Principles of Discovery, Part 14

Principles of Discovery, Part 14

Principle: “Put your attention on finding that which is true rather than that which is in error.”

How does this help us to discover that which is true? Does using this principle mean you will not see errors or even overlook them?

The first question to ask ourselves is why this principle works – why does focusing on that which is true work better than focusing on error?

The reason is revealed when we realize that two other principles are at play.

[1] Energy follows thought.

This tells us that if our thought is focused on that which is true then energy will follow and take us toward that which is true.

If thought is focused on that which is in error then the energy created will lead the person to error. He will see the error and usually miss the truth.

[2] You find what you are looking for.

If you look for that which is true then truth is what you will find, but if you look for error you will find this also.

We can see how this plays out in real life. Think of people you know who are very critical and seem to find error and fault under every rock. Do these people ever come up with a truth that inspires and uplifts? Rarely, if ever.

On the other hand, think of those who seek to be positive and see the good, the beautiful and the true in every possible situation. Think of how much closer to the soul and the truth you feel when in communication with these types of people.

It is true that one of the principles of discovery is the process of elimination, but when using this, the truth seeker will seek that which is true in the process. In other words, he will have as his focus the seeing of that which is true as he eliminates error. This is different than the negatively polarized person whose prime objective is to find error.

If a person is focused on error he can easily find what he believes to be error in any writings on the earth, even the words of Jesus.

Does using this principle mean you will not see errors or even overlook them?

One can still discover error on the path to find the truth, but seeing the error while in a positive mode will be an entirely different experience than seeing it while in the negative mode.

While in the negative mode the person will relish finding error and will even sometimes have a negative “aha moment” of glee like a vulture coming across dead flesh.

The positive person has his “aha moments” when truth is revealed and does not pounce upon the error when he sees it, but will take note of it and move on. He only places any attention on error when either he or truth he presents is attacked, but even here the focus is to highlight that which is true.

Principle: “Seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened – Ask and you shall receive.”

Part of the reason this principle works is obvious, but part is not. Why you suppose this principle can lead one to that which is true.

This principle comes from these words of the Master:

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8

I remember when I first heard this scripture when I was young. I thought this was a wonderful promise because I had many questions. But then to my disappointment I found that just asking God for an answer did not seem to work. Finally, I found the following scripture, which gave me encouragement. Here it is in a modern English translation:

Jesus said: “Suppose you went to a friend’s house at midnight, wanting to borrow three loaves of bread. You would shout up to him, “A friend of mine has just arrived for a visit and I’ve nothing to give him to eat.” He would call down from his bedroom, “Please don’t ask me to get up. The door is locked for the night and we are all in bed. I just can’t help you this time.”

“But I’ll tell you this; though he won’t do it as a friend, if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you everything you want; just because of your persistence. And so it is with prayer; keep on asking and you will keep on getting; keep on looking and you will keep on finding; knock and the door will be opened. Everyone who asks, receives; all who seek, find; and the door is opened to everyone who knocks.” Luke 11:6-10

I received encouragement when I read this. This seemed to be a key. Obviously, one does not immediately receive that which he seeks, but must be persistent over a period of time. This is what I decided to do. I would ask and seek until I received even if it took a significant period of time. Sooner or later, I would find out if the principle worked.

I thus set about seeking various mysteries that appealed to me. For quite a length of time not much seemed to happen but then in quiet moments when I was not expecting anything the inspiration began to come. At first the inner voice was so still and so small that I thought it was my imagination. Other times principles seemed to come to me as if in a blaze of glory, but over time I began to balance the intense with the inner quiet and to my delight I found that the answer to any question could be acquired. Some just took longer than others.

There are many questions that I have not yet received the answer to, but most of these I have not sought to know with intensity. Those things that I have sought to know with great energy have always been answered over time.

This brings us to the next principle: The point of tension.

The point of tension is a point of stress that precedes all creation as well as advances in knowledge and intelligence.

If you take a model airplane and wind up its propeller, the rubber band will incur more and more stress or tension until it becomes taut. At first it may seem like little is happening, that no tension is being built, but if the person persists the tension will indeed come. The flyer must use judgment and reach the right point of tension. If he winds too much the band will snap and disaster will occur. On the other hand, if he winds the right amount, he can constructively harness the energy of the tension to fly the plane.

Another, but different example of the point of tension is the adding of sugar to a glass of water. If you add a small amount the sugar it seems to disappear as if nothing is happening because its particles go in the empty spaces between the water molecules. But if you keep adding sugar the space between the molecules fills up and a point of tension occurs in the water. When this point of tension is reached the sugar becomes visible and some of that which was hidden materializes along with the added sugar.

This corresponds to finding what you seek. As you put attention on that which is sought and send energy to it, it may seem that nothing is happening for a period of time. But when the point of tension is reached an almost miraculous materialization will occur. This may come in the still small voice, a fiery confirmation or a flash of intuitive knowledge.

Rest assured that the parable of the persistent neighbor is true. If you keep on seeking, that life which is higher than yourself will finally yield and give you what you want.

“Three things the Pilgrim must avoid. The wearing of a hood, a veil which hides his face from others; the carrying of a water pot which only holds enough for his own wants; the shouldering of a staff without a crook to hold.” Glamour, A World Problem, Page 51

Principles of Discovery, Part 13

Principles of Discovery, Part 13
Discernment

To see the point of truth between the two extremes pointed out in the Pendulum Principle takes another principle – The Principle of Discernment.

In particular the disciple should seek the power to discern beyond physical seeing so he can see the difference in effects from the astral/emotional world, the mind and the world of the soul.

Discernment or correct seeing is difficult enough in the physical world. Just go to any courthouse and listen to two witnesses describe the same event. Sometimes there will be small differences and other times great ones, but always there will be differences. Then even with physical observation a witness may believe he sees more. For instance, the witness may believe he sees evil intent or guilt or he may see innocence or a “nice guy” in the defendant.

The problem with correct emotional seeing is that many try and discern it by physical evidence only. These people are easy to fool by an unscrupulous salesman or a con artist. The reason is that sometimes outward actions are a reflection of inward intent, but other times they are not. Unless the person can discern true emotional feeling, he will find himself to be wrong quite often when he sizes up a person’s inner nature by outer evidence.

So how does one learn to discern the true feelings and intent of others? The answer is he uses the principle that energy follows thought. Concentrate on reading people’s feelings and energy will follow your thought and eventually establish an emotional link that allows for consistent emotional communication.

Another key is to nurture the feeling of empathy. Seek to identify with the feelings of others, as with your own feelings and the communication link will increase.

As the emotional communication link becomes firm the pilgrim will suffer some disturbing, somewhat painful adjustments to his own emotional body. After the adjustments are made the storms will settle down and stability and added sensitivity will be the result.

The next step up is to establish a mental link. This will cause the seeker to develop the essential key of “reading between the lines” of what the other person is doing. When pure reason is developed the other person does not have to be physically present or even alive. The perceiver can merely study his words and discern many of the writer’s thoughts and intentions.

This mental discernment is invaluable when studying inspired works such as the scriptures. Those who go by a black and white interpretation only will always be in error. On the other hand, those who discern by the power of mind and reason can gain many more truths and with greater accuracy than those who are merely memorizing data.

Finally, we come to the great key of discernment through the soul. Here the person comes in contact with the Oneness Principle and grand vistas of knowledge and principles become available. He who is in the soul feels a vibration of confirmation whenever truth is spoken and discernment is greatly enhanced.

Quote from DK: “My words to you in the last series of instructions have sunk deeply into your consciousness and, little by little, the inner programme which should govern your life is slowly taking form-even if you remain as yet somewhat unconscious of it. How seldom do those who have the time and the leisure serve as do those who have no time or leisure! Reflect upon this statement and see to it that some form of life service takes shape in your consciousness which is other than the daily round which falls to those who tend a home. So oft the tending of a home, the functioning as a wife and mother and the performance of the social round, is deemed an adequate expression of service. For some it may and should be so. For others it is not, and you are among those who should function creatively and whose life should be dedicated to the expression of inner reality through the medium of some outer form. What will you, therefore, do if these words of mine are true?

“The world emergency is such that those who are affiliated with or who are members of the Hierarchy are calling for all the conscious creative aid that we can find. I call on you. It is for you to find the way to serve and to gain the needed sense of proportion, the necessary realisation as to the basic essentials of the spiritual life, and the tested discrimination and discerning faculty which will indicate to you the manner, the time and the mode of your service.” Serving Humanity, Page 374

Here is the next principle: “Seek proven authorities and learn from them.”

Since I have taught that the principle that makes the Beast is unearned authority some have taken this to mean that all authority is the Beast, including myself. There are, of course, positive authority figures who can demonstrate or who have mastered that which they teach. Even the Logos of our planet has an earned authority in the Hierarchy above him.

Assignment: Excluding me, name three earned authorities for you and tell us why they have earned that position.

Here are three important to me:

[1] DK, or Djwahl Khul who gave to Alice A. Bailey most of her writings.

There are a number of reasons he is an earned authority with me. The main one being that he comments on a principle that touches my soul in almost every paragraph he writes. No other writer does this for me.

Another reason is that often when I have had things revealed to me through the Oneness Principle, I later will be reading DK and discover that he had written about it either directly or indirectly through hints.

I find it interesting that the writings that Alice A. Bailey did by herself rarely say anything that I consider profound, that overall, a page of DK’s writings equals the light in one of her books – and her books are pretty good from a standard point of view. The difference testifies that Alice A. Bailey did not write the books attributed to DK.

Now one can say that some tricky evil spirit dictated the DK books, but they definitely did not come from Mrs. Bailey.

I believe the writings come from a true master of Wisdom and thus when his writings take me into unknown territory, I give then strong credibility.

Does this mean I automatically accept all he writes? No, but it does mean I give weight to all he writes. I personally find it amazing as to how much I automatically agree with because of soul confirmation as I read. After decades of study there are only two or three things I have on the shelf – on which I have not received soul confirmation and which I may disagree.

[2] The scriptures.

I say the scriptures because this includes other scriptures than the Bible such as the Aquarian Gospel, A Course in Miracles, Mormon scriptures and some from the East.

The most powerful of these are the actual words of Jesus.

These are strong authorities with me because I have received soul confirmation on many of the teachings. I have not received a blanket confirmation on any of them but enough so I take them all seriously.

[3] Teachers who have learned a skill, art or application of some kind. There are many good teachers who have reasonable mastery over a skill and are reliable to use as an authority. These are practical teachers recognized by the world, but when we get to the area of spirituality or metaphysics true authorities are few and far between.

“The Pilgrim, as he walks upon the Road, must have the open ear, the giving hand, the silent tongue, the chastened heart, the golden voice, the rapid foot, and the open eye which sees the light. He knows he travels not alone.” Glamour, A  World Problem, Page 51

Marriage of Spirit and Matter

Marriage of Spirit and Matter

“And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God: For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand. And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.

“And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia. And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great. And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.” Rev 19:1-6

When the disciple overcomes his personal Babylon, keeps his mind steady in the light and makes right use of money, sex and power he will establish a consistent soul contact. When this is done he will feel an internal rejoicing and know that indeed he has taken a major step toward becoming an inhabitant of the Kingdom of God.

He is now in a position to use good karma to serve the will of God and his fellow men and women.

“Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.” Rev 19:7-8

Notice it says “the wife hath made herself ready.” The whore or prostitute is gone, burned with fire and that which remains is the true wife of God or the lamb. The true wife does not worship the false gods of corrupted money, sex and power. Instead, she focuses on the light, love and will of God and dedicates all energies in this direction.

“And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God. And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Rev 19:9-10

The marriage supper is sponsored by the soul and marries the world of Spirit to the world of matter within the disciple. He or she then carries within the true Christ Consciousness at all times. No longer does he waver as his attentions shift back and forth between the world of form and Spirit. His focus is now sure and reliable.

John fell at the feet of the angel who delivered the revelation and commanded him to write. The angel refuses to allow John to worship him because he is “of thy brethren.” The angel was once a mortal man like John and his brother, and should not be worshipped.

As I said, we learn from DK in the writings of Alice A. Bailey that this angel is the Apostle Paul who was certainly a brother and had a testimony of Jesus.

“Down from the mountain top I come, bringing the light of Life, the life of Light. Into the chalice of the form I pour that light which life confers, this life which light sustains. I see this golden light transform the darkness into day. I see the blue of life divine pour through the form, healing and soothing. Thus is the task performed. Thus is a man of earth transformed into a Son of God.” Discipleship in the New Age: Vol I, Page 460

Principles of Discovery, Part 12

Principles of Discovery, Part 12
The Anti Majority Principle

“Take that belief which is embraced by the world, or the majority in a group, and look in the opposite direction. In this opposite direction much truth lies hidden.”

I have found many hidden morsels of truth by using this principle. A natural suspicion has always arisen in me when I have seen a belief being widely accepted that has not been positively proven.

Often is the case that I have asked myself, “Is this true, just because the vast majority says so?” Then I did something that most do not do. I ask “what if the opposite were true?” Is there any logic to support it?

Global warming is a good example. Almost all the media and visible authorities believe the earth is warming to an apocalyptic degree and humanity is the main cause. They think we need to spend trillions directly combatting the threat. I have given out some interesting facts that I have found from my research indicating the opposite may be true.

Here are some facts.

[1] Humans do release the greenhouse gas of CO2 and it has some effect, but no one can yet prove how much.

[2] CO2 is a plant fertilizer and has the positive effect of causing more greening of the earth and an increase in food production. Some greenhouses pump in additional CO2 to increase yields.

[3] In the past the earth has had over ten times the CO2 as it does now and there was no apocalypse.

[4] Much of the proposed spending will have little effect and the money would be much better spent to prepare for possible climate changes rather than to change the climate. For instance, a third of the Netherlands is below sea level, but they have wisely spent money in adapting to the situation rather than changing the climate.

Then one must also look at the majority belief within groups, even small groups, for all groups are influenced by the general thoughtform created from its members.

A majority belief among those who totally reject global warming seems to be that they think it is their right to drive as big of a gas guzzler as they want and by damn, they’ll go out of their way to drive what they want.

They may have this right but we all have a responsibility to apply the Law of Economy and use only those limited resources that we need and avoid waste and pollution as much as possible.

Now let us examine some fairly universally accepted religious beliefs to which I have applied this principle.

[1] God is perfect.

He is? How do you know this?

[2] God knows everything.

Everyone believes this, but why? They have no evidence.

[3] God is all powerful.

And we know this because? Maybe if he was all powerful things would be different in this world.

[4] God knows what I am thinking.

Maybe he’s not interested in what you are thinking.

[5] Jesus is the savior of the universe.

What the reason for thinking this? The universe is a big place. Maybe the earth by itself is a big enough job for a savior.

[6] God is infinite?

Maybe not.

[7] The mark of the Beast is a computer chip or some mark upon the right hand or forehead.

Maybe not. Maybe it is something everyone has overlooked.

[8] Life is not fair.

Maybe it is if we consider reincarnation.

Always be suspicious when you see a belief that is gaining great popularity and look in the opposite direction. In that direction is much truth to be found.

If you can think of any interesting bits of enlightenment you have found by looking in the opposite direction of the majority let us know.

The Pendulum Principle

Understanding the Pendulum Principle is a powerful key to aid in the discovery of truth. It can basically be stated as follows:

Average humanity swings back and forth in their beliefs from one extreme to the other. The reason for this is an extreme belief requires little thought or judgment. One can be lazy and not use the mind, but rely completely on feeling which swings to the extreme without check. In other words, everything is viewed through a black and white mode. All is good or evil, right or wrong with no shades of gray.

The reason this principle is important is that in most cases the extreme position is filled with error. If the seeker understands that some widely accepted beliefs are really an extreme position taken by the lazy in thought, then he can look at the middle, use judgment and discover much truth.

Let’s go through some popular beliefs and see how this plays out.

Extreme Belief Side One: Jesus is the God of the universe, is all powerful, all knowing and created all the billions of galaxies.

Extreme Belief Side Two: Jesus was just a regular man if he existed at all.

It is most likely the truth is between these two popular extremes. Good judgment can find it.

Extreme Belief Side One: Global Warming is caused by man and threatens our very existence within the next few years.

Extreme Belief Side Two: Global warming has not been proven so ignore what they say.

The most likely truth is that we will successfully adapt to any warming or cooling that may come just has humanity has done in the past.

On the other hand, we cannot just take it for granted that we are not creating a problem for the future and should work toward a reasonable understanding of our possible effect on nature.

Extreme Belief Side One: There is a conspiracy behind every major tragedy that happens.

Extreme Belief Side Two: All conspiracy theories are silly and to be ignored

Again, the truth is somewhere in the middle. Obviously, not all disasters are caused by government conspiracies, but then we know from history that sometimes there are true conspiracies. However, these often involve assassinations rather than some very complex plot that would involve thousands of people.

I tweaked the extreme conspirators after the Tsunami in Indonesia. I joked that someone would accuse Bush of planting a100 megaton atomic bomb in the ocean to cause a Tsunami to destroy lots of Muslims. It was only a couple days later that such a conspiracy theory did surface.

Extreme Belief Side One: We must cease from drilling for new oil for we are running out of resources and destroying the environment.

Extreme Belief Side Two: We must drill for all the oil we can for the foreseeable future.

Truth: Oil needs are still high so we will need new domestic oil production, but if we are wise, we can switch to alternative fuels within the next 30-50 years. Then we will need very little oil.

Extreme Belief Side One: the president is totally evil and I hate him.

Extreme Belief Side Two: The president is totally good and I love him.

Truth: All our leaders have their flaws and should be judged as doing their best, not as a Hitler or a saint.

We could go on and on but the sad truth is that many of the popular beliefs and positions of average humanity are extreme and lacking judgment. Some of these extremes are accepted as being moderate if popularized by the mainstream media. The true seeker will see where the true extremes lie and avoid taking a blind unthinking position on that extreme as he would a plague.

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a little better; whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is the meaning of success. Ralph Waldo Emerson

Outer Babylon

Outer Babylon

On an outward level, there are two possible interpretations of this scripture.

Earlier we were told that “the ten horns which thou sawest upon the Beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.”

The ten horns are the ten political divisions of the world. In my previous book, The Gathering of Lights, I identified them as:

(1) North America

(2) Central and South America

(3) United Kingdom, including Australia and New Zealand

(4) Europe

(5) Russia and neighboring countries

(6) Africa

(7) India

(8) China and Taiwan

(9) Japan and Korea

(10) The Middle East.

The ten horns had ten crowns, which are the ten major religions or:

(1) The Roman Catholic Church

(2) The Eastern Orthodox Church

(3) the Protestant religions, including the Mormons, even though they claim not to be protesting.

(4) Judaism

(5) Islam

(6) Shinto

(7) Taoist

(8) Confucian

(9) Buddhist

(10) Hindu.

Now, the interesting thing is that it was the ten horns that hated the whore. There was no mention of the crowns feeling the same way. This is because the religions of the earth are in bed with the whore and also wrongly use money and will prostitute themselves for it.

But, do not the political kingdoms become corrupt over money as badly as do the religions?

Yes, overall, they are just as corrupt, but the situation is different near the end of the age as seen by John. He says that the ten horns which will emerge in his future (and our present) will hate the whore.

We see this today in the governments of the earth. They have an idealist approach as to how business should use money socially and seek to impose all kinds of taxes, levees, fines, licenses, laws and regulations upon capitalistic enterprises. They seek to take money from the producers and give it to the non-producers.

They not only hate the whore but “shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.”

Today’s governments attack capitalism and business by viewing them as the enemy. They make her desolate by taxing them naked by over regulating them. They eat her flesh by causing many to merge or go out of business. Finally, they burn her with fire by instilling the emotion of hate and distrust toward capitalism and business so that public opinion sees business as the enemy more than the ineptness of political leaders. In fact, the leaders who draw the most praise are often those who stir up the greatest hatred toward business, especially big business.

From the sound of this scripture, it would seem that the day may be at hand when capitalism will completely collapse and be replaced by the ten horns of socialism, communism, or perhaps even fundamentalist Islam.

It is true that eventually our competitive capitalistic system will be replaced. It is presently in danger of being eaten up by corrupt socialism under the control of the Beast, but a complete destruction of it is not expected in the near future. This scripture is more likely to see fulfillment through the fall of certain corrupt businesses.

A perfect example is Enron in 2006. It is obvious that it was one of the corrupt capitalistic businesses of the world and its fall perfectly fit the description of the fall of Babylon. Just as Babylon fell quickly and did not rise again, even so did Enron. As we progress toward a new and more enlightened age, other businesses that are corrupt like Enron will fall until we get to the point that only the more solid businesses with little corruption can remain. As the quality of businesses improves, the corrupt ones will be more visible and fall with the rise of improved ones.

Eventually, as mankind raises in consciousness, the competitive system will be replaced by a much more cooperative one that will seek to bring abundance to all workers rather than a handful at the top.

Like a golden butterfly which flies in the face of the sun, I find myself poised upon the lotus petal of the earth. I hover; I stay a little moment and then I fly-into the golden pathway that leads unto the sun. Discipleship in the New Age, Vol 1 Page 460

Understanding Authority

Understanding Authority

There are a few who have read my interpretation of the Beast and have basically accepted the principle that the Beast is unjust authority, yet just cannot register what unjust authority is. This has been evidenced a few times in this group but now my teachings are moving off this group and are being attacked, used and distorted in other groups.

These people seem to like the idea that the mark of the Beast is not a computer chip, but wrong use of authority instead. They thus use a portion of my teachings, but distort them to the extent that all outer authority is the mark of the Beast. This distortion is so great that they call me the Beast for having a slightly moderated group and my insisting we have the right to stay on topic in a classroom. To equate this with Hitler barking orders to blind followers is pretty peculiar, to say the least. Nevertheless, it is happening.

The first question to ask is why so many have such difficulty in discriminating between just and unjust authority?

The answer, as usual, comes down to the Second Key. The more the seeker progresses on the path the more he will see the importance of the Second Key of judgment and its two aspects.

Let me remind you that the difficulty in following the Second Key is that thought is required and the lazy do not wish to think. Instead, they just want a black and white formula that requires no thought.

Instead of learning that there is a good authority and an unjust authority and they have to use judgment to discern between the two the lazy just want to register the simple equation that Beast = Authority and all Authority = Beast.

This is simply not true.

Positive authority not related to the Beast is earned or just authority. Much of the authority exercised among humanity is not related to the Beast but is helpful to us.

Examples:

[1] A teacher presenting material which he has mastered to a considerable degree. For instance, if a Spanish teacher can read and write fluently in Spanish and has demonstrated this to the students then he has an earned authority. The students do not expect him to be infallible but they expect that he knows what he is talking about and this authority makes it very helpful to assist the student in his learning.

[2] The teacher or some other authority deciding how the class should be taught and who should be allowed in. If it is advanced Spanish then those with no learning at all in the subject would not be allowed in. The teacher also uses just authority in deciding how the subject will be presented and what is on or off topic as far as the material to be covered.

There is nothing wrong with authority as presented in these examples. The problem with the lazy of mind is they just want a simple answer like the hippies of the Sixties concluded – something like “All authority is wrong. We must challenge it all and rebel against it all.”

Obviously, all authority is not wrong; else the burglar would have a case when he claims injustice that authorities stop him from burglarizing a home.

Authority is a power just as are money, magnetism and gasoline, and can be used for good or evil. Unfortunately, it is one of the most difficult and subtle powers to differentiate, for most unjust authority masquerades itself as benevolent and often all-knowing.

For instance, the religious leaders often present themselves as authorities speaking the mind and will of God. This is not true just because they say it, or they occupy the seat of a great teacher. This unproven authority must be challenged.

All tyrants and dictators use Beastly authority in that if they are challenged, often slightly, the person gets thrown in prison, tortured or at the very least loses his livelihood.

When one understands the right use of authority, he will find it amusing that some out there are calling me a beast for having a lightly moderated group or controlling the current topic at hand. There are and have been those who want to come in this group and challenge what has already been challenged and refuted, post off topic subjects (especially on the supposed conspiracy) and try and insult me and other members just to hear the sound of their own ego.

At least some of these are gravitating to their own group so they can drown themselves in their own venom.

It is interesting that I have been strongly criticized from both sides of the spectrum for our moderation here. One side says I let too much negativity and off topic posts through – that we need to only let those through who are positive and have something worthwhile to say.

The other side bellyaches when anything is rejected, even something like a revelation from Zor that the end is near.

Thank God that over 90 percent of the group is fairly reasonable and are glad that a small amount of authority is used to keep the class in order. The needs of the 90 percent, or possibly 99 percent, certainly outweigh the needs of the egos of the 1 percent.

It’s very hard to take yourself too seriously when you look at the world from outer space. Thomas K. Mattingly II

Our Personal Babylon

Our Personal Babylon

The rest of chapter 18 covers a central point and, instead of going through it verse by verse or line by line, we’ll comment on it as a whole.

“For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities. Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.

“How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow. Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.

“And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning, Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come. And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:

“The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble, And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men. And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.

“The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing, And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls! For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off, And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city! And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate. Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.

“And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all. And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee; And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.

“And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.” Rev 18:5-24

This indeed sounds like what the fall of Babylon represents – a major disaster.

The description of destruction is accurate for the old Babylon that represented the corruption of wealth and power in the days of Daniel and King Nebuchadnezzar.

It indeed was destroyed and did not rise again. However, in writing this prophecy, you know that John had Rome on his mind because much of the description is peculiar to it in John’s time. For instance, all of the merchandise mentioned was desired by and traded by Rome. Rome was the great financial empire of the time and was the greatest symbol in recorded history of the misuse of sex, money and power.

As we said earlier, however, this Babylon stands for something greater than ancient Babylon, Rome, the United States or any other country or empire. It stands for the corrupt use of money, power and sex, which in their purity are gifts from God to be used with wisdom.

There are two major interpretations we need to examine here, the inner and the outer. Let us first look at the inner.

The vision of John has taken us through the life of Christ, or advanced disciples, from his work in the world to how it develops through the group work of disciples as the work reaches a consummation. The fall of Babylon happens by an event that takes place as the teachings of Christ are maturing through his followers.

But the question that needs to be asked is this: why does a Babylon even exist among dedicated workers who are seeking to manifest the kingdom of God?

The answer is that they have not come out of Babylon, but are a part of it as the scripture says. What does this mean? It means that, as even those who are fairly enlightened grow up within a corrupt system. They are captivated by the corruption and buy into much of it. We covered a few things earlier, but the basic reason for the corruption is that money, power and sex are seen as a means to satisfy self above and beyond their use to promote the ways of the Spirit and to build a better world, or the kingdom of God.

So, why do disciples get deceived? Are they not aware they use money, power and sex for self above the selfless service?

The answer is that they are not aware.

Why, then, are they not aware? Should it not be obvious?

It is not obvious. Let us give an example to clarify.

Jim is a believer in the scriptures, the kingdom of God and sees himself as a follower of Christ. He is active in his church or organization that represents his belief system and listens to the teachings. He donates regularly to the organization and feels that he has done his part as far as right use of money. Then he spends the rest of his money on making his life as comfortable as possible.

What is wrong with this picture?

What is wrong is his attitude of mind more than the black and white of his actions.

Why does he give to his church or organization?

More often than not, it is to get approval from an unseen God or to satisfy the Beast of authority. This is a necessary step to secure a good place in the hereafter and maybe some praise in this world.

Does he know how the money is put to use? Does it go to build buildings or to pay the salary of a minister who is not advancing the world of Spirit on earth?

Then what is the motive of his use of the rest of his money? It is to make life more comfortable and secure. Will the use of his money and power have any beneficial residual effect if he were to die the next day? In most cases no.

This is illustrated in a parable given by the Master:

“And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?

And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.

But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” Luke 12:15-21

This rich man had only one thought of what to do with his abundance – use it for self and security. He was probably a good person by most standards. He legitimately earned his wealth, did not steal and kept the precepts of his religion. Even so, he was a victim of his own personal Babylon. That night he died and discovered that he had done little or nothing to use his money for the good of humanity. He had no treasure in heaven.

Eventually, in the life of the disciple comes the realization that his money and power have been misdirected, and nothing he is doing is laying up the true treasure in heaven. When this realization comes, his personal Babylon falls within the hour and he makes a personal commitment to use all his energy, money and power in the service of humanity as he sees it through the eyes of the soul.

Before this realization, he was unwilling to take any risk in order to render service. After the realization, he is prepared to lose everything – all his wealth, power, sacred honor and even his life, if necessary, to take a step toward making the will of God manifest on earth as it is in heaven.

The Higher Self

Question: Is my solar angel supposed to be me (my higher self) or some entity between me and the highest?

Your solar angel is more like your divine mother who has nourished you from an embryo, or your monad. The source of your monad, or spiritual seed, is your divine Father.

Your higher self is your upper Triad often called Atma-Budha-Manas. These are three higher vehicles wherein consciousness can reside. Since only an advanced disciple can ascend in consciousness to reside in the upper Triad the upper Triad of the regular seeker is occupied by the Solar Angel. From this upper Triad the Solar angel seeks to guide and stimulate you.

When your consciousness then ascends to the upper Triad your Solar Angel returns home and then through the Triad you seek to know your true source, your Father. The conclusion of this step was spoken of by Christ when he said “I and my Father are one.”

There is no darkness and no fog. There is no night or day. There are no storms nor peace, no rest nor strife; only the steadfast will of God which works toward good. Discipleship in the New Age, Vol 1 Page 460

The Two Systems

The Two Systems

Question: Which is the better system – capitalism or socialism?

Neither socialism, capitalism or money are good or evil in themselves. As concepts they are all neutral. Instead, it is how they are put to use or implemented that determines the good or bad of them.

The common phrase is “money is the root of all evil,” but the Bible words it more accurately by saying:

“The love of money is the root of all evil.” 1 Timothy 6:10

Money itself is neutral and people leave out the most important phrase “love of money” when quoting this important scripture.

The whore of Babylon (from the Book of Revelation) has a “love of money” which has a priority above the love of fellowmen.

The whore of Babylon is not evil because she makes money or promotes free enterprise, but because she loves money and will do anything to get it.

To see the prostitute from the Book of Revelation at work today one merely has to look at any vacuum that would be repulsive to fill. In each case we see that the vacuum does not remain empty for long.

For instance, if there is a demand for child porn and it is possible to circumvent the law on the matter, it will not be long before some prostituting individuals come out of the woodwork and fill the need. They will wind up making lots of money and doing irreparable damage to children on the way. Their love of money outweighs their sensitivity toward children.

After Gulf War I when the people of Iraq were in dire need of money and medical supplies, prostituting capitalists from around the world made under the table deals with Saddam Hussein that shortchanged the people and caused the deaths of innocent men, women and children.

During World War II when the freedom of the world was at stake prostituting capitalists from the Allied nations made deals with Hitler and the Axis powers only to enrich themselves.

The point is this. If there is a need and money is to be made filling that need, prostitutes will come out of the woodwork to fill the need to matter how disgusting or hurtful it is to their brothers – even to the destruction of civilization.

Now some misuse of money is very obvious, but others are not.

It is not evil to use money to fill your basic needs of happiness. There’s nothing wrong with buying a nice home, car and amenities that make your life better. Just buying things, by themselves does not make a person in cahoots with the prostitute of Revelations. It is when the person loves money more than he loves his fellow men and women. When money is loved above people then the person will not much question where the money comes from. If it comes from drugs that ruined people’s lives then that is fine to the person who loves money.

In real life the prostitute makes good money, but many who are not prostitutes do also. The difference with the prostitute is she loves money to the extent that she will do most anything to get it and this is the great evil that consumes the whore described in Revelations. Unfortunately, there are enough financial prostitutes in the world to create great evil in every country on the planet.

The idealists see this flaw and seek to destroy the system that makes this prostitution possible and implement a socialist system where all are equal.

The problem is that both sides are dominated by the authority of the Beast and care not for the free will of average humanity.

It is free will that must triumph in the end and when freedom rules the best possible system will prevail.

It has been said that pure capitalism has never been tried – at least not on any major level. It certainly does not exist in this age. Instead, we have the corrupted prostitute sitting upon the beast of authority using corrupted capitalism to her advantage.

On the other hand, relatively pure communism has been tried and in each case it has been a disaster.

Part of the reason for the success of capitalism and the failure of communism and socialism is that capitalism must operate within some degree of freedom and communism has always been forced upon the people. No good and lasting work can ever materialize through slavery. Capitalism, as it currently exists, succeeds to some degree because it has built in incentives for the individual and communism has very little incentive. Communism has group incentive, but few are evolved enough to be highly motivated by this, especially without free will. Some day through free will mankind will incorporate the best of the two systems, but it cannot be accomplished by force from Big Brother, or the Beast of authority.

We have talked about the corrupt woman of Revelation symbolizing misuse of capital, but previously we discussed another woman:

“And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars.” Revelation 12:1

This woman here represents right use of energy, including money, for she has enlightened views (the sun) right control and direction of desire (moon under her feet) and a pure heart (twelve stars).

Both Socialism and Capitalism need the virtues of this uncorrupted woman to reach their full potential. The ideal of socialism is to provide goods and services in abundance to all the people. Unfortunately for idealists, capitalism is essential to create those goods and services. Hence the evolution toward the workable ingredients in socialism must be through capitalism.

It is quite possible that a pure form of capitalism must be finally created before the true social ideals will be manifest. In a truly successful capitalism where there is maximum free will the poor will be taken better care of through giving and generosity than they are by the present governments of the earth.

Entropy

Question: What is the difference between an idea and a principle?

Actually, an idea and a principle are two different things. An idea is a concept and if it is a good one it will become clothed in form.

A principle is a description, or picture, of how and why things work and is always applicable. For instance, we just talked about the Lion Principle. This is not an idea but a picture of how we can effectively deal with people who roar at us.

Question: When you speak of “relative perfection”, and progression towards it; do you mean the relative perfection of the embodiment (form) of the/an idea, exclusive of or inclusive of the idea itself?

Yes, this is what I mean. Ideas are already perfect. For instance, if your idea includes a circle it will be a perfect circle. When clothing this circle with form you try to come as close to the perfect idea of a circle as possible. You may come close but no matter how hard you try you will never get the perfect circle. But you will reach a point where the circle you create will be good enough to get the job done. For instance, the circular form of the tires on your car is good enough so the ride is smooth. Attempting to make your tires more perfectly round is unproductive. Therefore, the shape of your tires is relatively perfect as it matches up to the perfect idea of the designer.

Your car with its tires will eventually be destroyed and recycled, but the idea will remain and can be recreated at any time.

That which is a thought or an idea in the mind of God is a part of the life of God and as the life of God progresses so do its parts progress.

Entropy causes all form to eventually disintegrate whether it be physical, astral or mental, but ideas reside in the atmic spheres and originate in the divine which is eternal.

Question: Do the creations of the mind suffer entropy?

Shape on the plane of the mind can reform quickly and can far outlast the physical, but just as occurs in the physical, intelligent energy must be poured into mental matter to overcome entropy just as happens on the physical plane. It just takes much less energy to maintain the form on the plane of the mind.

Entropy is overcome on all three planes of form when intelligent thought and energy are poured into the form.

The mind has the ability to draw spiritual energy and direct it toward building and evolution so entropy is neutralized as long as the thought is maintained.

These questions touch on the mystery behind all existence which has caused mystics in the past to exclaim: “How great the mystery of Godliness!” and let it go at that for their own sanity.

“Speak less and love more.” Djwahl Khul

The Fall of Babylon

The Fall of Babylon

“And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.” Revelation 18:1-2

The angel was so bright that “the earth was lightened with his glory.”

This tells us that the lower personality (the earth) is going to be faced with such a display of higher light and truth that it cannot be denied or ignored. That message that faces the carnal self is the great whore of “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen…” “Fallen” comes from the Greek PIPTO which is in the Aorist tense which does not have an English equivalent. It can refer to either past tense as is translated here or it could indicate an ongoing happening. In other words, it could indicate that Babylon was falling in the days of John and is still falling.

There are two falls of Babylon to consider here. The first occurs within the life of the individual disciple. This is a sure interpretation that will eventually happen to each pilgrim upon the path. He finds that he needs money for a number of legitimate reasons. To be happy and to be of effective service to God and humanity he must feed and clothe himself and his loved ones.

To obtain this money he often has to prostitute himself and perform labors that he does not like,  and that may require some dishonesty or may even contribute to enslavement of others or an unfair wage. For a long period of time, he may justify himself and tell himself it is worth betraying his inner impulses for the greater good. After all, money is essential is it not?

Eventually the disciple discovers that he cannot be a true spiritual servant of the Christ and be a prostitute at the same time. Often with misplaced idealism he will reject money altogether and take some sort of vow of poverty. This does not free him from the Beast however and sooner or later he must find the proper balance. When he does, the prostitute in him “falls” and he goes forth with a new vision and determination to earn all his money with total honesty, harmlessness and in a way that benefits the whole. He will have no desire to accumulate wealth for the lower self but to dedicate what he has to building the kingdom of God.

The outward interpretation tells us of a fall that the world itself will have in connection with money. The socialist idealism of the world sees money, the free market and capitalism as a great evil and is fighting to destroy it. Eventually the money systems of the world may fall, but this will not yet free us from the Beast. For a time, we would be under its control more than ever as it seeks to force goodness and equality down our throats.

As Babylon is falling, we are told that it becomes “the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.”

“Devils” here comes from DAIMON, which can be interpreted to mean a false god or an inferior being taking the place of God. In the “fallen” view of money, where it is prostituted, it indeed becomes a false God, even to the bearing of a man’s image on its face and to forcing many to work for it with greater zeal than they work in the service of God and humanity.

“…and the hold of every foul spirit…” “Hold” comes from PHULAKE, which more literally means “prison”.

To have to labor for money at a job that runs contrary to the individual’s soul is like being in a prison and puts many in a “foul” mood or spirit.

“…of every unclean and hateful bird.” The unclean birds are like vultures that wait for other competitive lives to die so they can eat their corpses.

We have heard that business is a “dog eat dog” world and there is a lot of truth in this. Many business people are like vultures in that they will rejoice in the death of a competitor (or even cause it) and pounce upon its corpse and consume its assets. This they often do with no regard to those who have lost their jobs and will suffer.

Someday this will end and for a time, under a more socialist system things will get worse, but eventually a new cooperative system will arise where service to the whole is the prime directive rather than profit at any cost.

The Crucial Priority

“For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.” Revelation 18:3

Because of this verse many assume that modern Babylon is either the United States as a whole or New York City. After all, New York rests upon water as did Babylon of old and the whore of Revelations.

This statement in particular is cited: “the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.” This does seem to describe the United States more than other nations, as it is a center of wealth. But what is not considered in this interpretation is that the United States did not even exist until about 1700 years after this was written.

“But John was seeing our time so it could be the United States,” says one.

Sounds possible until we look further in the chapter at the last verse:

“And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.” Revelation 18:24

Notice the word “all?” Babylon, or the great whore, is responsible for the blood of ALL the prophets and saints ever slain. This would include many holy men and women who were martyred thousands of years before the United States, or even Rome ever existed.

While it is true that Babylon of ancient times, then Rome and finally the United States seem to loosely fit the description of John’s Babylon, none of them killed all the saints.

What did kill the saints then?

It was nothing more than the corrupt use of money and power. The saints, prophets, inventors, innovators always disrupt the power of the privileged. Because the corrupt in power want to preserve their power and investment, they will destroy those who threaten them.

It has been this way from the beginning. The Babylon of Revelations has been with us from the beginning, but the interesting thing is that Revelations predicts here that within the body of the beast will grow ten horns which will hate the corruption and seek to destroy it. These horns (socialism) we are told did not exist in the days of John (Revelation 17:12) but would exist in a future age.

Let’s look at the rest of the verse: “For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her…”

Fornication in the Old Testament means to take your heart away from the living God and place it upon a false god that has no life. This is what happens when a person is corrupted by money and power. Money and power become first in his mind, even before God, making them spiritual fornicators.

The kings and leaders of the earth are also guilty of fornication with the woman. This means they placed the value of money and power above God or the welfare of their own people.

Next we have this interesting verse:

“And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” Revelation 18:4

A voice from heaven speaks, or the voice of higher or Christ consciousness. “Come out of her, my people.”

How are the lights among humanity supposed to come out of Babylon or the various corrupt systems of money and power?

The first thing to remember is that not all money, power and free enterprise is represented by the prostitute Babylon. It is the corruption of money and power she represents. Therefore, the first step in coming out of Babylon is to place the values of God, or the spiritual life, over the attraction of money and power. Do not let money and power be your God, or your main purpose and motivation in life.

Eventually the lights of the earth will take a second major step and gather out of Babylon into communities of their own where they will create their own system where money and power are put to constructive use for the benefit of the whole with little or no corruption.

Why should the lights gather out of Babylon?

Answer: “that ye be not partakers of her sins…” If a person stays within a corrupt system then he becomes corrupt, often without even realizing it.

“…and that ye receive not of her plagues.” The plagues of corrupt money and power are many – murder, robbery, theft, war, famine, unrest and lack of personal peace of mind.

The peace of the Spirit, which passes all understanding, is something that corrupt people with money and power cannot buy at any price. This is the priority to which the disciple must seek.

“Like a golden butterfly which flies in the face of the sun, I find myself poised upon the lotus petal of the earth. I hover; I stay a little moment and then I fly-into the golden pathway that leads unto the sun.” Discipleship in the New Age, Vol 1 Page 460

Applying the Lion Principle

Applying the Lion Principle

Question: You emphasize looking on the Christ within others and overlooking the personality. Does this mean a true disciple will always be at peace with no negative feelings?

To help to clarify this subject let me ask several questions and then answer them.

If you have soul contact, have the ability to hold your mind steady in the light and to focus on the soul in your brethren will you not see another person’s faults?

Answer: Soul contact does not make you blind. Instead, you will see the faults of others more clearly than ever. The difference between one in the soul and one in the personality (as far as seeing goes) is that the one in the soul will see the true faults of others and not reflect his own weaknesses in others. He will see true flaws rather than illusionary ones and be aware of how a correction can be made.

Question: So, will this person be as critical as the next guy and try to straighten his brother out through criticism?

Answer: He who looks upon the soul will give much less criticism than the brother in the personality, even though he sees more. The big question he will ask himself is “Will criticism help and is it prompted by my soul?” Nine times out of ten the answer will be no and the disciple will merely bide his time and wait until such a discussion will do some good. That time usually comes when the brother comes to him and asks for his opinion or advice.

Unsolicited advice or criticism, even if it comes from a Master or archangel, is usually rejected and not appreciated.

Question: Will this person be hurt or disturbed by the faults and errors of another?

Answer: As a basic rule the disciple will not take anything personally. It matters not whether he is insulted, shunned or disparaged. He will look at the offending brother the way an intelligent person does a wild animal, such as a lion. You don’t hate the lion because it roars at you or even if he would eat you if he has the chance. Instead, you recognize the lion for what he is and you realize the roars are just part of his makeup and stay out of his way so he does not eat you.

When you look at the life essence of the lion you realize you can have affection for him and even totally accept his place in the scheme of things.

Even so, our brothers and sisters have many faults, but they are what they are and the wise will look upon their souls and see the dominating good that is driving them. If they roar they will not be offended. That does not mean they will accept the roars. The disciple has as much right to peace in the outer world as the next guy and he has a perfect right to avoid contact or closeness with those who grate on his personality or slow him down.

He may withdraw, but he will not hold a grievance. The key to not holding a grievance is what we might call the Lion Principle. People and lions are what they are and we should not hate them for being so. We can accept them for what they are but deal with them wisely so no harm will come.

Question: Will this person be kind to those who abuse him?

Answer: Yes, unless directed otherwise by his own soul – which is rare.

Here is a great scripture on this principle:

“Now power or influence can or ought to be maintained by virtue of the priesthood, only by persuasion, by long-suffering, by gentleness and meekness, and by love unfeigned; By kindness, and pure knowledge, which shall greatly enlarge the soul without hypocrisy, and without guile– Reproving betimes with sharpness, when moved upon by the Holy Ghost; and then showing forth afterwards an increase of love toward him whom thou has reproved, lest he esteem thee to be his enemy; That he may know that thy faithfulness is stronger than the cords of death.

“Let thy bowels also be full of charity towards all men, and to the household of faith, and let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly; then shall thy confidence wax strong in the presence of God; and the doctrine of the priesthood shall distill upon thy soul as the dews from heaven. The Holy Ghost shall be thy constant companion, and thy scepter an unchanging scepter of righteousness and truth; and thy dominion shall be an everlasting dominion, and without compulsory means it shall flow unto thee forever and ever.” D&C 121:41-46

Question: Will such a person never experience negative emotions toward others?

Answer: One who looks upon the soul can still feel negative feelings toward others, but such occurrences will not be very frequent. When this does happen, he will not deny those feelings and pretend they do not occur because he considers himself enlightened. Instead, he will accept them and view them from the vantage point of the observer. He will realize that his true self is not his emotions and observe his emotions as he would a wild lion and then decide how to render the emotions and situation harmless. Within a short time, through the guidance of his soul, he will diffuse the negative emotions to make way for continued focus upon the soul of others.

Even when suffering the greatest of offenses, the disciple will not react as his emotional body dictates. Instead, he will connect with his soul through the mind and decide how to respond and that response will always be the most harmless path he can discern.

Environmental Enlightenment: (As of 1997) Standing timber in the United States has already increased by 30% since 1950. There are now 60 tons of timber for every American. Tree-ring studies further confirm this spectacular increase in tree growth rates. It has also been found that mature Amazonian rain forests are increasing in biomass at about two tons per acre per year. A composite of 279 research studies predicts that overall plant growth rates will ultimately double as carbon dioxide increases. LINK
