Scientology and Krishnamurti

Scientology and Krishnamurti

It looks like our associate who has studied Scientology has been bombarded with questions about it. I see no problem with sincere questions, but I think he has been put more on the defensive than he deserves.

Yes, Scientology has a bad reputation in some areas, but that doesn’t mean everything taught within it is not true.

The fact is this. If you study any movement that has an impact on the world you will generally find that its finest hour was the beginning period of its development. If you look at the beginnings of even the most irritating of the religions and cults you will generally find some very good motives and inspiration.

This corruption (the principle of corruption) even settles in with the most inspired works. Look at Christianity initiated by the Christ. It began as a great and holy work persecuted by the vilest of men. But then, in other times, it was the Christians who persecuted the enlightened and burned the “heretics” at the stake as a “act of faith.”

Scientology, just like other philosophies must be examined through the eyes of the soul. One must take that which registers as true and leave the rest behind.

So far when our friend quotes from the Scientology philosophy he seems to bring up some good material that has registered with his own soul. I’ve never seen him bring up and wild-eyed teachings that would lead us astray.

One point I wish to clarify is this. I did say that soul contact will basically make a person a “clear” as defined in scientology.

A clear is one who has all his engrams, or negative emotional programming removed.

One with soul contact may not have all engrams technically removed, but the effects are removed. He may feel the negative pull from an engram but he can override it through the power of the soul as if it does not exist.

Even though those with soul contact are essentially clear all who are clear by means of auditing do not have soul contact. Soul contact is merely a higher way to neutralize engrams. In fact, he who has firm soul contact is closer to L Ron Hubbard’s definition of clear than are the clears of Scientology.

For Instance, Hubbard stated that a clear, freed of the emotional interference from engrams, would be logical in most every situation. But the one with soul contact will follow the path of wisdom with greater surety than the audited clear.

One thing that Hubbard definitely discovered which has merit is the power to neutralize engrams. I have tested this out and used it positively several times.

The second thing I find of interest is that his group has done a lot of research into our past dating back millions of years through the auditing process. Now you can’t rely on everything that comes up but in looking through a fairly large number one can often find some truth.

If John has studied this aspect of Scientology I would be interested in his shedding more light on their version of the history of mankind in the universe, the earth’s role and the struggle of good and evil. I am particularly interested in the big secret that we are not supposed to know that scientologists hint at.

Krishnamurti

Here is a quote from DK about Krishnamurti

“One of the first experiments He made as He prepared for this form of activity (overshadowing) was in connection with Krishnamurti. It was only partially successful. The power used by Him was distorted and misapplied by the devotee type of which the Theosophical Society is largely composed, and the experiment was brought to an end: it served, however, a most useful purpose. As a result of the war, mankind has been disillusioned; devotion is no longer regarded as adequate or necessary to the spiritual life or its effectiveness. The war was won, not through devotion or the attachment of millions of men to some prized ideal; it was won by the simple performance of duty, and the desire to safeguard human rights. Few men were heroes, as the newspapers stupidly proclaim. They were drafted and taught to fight and had to fight. It was a group recognition of duty. When Christ again seeks to overshadow His disciples, a different reaction will be looked for. It is because of this that A.A.B. has so consistently belittled devotion and advocated spiritual independence. No devotee is independent; he is a prisoner of an idea or a person.

“When Christ comes, there will be a flowering in great activity of His type of consciousness among men; when disciples are working under the recognition of the Christ, there will then come the time when He can again move among men in a public manner; He can be publicly recognised and thus do His work on the outer levels of living as well as upon the inner. For these three events, which are connected with the inherent divinity in man, the Hierarchy is working and preparing, and it will essentially register another of the results of the successful use of the new Invocation to aid in this task of preparation.” Discipleship in the New Age, Vol 2, Pages 171-172

Our friend who has studied Scientology said he had never heard of Krishnamurti before and looked into his background and found a short biography of him.

He said: His parents named him “Krishnamurti”, which means “the image of Krishna”. May believed that he was the Christ reappearing. We have talked about many of the implications of the Reappearance, so you might find this interesting.

Jiddu Krishnamurti biography

As early as 1889 Helena Blavatsky, founder of the Theosophical Society, had told certain of her students that the purpose of Theosophy was to prepare humanity for the coming of the Lord Maitreya, the World Teacher for the Aquarian Age. After Blavatsky’s death, Annie Besant and C.W. Leadbeater considered it their task to carry on this work, part of which was the preparation of a disciple who would serve as a vehicle for the Teacher when He came.

In 1909 at Adyar, India, Leadbeater discovered a boy, who had been born into an high-caste brahmin family, whose aura he judged to be completely free of selfishness. Annie Besant also met this boy and proclaimed him an incarnation of Maitreya, the messianic Buddha.

This boy was Jiddu Krishnamurti, who was then 13 years old. Adopted by Besant and Leadbeater, he received intensive training, then 10 years of schooling in England. People in many countries were informed of his future role. At the age of 27, Krishnamurti had a personal vision which convinced him that the consciousness of Maitreya was beginning to overshadow him. Theosophists throughout the world had been waiting for this development. Annie Besant traveled (1926-27) in England and the United States with her protégé Jiddu Krishnamurti, whom she announced as the new Messiah.

In 1929, following this two-year tour Krishnamurti himself rejected these claims that he was to be regarded as a World Teacher, and dissolved the World Order of the Star, a religious organization he had founded in 1911. At this point it numbered 60,000 members, managed huge sums of money, and owned tracts of land throughout the world, many designated for Krishnamurti’s future work. He was then 34 years old.

Krishnamurti also renounced his association with the Theosophical Society, declaring: “I do not want followers. My only concern is to set men absolutely, unconditionally free.” He spent the rest of his years teaching humanity how to achieve that freedom.

He retained some connection with the theosophical movement, however, and continued an active career of lecturing and writing. He finally settled in Ojai, Calif., where from 1969 he headed the Krishnamurti Foundation. His writings include Commentaries on Living (1956-60), Freedom from the Known (1969), The First and Last Freedom (1975), Life in Freedom (1986), and Think on These Things (1989).

Scientology & Soul Contact

Scientology & Soul Contact

Scientology has come up in discussions so I thought I would make some comments.

I first came across Dianetics and Scientology around 1969. I first read the book “Dianetics, The Modern Science of Mental Health” and was quite impressed. His teaching on engrams and a process to remove them seemed basically correct and quite exciting at the time.

An engram is like a hypnotic suggestion planted in our brains through a painful experience which subconsciously controls us and causes us all kinds of psychological and health problems. If they are all removed, or diffused, one then attains a state which is called “Clear.” Hubbard made it sound like a Clear would be a superman, or at least a Buddha in the making and I wanted to see if there was anything to it.

I contacted several centers and ordered more books and information and later visited a couple of them.

I was disappointed that the courses leading to the state of clear cost so much. It was much more than I could muster. I asked a couple students there who looked rather penniless how they managed to take the courses. They told me that they lived and worked there in return for the teachings. Poor fellows seemed to live on a few dollars a week. Since this life was not for me, and I was not rich, I decided to settle down with some of the books and see what I could learn.

I was disappointed that none of the other books or literature I read stimulated me like the first book. It was almost as if they were written by a different individual.

I have since concluded that his original teachings on Dianetics were inspired and involved some soul contact, but then decided he wanted to build an empire and milk the teachings for the maximum amount of wealth and power possible. This focus then diminished his soul contact and even though he still came up with some interesting ideas and teachings they did not contain the inspired principles as did his early teachings.

Even so, I gained some valuable knowledge from the writings I did study and have used some of his auditing teachings to aid with regression and healing.

One thing I found is that this is a relentless organization, for after contacting several centers I have since, for about 35 years (as of 2004) received an average of about three pieces of mail a day, some of them expensive, slick publications. This continues even though I have not responded to them since about 1971. If they just gave me the money they spent on me in postage and printing it could have paid for most of their courses.

In addition I have received many handwritten letters from students living at the organizations over the years. One thing that concerned me was that most of their handwriting revealed some mental instability and I wondered if they joined Scientology because they felt they needed help or was it that working for the organization destabilized them?

A few years ago when my nephew and I were in Salt Lake we happened by a Scientology center. Since I had not seen one for many years I thought we would pay a visit. I had read a lot about clears and levels above this but never met one so on entering the center I requested to visit with someone who was clear or above.

I believe it was the manager who eventually let us unto his office. We had a friendly conversation and he answered a lot of questions I had about the progress the organization had made since I had last looked into it. As we were talking I couldn’t help but notice that he was smoking so I said to him.

“From what I have studied from Hubbard’s books a clear who is free of engrams is supposed to be logical in all his decisions and thinking. Since you are beyond a clear how is it logical that you would be a smoker when smoking is harmful to you?”

He chuckled and said, “When you are clear you can smoke and all the harmful elements will just pass through you as if they do not exist so it is not harmful to me at all. Therefore, there is no reason for me to not enjoy a cigarette.”

My nephew and I looked at each other and we both knew the other was thinking “OK.” We shortly thereafter excused ourselves and went our way not being impressed with his illogical logic.

Around this time, I discovered that true soul contact mixed with mental polarization over the emotional can produce automatically all the benefits of the clear.

Hubbard taught the opposite of turning the other cheek. He expected opposition to his ideas and programs and mapped out an aggressive strategy of either attacking first, intimidating his enemies or at the very least being totally prepared to fire back if attacked.

Some ex-members have come away with horror stories about being attacked when they have said or written anything negative about the group – some even claim their lives have been threatened.

I also just read an amazing accusation on the web. It states that the original OT VIII initiation revealed that L Ron Hubbard was the ant-Christ, which was a good thing because Jesus was not a holy man.

There are a number of stars who are Scientologists, amount them are John Travolta, Tom Cruise, Kirstie Alley, Lisa Presley and others.

Like anything that is out there Scientology has its plusses and minuses. Soul contact will guide the initiate through the maze.

Question: How can one know for sure if he’s had soul contact or if it was just his  imagination?

We can never seem to say too much on this subject.

I have written a lot on this subject and you can ask Google to search out my writings by pasting this address into your browser:

“soul contact” site:freeread.com

Reader: “If a person can’t tell the difference between a feeling, a thought, and a flash of intuition, then they’ve probably never experienced anything other than feelings, or else they would know the difference.”

JJ: There is a lot of truth to what he says here. If a person has never felt anything above the astral feelings then when he hears others who talk of soul contact, the Spirit, Christ Consciousness, higher intuition, Still Small Voice and other items he will search his astral experiences for references. The odd thing is that he will usually find these references and believe that he has experienced as much as anyone.

On the other hand, those sincere seekers who are at the beginning of soul contact will often have some wrong perception and interpretation of true messages from the soul. They may ear the Still Small Voice and then question themselves: “Did I really perceive that or did I imagine it?” Such a person may receive his first flash of the intuition and again ask the same type of question.

But when the seeker learns to correctly perceive soul communications, the reader’s statement apples. He will then know for a surety the difference between emotional feeling and soul communications.

When I used to go to the Mormon Church, a lifetime ago, I remember that about every time someone got up and cried as they were speaking someone usually followed up with the comment that there was an outpouring of the Spirit.

While it is true that touching the true spiritual energies can make one weep, it is also true that everyone who sheds a tear is not feeling the Spirit, but is usually strongly touched in his feeling nature alone.

I marveled when I was young of how many in the church claimed to feel the spirit, yet this never caused any feelings of the spirit to resonate within me. Even so, the feelings of the Spirit did resonate within me, not from church, but from reading the scriptures, from reading Alice A. Bailey and other writings and from my own contemplations.

How can you be certain you have attained soul contact? The seeker needs to realize that when it is attained he will know for sure and realize the difference between soul contact and good emotional feelings.

I have found in my life that the guidance from the soul is to be trusted one hundred percent. How we use that guidance may be in error, but the direction from the soul and revelation of principles is as close to infallibility as we will get in the world of flesh and blood.

Right Perception

Right Perception

We’ve received a number of comments concerning right perception as covered in my book, “Eternal Words.”

Remember Right Perception is different from physical seeing with the eyes or hearing with the ears. Jesus hinted at this when he said “he who has eyes to see let him see.”

Right perception is much more than taking in light through the physical eyes, but consists of seeing or perceiving correctly.

Two eye witnesses can give different accounts of the same event, but both had eyes that saw the same thing. Even so, there is a Right Perception and that was what actually happened.

Keep in mind that Right perception is the key that leads us in the direction of the understanding of the Third Key for which there is no exact word. This is why the group gave many words that circled around the principle.

Quote from the book:

“Look, hear, feel, taste, smell and understand. During this next week you will retain some of the charge I have given you and will be more sensitive than normal. Apply yourself and reflect on how all three keys interplay as well as applying the third Key of Perception. Always be aware of what is available to perceive.”

Question: Is the name of  the third key one word or two?

JJ: Perception is accepted as the Key Word, but Right Perception just helps to clarify.

Comment: You sometimes come up with concepts for which no exact word is available. Have you ever considered coining new names for concepts which don’t have names yet?

JJ: So, you want me to become like Robert Heinlen. Grock was one of the best new words of all time.

Usually, if one can find a current word to use that comes close, it will help with the understanding. Besides, I would have to be fairly well known to cause a new word to catch on. I have coined new phrases though such as Molecular Relationship, Gathering of Lights, Divine possession, and a few others.

A reader posted an interesting story a while back giving an insight into perception. Here it is again:

Magellan’s Ships and our Ring-Pass-Not

When I was about 20 studying anthropology at university, a lecturer told a story about Magellan’s trip around the world in 1519. Apparently, Magellan’s fleet of high-sailed ships would sail into the bays of primitive islands and the natives would be extremely fearful upon seeing the great vessels which were far greater than anything they could conceive of building. It would take some time for them to get used to both the ships and strange men but eventually, they would lose their fear and accept what their eyes showed them.

But on one occasion, the fleet pulled into a bay (if fleets can ‘pull in’) and to the surprise of all the explorers, the natives took no notice of them whatsoever. They simply went about their normal activities as it the fleet wasn’t there. It wasn’t until the crew got into smaller boats and came in closer that the natives reacted – and with even greater terror than their neighbors. They ran screaming into the island’s interior and it took weeks and numerous search parties to find them and reassure them that they were safe. But here’s the crux of the story. When the crew finally calmed them and learnt enough of their language to communicate with them they found that these particular people didn’t react to the boats because they couldn’t actually see them! The ships were so far beyond their consciousness that they were literally blind to them. This true story made a big impression on me and I have spent the rest of my life straining to see what is just beyond my consciousness as I know there is so much yet to see.

In esoteric language, this is referred to as ‘ring pass not’ which is like the outer perimeter of our consciousness, the boundary which we cannot pass unless we extend it.

All that IS is ever present. As we grow in consciousness/awareness and develop our skills of perception we are able to take in more and more of all that Life has to offer. The only difference between us and the natives who saw – or didn’t see – Magellan’s ships is that we know we have nothing to fear and every extension of our vision brings us closer to the source of All so that in time, we shall see Him as he is because we are like Him.
