The Problem of Corruption

JJ: Okay, let’s continue. I’ll add a few things here. Someone asked about the various temples. The first temple was in Kirkland Ohio. That’s where they had the supernatural experiences. Joseph Smith received a vision of how it was to be built. One of his associates, Sydney Rigdon and he actually saw it together, if I remember correctly. They built it according to specifications. They had the different quorums organized in different numbers. They put the various quorums in the different rooms in the temple and the story goes that Joseph Smith kept moving from one room to another because they kept getting out of order. He wanted them in a specific order for the veil to be rent between heaven and earth. When he finally got them in the correct order, as he was instructing, a pillar of fire came down from the sky and shed light upon the temple.

It wasn’t only the believers who saw the pillar of fire, everyone saw it. It lit up the whole countryside. The enemies of the church thought the church was burning down. The next day the local newspaper published a report that the Mormon temple had burned to the ground.

Even the enemies of the church had seen that the temple was on fire. They thought it was burning down, but the people inside the temple knew that something else was happening. The veil between heaven and earth was rent and the pillar of fire came down. Many people reported seeing heavenly beings. Many different experiences happened in the temple dedication. The dedication lasted for three days.

Interestingly, the revelation of the temple building, given to Joseph Smith, said, “The glory of God” would be manifest in the temples. If it doesn’t manifest that would mean the temple has not been accepted by God. When they were persecuted in Missouri and chased out of the state they came here (to Nauvoo) and built the temple from scratch and were expecting a similar thing to happen. But just before the temple was completed Joseph Smith said, “I have to set the church in order before the temple is finished.” He saw that there was something amiss that had to be set in order to bring the pillar of fire down.

But before the temple was finished, he was killed. Brigham Young continued and finished it, but when they dedicated it no pillar of fire came down. A pillar of fire eventually came down when mobs destroyed it. (Laughter) After it was burned and just a shell remained, a tornado hit it and leveled it to the ground. It was almost like the wrath of God showing itself. Recently, the Mormons have done one of the most constructive things they’ve done in a hundred years. They’ve restored the temple to the way it looked originally. Now it’s a good tourist attraction and they do use it in their work here. Today you can’t get into the temple unless you are an orthodox member, pay tithing, don’t drink or smoke and do all sorts of things. In Joseph Smith’s day, when the pillar of fire came down, anyone who wanted could go inside.

Audience: Why did that transition take place that the person couldn’t take any substances?

JJ: An interesting story is that Joseph Smith received a revelation on what he called the Word of Wisdom. A lot of people were drinking and smoking during meetings and his wife was complaining about it, and she wanted him to ask God what He thought about it. So he got a revelation on what was good to eat or drink and what was good for the body and wasn’t good for the body. The revelation begins by saying, This is “not a commandment.” Do not give this as a commandment but leave it to people to use their own judgment. It said that strong drink it not good for you but it did name a drink which is good for you. Do you remember what it is? It said mild drinks made of barley are good. What is a mild drink made of barley? Beer. Joseph Smith drank beer.

Interestingly, scientific research shows that moderate drinkers are healthier than non-moderate drinkers. It also says in the scriptures, “The wine of your own make is good but certain wine made by your enemies may not be good.” This is the case today too. Some wines have a lot of additives in that aren’t nearly as good as some other wines. Tobacco isn’t good for you and that’s about the only one that I agree with as taught in the church today.

Even with tobacco I’d guess if you just smoked one cigarette a month it’d could be good for you. If you found the right amount to take it would be beneficial but we overdo it. We overdo in the amount that we eat and drink. It’s a human tendency if we like something we overdo. If we could find the right amount to smoke we would probably find it could be beneficial. For instance, smokers get less Alzheimer’s disease than non-smokers. Tobacco may be medicinal if it’s taken in the right doses.

He also said that hot drinks are not good for you and they have shown that if you drink too hot of drinks too often you’re more likely to get certain types of cancer. The later LDS authorities decided if they aren’t good for you in some circumstances they’re not good for you any time, so they made a black and white rule, no tea, coffee, cigarettes, or alcohol.

If you point out to a Mormon that it says in their own scripture that mild barley drinks (or beer) are good for you, they’ll go into shock! They’ve never noticed that scripture. (Laughter) They say it’s Pero, a drink from barley, but Pero didn’t even exist in the days of Joseph Smith.

Whenever you meet someone who has some strange belief it’s usually tied to a religious background somehow. Religion gets people to do and believe the oddest things. An interesting thing about the church today is that the revelation said not to make it a commandment but they did. The revelation said to leave it up to people’s judgment, but they don’t leave anything up to people’s judgment.

This is typical of all organizations. Almost every significant organization that’s appeared in history was started by some initiate that had some good ideas. Even Amway had some great ideas. Yet the Amway salesman of today will just bug you to death. I sold Amway for awhile in the early sixties and the Amway guy was really nice. Now you meet an Amway guy and he’s a pest! It’s the same with every organization that alters the world. It’s usually begun with good intentions and good ideas then within a generation or two, they will be altered so the final form becomes almost unrecognizable.

The Christian religion gets blamed for all sorts of horrors, like the crusades, burning heretics at the stake etc. People find all kinds of fault with it and there is fault to be found, yet Christianity was started by Christ, the Prince of Peace. People have taken many of His teachings and altered them and changed them to conform to their own belief systems. Many of the teachings in the name of Christ would be abhorred by Christ if He were here. This often happens.

The same thing happened with the Mormon Church and the Jehovah Witnesses. The Jehovah Witnesses are looked on as pests. They were a group that originally got together and studied the Bible just to see what it said. They said they weren’t going to organize a church and to this day Jehovah Witnesses still insist they are not a church, even though they are a church. They insist they don’t have a dogma, even though they have a dogma. When they started out, a group got together and decided they would just see what the Bible says. They were going to study at it as if they didn’t believe anything and start from scratch. So they got together to see what the Bible said. When they decided what it said, any new guy coming in had to accept what they thought it said. There was no room for creative thought once everyone decided what they thought the Bible did say. The original guys had some creative energy going. It’s that way with every organization.

The Mormon Church, of course, is no exception. It’s interesting to compare how it was 160 years ago to how it is today. For instance, Joseph Smith taught freedom of thought and really emphasized this a lot. He really emphasized thinking for yourself, communing with God without someone else interfering and telling you what to believe. Yet now the Mormon Church is the most strict of all the churches about keeping people in line with the dogmas of the church. If you were to say, “I think a little differently than the church on this.” Or, “I got a revelation from God” that’s something that really gets you in trouble fast.

Audience: Are they extreme in that they require a certain type of garment to be worn?

JJ: Yeah. So at the end of almost every organization, its faults or its problems are the distortion of what they were at the beginning. Like Christ’s main message was, “love your fellow man” but that’s the most difficult thing for many of the modern Christians to accept. Oftentimes people will feel more loved by their atheist neighbor than they will by their Christian neighbor. Any of you have any good friends who are atheists? All the atheists I know are really nice people. They go out of their way to be nice to show that the atheist can be a nice guy too.

When they completed this temple here (in Nauvoo) a lot of Mormons were really disappointed because no pillar of fire came down. They’ve rationalized that ever since and no pillar of fire has come down on a temple again. Does anyone know how many temples are built now? I’ve lost track. There are over a hundred temples now and not one pillar of fire has come down on any of them. (Note in 2021 there are 168 dedicated temples with 83 additional ones planned) Yet the scripture says that if this doesn’t happen it means the temple is polluted. It says that right in the Mormon scriptures. If a pillar of fire doesn’t come down, it means the temple is polluted.

Note – here is the scripture: “And inasmuch as my people build a house unto me in the name of the Lord, and do not suffer any unclean thing to come into it, that it be not defiled, my glory shall rest upon it; Yea, and my presence shall be there, for I will come into it, and all the pure in heart that shall come into it shall see God. But if it be defiled I will not come into it, and my glory shall not be there; for I will not come into unholy temples.” D&C 97:15-17

The current members, of course, rationalize this away because they don’t think their temples are polluted.

Audience: The LDS Church has come to a location where it’s been canonized as a church. It’s become a symbol of perfection, of self-perfection and if its membership is not compliant with all these expectations it reflects to something opposite to what it’s trying to project. So this is why there are a lot of excommunications which occur in the church. The church has a product and it’s trying to sell it out there. Two little handsome dudes are knocking on doors trying to sell a product. The focus of the church is not the individuals’ spiritual well being in my opinion.

In other words, if you as a member are compliant, then the natural outcome will be happiness and spiritual well being, as long as you’re compliant. And this does two things. It affords the individual to feel good about himself and feel joyful, and the church’s image is protected. That’s really what it’s come to, as I see it.

JJ: Just before the temple was completed Joseph said he had to set things in order in order. He didn’t mention about bringing a pillar of fire down, but that was an indication. If it was out of order then the pillar of fire wouldn’t come down. An interesting thing about the Nauvoo temple is that wasn’t the first temple like that he had built. He built a temple in Atlantis that was called the Temple Beautiful. The funny thing was that after I learned about this, I found in Edgar Cayce’s writings where he talked about the Temple Beautiful in Atlantis and I’d never seen that previously. That turned out to be quite fascinating. So this wasn’t his first attempt at building temples.

Nauvoo means “beautiful” in Hebrew and thus Nauvoo Temple means “beautiful temple,” yet the one in Atlantis was called the “Temple Beautiful.” The meaning is the same. He was the main creator of the temple back then in that day. So he was recreating here a temple that once existed in Atlantis. They did some interesting things in the temple in Atlantis that they don’t do here. They healed with music and dancing and movement. The temple was very much a healing center. In the Mormon Church it is meant to be more of a learning center. In Atlantis learning was also emphasized, but the use of temples was much more diverse.

Audience: Do you mean the lost city of Atlantis?

JJ: No, the lost continent, the sunken continent. He built a temple in Atlantis.

Audience: He reincarnated is what you’re saying.

Audience: So previously to being Joseph Smith he built one of the temples in Atlantis?

JJ: Yeah. That was when the last of the lizard people were still in existence. We talked about them recently. The lizard people wanted to continue their existence and they thought he had a secret. They thought he had the secret knowledge to continue the race so he was in hiding one particular life because they were chasing him all over the place trying to get this knowledge away from him so they could perpetuate their race. They were unsuccessful so the race died out. Now the people who were the last of the lizard race, who were sort of like spiritual vampires, those who achieved a certain amount of evolution have incarnated as humans. Some of them have adapted and others have not. Those who haven’t adapted very well have entered politics. (Laughter) They’re seeking power and continue to seek power over the race. There are a lot of good people in politics but there are many who are in it for power.

Any more questions about the Mormon experience here? We don’t want anyone to think we’re concentrating on that particular religion. They did have an inspired beginning as well as most of the other churches. Each one had a different purpose.

Christian Science had a purpose to introduce to humanity metaphysical healing techniques. They were partially successful and like the Mormons many techniques were misused and misunderstood and not presented to the world that way it was intended. Almost every organization was founded with good intentions and inspired ideas, often by an initiate and often by a representative of the Hierarchy then within a generation or two things turn around.

One thing that will happen in the New Age that will be different is the Molecular Relationship. The Molecular Relationship will be self correcting. When your body gets sick all the cells in it go into a mode to heal the body so the body becomes self healing. If you cut yourself, your body does everything possible to heal that cut so everything is as good as new. If we look at organizations of the earth, when they begin to get corrupted, there’s no healing. They don’t get better, they keep getting worse. All the nations and organizations make the same mistakes. If we look at all the governments of all the nations of the earth, they all have the same problems. They all evolve downward until there’s some type of revolution. After a revolution you either get a Hitler or a Lincoln. You either get one or the other. If you get a Lincoln you have a little progress, or a George Washington or a Winston Churchill. You have a little progress made if an initiate comes in and helps to fix things. But normally there is a deterioration in every organization until it collapses.

The Molecular Relationship will be different. We’re not going to go into this in any detail here because we don’t have time but in the molecular relationship it will be self correcting. When there is a problem, the problem will be corrected. It won’t need to wait until there’s a revolution. This is what the world is waiting for, a living organization that can correct itself so that when there is a problem, the problem will be corrected instead of letting it get worse and worse.

This problem of deterioration has been in every government and every religion and every business. Things get worse after they’re created. Look at this country. Some things have gotten better but we’re not nearly as free as we were when we first started, except for the African Americans. But as a whole we’re weighed down with many more taxes and many more laws; things have gotten worse and worse and worse.

The founders had a lot of good ideas that were implemented for a while. Many of the good ideas have been suffocated and taken away and there has been no self correction. We’ve had a few great men come and do some good and change certain things back or move certain things ahead but overall when an organization is created it deteriorates.

Hewlett Packard, for instance, was one of the best organizations in the business world. People go to work in their shirt sleeves and they have a very loose style of management. As long as the two founders were at the head of things that’s how it went. The two founders recently retired and now the people I talk to who are working for HP say it’s turning into a regular company now. It’s no longer an easy management system like they had. Things are becoming stricter and more controlled. They’re not as bad as orthodox companies yet, but my friends who work there are worried that it’s headed there.

Audience: A little mystery about the temple here in Nauvoo. The temple that burnt down had a carving of the sun, did you know that? General Washington, when he was elected as President of the United States, set up his original cabinet. His chair, where he sat in front of his table, had that carving in the backrest.

JJ: Really?

Audience: Yea, and you pointed out that Joseph Smith was Masonic but so was General Washington. This has always been intriguing to me.

JJ: Most of founders of this nation were Masons; the Masons had a strong part in the constitution. Many say the Masons are devil worshippers so that’s kind of funny.

Audience: There’s a Masonic temple in Charlotte, Michigan. My great grandfather started it. Just a few years ago all this negative dogma came of it. They tried to force them out of the community and they all huddled together. Charlotte is the county seat. I’m conflicted. Is it a good thing or what is it? It’s so secretive.

JJ: Like anything else, the Masons have gone through a deterioration. Then they have a reform once in awhile. Their basic principles are good. The basic principle is this: They believe in a positive conspiracy. They’ve been successful with a positive conspiracy using people like George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and a lot of the founding fathers. They used a positive conspiracy to create a better government. They’ve used this positive conspiracy idea a number of times successfully in history to improve things. But then other people with bad motives used conspiracy in a negative way. They kill or destroy people who don’t cooperate with them and things like that. That’s where the negative history of the Masons comes for people are black and white. They think everything is either good or bad.

People tend to judge things by saying this is good or this is bad. So when people look at the Masons the basic idea behind most people is whether it is good or bad. They find something bad in it and believe it’s the work of the devil. But Masons are just like any other organization. They’ve done some really good things and some really negative things. In the early history of this country they used a lot of subtle influence by getting the right people into positions to make positive changes. They did make some positive changes, the most positive being the foundation of this country and the constitution that was created. This was done through subtle Masonic principles.

Audience: There’s some really weird stuff, like the Washington Monument has certain stars in the night sky.

JJ: Oh yeah, they used sacred geometry, symbols and things like that. DK talks about Masonry. We’re going to talk more about him at this gathering. He says it will be reformed in the near future. Joseph Smith tried to reform it but whatever reformation he did was mostly lost because the Mormon Church today will excommunicate you if you get involved in Masonry, even though Joseph, their founder was a Master Mason. That’s another ironic twist. Many the founders of Mormonism were Masons. Yet the Mormon Church today doesn’t want any of its members to have anything to do with Masons. Any ongoing reformation started by Joseph Smith in Masonry is just gone. But DK says Masonry will be reformed in the near future. In the New Age it will play a big role.

Audience: In our little neighborhood there’s a paper that comes out once a week. They’ve been running ads for the Masons and there’s been a series of questions. If you answer yes to these questions maybe Masonry is what you’re wanting. I just wondered if anyone else has noticed things like that. Are these things the beginning of the reformation?

JJ: I don’t think the reformation has begun yet. It’s like a club these days. The Mormon Church started out on the cutting edge of religion but now it’s just like any other religion. Masonry started out a long time ago but they were the cutting edge in a lot of things and then they got a bad name because some Masons with negative intent did some pretty destructive things and used the conspiracy idea for negative ends. The Masons today are trying to counter that image that they’re devil worshippers and things like that. Now they’re kind of like a club and if you join that’s about all you get out of it. Very few of the Masons today have knowledge of the esoteric philosophy.

Audience: Is there such a thing as a thirty second degree Mason?

JJ: Since I’ve never been a Mason I can only go by what’s written about it. The Scottish Rite is said to have 33 degrees.

Nauvoo, The Beautiful

JJ: We’re going to talk a bit about Nauvoo since that’s the town we’re in for this Gathering. In addition we are gathered in the historic Nauvoo House that was constructed under the direction of Joseph Smith. There’s someone in this room who knows a lot about Nauvoo. Can anyone guess who that person may be? I thought I’d ask Susan to take a few minutes explaining Nauvoo. I didn’t want her to hear this was planned because it’d make her nervous. (Laughter) You already know everything anyway so there’s nothing to study. So please take fifteen or twenty minutes and tell us about Nauvoo and what happened here and any thoughts you want to share.

Susan: Thanks JJ:! Nauvoo means “City Beautiful.” It was originally called Commerce. Joseph Smith had a group of people who joined the Church of Christ back in the 1830s. The name was later changed to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They had the unfortunate experience of ticking off their neighbors so much that they were mobbed and looted. They kept trying to find a place where they could move and gather together. Finally Joseph Smith decided on a swamp along the Mississippi River named Commerce. He changed the name of Commerce to Nauvoo which he said means “City Beautiful.”

About 12,000 people moved to Nauvoo back in the early 1840s. This began to worry the neighbors since this was the biggest town west of the Appalachian Mountains. It was bigger than Chicago. It was a very large town. They laid it out in a very specific way. If you look at the streets, they have a specific grid pattern and they have a center. All the cities in Utah are based on the same grid pattern. They have a school, a church and so forth in the center then the houses are built around that, and then the farms go out surrounding them. That’s basically Joseph Smith’s doing.

They came here to have economic, political and religious freedom. They had their own city charters, their own government, and their own religion. They began building some of these beautiful brick homes that you will see. Joseph Smith wanted to have a home that he could entertain guests in because people visited from all over the world. He wanted the Mansion House across the street to be big enough to entertain visitors in and he wanted this Nauvoo House we are in for a hotel. It was originally his, but not finished in his lifetime.

Before the Mansion House was built Joseph lived in the brown house across the street from the Nauvoo House. Joseph Smith did live and work in this area. He also owned The Red Brick Store down the street from here.

He was married to Elisa Snow Smith (a plural wife). They were unable to have any children. They had a Masonic Lodge here. A lot of the ceremonies of the LDS people are based on the Masonic ceremonies. They thought that was a perverted form of truth so he corrected it into a more truthful form. So if you’re familiar with Masonic rituals they’re very similar to the LDS rituals.

They wanted to have a temple here. That was very important to them, to build a temple to have their ceremonies. They believed in eternal marriage and the temple ceremony would join people together for eternity. Nauvoo was a wonderful, thriving town with lots of schools. It had a publishing center with a newspaper, bakeries, everything a big thriving town would have.

My own grandparents came here in 1842. They were Germans, Pennsylvania Dutch actually. He was referred to as the old German preacher. He was a bishop of a lesser known ward, like a parish. He was the head of that ward. Michael Quinn, bless his little heart, always said in his book, he’s a lesser known bishop but we don’t talk about him because he wasn’t as important. That’s my grandpa! He was too important!

So they were here in 1842 and built a home in a little community called Haun’s Mill. It’s about 30 miles from here. Nauvoo, to me, was one of the grandest experiments because it involved people who had political and religious ideologies that were similar and it was actually working. They moved together and had their Sunday meetings and their city council meetings. They had a very tight knit community and things were starting to be very wonderful here. But as his polygamist activities got to be more and more known it ticked more and more people off.

They didn’t understand the molecular relationship and neither did Joseph Smith at that time. He perverted the molecular relationship into polygamy. Someone was going to publish an expose, one of his former associates. William Law was the publisher of the newspaper and one of his counselors in the church. He was upset about what the expose was going to be about. Under the charter of Nauvoo, as the mayor, Joseph Smith had the printing press destroyed which led to him being arrested and taken to Carthage and executed. He was to be taken to Carthage but was told by revelation to go west and hide, to go out west and take the people out that way but his brother and his wife and many of his friends were saying, “Don’t be a coward.”

He said, “If my life has worth nothing to my friends it’s worth nothing to me. I’m going as a lamb to the slaughter.” So he rode to Carthage with assurance from the government that no harm would come to him but June 28, 1844 he was murdered in the Carthage jail along with his brother Hyrum. John Taylor was shot. Willard Richards was the only one who wasn’t hurt.

The experiment was basically over with the people seeking to save their lives. Brigham Young pulled the people together and took them out west so that’s why the LDS people left Nauvoo and went to Utah.

Audience: So he was killed here?

Susan: No, in Carthage, a few miles away.

JJ: You can go visit it if you want.

Susan: You go down 96 to 136 and take a left.

Audience: He’s buried near this house?

Susan: We don’t know where he’s buried. They moved his grave around a lot.

Audience: I came here last summer and heard he was buried in the basement of this house where we are now gathered.

JJ: Was it this house? (general chatter)

Audience: The Nauvoo House, they dug them up later and moved them around.

Audience: So they believed in more than one wife?

Susan: The main LDS church believes in the law of polygamy but does not believe in practicing it because it’s against the law of the land. I personally come from polygamists in every single line. All of my ancestry is from polygamy and it’s not pretty. It was a hard thing for them to do. There are shoot-offs from the LDS faith who believe very strongly in polygamy, especially in our town of Manti. There are a lot of polygamists there. One guy has 18 wives. They all complained they aren’t getting enough attention.

They had built a temple here in Nauvoo. It was burned down shortly after the LDS people left and moved to Utah. I haven’t even seen the re-built one yet.

Audience: Is this the temple that had the pillar of light that everyone could see for miles around?

Susan: No, that was Kirkland, Ohio. There was a light burning alright on this (the Nauvoo) temple, when they set it on fire.

Audience: Can non-LDS see the inside of the temple?

Susan: No, before they dedicate a temple, people can go through as tourists. After it’s dedicated only people who don’t drink, don’t smoke, don’t adulterate, pay tithing, go to church all the time. Any other questions?

Audience: So the religion is one sect?

Susan: There are a lot of offshoots from the LDS religion. I’ve heard there are about 200 break-offs. The most common are the LDS, the Community of Christ and some other groups. What happened was that Joseph Smith promised different people at different times that they would be the one taking over the church after him. They all expected it and there was some fighting. Some believe it should be passed from father to son, that’s the RLDS or the Community of Christ. Right now their leader is the first leader since Joseph Smith’s time that wasn’t in the bloodline because there weren’t enough sons.

Audience: What is molecular relationship?

Susan: The Molecular Relationship is a book that JJ: Dewey wrote. It says that Joseph Smith, when he was gazing into the heavens, saw a certain type of relationship. He didn’t understand atoms and molecules so he applied it to a theme he knew a little about. Because sometimes it involves more than one partner he thought it might be polygamy. So JJ: explains in the book, The Molecular Relationship, which is available on the Internet, about relationships and how they should have been non-sexual. He explains how the molecular relationship should be. It’s like the 12 apostles and their wives who were very close together and saying their particular prayers together and bringing down power from above. That’s why Jesus was able to do miracles.

According to JJ: that’s one thing we’re trying to do, to get close enough that we’ll have a gathering and molecular relationship so that we’ll be able to bring down the power to do what we’re supposed to do for the second gathering. (Applause)

Audience: Who is DK?

JJ: Djwhal Khul is the Master who gave all this revelation to Alice A Bailey. We call him DK for short. He’s nicknamed among the Masters as the messenger boy for the gods since he’s one of the youngest. He’s only about 260 years old, in the same physical body he was born. Some of the masters are thousands of years old.

We’re going to talk about the various initiations and give detail and additional information to what is found in the Alice A. Bailey books. When I teach I like to give a new slant or something different or more information because I figure if you just want to understand what Alice A. Bailey has to say, or anyone else, you can just read the book. What I try to do is to present a new insight on whatever it is we’re talking about. Another thing I always try to do is to give the principle; the principle around why something works the way it does, or why something is the way it is. As I’ve said many times, the language of the Holy Spirit is in the language of principles. A principle is worth a thousand words, a thousand facts, a thousand pieces of data.

So, Alice A. Bailey began writing for DK and afterwards she began giving it out to some friends who were in the Theosophical Society, who were some of the heaviest thinkers of the day. They were quite impressed with some of the things he said and she began to make converts. Alice A. Bailey also was quite impressed with the writings. After the first book was finished she said, “I’ll continue writing for you.” So they continued their relationship.

In the beginning she heard the actual words given to her and she’d write them down. They worked together for thirty years. As they worked together so long, at the end of their relationship they became close, almost like one mind. She didn’t get words anymore, instead, she received impressions, much like packages of data, then she would write them down. DK lived in Tibet and she lived in New York. He said it took a lot of mental energy for him to send the messages.

It’s quite possible that many even in this room have received impressions from the Masters. The Masters are always looking throughout the entire world. When they go into their meditative state they look upon the world. They can see the world almost like a hologram and they see the various lights. If they see Lorraine as one of the lights, they may tune into her and see what she’s doing and look through her eyes. They’ll examine if there’s any opportunity to work with this young lady. They may see some opportunity so they’ll send her an impression as to something she could do to help, to be a servant to her fellow man, mankind or whatever. Lorraine will say, “I have to move to San Antonio!” (Laughter) I’m not saying that was from a master. It could’ve come from your soul or a number of different sources. If you get something from your soul, it’s very much like an impression from a master because when a master sends you an impression it will be through your soul or Higher Self. You can get something directly from your soul but it’s a little bit different feeling.

When you have something sent from the outside, from a higher life through your soul or something directly from your soul, it’s very similar but with a little difference in vibration. This is because each person has what you’d call a spiritual signature. If I were to tune into Rick and feel his presence, he would have a certain flavor about him, a certain feeling. If I were to understand that and adjust to it, then I’d recognize it next time I felt it. So maybe a year from now Rick may be thinking of me and I may pick it up and think that’s Rick’s vibration.

You can do this with people. You can tune in to their essence, their spiritual signature. You can recognize it in the future, but you have to get used to it because it involves your physical brain, and involves remembering just like remembering anything else. It’s like remembering a name. I may not remember all of your names. I rub shoulders with you and feel your vibration. I may not remember them all, but once you tune in and get familiar enough with it, you’ll start to remember it. We do this with loved ones. We tune into them a lot. Perhaps there are times when you feel a vibration of your mother or father, wife, daughter, son. Have any of you done that before? You feel a vibration and you know it’s their signature. The Masters do that and the Masters also have a signature. When you feel the presence of one of them it will be different than just feeling your soul because there’s an additional vibration.

So the Master may be looking through Lorraine’s eyes and think Lorraine could be of use to us if she does such and such. So they’ll send her an impression. Until a person becomes familiar with the various signatures they may think it’s their own idea. A Master tune into a scientist and say, “Hmmm this scientist could develop such and such and it would be a great use to the planet. He has the ability to do it, so let’s send him the impression to do it.” The Masters will chose someone and send him an impression. The Masters could send an impression to a scientist to work on a cure for cancer. The scientist will then think, “I know what I’m going to do! I’m going to work on a cure for cancer!” He’ll think it’s his own idea and he thought of it all by himself. Maybe he did. Sometimes we do think of things all by ourselves, of course. We can’t be black and white about this. But in this case, quite often, especially things that will really benefit humanity, a lot of the impressions people get that really amount to something came from the Spiritual Hierarchy of the planet and was sent to them to inspire them to create some great work.

One of the early books dictated was called “The Treatise on White Magic.” It has fifteen rules for magic. Interestingly, white magic is different than what most people think. People tend to think of magic as tricks of some kind. That’s not what is meant here. Does anyone know what white magic really is?

Audience: Being able to control the energies of the universe?

JJ: No. (laughter) Actually the dark magicians can also control a lot of the energies. So that’s not quite it.

Audience: Doing things for the good by working with the light, light energy?

JJ: She’s on the right track.

Audience: Centering your energy in the good?

JJ: That’s what is necessary to produce white magic. You two have the motive down. Then what follows? What is actual white magic?

Audience: Manifesting new ideas for the purpose of good? Healing?

JJ: You’re all real close. Healing can do that but of course even the dark magicians can heal. Let me give you a hint. Here’s a part of the Bhagavad Gita that DK quotes. “Though I am unborn, the Soul that passes not away. Though I’m the Lord of beings, yet as Lord over my nature, I become manifest through the magical power of the soul.” That gives you a hint. “I become manifest through the magical power of the soul.”

Audience: So, white magic would be being able to manifest using the magic of your soul?

JJ: Yes, that’s basically what a white magician is. He manifests through the magic of the soul. We become manifest actually through the magical power of the soul, but the white magician manifests other things through the magical power of the soul.

Audience: And it is innate in all of us?

JJ: Right. The ability to contact the soul and work through the soul is in us all. We just don’t understand how to do it.

Audience: So it’s an ordered process of taking the idea down into the physical?

JJ: Right. Now, what’s a black magician?

Audience: They use power for their own benefit.

JJ: If you read my last book, they’re the kind of ornery guys. What did you say?

Audience: People use power for their own benefit and gain.

JJ: Right. That’s basically it. A black magician and a white magician both have power, both can create magic but one works through the soul and the other works through what?

Audience: Matter

JJ: Right, matter. They work through the viewpoint of the personality, that’s true but they use power inherent in matter. The white magician uses power inherent in the soul. Now if you use the power of the soul, like Artie says, you have to go beyond the personality. To use the power in matter you have to focus your attention on self and this material world. The key to being a magician on either side of the fence is in the word ‘focus’. Focused attention. There is tremendous power in focusing attention. If you focus your attention finely enough and consistently enough and keep it on something long enough, you will manifest that which you desire. But is it going to do any good for the world to manifest through selfish intention? Could it do a lot of harm? Who is the most famous black magician in recent history?

Audience: Aliester Crowley?

JJ: He was a magician or at least dabbling in that area, but not the most famous.

Audience: Sadam Hussein? Hitler?

JJ: Hitler was the most famous. Hitler wasn’t a full fledged black magician but he was definitely a disciple of the black magicians. The true black magicians aren’t even in physical bodies. The full fledged ones have a vibration so low they can not even incarnate. Their plan to work through Hitler was to conquer the world, then kill anyone who had a vibration higher than the average. Kill all the lights of the earth. That would lower the vibration of the entire earth and allow some of the black magicians to incarnate. That was their plan. They were called the Overlords. They actually appeared to Hitler and gave him instructions. When he had visions he saw they were giants, very big individuals.

Understanding the Spiritual Hierarchy

Audience: My name is Andy.

JJ: Where are you from?

Andy: From Nigeria.

JJ: Oh, you’re from Nigeria? Great! (Applause)

Andy: This is my wife.

JJ: Where did you get such a pretty wife?

Audience: Nigeria! (Laughter)

Andy’s wife: My name is Belema. Pronounced Bell Emma.

JJ: Nice to meet you.

Andy: Her name means Love.

JJ: We have quite a few people from Nigeria in the group. I’m interested if you all live in the same location or several different ones?

Andy: Most of them live in the same area in a city called Port-Harcourt, Ben, Solomon and a couple of others. We read English. This is a book (the Immortal) we’ve found very profound and we brought it into our center. It’s amazing to know the amount of interest that has been aroused in that area. We put in our own contributions for building the molecule and building of the critical mass (Applause) I heard about this meeting and somehow I had the chance to come to the United States. I’m so excited. It’s going to be nice to be around at this time. There’s great energy in this group and I’m very excited.

JJ: Do quite a few people in Nigeria speak English?

Andy and Belema: We learned to speak English. Our business language is English. So our group said I should go and see what’s happening, and that I hug everybody. So we’re really, really excited to be here and to meet everyone in the room.

JJ: Several old-timers wrote me emails saying, “This year we want something heavy. You gave us some good stuff before but we have heard it several times. We want something way heavy duty. Really deep. We want you to really challenge us.” This creates a bit of a problem if we present something really heavy duty with the fact that we have old timers, new people and people of various backgrounds. We will go into some material we haven’t covered previously. We’ll try not to go too deep, but we’ll try to go deep enough to make everybody think, maybe even some of the old timers like Anni and Mindy and Susan, Robin and Larry and the rest, maybe even my wife. (Laughter) She challenges me all the time.

There’s no better challenge than Alice A. Bailey. (JJ: holding up book) This is one of her first books I ever read, called Treatise on White Magic. Alice A. Bailey was a lady who had a similar experience to Joseph Smith in some ways and at a similar age. She was about sixteen and her parents were away one day. A man appeared in her home out of the blue. He had a turban on and looked rather strange. He said his name was Koot Humi and he came to give her a message. He told her she needed to concentrate her efforts on establishing herself as a virtuous young lady and to learn more. He gave her instructions and said she had to prepare herself for the time when she would do great work here on the earth. He began to explain it to her and she said, “Well, you know I’m a regular Christian here and you don’t sound like you’re even from a Christian background. So I don’t think I’m interested.” He said, “You’re not interested now, but you will be later. When the time comes, you will be ready.”

So he gave her instructions on how to prepare herself, kind of like you would to a sixteen year old. It wasn’t real heavy duty stuff. He simply told her to be honest and gave her good Christian ideals to live up to and to prepare herself for the work she had to do. A few years later she was contacted through mental telepathy by another Master whose name was Djwhal Khul. He told her that the time had come for her to receive communications that were laying the foundation for a new age which was to come.

She still wasn’t really convinced she was supposed to do it, but Djwahl Khul contacted her several times through mental telepathy until finally she agreed to write one book. She said, “Okay I’ll do some writing for you, but it has to be with no claim of authority, because I don’t know what you’re going to say. I don’t know if it’s going to be right or wrong. If I do, it I’ll just write it. If people accept it, fine, and if they don’t, fine.” He said, “Fine, that’s the way that we want it anyway.” So she agreed to try it to see what happened and to see what kind of material would be communicated to her.

So she began to write. The first book was called Initiation, Human and Solar. This book explained a little about who the Hierarchy of the planet were, that there were several divisions within them. The head of the planetary Hierarchy is an individual who has a number of names. One name given in the Bible is the Ancient of Days. The name given by Djwhal Khul was Sanat Kumara. It’s interesting that what he gave to her coincided with what Joseph Smith taught.

Susan said one of the reasons Joseph was killed was due to polygamy, but much of the reason many people in the church hated him was when he began to teach about the hierarchy of gods. There were many who were called gods. In one of the addresses he gave before he died, he gave out a lot of information about this. He said in the beginning there was a council of gods and the council appointed one god to be the god over the earth. This agrees what Djwhal Khul said happened with Sanat Kumara. DK didn’t really talk about a council, but there probably was a council. He said Sanat Kumara was sent here twenty three million years ago. He came here from the planet Venus. Now, he didn’t come from the physical planet Venus.

Each planet had seven different globes, seven different spheres. The life on Venus isn’t on the physical surface of the planet. The life he came from was a plane a little higher than the regular physical. That’s where he came from, on Venus, and he came here in what we call etheric matter. He came here with 101 Kumaras. They came here and built the foundations of Shamballa. He was like the head god, selected as mentioned by Joseph Smith. Joseph called him the head god. When you talk about the head god to a bunch of normal people under normal Christian standards it sounds really weird. When Djwhal Khul started talking this way and said the god we worship is the god of the planet. He says Sanat Kumara was once a regular mortal man just like I am and just like you are – just as Joseph taught.

But Sanat Kumara evolved and he overcame all things on another planet and now he is our father here. Our goal is to be like him. This is what Joseph Smith taught before he was killed. When he taught this to the Mormons, a lot of people in the church were really grumbling under their breaths. It bothered a lot of them more even than the rumors of polygamy. They didn’t know for sure if polygamy was true or not. They’d just heard rumors about it. We don’t even know today how much he supposedly taught about polygamy was true because he was sealed with over fifty women and we don’t know of one child he had by any of them that can be definitely proven.

Susan: I disagree with that.

JJ: Susan thinks she has some information on one or two, right? In the sources I’ve read I haven’t found anything concrete. You should share that with me sometime because I haven’t found anything proven. He also sealed men to men. We know that wasn’t a sexual nature at that time which is in harmony with building the molecular relationship. Anyway, Joseph Smith taught about men becoming gods or men becoming like the masters. This got him into a lot of trouble. I think it contributed to his death, probably even more than the rumors about multiple marriages did.

But the head of the planet is Sanat Kumara. Most of the associates he brought with him 23 million years ago have left and gone to other places. He’s only got a handful of the original Kumaras with him now. He is over Shamballa. He is called our Father in Heaven, so to speak. In other words, He is the representative of our Father in Heaven. When you think of our Father in Heaven, in esoteric teachings, it’s more than just a nebulous father on a throne. The Father that’s over this planet is the head of Shamballa. He is the Ancient of Days as written of in the book of Daniel. There is also an internal representation of the Father and that is your individual monad.

Your monad is the beginning of your creation as an individual entity. From your monad comes all of the parts of yourself that are in creation. If you go into yourself you can contact your individual monad. This is your individual Father in Heaven. Within the realm of this monad is a complete history of everything that you have been connected with since the beginning of time. That beginning of time is further back than you can imagine. Your age as an individual in this solar system is very old but then you can go back in time to the beginning of your monad here. It has the knowledge of everything that you were in previous solar systems. Each solar system lasts for billions of years. So, each of us are very, very ancient beings. It took each of us a very long time to get to where we are right now. From the viewpoint of eternity, we’re just in the middle of where we’re going. That’s a really long way.

The next major step down in authority is what he calls the spiritual hierarchy of the planet. Who is the head of the spiritual hierarchy?

Audience: Christ

JJ: Christ. Christ is the head of the Spiritual Hierarchy. So, we have Christ and His Father, whom He called His Father is the head of Shamballa. But Christ is a step down and He’s the head of the Spiritual Hierarchy. Around Him is gathered a group who are called the Masters. Interestingly, Joseph Smith even made a mention of these Masters. He called them “Holy Men whom you know not of,” who are not under any condemnation. These Holy Men, that the people know not are the Masters. They are people who have passed what is called the fifth initiation and are able to perpetuate their lives in physical bodies for as long as is necessary.

It’s not quite the way people imagine it; that they’re resurrected and glowing all the time. They’re a lot more human than we think. The way the common Christian thinks the resurrection will be is the way the residents of Shamballa are. The Masters are a step above us. They’re ahead of us but not so far above us as they’re like residents of the mystical heaven. If one were to appear here today and walk into this room, he’d look just like you or me. You could shake his hand. For the most part they look like one of us. The teachings of Djwhal Khul, given through Alice A. Bailey tell us, that when the Masters appear they will walk among us. The biggest problem they face in mixing with humanity is they will be too ordinary and boring by people’s standards. This is one of the reasons that The Immortal was written the way that it was. Attempts have been made in the past to give teachings to humanity. They haven’t taken off.

If a Master were to come here and teach us, since he’s used to teaching other Masters really technical stuff, we find it boring. Another Master may speak like an engineer. If an engineer wants to teach us something, like how to build a bridge, we might think this is the most boring thing we have ever heard. But if he taught it to another group of engineers, they would find it fascinating. This is the problem the Masters have in communicating with humanity. They’re used to teaching and talking to each other and to very high intelligent lives. If they were to come and teach a group of regular people here we’d think, “Who are these beings? Do I want them in my life?” This is why the higher lives usually use an intermediary. Even Shamballa needs to do this with the Masters.

Shamballa is so far above the Masters that they use intermediaries called Nirmanakayas. The Nirmanakayas are intermediary lives that communicate between Shamballa and the Masters. They step down the teachings to the Masters so the Masters can understand them and appreciate them. In Shamballa they communicate on a much higher level and probably don’t even use speech very much. They use these Nirmanakayas to teach the Masters and the Masters use disciples to teach humanity. All the teachings need to be stepped down.

If we were to ascend to the Solar Logos, which is much higher than even the highest being on this planet, It’s thoughts would just fly right over our heads. No understanding would be possible. We would be like a slug trying to understand Einstein. The slug would say, “He has nothing to offer me.”

Djwhal Khul (DK) tells us there is going to be an externalization of the hierarchy. They will come and appear before us in a number of different ways. Some of them will be born as mortals. When the way is prepared, those of them who are in ancient bodies, will eventually reveal themselves. He tells us one of the problems in revealing themselves is that people aren’t ready for them. Some are expecting a razzle dazzle official group. But that’s not the way they are. They’re very quiet people who are not into the personality. An example of the personality is someone like Tony Robbins who speaks before us and really razzle dazzles us with his high astral emotion energy. We’d think this guy really is something! Let’s go walk on those coals, let’s go scream and shout and release these emotions. If a Master were to appear before us and talk, he wouldn’t be talking about pumping us up. It’d be the last thing on his mind. He’d be hoping people are prepared and are not into this emotional energy type of thing.

A Master’s emotional self is very quiet, very peaceful. He would speak very softly. He may sound a little like a corporate leader giving a boring speech to a bunch of business people. That may be the way he would sound.

DK also explains to us that it’s going to be very painful for the Masters to materialize among us. They’re used to a high vibration and to come mingle with us will be a very painful experience for them. They’re not looking forward to it. So, they’re going to put the second coming of Christ and His hierarchy off as long as they can (Laughter) because it’s going to be painful to interplay with us. Most people don’t consider that. Most people think the Christ just can’t wait to come down and mingle with us and they think it’ll be a fun experience for Him. That’s not the way the hierarchy look at it, according to DK.

Nauvoo Gathering 2003, Part 1
Understanding the Molecular Order

We had a problem with the recording equipment and if it were not for Catherine taking a video of the gathering most of this would have been lost. Many thanks to her.

The crew who transcribed and edited the text was Mindy, Melva and Sharon. Lots of appreciation to them also.

We missed the first few minutes of the beginning presentation. Since we were meeting in the historic Mormon city of Nauvoo Illinois I began by talking a little about the history of the City and the early Mormons.

JJ: Some Mormons say that Brigham Young was a thirty second or thirty third degree Mason but we don’t know for sure. The born-againers really attack the Masons. If you get online and type in the word “Masonry” in Google you’ll get more negative stuff than positive. There’s just a handful of positive material but there is a lot saying they’re Satanists and devil worshippers and all that stuff. But the born-againers are really big on attacking anything that has anything they deem suspicious; like the Colgate Company. They found some satanic symbol on their toothpaste or something and they’ve attacked them.

Audience: And Crest…they have the thirteen…

Audience: I have a question regarding the molecule that Joseph Smith built; the phases of survival of a human molecule when it’s able to correct itself. What happened to the molecule when Joseph Smith tried to create another one? What prevented it from correcting itself?

JJ: He didn’t have it complete. He didn’t have a complete knowledge of how molecular knowledge works. As a matter of fact, the revelation he received on it said ‘you will receive more later’. Then he was killed shortly after that.

Audience: Why wasn’t he able to duplicate it? He created it at one time. Since he did it at one time so why wasn’t he able to do it again?

JJ: It’s not for him to duplicate. The molecular order composed of the appostles created by Jesus was just the beginning. It was not established with enough numbers in it or people who understood it to make it self-perpetuating. So when the apostles were killed off, the knowledge of molecular order pretty much died with them. It was resurrected somewhat in what many people believe happened in the time of Camelot. In Camelot they had 12 Knights of the Round Table with their 12 wives and all were equal as they met around the round table. The sword of Excalibur was the symbol of the power of the Molecule. We talked about that in the book (The Immortal Series).

Audience: What is the role of today’s people in this molecular relationship that will actually bring about a connection?

JJ: The main role is to establish what we call soul contact. We’ve talked a lot about that on the Keys. Two people centered on their lower selves, the personality, can never establish a molecular relationship. They can establish other relationships. They can get together in business and in churches, but they can’t get together in such a way that there’s an interplay of soul energy between two or more people. When you have the interplay, and have twelve males and twelve females sharing soul energy you create something more than human. This is what happened in the days of Jesus. He put together twelve apostles but each of the twelve apostles had a working partner that was also female. In the Bible it says a group of females followed them around. It doesn’t say what their place was. That’s about all The Bible says about it because in those days even if the enlightened apostles ran with females there’d be trouble. But after Jesus organized this He sent them out. They healed the sick and performed lots of miracles, just like He was able to do. But then, after Judas betrayed them and Judas left, no miracle happened outside the resurrection. There were no miracles at all.

Then they were instructed to add a twelfth member. They added Mathias and put him in the Molecule on the day of Pentecost. After he was added the disciples were having a meeting when all of a sudden there was the sound of a mighty wind and fire appeared over each of their heads. A huge crowd was attracted by the noise of the wind andcame and gathered outside. Peter went out to meet them as there was a big conference in Jerusalem. People from sixteen different nations were meeting there and they spoke sixteen different languages. Peter went to meet these people because they had heard this great sound and they came to the source of the sound. It was where the apostles were meeting. Peter went out and he talked to them. All the people from the sixteen different nations heard Peter speak in their own language. How could that happen? One minute the apostles were normal men, but when they added the twelfth member of the molecule, all of a sudden miracles started happening, just like what had happened when Jesus was on the earth.

So Peter went to speak to them and each one of them heard Peter in their own language. After that miracles started happening regularly.

One of my favorites was when the religious leaders became concerned about Peter. The authorities put him in prison, they chained him by his hands and feet and surrounded him with sixteen guards. The authorities must’ve had the idea that Peter could escape somehow.

The scriptures then tell us that the guards fell asleep and Peter rose up; the chains dropped from his hands and his feet, and he walked through the wall. Peter appeared to his fellow Christians, who were having a meeting and he began talking and teaching them. The religious leaders were really upset that Peter escaped like that.

There were a lot of miracles that happened after the molecular relationship was established but for it to work the people involved in the molecule had to be specific numbers. Just like creating molecule of water takes two atoms of hydrogen and one of oxygen. You cannot have three hydrogen and one oxygen, you cannot have four oxygen and two hydrogen. You need a specific number. When you get that specific number you no longer have hydrogen and oxygen which, when separate, make rocket fuel, but put together make a stable molecule called water which is totally different.

The hydrogen and oxygen are still there. They still exist as entities. When the molecular relationship is created certain numbers of people with soul contact gather together and the specific numbers produce specific results and will alter the people into something more than human.

It can only be accomplished if it isn’t for personal gain. If a person seeks to create it for personal reasons will fail. It has to be done to serve mankind. Only by serving humanity can true spiritual molecules be created.

Even after they were created, the apostles had a lot of difficult times keeping the harmony. We don’t want to go too much into that because we’ve covered quite a bit of that previously.

One thing I was requested to cover was some new material this time. We have a number of people in the group who are interested in the Alice A. Bailey writings. How many here have read Alice A.
