lives.

The Point of Tension

Principle 14:  The Point of Tension

The point of tension is a point of stress that precedes all creation and leaps forward in evolution.

If you take a model airplane and wind up its propeller, the rubber band will incur more and more stress or tension until it becomes taut. The flyer must use judgment and reach the right point of tension. If he winds too much the band will snap and disaster will occur. On the other hand, if he winds the right amount he can constructively harness the energy of the tension to fly the plane.

Another, but different example of the point of tension is the adding of sugar to a glass of water. If you add a small amount the sugar it seems to disappear because its particles go in the empty spaces between the water molecules. But if you keep adding sugar the space between the molecules fills up and a point of tension occurs in the water. When this point of tension is reached the sugar becomes visible and some of that which was hidden materializes along with the added sugar.

This corresponds to creation. As you put ATTENTION on the work to be done and send energy to it, it may seem that nothing is happening for a period of time. But when the point of tension is reached an almost miraculous materialization will occur.

Some have wondered why I put so much attention on this list at the sacrifice of delaying the Immortal books, but a large part of the reason is to create a point of tension with the group so higher creation can take place. The group has only had a couple winds of the propeller and there are many more to go, but if we do not shift our attention and energy a miraculous creation awaits on the horizon.

The ability to keep your attention focused on a goal is essential to creating a point of tension.

This quality is different than keeping the mind steady in the light. Keeping the mind in the light gives one the power to select goals that bring spiritual progress. Creating the point of tension through focused attention gives the disciple power to achieve a goal.

The disciple can have all the good intentions in the world, but until he develops a power to achieve, all his goodness is of little direct use to the Brotherhood of Light. Nevertheless, keep in mind that basic good characteristics are never wasted, for we all go through a long period of being more of a liability to a good work than an asset and during this period many good acts of service can be performed in cooperation with other brothers and sisters on the physical plane, and sometimes discarnate entities.

All teachers are still subject to time and space as far as their work on the physical plane is concerned, and because of this, they must be careful with whom they work for one premature choice can cost them work with other disciples who are prepared.

Many worry about a lack of opportunity in this age, but to those who are prepared to work with the abilities they have (compared to those who want to work with imagined abilities) there is more opportunity than can be filled.

The trouble is that many seekers sit around and wait for some call to come which is worthy of their greatness. This is why the power to initiate is so important. No major call will come until the seeker first calls himself to step forward and do good works of service with or without recognition.

If there seems to be no great work to do, the disciple will create one and press forward with great attention even if he is ignored by all. The one higher power that will never ignore the aspiring disciple is his own soul.

The most important ability for the true disciple is the freedom to decide and carry out those decisions on the path of unselfish service. This freedom to serve according to one’s free will brings the disciple more reward than all the material things in the world and any recognition is seen as a bonus.

There are points of tension on the material level and the spiritual. Those who create such points in the material usually have material success, but the disciple shifts his attention to the spiritual so the tension can manifest revelation and spiritual knowledge which descends from the “raincloud of knowable things.”

There are points of tension created and directed by the disciple and there are also points of tension that exist in many spheres outside of ourselves. There are points of tension in time, for instance, which are created by cycles. The disciple must learn to recognize these points through the use of intuition. Thus, if he pays attention to cycles of time he will sense an approaching tension in time itself and work within that tension to assist in the creation of a work of service. If he senses a lack of tension in time he may use this period as preparation for a tension to come.

There are points of tension in space. The sacred sites of the earth are created by such tension producing an elevated energy.

There are also major points of tension in overlapping tensions of time and space and these produce powerful opportunities that draw spiritual energy.

There are also points of tension created through the focused contemplation on higher things. Those in the past who understood and used this principle have changed themselves and the world.

Initiation

This entry is part 12 of 98 in the series Principles

Principle 13:  Initiation

Does anyone know what an initiation is from a higher viewpoint?

We’ll pause here and throw this question out along with the following:

How does the development of the power to initiate prepare one for initiations?

I have taught quite a bit in the past about becoming an initiate through using the power to decide and initiate which is within us. In my writings this is presented as a self initiating power which is within us and must be used in order for us to attain to higher spiritual power. Neither presentation is at conflict and both together help to understand the principle of initiation itself, for in order to attain to the initiations one must first develop the power to initiate within.

An initiate is one who initiates. Therefore, you are an initiate to some degree when you start a business, a rock and roll band, or initiate an invention.

Christ is not looking for people who have to be told what to do in every detail, but for those who are willing to initiate good causes of their own free will and bring them to fruition.

Question: What is initiation?

Answer: Isn’t it phases of growth, or the beginning of the phase toward enlightenment?

An initiate is one who initiates. To dream and create in the imagination is only the first step. To build a prototype is a second step. But to get the concept into the hands of the public and convince them to buy and use it is by far the most difficult.

An initiation is an area in your life over which you’ll be a master. In the first initiation you prove that you’re a master over physical things. The second initiation shows you are a master over your emotions, the ego and glamour. In the third one you become a master over the world of the mind and illusion. The fact that you’re reading this shows that you’re either a probationary disciple or a disciple. A probationary disciple is one who is seeking after the Path. A disciple is one who has taken several of the initiations and committed himself to the work of the soul. The fact that you’re even seeking indicates that you are at least aspiring to something higher. Either you’re just looking or you’re committed to the purpose of your inner soul. You probably feel inside which category you’re in.

A matter of prime importance to each student is not the fact of a particular teacher’s personality but the measure of truth for which he stands. It is in the student’s power to discriminate between truth and falsity. So, I’m probably a good person to teach this class, because some of you have said, I have no personality. Let’s look at somebody like Jimmy Swaggart. He had all kinds of personality. He got up there and he cried and he just oozed personality. And why did people follow him? Because of his “personal power.” If you were to read his words on a sheet of paper without the personality behind it, what do you have? Who would pay any money just to read that? But you see him get out and storm around and cry and do all these things, then you’re swayed by his personality.

Many of the gurus and new age people we see around sway people by their personalities. People are hypnotized by emotional essence. The New Age Disciple must get beyond the personality and what we need to look at is the pure words and how they affect your spirit.

Principles 11 & 12

This entry is part 11 of 98 in the series Principles

The Ancient Law of Evil Sharing

& The Law of Dominating Good.

These are two important branch principles that spring from the principle of duality.

Many have said in the past that good and evil are really two equal forces that cancel each other out, but such is not the case. Behind that which is good is a force called the “dominating good.” In other words, in the whole scheme of things good dominates over evil.

In the example of building the house we see both good and evil at play, but overall good (the building proves) dominates and more often than not the house gets successfully completed and performs its destiny.

As I have written earlier there are only two basic forces in creation that cause duality to manifest and these are the positive and negative forces. Wherever matter or form exists these two forces are close to being equal but never exact. There are slight differences of energy even in the neutral particles. In the microcosmic world we find  ions, incomplete electron shells, molecules and cells that are a little off balance in charge and seek their opposite in charge to complete themselves. We even see this among humans where the males and females feel they need their opposite energy to balance them in a relationship.

Even so, when we observe good and evil as a duality we see that they are not exactly equal, but in the end good dominates over evil. It may seem at times that we are moving backwards, but because good always dominates this means that spiritual evolution always goes forward in the end. We may go nine steps backward while taking ten forward thus creating one dominating step toward the good.

We as human beings share the two aspects of the law.

It is only of recent date that humanity has had the amenities that make life easier for us such as automobiles, airplanes, instantaneous communications, television, computers, the Internet, tin foil, toilet paper and many more conveniences.

Much of the civilized world no longer tortures its citizens or enemies, has slaves or refuses to recognize basic human rights. Instead we are marching forward in the creation of democracies, civil rights, becoming environmentally conscious, sensitive to animal mistreatment and seek to use technology to create a paradise on earth.

Until recently such a possibility was only a pipe dream. Just a few short centuries ago life was cheap and very uncomfortable by today’s standards. Many had to spend all their waking hours concentrating on making enough money just to survive another day. Forget about television and computers; it was a luxury to just have a book or two in the house to read. Forget about air conditioning and central heating; it was a luxury to have some wood or chips to provide a polluted heat to keep them from freezing to death.

In the days of the Roman empire the life expectancy was as low as 27 years of age. Life was dangerous and uncomfortable to all but a few. Today we live almost three times as long.

There are three main reasons for this.

  1. Better dental and health care with dental being much more important than is realized. In ancient times many people died in their thirties because they either had rotting teeth or lost them and were unable to eat solid food. A huge number of people suffered painful infections that eventually killed then because of bad teeth.
  1. More plentiful food and nutrition. In many ways today our food is less nutritious and the old days, but it is more plentiful in the civilized world and we are less likely to suffer malnutrition.
  1. Even though we still have war on this planet there are a lot fewer people who have to go to war. Percentage wise there were times that half the population risked death by war compared to close to zero percent in many civilized countries today. War cut off 20 years or more of the average life span in many countries in past ages.

All these difficulties in the past and many in the present effect all people to a degree whether they be good or evil. This is why it is called the ancient law of evil sharing. No matter who the person was the evils and difficulties of the day affected them.

If we can escape a world wide conflagration with weapons of mass destruction the tide will turn on this planet so good can dominate and just as humanity shared past evils they can share in the future good.

Even if we happen to suffer setbacks of future wars humanity will eventually correct itself and in the end good will dominate. Why? Because humanity has the basic intelligence necessary to eventually see the error of its ways and correct itself so good will prevail.

As individuals we see in our own lives how we share in both evil and dominating good in our own spheres of endeavor. When we begin any project, career or business we stumble at first and make many mistakes. Eventually, however, we learn the ropes, make things work and succeed. In the end each of us has power to make the good dominate in the endeavor of our choice.

This law of dominating good causes progression to NOT take the form of an endless repeating circle, but an ever-expanding spiral of circles. Thus at each new turn of the spiral consciousness has expanded and we continually have new worlds to explore and new gains to acquire.

He who overcomes his fear of failure does so because he realizes that the lesson learned through the failure is more valuable than that which has been lost.

Let me repeat the story of Edison here: A reporter once approached Thomas Edison as he was working on the light bulb and said, “You have been working on this silly light bulb for years and have attempted 10,000 times to make it work and they have all failed. After 10,000 failures are you now prepared to admit that this light bulb idea is just a dream?”

Edison wisely answered, “My dear friend. I have not failed as you have said. Instead I have successfully identified 10,000 combinations that do not work. I am 10,000 steps closer to success and do not have many more to go.” Edison thus did not fear failure because he saw a gain behind each failure that was greater than the loss of time, money and prestige he had invested.

Edison had faith in the “Dominating Good,” or a belief that God is good.

Or more simply put we must have “faith that God loves us and wants what is best for the human race.”

No man is an island, entire of itself. Every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main… any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls it tolls for thee.

Good and Evil

This entry is part 10 of 98 in the series Principles

Principle 10

Good and Evil

The basic difference between good and evil is this: Good is that which takes us forward on the path of Spiritual progress toward greater freedom, livingness, intelligence, light and love. Evil is that which takes us back into the past to lesser freedom, lesser livingness, lesser intelligence, light and love. Evil is the reverse reflection of good, corresponding to the fact that “evil” is “live” reflected in reverse.

Good is a positive building direction; evil is that which hinders positive building and destroys before creation is complete and has served its purpose.

Hitler was evil because he wanted to take us back into an age of the tyrannical Kingdoms where the right of the king or dictator was more important than the good of the individual and the whole.

Churchill and FDR were good because they sought to move us into greater freedom where the individual could work for the good of the whole according to his or her own decisions.

Good is that which takes us toward forward toward a goal. For God it could be peace on earth good will toward men, and for an individual it could be something as basic as building a house. Good is that which moves forward the building process and evil is comparable to that which hinders or destroys it. Good is laying a solid foundation, hammering the nails, getting good materials, following the blueprint and so on until the house is complete.

Evil is anything that delays the building or threatens to prevent the completion of the house. Qualifying items would be flawed materials, poor quality workmanship, bad weather, injured or sick workers antagonistic building inspectors and so on.

The key to mastery is to learn the laws that govern light and dark and use them to make your decisions and dreams come true.

The scripture says: “And the Lord God said, Behold, the MAN IS TO BECOME AS ONE OF US, to know good from evil.” Gen 3:22

How do we become as one of the gods and obtain the power to discern good from evil? How can we read the words of a teacher and come away knowing we have discerned that which is good and that which is evil?

In other words, what is the principle behind the discernment of good and evil?

Notice the scripture tells us that man will become as “one of us” (the Gods, Elohyim) and the key to this achievement is to learn “to know” or discern good from evil.

It is interesting to note that the Bible tells us that God called prophets to warn the people during times when it was written the peopled called “evil good, and good evil; they put darkness for light, and light for darkness; and put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (Isa 5:20) The scriptures further say: “There is none that doeth good, no not one.” (Psalms 14:3)

In other words, the seeing of that which is truly good or evil is so subtle that there have been times that the whole population of the world was deceived about it.

Why is it that people are so deceived about good and evil? The answer is quite simple. They do not use the Second Key of judgment and seek to place that which is good under strict black and white guidelines and that which is evil under another set.

For instance, many today say that war of any type is evil and pacifism is good with no exceptions. Putting good and evil in a little box like this removes all power of thought, judgment and soul contact from the equation and sets the person up to be one of those who can no longer see, or know, good and evil.

Was it good to go to war and defeat Hitler? Would it be good to go to war to prevent another Hitler? Yes, of course. There is a time and place for all things. If we take an action and condemn it as always evil it will only be a matter of time before the action enters the “season” where it will be good. At that time this non thinker will find himself supporting the evil and opposing that which is good.

Now let us go back to the days of Jesus. What were some of the black and white criteria to determine the good?

One of the main ones was obedience to the Sabbath. Moses said do no work on the Sabbath and by damn, no work means no work. When Jesus and his disciples strolled through a wheat field and they grabbed a few handfuls to eat that was work – therefore Jesus was evil.

Jesus also worked on the Sabbath to heal and this verified again (to many) that he was evil.

Now we may think that if we had been alive in 1938 we would have seen that it was good to stop Hitler or had we lived in the days of Jesus we would have surely not been one of the many who condemned him.

Good and evil is much easier to see on hindsight than when we are actually facing it.

Why?

Because the vast majority of mankind have their criteria for what is good and what is evil written in stone allowing no room for personal judgment on the matter.

Here are some examples where people will reject the whole of a teaching or belief as being evil.

“He doesn’t accept the real Jesus, therefore, he is in league with Satan.”

Of course, for this person the real Jesus is Jesus according to his interpretation – or one that was taught him.

“Anyone who believes in a “new world order” is on the side of evil.”

It is interesting that many reject the Alice A. Bailey writings because DK uses this term. On the other hand, does not the Bible itself tell us a new world order is coming? A new world order can be good or evil. The phrase is neither.

“He doesn’t follow the literal constitution and is one of those who is destroying our country.”

The U.S. Constitution is a great document and the principles are sound, but there are also many good ideas that one may miss if he is too strongly fixated on it.

“Talk radio is hate radio so I will reject all that comes from it.”

Talk radio has both good and bad ideas. We do not want to miss the good ones because we think we have put evil in a box.

“Anyone who supports cutting down trees in our pristine forest is evil.”

This narrow attitude may cause one to miss the good that can come through wise logging in our public forests. Patrick Moore, founder of Greenpeace, actually teaches that we should clear-cut forests cyclically and let them grow back as a way to keep forests healthy in the long run. Like many initiates, he is rejected by those who replaced him.

There are those who come across my writings and see some things that conform to their idea of good and then think “this JJ is on the side of Christ so I will believe all he says.”

But then they may come across a phrase, a teaching or a sign that fits in their criteria of evil and will instantly turn around and reject every word I write because I am now “evil.”

The point to these examples is this. If we put good and evil in a black and white box then eventually there will come a time that we will find ourselves supporting the evil and fighting the good. What we must do instead is to understand the principle behind good and evil and follow the principle instead of judging by a piece of data or catch phrase.

In the past we have quoted DK and stated that the principle of good and evil is this. Good is that which takes us forward in evolution/progress and evil is that which attempts to pull us backwards.

By this principle then the terrorists who want to take us back to the seventh century are evil for this would strip humanity of much of the positive progress they have made.

But seeing this principle takes judgment because if our generation is corrupt then the past may represent a higher point in evolution than the present.

This just illustrates to us that tunnel vision cannot consistently see the good.

“I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. This is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant.”
― Martin Luther King Jr.
