Loving Relationships, Part 5

Loving Relationships, Part 5
The Point of Tension

JJ: I’m going to surprise a lot of people today because I bet there are a lot of people out there who do not know how to have a loving relationship. On the other hand, it might be a disappointment because they really don’t seem that interested in loving relationships, especially when you hear them talk about their spouses as old man, old lady, son of a bitch etc. People don’t seem to put a lot of energy into really loving their spouse.

Audience: “Were you aware that Eckankar was on Saturday night?”

JJ: Are you aware of the topic he spoke on? At least it’s not competing with a loving relationship. We’re going to talk about this book (A Course in Miracles) for just a short period of time tonight. If you’re going to take any course in a decent loving relationship, this is the book. Why is this Artie? What does this have to do with a loving relationship?

Artie: “It talks about putting your ego aside and communicating soul to soul. This is what you need to do in a loving relationship.”

JJ: Why is communicating soul to soul so important in a loving relationship?

Artie: “Because a person is divine when you look at their soul.”

JJ: And how is a person divine?

Artie: “In reality this person is divine, this person is God, the person is light, love, power.”

JJ: If you hate a person or dislike a person, according to the Course in Miracles, are you hating something that is real or not real?

Artie: “You’re seeing their personality and their personality is not real.”

JJ: Okay, so they hate something that isn’t real. Whenever you dislike somebody or have a fight with your spouse, either one or both of you are angry over something that does not really exist. Is everyone thoroughly confused? So, if we’re angry over what is not, what is? Therefore, is you see the real thing within the person, what do you see?

Audience: “You see love.”

JJ: What do you feel?

Audience: “You feel love.”

JJ: Look at Mike here and look at his soul. What do you see?

Audience: “Love!”

JJ: That’s right. Anybody that you look at and look beyond that which is not real, you will see love. Really, to produce a loving relationship, that is all there is to it. Learn that one principle and you’ll never have arguments. You may have a debate but you will never have hurt feelings again. For the rest of your life, you will never be hurt, as long as you see what is real. Whenever you dislike somebody and have a feeling or grudge against them, you are feeling a dislike for something that does not even exist. It’s unbelievable, isn’t it?

Audience: “And it’s a reflection, what you dislike in others is what you dislike in yourself. You’re projecting that trait of the personality on the other.”

JJ: I’ve followed a number of people throughout my life. I’ve watched my friends and listen to their truisms. Then as I watch them get older I find that what they criticized others for being, they become themselves. One friend of mine wouldn’t go out with any girl who was even a couple pounds overweight. He kept criticizing anyone who was overweight and now this person is overweight. It’s not me, by the way. (Laughter) I ran into a person about a week ago who was always 145 pounds and now is about 180.

Audience: “Don’t criticize it or you’ll put some on too.”

JJ: What we see in others is really a reflection of ourselves because who created the world that we are in? We create our world. You’re here right now because this is part of your creation.

Audience: “Do you mean we create our own reality and agree to it?”

JJ: You chose to come to this meeting. You didn’t necessarily create me but you were helping in creating the situation that you are in where I am present. So you have come to this meeting and you have helped create the atmosphere.

Here we are approaching the soul and seeking to dispel the illusions obstructing it. The Course in Miracles doesn’t talk about if there are veils or illusions. The Course tries to get you through all the veils in one giant step. The whole course is designed to get you there. The problem is that many think they’re already there. I can hardly find anybody who doesn’t think they’re centered right in the soul.

Religious people  tell us that Jesus is right there in the their heart. The Born Againers might think they’re seeing Jesus face to face. Rebirth has become a new age word and born again produces a very similar experience. The experience is very much the same but we have these illusions we have to get through to get to the soul. This is a very important principle.

The average man has not broken through any of them. The average person has not been born again, has not had that rebirth, and has not had any particular spiritual experience in his life. Then he begins to get a little bit more evolved than the average and begins to think there has to be more than just drinking, getting married, making a living, etc. He begins to look and he reaches a crisis point that’s called the point of tension.

You cannot break through one of these veils unless you create a point of tension. The point of tension is created by an inflow of energy over a period of time. These veils of illusion have to be broken through by creating this point. On the surface of water, we have a tension on the water itself. You cannot even penetrate water itself unless you penetrate that tension. You can put a steel needle on top of the water and it will float because of the tension of the water. Once it breaks through it will sink. Has everybody tried that experiment of floating a needle on water? Does everybody believe you can do it?

So this is like the point of tension of water. It takes a force to break through. The force is created by the old mantra, which is energy follows thought.

You have to begin to think. Think about your purpose. The average man will start to think, “I’m not forgiven for my sins, I’ve done a lot of naughty things in my life, maybe I should repent and ask Jesus inside my heart.” He starts thinking. He thinks about this stuff and he thinks and he thinks and he thinks until finally the point of tension is reached. When you pull a rubber band so far and you create the point of tension, it will snap. This is what happens. He creates enough tension until the point of tension is reached and all of a sudden, the barrier of illusion is broken through. When it’s broken he finds a surge of new energy that he never felt before because he went from one energy level into another energy level, closer to the soul.

The man gets Jesus in his heart and boy, does it feel good. He has found his goal. Then he goes around the rest of his life with a bumper sticker that says “I found it”. He found this energy right here and it feels really great. It’s nice and warm and now he’s been born again and he’s saved and he’s going to go live with Jesus in the next world and all this stuff.

What he doesn’t realize is that he’s confounded. All he’s done is to transfer from one energy level to another. So here he is walking around in this new energy level and he really feels good. He really feels great and he thinks he found it, but this is his problem. Because he thinks he found it, the desire to advance not with him anymore.

He does not look anymore for a number of lifetimes. Not only one lifetime but sometimes there are many times he will think he has found it. Then in a certain lifetime he will create another point of tension and go through it again. He keeps finding this energy level here. He keeps finding that and thinking that is it. In so many of his past lives he’s thought this is it. Is it? He thinks he’s found it but he hasn’t. Then after a while he begins to get frustrated because finding it hasn’t really completely satisfied him.

After he spends a number of lifetimes having found it he finds out that he hasn’t found it. Then he starts to look again. He begins to look again and begins to think. Instead of just emotionally this time with feeling, he begins to think and open up his mind. Once his mind opens up, he finds a computer programmer in there that’s asleep.

When this computer programmer wakes up, then he goes into the next level. He has a higher inflow of spiritual energy. People will go on a mission and say I found it and the born-again Christian will say I found it but he will really begin to find something greater than the born-again Christian. He’ll try to explain it to them and the born-again Christian will say, ‘yes, I feel that.’ He will say I have found a higher energy level but the born-again Christian will say, “I have found the highest, Jesus”. If you think you found the highest, then we found the same thing. So they’ll argue back and forth. This guy will try to explain it to his fellow born-againers, the higher energy level he’s found. They will just think he’s where they are because there’s nothing higher than the person who’s found Jesus. So this man will be somewhat frustrated for the higher you get up here the more alone you are because there’s fewer people to share it with.

Loving Relationships, Part 4

Loving Relationships, Part 4
Honest Communication

Audience: “You give examples but I’m talking about a wife who cackles and a guy who snores. They’re not forcing each other to look at the soul. They’re just saying hey you’re really irritating me with your habit. They bicker back and forth. How are they forcing soul contact?”

JJ: You’re talking about a habit like snoring that you can’t do anything about. Even so, if the snoring bothers you it is best to communicate your feelings on it while ceasing to blame him as if he is irritating you on purpose. With something like this you can look upon it as a mutual problem and look for the best solution available.

Then there are other things that you can do something about. If the food is bad you don’t need to say anything unless you need to clear your feelings. Maybe the eggs were burned 10 times in a row and you know the person can do better and should be told. Express your feelings. Don’t react but tell how you feel. That’s the important thing. Being honest isn’t going out and criticizing everybody. It’s means relating how you feel when the need is there.

“It makes me feel bad that I know you can cook a lot better than this and you don’t. It makes me feel that you don’t really care how you feel about me.” This is demanding a response. She thinks, do I care about him or not? If I do care about him let’s see what I can do about this. She’s following her soul. If she’s not, she thinks I’m glad you don’t like it. I’m glad you’re choking on that piece of meat. You deserve it. You didn’t fix the sink yesterday when I told you to, so you deserve this. So subconsciously she didn’t fix good food because of her feelings which now come out.

Then when you get the feelings out in the open you end up making love an hour or two later. It’s all out and everything is better. But getting out the things from the hurt feelings in the important thing.

Remember, don’t criticize but share your feelings. That will help the other person share his feelings. Sharing feelings honestly demands a response from either the soul or the personality. The person you share your feelings with has to decide on whether to go by one or the other. So it does demand a response, always. The person will either respond from the personality of the soul. If he responds from the soul the damage goes back and forth like a ball. The ball bounces this high once, then this high then pretty soon it doesn’t bounce anymore. This is what the negative energy does when the response is from soul. It bounces back and forth until the negative energy is now gone. Then you’ll feel great.

Did you ever notice in personality relationships that if you don’t have a good fight every now that it kind of stagnates? Then you have a really good fight and let out all the energies of the hurt feelings and you feel really great afterwards. When all the hurt feelings get out and they are shared by the energy of the soul and they’re responded to on the soul level, then there will be peace. Until eventually you won’t have any more problems. Eventually you will be in a state of peace.

Audience: “If you had been doing the no denial and no deception in the first place none of this would happen.”

JJ: You’re right.

Audience: “I think you’re painting a clear picture on the idea but I don’t think everyone has those same responses you’ve been describing.”

JJ: Not everybody tries to respond from the soul.

Audience: “That’s not what I’m referring to. I’m referring to the occasional fight to clear the air. That’s not what everybody would do or want to do. That’s not the only way to clear the air.”

JJ: You don’t have to have an occasional fight if the two people consistently respond from the soul level. Sometimes a fight will stimulate a response from the soul level if you reach a point of tension where they say I don’t like this at all and reach for the soul.

Audience: “Sometimes we say things that the other person never needed to hear and that stays with you forever if you say something in anger that you shouldn’t have said.”

JJ: When you show your feelings you shouldn’t be doing it in anger, but you are right we need to avoid insults that cause long lasting emotional harm. I’m not teaching anger here, I’m teaching non-denial. If you have hurt feelings you shouldn’t share them with anger.

Audience: “You said if you blow up and have a fight.”

JJ: I’m not saying you’re supposed to blow up and have a fight. I’m saying having the fight and releasing the feelings is better than not releasing them at all. At least they’re released. I’m not teaching that you’re supposed to go out and have a fight. Having the fight at least brings out the feelings so you understand that the other person was hurt. You have to understand that the other person was hurt.

If you are hurt, you have to decide how you are going to release it. You can say, I am hurt but you just had a rotten day and you don’t understand so I’ll tell you about it. Then you respond and it’s over. If I feel bad and don’t tell you then the next time you come to me I’ll still have those feelings. If we feel something it has to be communicated for what it is. If we pretend all is well it’s a deception and deception leads us further into illusion so we cannot communicate soul to soul.

Loving Relationships, Part 3

Loving Relationships, Part 3
Using the Lion Principle

Question: “Just wondering. How do one stop sending energy? There’s this girl I cannot get over and I prefer not to send her energy anymore since we can not be together. How do I stop?”

JJ: If the valves allowing the flow of romantic love energy are turned on it is difficult indeed to just snap your fingers and turn them off. It helps a lot when one of the parties turns the energy in a different direction. When this happens the main thing that is left is the pull of astral love with no interplay. Interplay, when both parties are sending and receiving energy, is particularly powerful.

The most powerful diversion is another romantic interest. If you wish to end a relationship that still has a lot of pull on you just aggressively look for someone else. The minute you send to another the pull from the first will greatly diminish and no longer be painful.

But suppose you can’t find a replacement. What then? In that case make some goals at self-improvement and plunge into them. This will take your attention off the lost love and focus it elsewhere. Remember energy follows thought.

Question: Shouldn’t you eventually receive love back if you send it out, even if the relations hip has ended?

JJ: Love evokes love and hate evokes hate but not necessarily as a linear reaction.

For instance, Jesus turned the other cheek and loved those who hated him and what happened? They hated him even more and crucified him and persecuted his followers afterwards. Even so, his example has drawn forth untold quantities of love over the centuries.

Many spiritual teachers have been hated and reviled yet hate did not evoke hate from them, but love.

On the other hand, when love and hate are cast into the great spiritual Internet those energies are returned to the sender in some way, and with interest.

When you send love toward a person who has rejected the soul energy of love it confronts him as a strange alien vibration that he doesn’t like. Instead of sending love back he is likely to send hate instead.

To see the soul in another does not mean that you actively send the person love. This must be done with judgment if done at all. When you see the soul in another you see his source and it may be a source that he has totally rejected. Even so, it is the duty of the disciple to see the perfection of the soul in all people but only send love as directed by your own soul. One must be aware of personality problems and avoid danger in relationships as served by common sense.

One must use the Lion Principle in dealing with difficult people. When you visit a lion in a zoo you may realize that, if nor for the cage, he would eat you. Because you are safe you can look upon the majestic beast and see in his soul the glory of God manifested in this life. Does that mean you should break into his cage and give him a hug? Of course not. Wisdom dictates that you appreciate him from a distance.

If you get too close to the lion and he bites your arm, should you then hate him for the rest of your life?

No. You should not hate the lion any more if he bites you than if he does not, for that is his nature whether you are careless enough to get bitten or not.

The difficult people in our lives are like lions that we should see as divine creations but from whom we protect ourselves by keeping a safe distance. We must not give them too much attention, or wrong attention, or they could turn on us.

Audience: “You’re saying turn the other cheek but a few minutes ago you were talking about the fundamentalists who said turn the other cheek and said it was wrong, it seems like a contradiction.”

JJ: I never said to turn the other cheek was wrong. Denial of the feelings is always wrong.

Audience: “When you really feel the love there’s no denying it.”

JJ: We need to escape the denial before we can find the love. If for instance, you feel hate toward somebody, but you say, “I’m a good Christian or I’m a good synthesizer. How can I hate someone? I know I’m highly evolved therefore I must not feel hate. Therefore, I do not feel hate. I feel perfect love all the time.” He keeps saying this mantra over and over, “I feel love because I’m highly evolved.”

He gets himself convinced. He gets himself so convinced and in such a state of denial that he is in an illusionary state of love. It’s not real love but a false love. It doesn’t have the feeling behind it. He forgets what the real feeling is.

So he is in this outer veil of illusion now. He’s in a state of what he thinks is love but it’s a deceptive state, which is covering up a bunch of hate. So how does he find the true love? He has to go backwards. He has to retrace his steps and find the deception and admit how he feels. I admit that I feel that I hate so and so. I really felt bad towards him. I really do. I admit it to myself.

You finally have to admit it to yourself and be honest. The energy of Christ is never deceptive. When you read about His life, He did not practice deception even if He laid His life on the line. When He walked into the Temple, He felt angry they were desecrating it. Did He say, “I’m the Christ, the greatest example of love so therefore I will just love these guys even though they’re desecrating it all. I’ll still love them.” He admitted it. He admitted to Himself that He was angry. He said I hate this, this is terrible. I’m going to do something about it. So He made a whip and chased them all out.

Audience: “But He didn’t hate them necessarily.”

JJ: No, but He was angry. He fulfilled the scripture that the evil In his Father’s house could eat him up and He was eaten up with that feeling of anger toward what they were doing. But anger is a divine reflection of love. Anger is produced through the frustration of acquiring that, which is love. He desired very strongly that people reverenced His Father and they were not doing that so He was frustrated. It produces a natural anger. It does that in everyone. He was honest. He expressed it then He was at peace. He did His duty, he expressed it and He let others know, then it was over.

If He didn’t do that He wouldn’t have been able to be the Christ if He hadn’t admitted that He was angry. If you are angry, admit it. One shouldn’t think, “I’m so evolved that I can’t get angry.” We must recognize what we feel. This takes us the next step up. Then when we recognize it we can deal with it. By telling the offender about it, it becomes his responsibility.

If he accepts it wrongly, he’ll feel bad. If he accepts it rightly, he’ll say, “I didn’t mean to make you feel that way, what can we do to fix this situation?” If we talk about it and create a solution and all of a sudden the burden is lifted. Now we both feel good. We have both restored our communication. Now, even with my friend Wayne we can look on our souls. We can look on each other’s souls and be uplifted. This denial that leads to deception is the big problem that keeps us from soul contact. Whatever we desire, if you feel like raping the Bishop’s wife, admit it to yourself. No matter how weird it is, admit that you feel like doing it.

Audience: “Do you have to admit these things to yourself or to the other? Sometimes you can be too honest.”

JJ: You probably do not want to tell the Bishop or his wife but you do want to admit it to yourself and be honest with the feelings you do reveal.

For instance, let’s say I feel angry with Wayne and just admitting it to myself is enough. Let’s say I feel angry with Wayne, I admit it to myself but the negativity hasn’t lifted yet. I’m still angry. What can I do now? There’s only one solution.

Audience: “Bop him on the nose!”

JJ: That’s right. I could bop him on the nose to communicate to him that I’m angry with him. He gets the message. But that’s a destructive way to do it. But it’s better to do it that way then not do it at all. It’s better to bop him on the nose than to keep it to myself.

There is a better way to do it. I can go to him in a spirit of love and even though I’m angry with him I can still see the Christ within him. I know that Christ can be restored. So let’s restore it. I can say, “Wayne I’m angry with you.” We can discuss it and restore it.

If he responds bitterly, I got it off my chest and if he wants to feel bad about it that’s his choice. Actually, I’d feel guilty because he can’t handle that. So I let him have it. But if he does handle it we restore soul contact and he can look at my soul and I can look at his. But if he doesn’t handle it well I can still look at his. I can now look beyond personality.

Audience: “I think when you do that though you need to ask him if he’s willing to let it pass. Lots of people do a lot of things and just want to let it pass.

“I could go to Wayne and say this is how I feel. These are my feelings. I’m not saying you’re a jerk. If you don’t want to change, if you’d do this and this and this you’d be a decent person. I tell him how I feel.”

JJ: Right, tell him how you feel. That’s important. What if you tell him how you feel and he takes it incorrectly? Sometimes no matter how nice you are in telling him how you feel he might still be hurt. If he takes it correctly or takes it incorrectly, you still tried.

Audience: “The very method you chose to present our anger is one way of using tact.”

JJ: I’ll get back to that. We do want to use tact but I was advising to see what you’re doing with the person. You’re forcing him to look at his faults. If they don’t want to look at their faults, it doesn’t matter how tactful you are. If they’re not ready, they won’t hear.

All improvement comes from energy of the soul. If you’ve done something to hurt me that means that maybe you have some fault in the personality that did that to me. So, if I come to you and say that hurt my feelings, I’m forcing you to look at your soul and admit something is wrong with what you did. If you contact the soul you’ll feel sort of bad that you hurt the other guy’s feelings.

But if you don’t contact the soul, you won’t feel bad at all. You’ll think he deserves it. Really what I’m doing is forcing you to look at your soul. If you don’t want to look at your soul and get the message then you don’t make contact and then you’ll think the guy deserves to feel bad. But if you look at your soul you will feel that energy saying, do something about this. Me sharing my feelings with you is calling forth a response, a decision to go by the soul or go by the personality. It’s forcing you to decide to go one way or another.

Loving Relationships, Part 2

Loving Relationships, Part 2
Overlooking the Personality

Audience: “It seems to be either my understanding is off or is there a big dimension missing here? Given, everybody has a soul and any two people could fall in love. That part doesn’t make sense to me. You could hitch a Clydesdale and a Shetland together and they may like to rub noses but they’ll never get any work done. (Laughter) There are enough people and differences between people that the numbers of people that would be a good partner for you are greatly reduced.”

JJ: I didn’t say anyone could be a good partner for you. I said you could fall in love with any person. A person doesn’t have to be a good partner for you to fall in love with him or her.

Audience: “That’s what I was asking, do you have to clear it with the mind before you get to the soul?”

JJ: No, you have to control it with the mind. If, for instance, let’s say Kathy isn’t very good looking. You wouldn’t normally fall in love so you do an experiment. How is love created? Sending energy to the person and getting the energy returned creates romantic love. So it doesn’t matter what she looks like or whether you like her or not. The question is whether your mind is in charge. If your mind is in charge of the energy, you have power to send it. How is your mind in charge of energy? If you decide it is. That’s all you have to do. I just have to decide that my mind is in charge of the energy that I send out and collect.

So though Kathy is kind of a frump, I send her the energy, and by George, she’s really flattered. I’m the first guy who’s ever done this to her. She sends energy back and you’re in control. Your mind is in perfect change. You realize she isn’t that good looking but you get this energy back that you sent. So you sit back and bask in it a little bit. Feel it, it feels just like it does from the good-looking girl. There’s really no difference if the form is bypassed. Your mind is in charge so you have the power to send and receive to any person. The reason most people don’t send to Kathy is because they think she’s a frump so they ignore her. But you are a rare person who has a mind in charge so you can decide to do whatever it is you want to do.

Audience: “Maybe we’re isolated on an island, just the two of us, me and Kathy Frump.

“So are the differences in people just in the personality?”

JJ: What do you mean?

Audience: “Well there are so many differences between one person and another but they can see eye to eye on stuff so is the difference just in the personality?”

JJ: The differences are in the personality. Because the personality is difficult to overlook, you want to find a personality that’s as pleasing as possible, but the point is that it doesn’t matter how difficult the personality is, if you can overlook it, you can share love energy. That’s all there is to it, just overlooking the personality.

Now because a person may understand that any two people can fall in love this doesn’t mean love will come easy to Kathy. Even enlightened people are attracted to beauty and will choose beauty over plainness. Kathy will have to work harder to let her inner beauty shine so she can draw someone who will look beyond the form to her soul.

The thing is, even though the person is an animal when you first meet him, sooner or later you’re going to have to overlook the personality because the personality always shows up as being different than your own. They have different habits; they want different things. Sooner or later you will have to overlook the personality if you want the relationship. If you do what will happen? The love energy you felt when you first fell in love will be there year after year after year.

Then it will be life after life after life and that love energy will never go away. It’s that simple. Just by overlooking the personality.

You’d be talking about personality there because in our souls we’re all linked to Divine energy and love. Though our personalities are different, a complementary part of someone else’s personality can attract you. A similar part will also attract each other. For instance, if one person was a writer and writes everything in long hand and his wife has a word processor and can type it all out for him – this creates a complementary aspect of the personality that will help things run smoothly. It should be a basis of soul to soul contact. Even if his wife can’t help him with typing, he should still be able to look at the soul, looking beyond the personality into the soul. It’s very easy to preach but hard to do.

Audience: “I think it’s hard to find two people who are interested in reaching the soul.”

JJ: To reach the soul the first thing you need to accept this word: forgiveness. You must forgive because we hurt each other’s feelings often. We must forgive and work through our denials. What clouds the soul is denial. It’s very, very easy to deny. When you’re in a relationship and you hurt somebody’s feelings or somebody hurts your feelings, you think well that kind of bothered me but if I bring it up it will create a fight so I’m going to pretend that I’m happy. I’m going to pretend that it didn’t bother me. What are you doing? You’re deceiving.

In deception you create a cloud to the soul. You cloud the soul and you go through a deception and if your soul is clouded it makes the personality more obvious to the one that you love. You can now reveal the personality much easier because you’re not revealing your soul to her. You’re covering your soul up with a deception. It seems to honest and seems like you’re doing such a good thing to make the peace by saying that doesn’t bother me. You go through this process of covering it up and pretending that you don’t feel what you do feel. You’re lying when you do this.

Many teach that it’s great when you do this, it’s great when you’re being a martyr and covering up all your feelings. Really what we’re doing is we’re covering up the soul so the personality is more obvious, and it’s hard for your mate to see the soul and it’s hard for you to see the soul because you let your personality show and she’s seeing it.

Audience: “It’s not the soul that’s angry, it’s the personality.”

JJ: Right the personality is angry as an illusion. We’re in illusion whenever we get angry. We’re angry at something that is not. So the first thing we have to do is look within ourselves and see what are the key thoughts, what are the key thoughts of God. Look within and find the thoughts of God. When we find those thoughts, we find ourselves in a state of perfect peace, the peace that passes all understanding. In that state of peace, it is impossible to deceive. In that state where it’s impossible to deceive we then see the Christ in the other person. The Course of Miracles gives a really good exercise. It tells us to pick out the person in our life, you know who he is, that irritates you and bothers you more than any other person. Everybody has that one person. Then go through a realization and realize that this person is your savior. When you can see God in that person, when you can see this person’s soul, and establish soul to soul communication with this person, and not be mad no matter what his reaction is to you, you’re saved. You’re saved because if you take that person who irritates you the most and if you can love him, then nothing can take away your love. You are saved therefore he’s your savior. That’s basically what salvation is.

Audience: “So you don’t change him.”

JJ: Right, you don’t change him, you just accept him. See the God in him, whether he be Hitler or Nero or Ronald Reagan or whoever he may be.

Audience: “Okay so you accept him and he makes you mad, do you tell him that he makes you mad?”

JJ: Sure. You always use total honesty.

Audience: “Does he take that as love when you do that?”

JJ: Probably not but what you feel is what is important, not him. He can hate you, he can jump up and down, he can scream.

Audience: “But he’s going to feel more hate back to you for doing that.”

JJ: It doesn’t matter. If you are in a state where you are centered in the soul, you will only feel love towards him. No matter what he does, you will not let his reaction determine your peace.

Audience: “People have gotten killed or persecuted by loving their enemies.”

JJ: Yes, Jesus preached forgiveness and love, but they still crucified him, but even on the cross he looked beyond the personality and said, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.”

You do not have to place yourself in a torturous relationship with your irritating “savior.” This irritating person in your life will take care of that. You just have to filter out his negativity and look upon the soul while staying out of his way as much as possible.

If you’ve had a good time playing the game, you’re a winner even if you lose. – Malcolm Forbes

Loving Relationships, Part 1

Loving Relationships, Part 1

The following is the text to a presentation I gave some years ago.

JJ: We’re going to have a class on how to manifest love. Once we manifest this love, we won’t have to think about solving any problems, they will just automatically take care of themselves. The person, who is in the wrong, when love is contacted, will automatically begin to retract, apologize and see where they’re wrong.

When love is contacted, illusion is dispelled, and if both parties are in the wrong, both of them will begin to retract and be centered correctly. If one of them is in the wrong, then the one in the wrong will begin to feel that they did something wrong and make amends and the relationship will automatically get back on track. You won’t have to read some big manual or go to a marriage counselor or do anything, it will just happen automatically.

Think of the time, sometime, that you fell in love with someone. When you fall in love with another person, what happens is you look beyond personality. Why are you able to look beyond personality when you first meet somebody who is good looking, has a lot of animal magnetism and a picture-perfect face? Why are you able to look beyond the personality?

Audience: “Because you project your own expectations on them.”

“Because they hide their true personality from you.”

JJ: That’s true, sometimes they do hide it from you but they hide it good enough that you look beyond the personality, and even though the person may be loathed, even though everybody that knows him really hates him someone new may be able to look upon his soul if they do not have the baggage of negativity in their memory.

When you first meet someone who’s really stimulating, you look beyond personality and what happens? You begin to fall in love. It feels really great. Why does it feel so good?

Audience: “You’re blind!”

JJ: You’re blind to the personality. You’re overlooking the personality. You think, “Boy, are we in love and does it feel great! We’re in seventh heaven.”

Audience: “My theory on that is you overlook the personality because you know nothing about that person and have nothing to lose and nothing to gain and you’re perfectly free to look for the best in them.”

JJ: Right, that’s what you do. You look for the best in them. You don’t see anything bad. You don’t see anything but the soul. We’re all a reflection of the soul after all. You can see the soul when you look in their eyes and you feel so good. Then slowly you begin to find something bad about them, about their personality. You begin to find out that maybe the guy is a slob or maybe he doesn’t wash his shorts often enough or maybe he doesn’t comb his hair good enough or maybe he’s got zits or maybe he doesn’t have a hairy chest or maybe he does have a hairy chest! You find out a bunch of these little weird things about the guy or the gal. You don’t look in his eyes. You don’t look at his soul anymore but you’re looking at the chest, you’re looking at the hair or no hair, you’re looking at a tub of lard. You’re looking at the guy who cussed at you the other day or talked about you behind your back. You begin looking at the personality. When you’re looking at the personality, what don’t you see?

Audience: “The soul.”

JJ: Right, they don’t see the soul anymore then they become just a regular married couple. They’re a regular married couple that is seeing personality to personality with no more soul contact.

Audience: “The personality never satisfies so you could be married to a movie star and never be happy because of personalities.”

JJ: That’s right. You can be married to the president of the United States, a movie star or whatever. Divorce is high among movie stars. You’d think somebody would be enraptured by a movie star but they don’t stay that way because they begin to see the personality after a while. They don’t see the soul anymore, because they are seeing what is not real. Everything is an illusion. The personality never satisfies. This is important, the personality never satisfies. That’s why, if you’re falling in love with the personality, you’ll never be satisfied. You’ll never be happy as long as you’re trying to love the personality.

As long as you say, just get rid of this one final fault you have then I will love you with all my heart. The guy gets rid of the fault and she’s still looking at the personality and another fault appears. Just get a nose job then I will love you. So the guy gets a nose job and she says, now, just get me a new sports car. Then I will love you more. He gets her a new sports car and she’s still not satisfied. She’s never satisfied until one more thing when you’re dealing with the personality.

There’s always one more thing to acquire to get to the perfection. We’re always looking for one more thing with the personality. We have to look beyond the personality and see beyond it. Especially when we’re dealing with money, we really need to forget about the personality. But we need to look on the soul. Wayne is one of my best friends and I look at his soul.

It is possible for anybody in this room to fall in love with anybody else in this room, as long as they’re the sex they desire. You need the opposite polarity so the two opposites can unite and become one. Even gays who are the same sex will experience the polarities for one partner will be the overall sender and the other the receiver.

Audience: “But the soul is sexless.”

Audience: “Yeah, really the souls don’t have sexes.”

JJ: The creation of sex is a reflection of the soul. The union of the sexual polarities produces soul contact. The division in the dualities is what produces sexes and positive and negative and what produces the illusion. To escape the illusion, we have to have the unity. To produce the unity, we need the positive and negative uniting into one.

Now, looking beyond sex, any man in this room can love any woman in this room and any woman can love any man but not necessarily as a romantic love. It’ll be a spiritual love. A romantic love is a reflection of the higher. That’s why it’s a different type of energy. We have the soul love out here then below this we have the reflection of the soul love.

The soul love is in the soul. It’s three bodies, the astral body, the mental body or the mind and the physical body. On the intuitional level is pure spiritual love. Then we have the mind and below this is the astral. The astral is the reflection of the soul. A romantic love is the reflection of the soul love. It’s kind of backwards. Romantic love is possessive where soul love is not. Possessiveness is not bad, astral love is not bad, it’s a part of the world we live in and needs to be accepted and go with the energy flow. The important point to remember is that it’s a reflection and has different qualities and a lower vibration. The soul love is a much higher vibration and a higher octave. Romantic isn’t real, it’s a stepping stone to lead us to something higher.

Audience: “Are you saying that romantic love is a way of contacting the soul but we have a hard time accessing it because it’s of a lower vibration.”

JJ: It’s not hard, it’s very easy. That’s the weird thing about it. Creating soul love is extremely easy. The one thing needed is to look beyond the personality. The problem is that because of our mindsets we make it much more difficult than it should be. You can still have astral love but with the soul love you have to look beyond the personality. Now the astral love is a stepping stone to the soul love. This is the first love people feel as their going through their lifetimes. They will begin to fall in love with somebody long before they ever figure out soul love.

Audience: “It gets it in motion, love and contact?”

JJ: Right and they will make this contact and they will eventually realize there is something really great. Astral love leads us up to the higher love. People will feel this for many lifetimes before they feel the higher, but eventually they want more than just this astral love. They want soul love. You can feel that with anyone. This is the most important love. When you’re in the astral love and you also have the soul love, then you have the better of two worlds. That love energy will never go away. It will never disappear.

Audience: “I have one more question. Do you have to sneak the astral past the mind in order to be acceptable? I can experience astral love or soul love but it seems like a critical judgment if this is healthy for me to bring this relationship into the real world, if its life supporting or not.”

JJ: Energy follows thought. As long as a person is looking at the personality and using that as criteria for acceptance, it will snuff out the soul love in one degree or another. So we have to look for the soul love and decide when we’re going to accept the person in a relationship. Make the decision, am I going to accept this person or not? If you accept them, then look beyond the personality and go from there. If you don’t look beyond the personality then there’s going to be a problem. This happens by mentally or emotionally judging a person but the key is acceptance. Acceptance is such an easy key that we don’t recognize it oftentimes. We need to accept each other if we are to find soul love.

To look beyond the personality is to be blind to the personality. You check out these people who go from one relationship to another and they’re never satisfied. A lot of people do this. They will fall in love; they will look beyond the personality then they shift and look at the personality. The personality isn’t something they can love so they leave the guy and they go to the next person. They don’t know him very well so they can again look beyond the personality and feel that love. Then they discover their personality again and judge him by his personality and fall out of love and move on to the next person. People go through this series again and again and again. The key to this again, is to look beyond. Decide not to judge a person by their personality; sum him up as well as you can during the courtship period, then decide whether or not you’re going to accept the whole person. If you can accept, then look beyond the personality onto the soul.

Audience: “One more question. What if the person goes away? Then is it time to end that relationship?”

Audience: “Well it takes two people to do that. One person can’t do that without the other person doing it back.”

JJ: This is a good point. To create this soul love unity, you can’t do it with just one person. It takes two. It’s impossible with one. If Mike is in love with this lady and she is looking beyond the personality and she is looking at the soul then what will happen if she does not return the love? If she doesn’t return his love there’s no interchange. There’s no exchange of energies so pretty soon Mike will be drained of his energy to the point where he will stop sharing his energy and eventually, he will stop.

Unless a person is famous or something and he’s so magnetic that a fan is just a groupie, we have to have two. In looking for any relationship, that’s what you want to look for in the sharing and loving. If they won’t well, why create a relationship with just you? You’re really just having a relationship with you. You sending out love energy and that’s it. You need the love energy returned. If it’s not returned go find somebody who will return it.

When love and skill work together, expect a masterpiece. – John Ruskin

The Word

The Word

Question: Could you expand on the meaning of the “Word” as I have seen it used in several different contexts?

JJ: The first thing to understand is that a “Word” is more inclusive than as understood through the standard dictionary definition. This is illustrated by the fact that the Bible is often called “the Word of God,” even though it is composed of many words.

Notice from these quotes that the Word is more than one word and refers to a variety of things.

“When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it.” (Matt 13:19)

“And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.” (Mark 2:2)

“And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.” (Mark 4:33)

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1)

“He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.” (John 14:24)

Basically, the true meaning of a word is that it is a complete creation of some kind.

The Bible is a Word because it represents a great creative effort.

Jesus was “The Word” because he represented a complete human being.

A message that accomplishes a mission or purpose is also a word.

On the physical level our bodies are a word and thus can be healed by a word.

Visualize a piece of music. A note represents a word as is commonly understood. A chord represents a greater word, a stanza still greater, the complete melody greater still and the complete words and music a complete word.

Understanding the principle of the word is to understand the secret of creation.

Programming software provides insight. All computer functions are reduced to a simple binary of plus and minus or ones and zeros. As programming advanced these are brought together into groups of many sets of binaries until there are thousands and then millions. Today at the click of one key a programmer can incorporate the intelligence of thousands of binaries.

Therefore, to create a program the creator doesn’t laboriously program millions of binaries but only has to put a few composites together.

Even so it is with the word of creation. The disciple must not look upon the black and the white but should see the principle and then groups of principles. These are all words in the greater sense. The more complete the word that can be seen by the individual the greater the power to initiate and create a final product that will be the legacy.

In the greater sense an entire life of a person is a word. The seeker becomes a person of spiritual power when he sees himself as a word composed of not just the body, but of body, soul and spirit that is connected to all there is — the word that created the universe.

I was asked to comment on the two main political parties.

As we know there are two lines of political thinking that manifest in every country and every time frame. These two divisions are given the names liberal and/or conservative, left and/or right, progressive and/or traditional, etc.

Let us identify three positive qualities of both the Left and the Right.

The Left:

Creative.

Emotional empathy.

Idealistic.

The Right:

Logical.

Sense of morality.

Business sense.

Three negative qualities of each.

The Left:

Impulsive.

Yields too much to emotional influence

Authoritarian.

The Right:

Resists change.

Lacks empathy.

Lacks creativity.

Three problems they both share.

They do not understand each other.

Both misuse power.

Neither put the people first.

Which side does best during war and distress and which during peace and plenty? What’s the reason for this?

The Right, being centered in mind, usually have the most common-sense approach in times of war or distress. In times of peace and plenty the Left can use their creative nature to benefit society.

We go through cycles of dominance from each side. Which side is dominating now and by how much? When will the cycle change?

Both sides always think the other is dominating. One has to be dispassionate to see the real position.

We’ve been in a fairly left of center cycle for about 100 years. Within this cycle are smaller cycles of influence from the Right. We are approaching a time that the mental faculties from the Right will dominate but first we must pass through this time of emotional domination so the power of mind can demonstrate its correct place of power. This should assert itself over the next couple decades.

On another note, I have an insight the group should find useful.

I believe two of Hitler’s past lives in recent times were Napoleon Bonaparte and before that Charles XII of Sweden. One thing of interest is all three of these entities suffered from overwhelmingly cold winters in attacking Russia.

The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven. – John Milton

The Lost Symbol

The Lost Symbol

I’ve just finished reading, or should I say, listening to, Dan Brown’s latest book, “The Lost Symbol.” I believe he is an important author to follow since he caused so much controversy with “The DaVinci Code” by stepping on sacred cows.

The response to this book so far is interesting. As of this writing there have been 246 reviews on Amazon. Only 46 are 5 stars, 37 – 4 stars, 37 – 3 stars, 64 – 2 stars and 62 give one star.

In other words, over 50% more readers give it one or two stars than give it four or five. Sounds like Dan has a dud on his hands, doesn’t it?

I don’t think so. Believe me it will be a big seller for a while yet and I’m sure they’ll make another movie of it.

Here’s a brief synopsis from Amazon of how the story begins:

“As the story opens, Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned unexpectedly to deliver an evening lecture in the U.S. Capitol Building. Within minutes of his arrival, however, the night takes a bizarre turn. A disturbing object — artfully encoded with five symbols — is discovered in the Capitol Building. Langdon recognizes the object as an ancient invitation […] one meant to usher its recipient into a long-lost world of esoteric wisdom.

“When Langdon’s beloved mentor, Peter Solomon — a prominent Mason and philanthropist — is brutally kidnapped, Langdon realizes his only hope of saving Peter is to accept this mystical invitation and follow wherever it leads him. Langdon is instantly plunged into a clandestine world of Masonic secrets, hidden history, and never-before-seen locations — all of which seem to be dragging him toward a single, inconceivable truth.”

(End Quote)

One of the reasons the book received so many low ratings was that some of Brown’s writings are bound to offend a lot of people. The main thing that will stick in the craws of many is that he suggests that the Founding Fathers believed their destiny was to become Gods and he often quotes the scripture “Ye are Gods.”

He also points out that the God of the Bible is plural and represents many, and the Book of Revelation is really “The Unveiling” and not a literal prophecy. Where have the Keys members heard this?

Then he makes the startling observation that in the eye of the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol is a painting called “The Apotheosis of Washington.” This painting depicts Washington’s ascension to heaven similar to that of Jesus.

Most of the rest of the book centers around a quest to find the Lost Word of Power which can give man the power of the gods. They must prevent this word from falling into evil hands.

Overall I would say this book is of equal quality with “the DaVinci Code.” My favorite for pure entertainment is still “Angels and Demons.” I’m speaking of the book, which was better than the movie.

I think Dan Brown gives more teachings and history than he did in his other books. It kind of reminded me more of my approach to writing “The Immortal” than his other books did. For those who are only interested in a good story the history lessons may have seemed to be a distraction.

Not for me.

The information I gleaned from the book was the most valuable part to me. Not only does he supply a lot of good history and Masonic information but he gives a lot of details of landmarks in Washington DC. A lot of what he writes of could not have been obtained from just reading books, but I would guess that Brown spent a lot of time visiting, in person, a lot of sites in Washington DC and asked a lot of questions.

Overall, I would give the book four stars, but the controversy it will cause is worth five stars.

“To live in the world without becoming aware of the meaning of the world is like wandering about in a great library without touching the books.” From “The Lost Symbol,” by Dan Brown

NOTE: Dan Brown has a new book coming out in September 2025 called “The Secret of Secrets”)

Gathering Problems

Reader Comment: “So imagine through some miracle that the people of the United States managed to re-take control of our government and throw out the crooks in government. Do you think that the Gathering would then occur here? After all, if America really turned around and repented of all the evil in big government and allowed people to create a really productive society — the result of freedom and free trade — then there would be little motive for people to gather elsewhere, would there?”

JJ: Good question. You are correct in thinking that great tribulation or discomfort will motivate people to move in a different direction. Therefore, if there was some kind of breakdown people would be looking for a solution like never before. Those looking, however, would be the good and the bad, the ready and not so ready, the spiritual and the carnal. Therefore, to take advantage of a collapse quite a bit of preparation must be made in advance or you would have only the gathering of the troubled rather than the gathering of lights.

In many ways it would be more advantageous for our country, or several countries, to be reformed so reasonable government again prevails. If this were to happen then we would not have to gather in the seas but could build cities of light here upon the land.

And many still look for better things, even during good times. Remember the Sixties with the hippies and the communes? Many of those who gathered out of society had rich parents but they thought there was something better than materialism and went looking for it. I always thought that it seemed the flower children were looking for a real spiritual leader that just never showed up.

If we can indeed “Fix America” then a coming correspondence to the Sixties will come, but on a higher level with higher principles.

If America is not fixed then I pray that the Lights will have prepared for them a gathering place in time to escape the things to come.

I have not yet obtained power enough to issue a clarion call for gathering. I am working on it and hope to make some stronger moves in the future.

Popular Issues

A reader writes: “I don’t know where you stand on any of these issues, but here are some freedoms I’d be in favor of:

“1. All US military personnel should be free to consume alcohol responsibly when on leave regardless of local drinking age laws (in the USA at least). If a kid is old enough to die for his country, then he’s old enough to have a beer.”

JJ: Agree 100%.

“2. Freedom of adults to join in marriage unions as they see fit, without any outside authority dictating what does or does not constitute a marriage, and without threat of future annulment by legislative or judicial decree.”

JJ: I think gays as well as polygamists should be able to make commitments of marriage and have them respected and not be hassled over doing this. They should be free to introduce their partner(s) as their spouse. I do not see getting an actual certificate as being a freedom issue for if I couldn’t have one myself, I do not see much of a change that would happen. The liberals in the Sixties I think were closer to the truth when they said that a marriage certificate was just an unnecessary piece of paper.

“3. Legalization of marijuana. You might be able to talk me out of this, but my general impression is that marijuana is not significantly worse than alcohol or tobacco.”

JJ: I support the legalization of all drugs. In the past I have called this the Drano Principle. Drano is indeed harmful, but I do not think we need a law telling us we cannot drink it. Instead, we just need to educate people on what is harmful and what is not.

I also support channeling a good portion of the money from the war on drugs to education and rehabilitation.

Cigarettes are a good example of how this can work. When I was a kid most adults around me openly smoked inside and outside, even is restaurants, cars, busses and homes. Then an educational process began to show us how harmful they were and the media even tried to make it appear socially unacceptable to smoke. In 1955, when I was ten, a whopping 45% of the people smoked. Now in 2009 that figure has been reduced to around 20%, less than half of what it was. (Note: by 2022 the figure has dropped to 11.6%)

It has always been cool to be attracted to the forbidden and there is a real attraction to illegal drugs. But the statistics on cigarette smoking reveal that education on the negative effects plus making it socially unacceptable can produce more results than making something illegal.

“In times of universal deceit, telling the truth will be a revolutionary act.” – George Orwell, ‘1984’

Democracy – Part Two

Democracy – Part Two

Concerning my last post on Democracy a reader says: “The problem I have with this argument is that it seems to be saying that one cannot derive principles from less than pure or perfect examples. This is exactly the same argument that many Communists and Socialists use.”

JJ: This makes no sense as we have had every brand of communism by authoritarian rule be given ample power to prove themselves. 100% of the Soviet Union was under communist rule as well as China, North Korea, Cuba, Cambodia under Pol Pot, etc. The results of all have been similar, varying only by degrees.

The closest thing we have seen to a democracy was not a nation but the city-state of Athens with a population of about 250,000. Of this number only 30,000 were the elite citizens who had the right to vote. Of these only about 4000-5000 participated in the democratic process. This is why I call Athens a representative Democracy rather than a pure Democracy because the voting of the 5000 supposedly represented well-being of the whole. It matters not that the voters were not elected, the result of their vote created law and justice just as our elected representatives do today.

Thus Athens, which was far from a pure Democracy, was not anything close to matching the examples of communism in purity which forced every citizen to vote party line and totally controlled several nations.

Now, even though Athens was far from a pure democracy, it is probably the best example in history and instead of yielding tyranny and poverty there was more freedom there than in other parts of the world and more prosperity. The average wage was about three times that of those of foreign countries.

Nearby Sparta was ruled with a non democratic iron hand and consequently the lights and philosophers of the age lived in Athens. Ironically some of the intelligentsia, including Socrates, criticized the government of Athens and praised Sparta, but where did they choose to live? Athens. It reminds me of some in the USA who praise Cuba and Venezuela but prefer to live here even though they constantly criticize America.

The partial democracy of Athens did not lead to any tyranny of the majority, especially when considering the lower overall consciousness of that age. Instead, it led to a gathering of lights, prosperity and greater freedom. Yes, they had slaves, but so did the rest of the world at that time. But in Athens the slaves were much freer than some other places and even owned property.

There have been attempts at democracy by small groups of people but nothing close to a real working democracy, open to the whole of the populace, has ever surfaced in recorded history.

The United States, as a democratic elected representative republic, is probably the closest thing to it presently on the planet. The problem now is, as I pointed out earlier with my seven points, is that the will of the people is not represented.

Thomas Jefferson is often pointed out as being against democracy. To make their point this quote is often given out in argument:

“A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where 51 percent of the people may take away the rights of the other 49.”

The only problem is that Jefferson never said this. It is just one of those quotes in wide circulation that are falsely attributed.

The quote is not only untrue but it makes no sense. You only have two types of rule possible. The first is majority rule, or some type of democratic rule, and the second is minority rule which is accomplished through all kinds of authoritarian methods.

Currently we have a minority rule where the will of around 30% take away the rights of the other 70%. In other words when either Democrats or Republicans win, we have a situation where we are governed by about 30% of the far right or left. The 40% in between, as well as the 30% from the other side do not feel represented.

Where would you rather live? In a country where 30% of the people are represented or 51% or more?

I’d go for the 51% or more.

Here are a few quotes revealing what Jefferson really thought of democracy.

“The will of the people […] is the only legitimate foundation of any government, and to protect its free expression should be our first object.” (Thomas Jefferson to Benjamin Waring, 1801. [Memorial Edition] ME 10:236)

“The measures of the fair majority […] ought always to be respected.” (Thomas Jefferson to George Washington, 1792. ME 8:397)

“I subscribe to the principle, that the will of the majority honestly expressed should give law.” (Thomas Jefferson: The Anas, 1793. ME 1:332)

“Where the law of the majority ceases to be acknowledged, there government ends, the law of the strongest takes its place, and life and property are his who can take them.” (Thomas Jefferson to Annapolis Citizens, 1809. ME 16:337)

“This […] [is] a country where the will of the majority is the law, and ought to be the law.”

(Thomas Jefferson: Answers to de Meusnier Questions, 1786. ME 17:85)

All the ingredients safeguarding freedom could be placed in a constitution based on a democratic government, but an extremely important point to consider is that words alone, no matter how noble, will not protect us from tyranny.

The basic ingredients of the U.S. Constitution have been copied by many developing countries. It has been a help but in many cases a dictatorship still developed.

The bottom line is that to remain free a nation must have more than the words of freedom, but the thoughts of freedom. Without a consciousness that can accept freedom and responsibility we are doomed to slavery no matter what our founding document says.

We are presently in a condition where the principles of the Republic are not working well, but there is one bright spot. The majority of the people desire freedom and commonsense government much more than the representatives who govern us. Therefore, any shift of power to the majority of the people away from those merely interested in power will be a positive thing.

Now here is another important point. Even though a purer democracy would be an improvement on what we have now, it is not the highest form of government. The highest form, I believe, is The Molecular Relationship.

Government in The Molecular Relationship is a lot like the government of our Republic, but with one main difference. It has the principle of correction more inherently built into it. Without the principle of correction any government, no matter how virtuous, will eventually become corrupt and be overthrown.

Look at history. All governments, good and bad, come and go. After a couple hundred years corruption usually sets in and this is eventually followed by a revolution. A revolution produces change but half the time the change is positive and the other half things are much worse. For instance, the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia was expected by the people to bring them more freedom, but they were sadly disappointed by the tight controlling grip of Communism.

Government by the Molecular Relationship is too large of a leap to introduce to the country at this time. It will most likely evolve through small groups and eventually be accepted by larger groups and eventually nations. Even with this system, containing a built-in correction mechanism, there exists the possibility of tyranny. A strong leader could intimidate the members to the extent that people could be afraid to challenge him when he goes astray.

The bottom line is that only the consciousness of freedom can ensure that freedom is perpetuated.

Democracy – Part One

Democracy – Part One

A reader disagrees with my views on democracy and says this: “So likewise, one might see pure Democracy as the most fair and equitable approach to government (a 20 second thrill ride). But history has proven time and again that the idea inevitably ends in totalitarianism (certain death) because pure majority rule must have an overpowering enforcement agency to ensure compliance to the will of the majority.”

I’m not sure where you are coming from here as I know of no example in history where this has happened. For one thing we have never in history had a true democracy so no one can say with a sure knowledge as to what the result would be. In addition to this both good and bad governments come and go and are replaced sometimes by good government and sometimes bad. The replacement of a government is a bit of a crap shoot.

Now some say the ancient Greeks had a couple democracies, but when you examine them, they were more like representative government than democracy.

The reason is that the voting government only consisted of the upper class as their votes represented the good of the whole state, not that much different than our political class that claim to represent us.

The Founding Fathers could not seriously consider a pure democracy because the necessary technology to take polls let alone tabulate the vote of the masses on issues was not available. What they wound up creating was the closest thing to a democracy that was possible. Representatives were selected by a democratic vote and the electors who determine the President were selected through the Democratic process. The senators at that time were determined by the democratic vote of state legislators who in turn were democratically voted in.

Our government, I believe has been the best on the planet, but it does have its flaws and subject to improvement. Its inherit flaws have grown like bad seed and no workable corrective mechanism has been in place to set things right.

The founders thought they had three corrective mechanisms in place:

Checks and balances between the three branches of government.

This has helped prevent tyranny and extremism, but is far from perfect.

The vote of the people.

Unfortunately, the politicians fool the people and over 90% of incumbents get reelected.

The jury.

The final judge of law was to be the jury of the people, but this has been corrupted, as the people in a jury do not understand their power and duped into believing they must please the judge. A jury has power to nullify bad law, but who is aware of this?

At the present time most people from both sides of the isle would agree that our Republic is not working well. In theory the people are supposed to be represented by Congress but in reality we are not. In my treatise, Molecular Politics I give a number of reasons for this:

Polls.

We have already illustrated how polls are manipulated to appear as if they represent the will of the people when sometimes they do not. If the politician votes according to the polls his real voters will often be frustrated.

Political groups, action committees and all those with a political agenda who contribute a significant amount of money or influence to help the candidate get elected.

When this occurs the candidate incurs the well-known political debt that he must repay while in office or incur the wrath of those who put him there. If he refuses to vote in a way that pleases these powerful ones then they will work against him in the next election.

Is the will of the people represented when the politician votes the will of the few powerful ones who financed him?

No. Of course not.

The third obstacle that interferes with the will of the people are special interest groups and large corporations who spend many millions in lobbying politicians so they will vote and legislate according to their will.

These lobbyists will visit the legislator on as regular basis as possible and lay their cause and wishes before him. They will also throw parties, wine and dine, and arrange field trips in the Bahamas and other exotic locations so the legislator can become better informed of certain problems. They also help to arrange for fund raising contacts to help assure reelection.

Now let us say it is time to vote for “Project X.” The majority of the people are against it and a few have written letters about it, but they have not captured the Congressman’s attention nearly as much as the constant influence and “assistance” of the lobbyist. When it comes time to vote, he votes “yes” because the pressure, the gifts, the parties, the free vacation are very fresh in his mind.

So when the politician votes the will of the special interest group is he truly representing the will of the majority of the people he claims to represent? In many cases the answer is a resounding “no!”

Another common way that the people are not represented is through the trading of votes.

How does this happen? Here is an example: Let us say, for instance that the Senator from Arkansas wants a grant for research into chicken feathers and the Senator from Idaho wants money for research into the control of the rabbit population. Now neither of these projects have enough support to pass, but each one of these guys would be a big hero in his home state if he could bring home the big bucks so here’s what they do. The Senator from Idaho approaches the senator from Arkansas and says. I don’t really care about your feather research project in Arkansas, but I desperately need to get my rabbit project passed so I’ll tell you what. You vote for my project and I’ll vote for yours.

The Arkansas Senator jumps at this and agrees and so they make a trade or agreement and support each other’s projects even though neither the Senators nor their constituents could give a rat’s behind about it.

So when the Senator from Idaho votes for the feather project in Arkansas, is the will of the people he represents truly represented?

We often hear of strange projects that our Congress sends millions of dollars on, like the study of the sex life of a mosquito, and we wonder who was crazy enough to have voted for such a thing. This trading of votes is part of the answer and is also one of the reasons Congress always manages to spend more money than they should.

Another problem interfering with representation is ignorance. You have probably heard about pieces of legislation that are accompanied by something like 1,500 pages of research.

Do you think our legislators take the time to read the whole thing? Very rarely. The real truth is that they often do not even read one page of material that is related to a bill they are voting on. Quite often all they know about the bill is what they have heard tossed around in debate or what their party bosses have told them.

Many bills have riders attached to them that will have more teeth than the bill itself. Often times the politician will know only a small amount about the bill and little or nothing about the riders, unless the rider happens to be a pay raise for himself and colleagues.

Therefore, we ask, when the legislator votes for something he knows little or nothing about can he in any way truly represent the will of the people who voted for him? Again, the answer is no.

Influence from party leaders is another big item. We have seen time and time again that close to 100% of legislators vote along party lines because of pressure from their leaders and the group itself.

From the time we were teenagers most of us have had some desire to fit in with a group and conform. This influence carries over in many ways to adulthood and is strongly manifest when our guy goes to Washington. We have seen time and time again that a person with high goals and good intentions goes off to Washington only to wind up under the thumb of party leaders and Washington influence.

When your man in Washington votes according to the wishes of party leaders is he then representing the will of the folks back home? Again, the answer is obvious.

The final barrier to real representation is prejudice. Each elected official has certain preconceived notions and religious convictions that are not the same as us folks who voted for him.

If this person believes that the earth is only 7,000 years old because of religious conviction will this not affect his votes on education which teaches evolution?

If his religious convictions make him strongly for or against abortion, we know that there is nothing in the world including the will of the people, that will alter his vote.

If the man uses pot, then he will support the legalization of it.

If he has lots of kids he will favor tax breaks for families and so on.

Each legislator brings numerous prejudices to his vote that have nothing to do with the will of the people.

So when we view all seven of these obstacles to the will of the people we may feel overwhelmed and feel within ourselves that we should just give up trying to change anything and just hope for the best.

The truth is that we do not have to give up on the possibility that the will of the people can become truly manifest. Such a thing is not only possible, but it is the destiny of the age to come.

There is a solution to these seven obstacles and they can be eliminated in one master stroke which is in complete harmony with the Constitution of the United States and most other free countries. Instead of just complaining about political situations, in our next article we will present a practical solution that will revolutionize the political world and eventually become a subject of great debate.

Human Beings are just good enough to make democracy possible…just bad enough to make it necessary.  Reinhold Niebuhr (1892 – 1971)

How to Lighten Up

How to Lighten Up

A reader tells us that he has some emotionally-polarized questions weighing on him lately and is hoping someone can provide enlightenment

He says: “I have been severely depressed since childhood. A psychic once told me it was due to my ‘soul origin’ and not karma. Whatever.”

JJ: Most psychics who have advised me have not been correct. You have to run all words of advice through your soul and see if it registers well.

Since you have suffered with this problem throughout your life it is probable that part of the reason goes back before birth, but it would have nothing to do with your soul origins. It could be connected with some negative karma from the past or perhaps current events triggering emotionally disturbing feelings from the far past.

When you read history of civilization beyond the past couple hundred years it is amazing when you see the difficult and traumatic experiences that ordinary people went through.

Reader: “It used to be that I could draw solace from certain naive thoughts that I now know are misguided. For instance, ‘I’m okay because Jesus knows me and loves me and is always with me.’”

JJ: Yes, that doesn’t help much for something that is not superficial.

Reader: “But now that I no longer have the standard Christian or LDS views, but rather the broader esoteric view, I realize that although Jesus and the Christ continue to work for the benefit of humankind, they are probably not aware of me individually. I’m assuming the same about the even higher lives.

“So my questions are:

“1. Is there a ‘someone’ out there who intimately understands me and what I’m going through, and can offer me exactly the support I need?

“2. What truth-based thoughts can serve as a source of comfort when things seem hopeless or pointless?”

JJ: The words of Jesus are accurate where He states that a sparrow cannot fall to the earth without God being aware of it. Then he says we are worth many sparrows.

While it is true that the Masters have better things to do than watch over each of us none of us are ever alone.

First of all, each of us are connected to a group mind and when we tune into this, we discover we are not alone and all depression disappears. The whole of the group mind is like your consciousness in your body. Now 99% of your body may be functioning fine, but maybe you hurt your finger. What happens then? The whole of your consciousness spends the necessary time nursing it until it is on the path of healing. Even so, your group mind will seek to help you whenever you are distressed. For highest effectiveness though the person must tune into the mind. Then he can receive a fullness of personality healing.

In addition to this, you have a Solar Angel which is in contact with your group mind. This higher being nurtures you and attempts to break the barriers of dense matter to assist and guide you.

Justin: “Should aspirants and disciples refrain from even seeking this type of comfort? Are we supposed to just ‘suck it up’ so to speak?”

JJ: Seeking help at points of tension is fine, but do not concentrate on seeking help all the time. Energy follows thought and this just sends needy energy toward the self, making things worse. Instead, as much as possible send that thought away from self to the service of others. When thought and energy are thus directed toward service it becomes difficult to become depressed.

Another thing that helps on a physical level is aerobic exercises. Research shows that vigorous exercise releases chemicals into the blood that produces a natural high and aids in removing depression.

Also if you find yourself depressed more when there is a lack of sunlight you may have a condition known as SAD [Seasonal Affective Disorder]. If so, getting plenty of vitamin D and sunlight helps. In times where there is not much sun the use of full spectrum lighting can create miracles for some. You can buy full spectrum lights at Home Depot and similar stores.

Justin: “Exactly who or what was the ‘Comforter’ that Christ told his disciples he would send them?”

JJ: Like any scripture this has several levels of meaning. The first level is the contacting of the Holy Spirit through the door of the soul. The next level is the contacting of your group mind. The third is an internal visitation of the Christ himself. This was the message Jesus intended for his inner circle to understand and only happens to accepted disciples.

Finally, I will end with this statement:

“Through focusing on healing others, I myself am healed. By serving others I find myself aided by many servants. By sharing the knowledge of God, I find that God knows and comforts me.”

Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional. – Anonymous
