Within/Without

A reader made the comment basically to the effect that all knowledge is within and all we have to do to obtain anything is to go within and retrieve it. She points out that some people have been known to speak a foreign language they have not learned in this life.

It is true that a record of all history is recorded in the Akasha, but even if you have the ability to read it correctly (which is rare) this is still a form of learning from without. Your physical form without is composed of the mental, astral and physical bodies, and any learning through any of these bodies is without, or happens outside of your true self of pure spirit.

For all practical purposes, the learning of all knowledge is from without. In those rare cases one who speaks a foreign language they ave not learned are able to do so because they learned it in a past life. I Have had people speak in a foreign language and accents during regressions to past lives.

If you take all the paragraphs in a novel, cut them up, put them in a big bowl, throw them in the air, let them land randomly and then read the various phrases it would be difficult to make sense of them. Very little could be learned about the real story, without great effort. This corresponds to the human attempts to read the Akasha. It is distorted by many fogs of illusion and glamour plus much misinformation, and is only really useful to one who goes beyond knowledge into principles from the formless worlds, which are attained by a true “going within.” Only through the use of principles (or checking from without) can a person know if knowledge from the Akasha is accurate.

We are all familiar with Houdini’s experiment of leaving a message for psychics to attempt to read after he died. He even agreed to help them by communicating the message from beyond the grave if possible. So far no one has been able to “go within” and retrieve this message. What makes this a lot more difficult than coming up with words from a foreign tongue is that none of us have Houdini’s message in our past life memory banks. Therefore, the only way to retrieve the message is to contact the real Akasha with an understanding of the principles involved.

This illustrates that for all practical purposes, the only way to learn facts and data (knowledge) in a useful way is through the normal process of sensory perception. And if you are going to learn anything complicated it helps to have a good teacher.

If you want to test the theory of learning within I’ll give you a question that you cannot retrieve from a past life. I am writing in my notepad a one digit number. This gives you a reasonable chance of getting the right answer. Go within and tell me what it is.

Good guess, but the number is not zero, but like Edison you have successfully eliminated one item that is not the answer. Everyone’s chances are getting better with each guess.

By the way, Tracy e-mailed me the number 9. That is also not the answer.

So far my friends, you have guessed 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,and 9 but have not yet gotten the number or even the right direction. One of these numbers is close to the answer. There are nine one digit numbers yet to go. You learned them in high school math.

Confirmation of Principles

The Test

“If you want to test your theory of learning within I’ll give you a question that you cannot retrieve from a past life. I am writing in my notepad a one digit number. This gives you a reasonable chance of getting the right answer. Go within and tell me what it is.”

By the way, just to make sure you understand, the rule is one guess per individual per day, not just one guess per day for the group. Also, I said that one number guessed was close. By that I meant that someone guessed the right number in the positive mode. So what we have here are six numbers left to guess as of this writing. -1, -7 and -9 are taken and are not correct. Sorry Diane it’s not -0. All the positive digits and zero have also been guessed. And rest assured, I will tell you the truth about the number I wrote down when it is guessed correctly.

Even though no one has retrieved the number yet I thought I would proceed here.

The fact that everyone guessed in the wrong direction until all the options were taken corresponds with our search for truth in real life. We often accept and look in the obvious direction until we reach a dead end. Only then does another path appear before our eyes, and only then will we even consider it.

One of the missions of all spiritual teachers is to dispel common illusions and misconceptions so the wrong path does not have to waste ages of our time. It is a difficult job because students caught in old age teachings, or even close disciples of the teacher, become frustrated and angry.

The story of Christ is the prime example of this. The leaders and common people both held many rigid beliefs that Jesus shattered. When a number of people began to believe Him, those who were resistant to change and higher knowledge, fought Him in every way possible, until finally He was crucified.

I seek to use the Master as my prime example. To follow in His difficult footsteps, the spiritual teacher must dispel illusions along the path. The illusions need to fall before him just as a tree growing on the path must be felled before the way can be followed again.

One illusion is that all we need to learn anything is to go within. This is true to a degree when dealing with principles, but is of little use for seeking regular facts and data unless one is very advanced.. To illustrate this is true, I wrote down a single piece of data in my notebook and challenged the group to go within and retrieve it. Now as soon as I wrote that in the notebook, a record of this event was entered in the Akashic records. It is technically possible for an adept to retrieve this.

The number was also floating around in my thoughts, and it is remotely possible that someone would be sensitive enough to pick the number through telepathy. The reason I say the chances are remote is that I don’t allow just anyone to probe my mind. It is also possible that certain invisible lives watched me write the number down and they could transfer the information to you.

If you are very sensitive to the etheric, astral and mental bodies and an adept of a high order, it may be possible for you to use these vehicles to pick up some necessary data out there. But the truth is, when the student truly goes within he retrieves no knowledge, data or facts. The only thing you can obtain from within, until you become an initiate, is confirmation of true principles. Once you have mastered this ability, to a degree, the next step is to retrieve principles from the formless worlds.

At this point several objections may arise.

One may say that he receives numerous teachings from invisible entities by going within. It is a possibility that a seeker can receive knowledge from an invisible entity, but that is not learning from within, any more than learning from your algebra teacher is going within. Such a teacher is outside yourself, an outside authority, and no more within you than I am. The only difference is that the seeker uses senses from the astral body for communication rather than the physical.

Another may state, “When I go within I have all kinds of valuable information come to me including facts and data.” Part of this comes from learning in this life, that is consciously forgotten, and is merely retrieved from memory, and part may be knowledge brought back from past lives. Once a person taps into the area of the mind where this past life information is stored, you do not have to go within any more than you do when remembering what you ate for dinner.

So why am I teaching this, and why is this important information? If a person has the simple belief that all he has to do to get any information in the universe is to go within, then, if this belief is strong enough, it creates a thoughtform that hovers around the seeker almost as a separate living entity that has a life of its own. This quasi entity also picks up information from questionable sources and feeds the seeker.

What often happens next is that the seeker gets more and more facts and data fed to him from the thoughtform. Usually there is no way to confirm whether or not this data is true and no principles are ever transferred. This person will then get all kinds of false information filtered through his belief system.

If his beliefs are centered on extra terrestrials, he may believe he is in contact with ZOR from Alpha Centauri. This ZOR will have a piece of data for any question asked. He can tell you the exact hour the great earthquake will come, the exact date the world will end, when the mother ship will show up, how many planets are in his system, how old the universe is, what parts of the earth will soon be under water and so on.

The thing is that ZOR (or an astral Jesus) is telling you nothing that Xavier, John or Glenys couldn’t think up just as well. I could say Alpha Centauri has 10 planets around it and one of them is populated by intelligent lizards and who could prove me wrong? I could say that the mother ship will show up July 5, 2012 and no one could prove me wrong until that date, and even at that time ZOR will tell us that mankind was just not ready in time and the date was moved up.

Beware of anyone who claims to be going within and only brings forth facts and data, but no principles. True disciples of the Christ and the Masters around Him will always teach or amplify principles and teach others to find truth through such principles and verification of principles.

There is no knowledge, facts and data as we understand them in the formless worlds for all data is associated with form. This is why you cannot retrieve them by going within. You can go within and use the power of the Spirit through your soul to confirm true principles, but you cannot acquire only data by this high method. On the other hand, after a principle is made clear to the student, through an increase in light, much knowledge then becomes available to the physical brain that was previously hidden.

Consider this analogy: You as the master of your body are like a god to the infinite little lives who live there. Similarly, the one God has the whole universe as a physical body, and you are a tiny life that lives within this greater body.

Now there are an infinite number of things going on in your body that you are completely unaware of because your attention is on a higher level. Right now your kidneys and liver are doing a fantastic and complicated job of removing poisons from your body and you are completely oblivious as to how it is done and the intelligence that is doing it even though these life energies are a part of you. Your tiny cells are duplicating themselves and their DNA with overwhelming intelligence and you do not have a clue as to how it is done.

You (the wholeness), as a god to your body, don’t know anything about many of the things going on in your body. If your little cells were to ask you a question about how to alter their DNA, there is little you could do to help them because your attention is on a higher level. Because these little lives have their attention on their own world, they are expected to solve their own problems; for you, as a larger entity, have your own new worlds to conquer.

If there was some purpose in it, you could use your power of ATTENTION to commune with the lives in your body, but it is important that they handle their own problems so you are allowed to place your ATTENTION on the world where your normal consciousness is.

From the beginning of this group my main goal has been to lead some of you into the true world of the soul, so many can learn to verify information through the soul by using correct principles. A great leap forward in this process is to not be deceived by a multitude of facts and data, but to learn that the Spirit within can and does verify principles, and principles behind various packages of knowledge.

Let us use an example of a principle taught in the Immortal book. “I AM BECOMING that which I DECIDE to BECOME.” When many of you compared this principle with the idea of a static, never-changing condition for all eternity, it just struck a chord within your soul. The reason this statement of principle felt so good was that with principles, we are dealing with the language of the soul. From and through the soul we can receive a true communication and confirmation and we experience it as joy. The good part is that as we progress from confirmation to confirmation, our sensitivity to this communication becomes more and more reliable, until the seeker can bring down principles from on high, for not only him, but others.

But as far as a regular knowledge that is available in the world through books and teachers is concerned, the best way to acquire it is from without. A good teacher is invaluable and so is a good book written by a teacher. One thing our experiment on the number demonstrates quite clearly is that it is much easier and faster for me to just “teach” you the mystery number than to let you stumble along trying to find it within yourself.

The problem is that we often want to feel that we are completely self-sufficient and do not need anyone, but in truth all of us do. Even Christ has a teacher and that is the Ancient of Days and then there is a teacher above him. When the student is ready the teacher will appear.

Game Over

I’ve been away from the computer for a while, but I see that Anni guessed the number first. It was -2. It couldn’t happen to a nicer person. I’ll send you the free signed book with your bumper stickers, Anni.

I am totally out of new books, but the bindery is supposed to have the second edition done in a couple of days. It is the same as the first, but with some typos corrected.

I see that John also got the right number. I guess we’ll have to give him the consolation prize.

Friday, when I went into our office, I found my friend Wayne there talking to my wife. We got into a conversation and I told him about the number that the group was trying to guess. He said he would take a stab at it. Here’s what he said:

“Well one digit numbers are positive as well as negative and you probably decided to pick a negative number. You probably thought about three and one but I would have to guess that it is minus two.”

I was totally startled. I patted him on the back and told him that he must be close to being a master. He left with a satisfied look on his face.

About 15 minutes later my wife approached me and told me the truth. Just before I came in she had told Wayne about the contest and mentioned that the answer was -2. I smiled and realized that Wayne really put one over on me. We had a good laugh at breakfast this morning.

Consciousness

It is interesting that different belief systems have certain words that are acceptable and others that are not. Some even go so far as to accuse those of different beliefs as being evil, not because of any of their actions, but merely because of their choice of words.

There are different key words used by various Christian religions, but if we look at Christianity as a whole and new age thinking the difference becomes pretty pronounced. Now there is also a difference in shades of meaning between various new age and metaphysical groups, but not so pronounced as between the Christians and new age thinking.

One of the words that sends up a red flag for the standard Christian is “consciousness.” The standard thinking for them is that consciousness means merely being awake and if you use it for more than that you off into forbidden thinking. Now some new agers may throw the word around more than is needed and sometimes without much thought behind it, but they are indeed correct in their idea that there are various levels of consciousness. We will examine them, but for clarity’s sake let us first define the word.

Consciousness, especially in the context of this discussion, is the state of being awake or aware of certain things. One could say that the greater one’s consciousness is the greater will be his realm of awareness.

In this physical world we could assume that he who is well traveled will have a greater awareness, or consciousness, of the world than one who stays at home.

He who wears night vision goggles will have greater consciousness of the terrain than the one who does not have them.

When we apply consciousness to spiritual thinking we then shift awareness from the physical to the spiritual or that which us not seen by physical eyes.

Now the regular Christian believes that he is aware of God’s presence in his life, Jesus in his heart and the Holy Spirit so he would be factual in claiming that he has a higher consciousness in this area than the typical atheist. It is interesting that by definition most Christians could correctly use the term “higher consciousness,” but they shy away from it.

On the other hand metaphysical people correctly embrace the word. Here are various things that we can be aware of while in this human state.

(1) The emotional world. We are all aware of emotions, but some much more than others. Some can read emotions in others and know how to communicate well on an emotional level. Some have an empathic consciousness and can feel the emotions of others. In this category alone one can find several different states of consciousness.

(2) Love. Love stirs emotion but is in a world of its own. There are several different levels of love. There is selfish possessive love, romantic love and spiritual love all taking a different level of consciousness to fully understand.

(3) Mind and reason. Mind and thought is invisible but we all know it is there and again there are many different levels of using thought and reason. Stephen Hawking has a different state of consciousness theorizing about black holes than does the ditch digger waiting for the end of his shift. Our thinking takes us to many levels of conscious awareness.

(4) Creativity. One who writes music, novels, paints or performs will tap into a creative awareness of which many people are not aware.

(5) Higher vision. Some can see etheric and astral matter and can see auras, and sometimes spiritual beings. This increases the number of things of which they are conscious.

(6) Understanding. Every time our understanding increases so does our consciousness. Understanding merely opens the door to more conscious awareness.

(7) Intuition. Some can focus within and connect to the intuitive plane and obtain flashes of inspiration that will enhance his consciousness.

(8) The word of ideas. Some can bring down great and original ideas from a conscious state that many never attain.

(9) The Christ consciousness. This is a term often used by new agers yet shunned by most Christians. Ironically, it is the new agers who are being biblical here in following advice from Paul who said:

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” Phil 2:5

Also:

“To whom God would make known what is the riches of glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is CHRIST IN YOU, the hope of glory.” Col 1:28

If we follow Paul’s advice and have Christ in us as well as the same mind as Christ then we would indeed have the Christ consciousness.

There is spiritual internet out there that links up the minds of Christ and numerous spiritual brothers and sisters. All can share the mind and consciousness of Christ.

Indeed consciousness has many levels and applications and is a very positive word to use.

 

Evil Words

There are a number of other words used by people into metaphysics that seem to rub orthodox religious people the wrong way. Here are a few:

(1) Occult

This is a biggie as many Christians seem to equate this with the devil himself, but is this reasonable?

Not really. Occult merely means “hidden from view.” This is a common word used in astronomy when a planet passes in front of a star and hides it from view. The star is said to be “occulted,” or hidden.

Something mysterious that is not revealed or not understood by the masses is also said to be occult. The word is sometimes used in reference to astrology, palmistry, deep metaphysical writings, ceremonies and even scientific mysteries. One could say that the mysteries of creation, black holes and the theory of relativity is quite occult.

So, if this word has such a wide application then why do some orthodox Christians associate it with Satanism or the devil?

Interestingly, they rarely use it to attack real Satanists who probably do not use the word any more than the word “Bible.” Any group, good or bad must use thousands of different words. Single words do not make any group good or evil. One has to look at the whole of their teachings and actions. “By their fruits ye shall know them,” not by any individual words.

Because many metaphysical teachings are not understood, and thus hidden from the orthodox Christian the word ‘occult” is used by them in a positive way. Religionists therefore take the opportunity to demonize the word and the people who correctly use it.

Instead of taking this “evil by association” approach they should examine how the word is used in a case-by-case basis and see what the person is actually saying. Like any other word used in a context of a page of text the meaning can go many directions.

(2) Magic, white magic and black magic

Any use of the word “magic” in the supernatural sense is seen as something inspired by Satan according to many orthodox believers.

I think that most in the new age and metaphysical community would agree that any type of magic that causes harm to another to further selfish ambitions is on the dark path and would fit in with black magic.

Then there are gray areas where magical ceremonies are used to acquire wealth or fulfill personal desire but without intent to harm.

Some would call this black magic, but the practitioners just call it magic.

Then we get to more benevolent magic which is very similar to what standard religion calls “miracles.” Some call the work of benevolent miracles such as Jesus performed, “white magic.”

A rose is a rose by any other name so if one calls a miracle white magic , where is the rub? After all a miracle or white magic is merely a healing or event – the workings of which are beyond human understanding.

If someone is talking about white magic in a similar context to the Bible miracles then there is no case to associate such a person with the dark side.

(3) Karma

Many believers do not like this word, which seems to make their hair stand on end. As soon as they hear a person use this word in a positive way they will immediately associate him with the devil’s side of the fence.

This should not be the case as the meaning behind this word is expressed very clearly in the Bible:

“If a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For every man shall bear his own burden. Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: FOR WHATSOEVER A MAN SOWETH, THAT SHALL HE ALSO REAP. for he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption (the resurrection of krisis or rebirth in mortality); but he that soweth to the spirit shall of the spirit reap life everlasting.” Gal 6:3-6.

Basically the law of karma is that we reap that which we sow. If that is an evil teaching then Paul who wrote Galatians had to have been evil also.

(4) New Age

This is another phrase that orthodox believers do not like and associate it with everything that is considered anti Christ.

Many who follow a metaphysical path are called new agers because they believe the old age is passing away and a new and better age of peace is coming.

The strange thing here is that Christians themselves are new agers, but just do not use the word. They are new agers because they claim to believe that we are approaching a new age of peace where Christ will rule on the earth.

After all their scriptures say:

“And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.” Revelation 21:5

“Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the days of old. Behold, I will do a NEW thing; now it shall spring forth….” (Isa 43:18-19)

Instead of calling the coming age of new things, the “new age,” they call it the millennium.

So both the new agers and the Christians believe in a coming new age of peace, but call it by a different name.

(5) Meditation

This word and practice is becoming more accepted all the time. Still there are quite a number of hardliners that believe the practice somehow takes people away from God. What they do not realize is that prayer itself is a form of meditation and creating plans for your life is another. Meditation can bring people closer to God rather than take them away.

The important thing here, when we look at beliefs that are different from our own, is to first understand exactly what those beliefs are. When the language barrier is crossed we may find that the gap may not be as great as imagined.

Distorted Words

Just as there are words that turn off standard Christian and religious believers there are also words that turn off people inclined toward metaphysics and esoteric philosophy.

There are two reasons for this.

The first is that many search out some type of alternative belief system because regular religion just placed a bad taste in their mouth.

The most common reason for this is that as a child religion was forced down their throats. Their parents dragged them to church and forced them to listen to the preacher and teachers. Some had religious parents who were strong disciplinarians and punished the kids in the name of the Lord.

Still others maybe tried out religion of their own free will and were turned off by hypocrisy.

Others like myself did not feel fed with the simple doctrines and wanted more.

Quote a few of the LGBT community do not feel at home or accepted in any orthodox religion and search for acceptance elsewhere.

The bottom line is that if one does not feel he is getting the highest spiritual food available he will sooner or later move on and look for greener pastures.

The second major problem alternative believers have with standard religion is their vocabulary. This is rarely pointed out, but it is indeed a factor in their alienation.

So, what are the words that turn off many and why would this be the case?

Here are some: Sin, repent, salvation, devil, demons, evil, redeem, judgment, forgive, holy – plus the way the Bible is presented in the King James with all the thees and thous, especially the “thou shalt nots.”

Overall the language used by the scriptures and the teachers seems too judgmental and holier than thou for many.

What I found interesting when I started checking into the original meanings of the Greek and Hebrew words from whence the Bible is translated is that many of the words conveyed quite a different meaning to those who lived in ancient times than they do now. I was delighted to find that the original meaning made a lot more sense and did not convey such a puritanical atmosphere.

Let us look at just three common religious sounding words.

(1) Sin

The word sin comes from the Greek word HAMARTANO which means “to miss the mark.” In other words when the Greeks, 2000 years ago, shot at a target with an arrow and missed they “sinned” (HAMARTANO) or missed the target. Is this how the word “sin” is used today? Verily no. When the religious person thinks of sin in our age, he generally thinks of being unclean and ridden with guilt.

Now when you shoot at a target and miss the bulls eye do you feel degraded and guilty to the extent that you feel paralyzed and even feel unworthy to shoot again? No, of course not. When you miss you may find it mildly irritating, but you generally can’t wait to have another try at it.

Guilt has been identified with sin by those who have sought to control the souls of men, but among the enlightened prophets it was not always so. To them sin was seen as a human error and salvation from sin is the path that leads to a correction of error. The prophets in times past did not seek to control through guilt, but sought to shift consciousness from error to perfection as they saw it.

(2) Salvation

So, what would salvation from sin mean in ancient times? Salvation comes from the Greek SOLTERIA which literally means “to rescue or deliver.” Therefore salvation from sin is really a deliverance from error.

If one is taught the truth about guilt and its cause and release and the person accepts this teaching as correction, then he is saved from sin or delivered from a great error in his thinking. In the old days many people believed that the world was flat. But when Columbus proved to them that it was round, it could be said that Columbus saved the world from its sin. In other words, he delivered (saved) the world from its error (sin) in thinking.

When it is said that Jesus was crucified for the sins of the world the truth is that the world made a grave error in crucifying him.

When it is written that Jesus saved the world from its sins, the meaning is simply that he left the teachings and example necessary to correct the world from its error in belief and thinking. Most people did not believe a man could rise from the dead. Jesus corrected this error by demonstrating power over death, thus he saved the world from sin in this matter.

(3) Repent

“Repent” is translated from the Greek word METANOEO which literally means “to exercise the mind to think differently, or to comprehend differently.” A new ager should not be turned off by this original word for it is similar in meaning to being told today to “raise your consciousness.”

If we wish to usher in the New Age we must indeed think and comprehend differently than we do. There must be a paradigm shift for humanity, Most importantly, we must accept responsibility for our own actions, and not wait for God to save us or to set things right.

We could go through all the common Bible words and explore their original meaning and discover that they had a different slant back then the way it is used today.

The Illusion of Obedience

In the LDS church as well as many other religions the most prominent idea presented is to obey God and keep his commandments. The idea is to become perfect as God is perfect by being strictly obedient to everything that comes down the pike.

There are several problems with this idea.

(1) A lot of the commandments, rules and traditions given out are commandments of men and have little to do with being in harmony with the will of God.

(2) It is almost impossible to be in perfect obedience to the demands of any religion. This creates a feeling of frustration, guilt and unworthiness for many decent people.

(3) Being perfectly obedient is often seen as the ultimate goal in life. This is a huge mistake, especially when obedience is to the commands decreed by some external human person and not the voice of God within. Even most of the obedience to the scriptures boils down to some authority’s interpretation of what it says that the flock is supposed to follow.

Then there are problems in attempting to strictly follow the scriptures. No one tried harder to be black and white about this then did the Jews in the days of Jesus who crucified him. That attitude did not serve them well.

The seeker really does not get a lot of benefit out of following the commandments of men though there is some. He gets a little self-control that he can use for other things. In addition, numerous commands gives him a little structure to his life that he may not have without them.

Some of the commands may help him be a better person. If a person has an addictive personality a command not to drink or smoke may give him a little extra incentive to not get out of control. It does take discipline to give money to a church, but how much good is accomplished by the donations? In most cases it would be more productive to hand the money out to the homeless on the streets.

Many of the commands such as to not steal, murder, lie, or commit adultery are obeyed by those who are not religious at all, just because they see it as the right thing to do.

The elephant in the room fact of the matter is that the basic ability to be obedient to a set of rules is just the first small step in our eternal progression. The goal behind obeying a set of moral instructions is to merely become a decent and caring person. This is not the end of our quest but only sets us up for the real beginning.

The scriptures teach that God is like a father and we are his children. Let us correspond this to our relationship with our children. When they are young we give them all sorts of commandments, or rules and expect obedience. If they obey they are considered good children and if not they are naughty and are usually given some sort of punishment.

BUT… this relationship does not continue forever. When they become adults rules from you are no longer necessary. Your guidance early on may make their adult life easier, but now they must move on to greater things.

When the kid leaves the nest the important thing for him to possess are skills and knowledge to be useful to society so he can be of service to his fellowmen and women.

Even so, when the churchgoer learns the basics through the schoolmaster of commandments and rules he must not rest on this achievement but onward move. Joseph Smith spoke truly when he said, “A man is saved no faster than he gets knowledge.” DHC 4:588

And what should we do with that knowledge?

“For behold, it is not meet that I should command in all things; for he that is compelled in all things, the same is a slothful and not a wise servant; wherefore he receiveth no reward.

“Verily, I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness; For the power is in them, wherein they are agents unto themselves. And inasmuch as men do good they shall in nowise lose their reward.”

D&C 58:26-28

Here we have two important things we must do that goes beyond standard obedience. We must gain knowledge and then apply this knowledge of our own free will in productive service.

Does this not sound a lot like what a child must do after he leaves home and strikes out on his own? The parent is no longer giving him commands, but expects him now to take his basic lessons, learn useful knowledge and accomplish something worthwhile.

Okay, let us say that you have learned the basics of regular religion, you’ve acquired what you can by practicing obedience for you are now approaching adulthood and see you must do things of your own free will to bring to pass much righteousness and good works.

Question: What are some of the steps that lie ahead for the seeker? What must he now accomplish?

Beyond Obedience

I ended a recent post with:

“Okay, let us say that you have learned the basics of regular religion, you’ve acquired what you can by practicing obedience for you are now approaching adulthood and see you must do things of your own free will to bring to pass much righteousness and good works.

“Question: What are some of the steps that lie ahead for the seeker? What must he now accomplish?”

We received an interesting assortment of answers such as establishing better soul contact, fine tuning virtues such as humility, independent thinking, self knowledge, balanced thinking, increasing love and will… These all head the disciple in the right direction.

Then the important word of “service” was brought up.

Why do you suppose the Higher Lives care and nurture us upon the path?

The whole idea is that we will progress to the extent that we can join them in the great Vineyard of the Lord and be of service to our fellow men and women. We can thus take some of the burden of the workload off the few who do useful spiritual service.

If we are to be useful servants what qualities must we develop? Here are a two.

(1) Make sure your labors are pointed in the right direction.

What good does it do to perform a lot of service if your labors support a work that does nothing to move the minds of people toward spirit?

Many who are willing to serve are merely obeying the commands of men who are substitutes for the inner voice of God. Their labors thus build up the kingdoms and the interests of selfish or deluded men rather than accomplishing something of real value.

The solution to this problem is establishing inner soul contact and getting confirmation that our labors are approved by the Spirit.

Okay, let us suppose you have freed yourself from the beast of outer authority. What is next?

Next you must labor in some work that has value to the progress of our fellow humans. This you can do as part of an established work that is endorsed by the inner voice or something self initiated.

How much value your labors will have will depend on the second thing that must be developed.

(2) Develop skills and talents so your labors can be effective and useful.

This is a point often overlooked by many seekers on the path. Many just want to obey some prophet or priest, have a spiritual experience and then wait to die and go to heaven.

That is not the path of true service. The valuable servant must make himself useful and develop some skills.

The parable of the talents teaches this idea. It is interesting that a talent in the days of Jesus was a sum of money, but the current meaning of the word is also appropriate. After all, we use our talents to make money in this world.

“For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

“Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.

“After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

“His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

“He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.

“His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

“Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

“His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.” Matt 25:14-29

This parable reveals to us that Jesus expected a good servant to do more than seek to achieve salvation and then burry his talents, but we must expand on what we have so we can be useful.

Yes, the scriptures tell us that God will use the weak things of the world to confound the mighty and strong, but when we examine those who have made a difference we see that the weakness was an illusion. Jesus was considered no one of importance by the authorities when he started his work, but it turned out he was a man of great skill and ability.

Then his apostles were also considered very ordinary by those in power, but it turned out that they had enough talent to change the world.

Even so, we as aspiring servants must develop some skills so we can be useful in building the kingdom.

Question:

If you were God what kind of skills would you look for in choosing someone to carry out your work?

Becoming Useful

The Question:

If you were God what kind of skills would you look for in choosing someone to carry out your work?

If you were a general you would find it valuable to have a group of soldiers who respect you and are willing to carry out your orders, but a willingness to obey will only take you so far.

Of what use would your soldiers be if they had no skills, especially if you were up against an enemy with very talented soldiers?

You would need some of the following talent:

Good marksmen and sharpshooters.

Translators

Motivators

Pilots

Cooks

Mechanics

Code breakers

Strategists and much more.

To think that all God wants in his servants is obedience to his commands is a great error. What great intelligence is there who wants to be surrounded with a bunch of syrupy-eyed sycophants who do nothing but worship at your feet? I personally would run from such a crowd.

Yes, it is important to for any leader to have people at his disposal who are in alignment with his goals, but in addition to needing the willing he also needs the talented and the able.

So, what kind of talent is needed by those servants who seek to carry out the will of God? Quite a few things are helpful for the seeker to possess. Here are a few.

(1) He makes good use of his time.

I list this as number one because the development of just about every talent you can think of requires time, often at a sacrifice of some pleasure.

A disciple who claims to be willing and able to follow Higher Will yet uses his free time frivolously will not be of much use when needed.

(2) Communication skills

The fulfillment of Higher Will usually involves some type of message that needs to be communicated to the public. It is very helpful to have workers who can communicate that message accurately and as widely as possible.

(3) Writing ability

I could have included this with communication skills, but it is so important that it deserves a category of its own.

Because of the internet people are writing more than they ever have in history. We have available now more writings that are both good and bad than we could have imagined a few years ago.

Because there is so much material people’s attention span has diminished and good writing skill has become more important than ever, or else the text may never get read or just glossed over.

Of course, the first step to good writing is to get the basics of grammar down, but after that the most important thing a person can do is just write. Most successful writers are good because they have written a lot. Writing courses are always helpful but nothing beats practice.

Fortunately with Facebook and other mediums there is plenty of opportunity to practice. It is good practice to find interesting posts and comment on them in a thoughtful way or create a blog to post your thoughts.

Any writing skill that a seeker develops will follow him from life to life and prove useful in the vineyard of the Lord.

If not this life maybe the next you’ll write something revered as a work that elevated the spirits of humanity.

(4) Likeability and charisma.

People do not listen to or follow anyone that they do not personally like. The good thing is a pleasing personality can be acquired. Books like “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie are always useful tools for the seeker to absorb.

(5) Become self sufficient.

Being poor is greatly overrated. How many seekers do you know who really want to dedicate themselves to spiritual work, but cannot do so because they are worried about paying the bills? The answer is way too many. Financial worries are a tremendous distraction from spiritual work.

Unfortunately, a lot of seekers suffer financial distress because of a lack of talent or focus in earning a living. This sometimes demonstrates as a lack of talent in furthering a spiritual work.

A seeker should develop enough talent to be self sufficient in the world so worldly cares do not consumed him and distract him from some type of free will service with his spare time.

If a disciple’s main talent is making money then he can assist by donating to those workers with other talents. Money is an essential ingredient in furthering any movement, spiritual or otherwise and many good ideas die or stagnate for lack of financial support.

(6) Good health

Like financial distress, bad health can be a tremendous distraction from the spiritual work.

An important ability that each disciple should attempt to master are the laws of good health. Most people with good health did not acquire it by accident, but because they pay attention to their diet, got the needed exercise and practiced positive thinking, for energy follows thought.

I’ve read quite a few health books and it is amazing how many authors became interested in healthy living because of a life threatening illness earlier in life. Many of them tell stories of how they suffered intensely and were actually looking forward to death and something turned their life around.

Yes, the body you were born with and your karma has an effect, but in most cases the disciple can maintain good health if he gains and applies the knowledge that is readily available.

(7) Other

There are many other talents that can be put to use in spiritual service such as

Music

Public speaking

Acting

Finance

Mathematics

Computer related skills

Creative thinking

Building – construction – repair.

Manufacturing

The list could go on and on for many are the talents required by the various spiritual enterprises in order to elevate the planet into the new age.

A reader basically asked me why the good guys are not able to accomplish more despite making great attempts to use their talents.

As I have noted in the past the Brotherhood have given disciples too much help and this caused various movements to begin, but they turned out to be greatly flawed or outright failures. The decision now is to leave humanity on its own as much as possible. This is a slower process demanding more patience, but the results will be more positive and long lasting.

You’ll notice that in this present time the closer a teacher is to pure s spiritual truth the more difficult it is for him to make progress. Unless he gets supernatural help this will always be the case.

The task of true teachers at this point in time is to use all the talent they have to move the work ahead. If one path doesn’t work then he must use another and another until he finds something that does work. I get internal guidance from time to time but as far as figuring out what works in promoting my teachings I am on my own.

One of my recent changes was to post an original thought each day on Facebook. This is slowly gaining traction and seems to be worth continuing. Also coming to Facebook around a year ago was another change. This gives us more exposure than Yahoo Groups did.

So, in summary the basic answer is this. There is a solution to every problem. If what one is doing is not working, stop and analyze and ask yourself what changes can be made to become more successful? It is usually different for each individual.

Overcoming Physical Death

Subject under question: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death. Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death. Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?” John 8:51-53

John 11:26 “And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?” Here we are told that if we follow the words of Jesus we will never die.

Question: Would Jesus teach something that He would not demonstrate? The whole world believes that Jesus died on the cross, but did he really? Is it possible that he practiced and demonstrated his teachings of overcoming death?

Is it also possible that the words of Christ can enable us to never die also?

Several of you were on the right track of the answer here. The overcoming of death, not only for Him but for others who were willing to listen to his teachings, was a major item presented by Jesus. Over and over he said things like: “If a man keeps my saying, he shall never see death.” Then he talked about eating the manna that comes from heaven so you will never die. John 6:50

How can a Master rightfully teach us that we shall never die if He does not demonstrate the principle himself? Contrary to popular belief, Jesus did demonstrate exactly what he taught.

By all practical reasoning it did seem that Jesus died on the cross. Not only was His body lifeless, but he was placed in a sealed tomb for three days. One would naturally assume that a mortally wounded body lying in state for three days would have to be dead. Even if He still had some life in him after being taken down from the cross He couldn’t have lasted long without someone nursing him back to health, right? Remember that in addition to the crucifixion a Roman soldier cut His side open with a sword to make sure He was dead.

The truth is that the Christ did not desert Jesus as He initially believed, but stepped outside the body while Jesus was on the cross. During this period He was not living in the body with Jesus, but was still connected with Him and used His higher knowledge to preserve the life force and to insure that the silver cord would remain intact for three days.

Thus when Jesus spoke the words: “Father into thy hands I commend my Spirit,” He did not die, but merely left His body for a period of three days. During this period He visited both the lower and higher spheres of what is called the Spirit World and taught the glorious message that even physical death does not have to have a hold on us, that the body can be raised up and restored by the power of God.

A beautiful account of this is found in the Aquarian Gospel as quoted below from chapter 172:

25 The garden of Siloam was silent on the Sabbath day; the Jewish soldiers watched and no one else approached the tomb; but on the following night the scene was changed.

26 At midnight every Jewish soldier heard a voice which said, Adon Mashich Cumi, which meant, Lord Christ arise.

27 And they supposed again that friends of Jesus were alert, were coming up to take the body of their Lord away.

28 The soldiers were alert with swords unsheathed and drawn, and then they heard the words again.

29 It seemed as though the voice was everywhere, and yet they saw no man.

30 The soldiers blanched with fear, and still to flee meant death for cowardice, and so they stood and watched.

31 Again, and this was just before the sun arose, the heavens blazed with light, a distant thunder seemed to herald forth a coming storm;

32 And then the earth began to quake and in the rays of light they saw a form descend from heaven. They said, Behold an angel comes.

33 And then they heard again, Adon Mashich Cumi. 34 And then the white-robed form tramped on the Roman seal and then he tore it into shreds; he took the mighty stone in hand as though it were a pebble from the brook, and cast it to the side.

35 And Jesus opened up his eyes and said, All hail the rising sun; the coming of the day of righteousness!

36 And then he folded up his burial gown, his head bands and his coverings and laid them all aside.

37 He rose, and for a moment stood beside the white-robed form.

38 The weaker soldiers fell upon the ground, and hid their faces in their hands; the stronger stood and watched.

39 They saw the body of the Nazarene transmute; they saw it change from mortal to immortal form, and then it disappeared.

40 The soldiers heard a voice from somewhere; yea, from everywhere, it said,

41 Peace, peace on earth; good will to men.

42 They looked, the tomb was empty and the Lord had risen as he said.

43 The soldiers hastened to Jerusalem, and to the priests, and said,

44 Behold, the Nazarene has risen as he said; the tomb is empty and the body of the man is gone; we know not where it is. And then they told about the wonders of the night.

The disciple Jesus awoke, and his body was restored to health. Then His body was folded into the idea behind the form and transported to another location.

The new teaching I promised you today is the concept that Jesus underwent a process that meant certain death just as revealed in the scriptures and he was in the tomb for three days, but technically He never really died for his silver cord was never severed.

Even though He taught this to certain disciples, many in the early church, including Paul, wanted to believe that He actually died and taught this as truth. Because the fundamentalists today esteem the words of Paul as even more reliable than Jesus, they would have much difficulty in accepting this idea.

Nevertheless, this knowledge is an important part of the teachings of the Christ. An essential part of His mission was to demonstrate that if a person becomes one with God that he will never die.

Question: Is this still a possibility today? Can we still partake of the manna from heaven and never taste physical death as Jesus taught?

Love-Wisdom

Love-Wisdom

A reader’s comment on love caused me some reflection. It is true that the teachings I present sound a fairly mental note and we have not yet talked a lot about the Love principle, but I would submit to you that this does not indicate a lack of love flowing through this group. I have been with people who use the word love in every other word and have felt very little actual love flow. On the other hand, I have been with people rarely using the word vocally, yet in their actions and heart the energy definitely resonates to a high degree.

I know that she was not implying a lack of love in this group, but that her thoughts were more in the direction that there are other aspects of it that are available other places that may not be had here. This may be true to a degree, especially when we consider solar plexus love which is very outward in its demonstration.

I would submit the idea that there is a very high degree of love energy circulating in this group even though love has not been the center of focus in the normal sense. From my point of view I am very satisfied with the love I feel circulating in the group, especially considering that our only contact is through the written word. I can only imagine what we would feel together if we could meet physically even once a week.

Let me give you one of my favorite quotes: “Before something can be loved, it must first be understood.” I was told that Leonardo Da Vinci said this but cannot confirm it. When I first heard this a jolt of confirmation went through my heart and soul.

Now consider this. Because love and understanding go hand in hand great illusion can be produced by turning the principle upside down: “You say you love me; therefore, you must understand me.” Whenever we feel that another loves us this is always accompanied by a feeling that this person understands us to a degree, that he has looked into our true selves and understands that something good is there.

What if a Catholic were to tell you that, “the Pope loves you”? How would you feel? Chances are you would think that the Pope could not love you because the Pope does not even know you exist. The Pope understands nothing about you; therefore, any expression of love from him means little except that he sees you as one of God’s creations.

True expressions of love coming from the true heart center are always sent on wings of understanding. It should be remembered that the heart center has twelve energy petals in two major divisions of Love and Wisdom. The heart center also has a reflection in the head center and energy circulates between the two. This causes a definite interlinking between heart and head, so Love is not complete unless the two work together as one.

The Tibetan Master, Djwhal Khul, said this through Alice A. Bailey:

“The heart as an aspect of pure reason requires careful consideration. It is usually considered the organ of pure love but-from the angle of the esoteric sciences-love and reason are synonymous terms, and I would have you reflect upon why this should be. Love is essentially a word for the underlying motive of creation. Motive, however, presupposes purpose leading to action, and hence in the group-life task of the incarnating Monad there comes a time when motive (heart and soul) becomes spiritually obsolete because purpose has reached a point of fulfillment and the activity set in motion is such that purpose cannot be arrested or stopped.

“Through the unfolding and use of the heart centre the love-wisdom aspect is similarly brought into use and the love of God is seen working out in a man’s life and work. For the mind of God is love, and the love of God is intelligence, and these two aspects of one great quality are brought into play for the working out of His will and purpose.

“Too much emphasis has been laid on that called love (interpreted by man, according to his present place in evolution) and not enough has been placed on wisdom, which is love expressing itself in service, such a service that recognizes the occult law, the significance of time, and the point achieved.”

Letters on Occult Meditation, Pages 285-286

Here he makes the interesting statement that “love and reason are synonymous terms.” One of the reasons he says this is because half of the heart center is composed of reason, wisdom and understanding. If emphasis is only placed on the Love expression alone then the heart will be a fading flower. On the other hand, if the emphasis is on logic alone then the heart will become sterile soil in which no flowers can grow. Love-Wisdom working together as one creates a heart that overflows with joy.

One thing that gratifies me about The Immortal book is that I get many letters telling me how the story touched the reader’s heart and many say they felt a great expression of love through the book. What makes these comments satisfying to me is that the only character in the book to say much about love was the bad guy, Philo. This tells me that the readers did not feel the love in the book because I shoved it in their face, but because they understand some of the feelings that were in my heart that I was attempting to convey in an imperfect language.

I want to tell the group that I do love you, collectively and individually, and everything that I do understand about you only increases this love. I also sense love coming back to me from you, and not only toward me but toward each other.

I have not said many direct words of love to the group, but I have sought to give you love through service as I have sacrificed many hours of sleep (and cuddling with my sweetie) to bring you these teachings.

 

Knowledge Within

Just a short comment on the all knowledge is within idea. This idea is an illusion as no knowledge is within. Shocked? If you do not believe me try and learn Spanish or about the history of Russia by going within. You will not be able to do it because regular knowledge is discovered by going without.

What is within is a sense in the soul that it has the ability to recognize true principles and the keys to finding all knowledge. When a true teacher teaches true principles the student can run them by the soul and receive confirmation. If the teacher’s principles ring true with the soul, time and time again, then he can gain a quantum of earned authority with the student.

The True Teacher

The True Teacher

Many new age gurus have read the works of Alice A. Bailey and presented teachings gained from her books as their own original material. Because her books are quite technical and difficult to read many students of such gurus are impressed that the material is original.

There are a number of teachers who claim to be channeling every master available who only present a rehash of Bailey and other writers.

It may be advantageous to present certain points to look for in a true representative of the Brotherhood and one who is under the illusionary path.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MISLEAD TEACHER

  1. The first thing to look at are the teachings he or she presents, for the Brotherhood of light does not like to repeat itself. If it does it is only for clarification purposes. A false teacher’s highest teachings will be a repeat of information that has already been revealed.
  2. The false teacher will teach in data and not principles. If there is anything new in his teachings it will be in the form of unprovable data.
  3. The false teacher will make fantastic predictions that do not Come true.
  4. The false teacher presents himself as a humble servant, but subtly works to draw attention to glorify himself and his ego.
  5. The false teacher will deceive when it furthers his purposes. Many just make up teachings and claim they came from God, the Christ or a master.
  6. The false teacher will usually emphasize teachings of the passing age, which is the age of Pisces at this time. The keynote of the passing age is sacrifice while it is service for the Age of Aquarius. Sacrifice of the members will be the greater focus for the false teacher.
  7. He will not offer you a way to prove to yourself that his teachings are true, but will want you to accept him through faith in his personality and claims. Those who are sure that he is correct are convinced through outer signs.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TRUE TEACHER.

  1. The bulk of his teachings will not be a repetition of writings already in existence. His or her teachings will either be new or throw new light on teachings already revealed.

Look at the two greatest in history, Jesus and Buddha. They may have quoted some from teachers of the past, but overall their core message was new and brought additional light to the world.

  1. The true teacher will stress principles more than unprovable data. Also, they will generally reveal and explain new principles.
  2. The true teacher is not infallible, but will be cautious in making fantastic predictions. The predictions he does make will be very reliable and will often be clothed in mystery as are the writings of John the Beloved and Nostradamus.
  3. The true teacher may be accused of being in the work for the ego, as even Jesus was, but in reality his prime goal will be service to humanity. He only seeks recognition for his true accomplishments, when it furthers the work, and will never seek the recognition that belongs to others.
  4. The true teacher will attempt to so live his life so he will never lie or deceive. If he does not achieve perfection in this he recognizes his mistake and seeks to correct it.
  5. The true teacher will emphasize the coming principles of the Aquarian age. He will not abandon the good of Pisces with its emphasis on sacrifice, but his main attention will be on the coming energies of service and innovation as we discussed earlier.
  6. The true teacher will teach students a path that will lead to verification through the soul and Spirit that the principles he teaches are true. Those who are convinced he is correct are sure because of powerful inner confirmation rather than outer signs or astral manifestations, even though outer signs may seem to manifest.

Never Taste Death

First Question:

“And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.” Matt 24:4-5

Has this prophecy been fulfilled?

There have been a number of people in history who have claimed to be the Christ but the prophecy extends further than that. Later in the chapter it talks about false prophets who will say such things as He is in the desert or secret chambers. We are warned here to not go to strange places expecting to meet Him. So far everyone who has made any prediction around the coming of Christ or of some location where He will be found has been wrong.

Glenys mentioned Benjamin Creme. I remember the first time I read the “words of Christ” as they were revealed through him. They left me completely flat. No new knowledge, principles or wisdom. Then somewhere around 1988 he came up to Boise to give a lecture. I thought I’d try and be open-minded and listen to him. I was surprised to hear him declare boldly that Christ was going to appear in about two months from the date of the lecture. He was going to be on television and his presence would be so powerful that the whole world would just know who he was and accept him.

Well two months passed and this glorious event did not happen. Later I heard he moved the event forward, but still it has now been over ten years and no mass TV appearance of the Christ with every eye recognizing Him.

Benjamin Creme was a student and personal acquaintance of Alice A. Bailey and he has a small amount of true data of the reappearance, but is caught up in a number of illusions and will continue to make false predictions.

It’s possible that someone may surface who claims to be Creme’s version of the Christ, but I assure you that such a one will not be able to speak words as beautiful as the Sermon on the Mount or give even one parable comparable to those of Jesus.

After we pass the year 2000 we are going to see more false Christs and prophets appear.

“For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” Matt 24:27

Several of the group gave some good correspondences here. Let me give you one that has not yet been mentioned. Most of the light and higher knowledge that has stimulated the West since 1945 has been from the teachings in the East. The idea of the Christ Consciousness could not have permeated our society had it not been on the wings of the light of the East.

The entire first stage of the Coming is due to the light of the east shining to the West. In addition to this Christ himself often dwells in a physical body in a hidden retreat in the East and it is possible He may travel to the West by orthodox means and begin teaching to certain prepared groups and then the world.

In Acts, chapter one, that was quoted yesterday we saw that only a few disciples saw Him ascend. Then two angels appeared and told them that the Second Coming will be similar to the event that they had just witnessed. If this is true it would mean that when he comes again that only a handful will recognize him at the initial event. Eventually every eye will see him, but this will happen over a period of time. We must remember that He plans on working directly with humanity in one form or another for a thousand years. After this mission is over He will leave this little planet for a time and another will assume the office of the Christ for an age.

There have been a number of interpretations of the words of Jesus on the cross about the Father forsaking him. Even Secret Places of the Lion has a different twist. But, as it is written in the Greek, the translation is accurate and we even have this rendering in the Gospel of the Nazarenes, thought to be translated from the oldest texts available.

The Christ was not being cruel in leaving Jesus on the cross for Jesus was an adept and not subject to physical pain against his will. This is evidenced in a fragment of the gospel of Peter which tells us that Jesus was laughing on the cross. He found several circumstances around the event somewhat amusing. However to finish his mission and what some teachers call the fourth initiation he had to finish the job alone.

The Christ did not completely withdraw, but only partially for a great purpose that has never been revealed before. A hint is revealed in these scriptures:

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death. Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death. Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?” John 8:51-53

“And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?” John 11:26. We are told that if we follow the words of Jesus we will never die.

Question: Would Jesus teach something that He would not demonstrate? The whole world believes that Jesus died on the cross, but did he really? Is it possible that he practiced and demonstrated his teachings of overcoming death?

Is it also possible that the words of Christ can enable us to never die also?

As Glenys said there are those who have varying beliefs about Jesus escaping death on the cross. The famous book, The Passover Plot put forth the theory that Jesus faked his death. He was not really resurrected, but with the cooperation of his disciples faked the death and resurrection. Another twist on this is that there was no plot but Jesus was just lucky enough to survive the ordeal and was revived.

Still another concept was presented by Seth that the real Jesus sent a disciple to be crucified for him. Since everyone thought Jesus was dead, they thought they crucified him. When the real Jesus showed up everyone thought he was resurrected.

None of these tells it correctly. The real Jesus was crucified and after the event, by all human standards, he was dead and seemed to be dead for three days.

There is a final event that must take place before a person is technically dead. What is it? A hint is given in Ecclesiastes 12:6-7.

Signs of the Return

Questions under consideration:

Does the Christ have to appear as an individual in a body of his own to fulfill the prophecy or could he appear in another way?

Answer: I want to stress again that the Christ consciousness and the entity who occupies the position of the Christ are two different things. The teachings circulated about the Christ Consciousness are the first step in the Second Coming. The Christ Consciousness itself will increase on the earth for thousands of years and will still be far from perfection in ordinary humanity any time soon.

Stages two and three involve the direct participation of the great entity who occupies the position of the Christ for this planet. Stage one deals with the general lifting up of general consciousness, but stages two and three will be more specific events.

As we previously mentioned, stage two deals with an overshadowing of certain disciples. This may involve a direct overshadowing by Christ himself or may also involve the participation of several masters in His inner circle. There are several degrees of overshadowing.

The first degree is where the Master touches the soul of the disciple and takes his aura within the circle of his direct influence. In this case the Master can loosely work with several disciples at a time, influencing and communicating with them to accomplish some great work. The overshadowed disciple realizes something is going on and believes that God or some great being is working through him. This type of overshadowing affected numerous great leaders in our past such as Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. Jesus also went through this first stage before his baptism.

The next degree of overshadowing is where a significant portion of the life essence of the Master actually enters into the body of the disciple and lives there with him for a time as two entities in one body. This is sometimes called a divine possession and this is what happened to Jesus at the baptism. The Spirit of God (the Christ Entity) descended as a dove and went into the body of Jesus. He then stayed with Jesus for three years. The Christ then left the body when Jesus was on the cross. This was when Jesus became concerned that he was forsaken by God. This is also why He made the comment: “it is finished.” He knew the mission of the Christ was finished as far as sharing a body was concerned. The Christ would normally have this second type of overshadowing with one disciple at a time because He as an entity must project his consciousness into time and space.

The third stage of the second Coming will happen then in one of two ways. The Christ will either fully overshadow a disciple and work through him as he did with Jesus 2000 years ago, or if the people of earth advance enough in spiritual preparedness He will come in a body of his own that He does not have to share with a disciple. This would be preferable because He will not be limited by the free will of the disciple who owns the body and would thus be able to perform a much more powerful work than did even Jesus.

If circumstances advance so He can come in a body of His own then that will be a glorious day for the planet, but one shrouded in mystery for it is not yet revealed how or even if that will transpire. He could be born as a babe, manifest out of the blue in a fully materialized adult body or travel here from a foreign country (in a jet plane through the clouds) in a body that He is currently using. Exactly how He is going to pull this off is His decision alone and because of world expectation, this Second Coming puts a pressure upon Him that only an entity of His evolution could handle.

In the last coming He had enough problems dealing with a primitive people, but in this one He must work with a global society where the whole world will be able to examine Him on TV from their living rooms. The differences between then and now are overwhelming.

The scripture reads: “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.” Rev 1:7

There are a lot of ways He could come in the clouds besides physically floating through them. In this age, as I said, he could fly through the clouds in a plane and as He lands in an airport the image of Him could be visible to every eye who wants to look at a TV. Clouds could represent higher consciousness that would be seen by every eye to some degree.

Whatever the case, when all is said and done we will find the prophesies are accurate, but events will not happen as the masses expect, just like last time.

So what does it mean that “all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him?” This is actually a reference to the Sign of the Son of man which is the major sign that His coming is near. New readers are advised to read in the archives about this or it may not make a lot of sense to you.

The Sign of the Son of Man was the explosion of the atomic bomb in 1945 which did indeed make all kindreds of the earth grieve and become gravely concerned about the future of the planet. From 1945 to the present, Stage One of the Second Coming has also been put into effect and much progress has been made.

Question: “How could those who “pierced him” be here to see Him when he comes?”

Isn’t it a fitting masterpiece of the justice of God to have the very individuals who put the Lord of Light to death, for whom He prayed for forgiveness, to have these same individuals reincarnated and delivered to the same Christ, and greet him with a painful awareness of their sins? For some of these people (if they accept him) the Master will have great joy, like that of the Shepherd who found his lost sheep. Others will continue to follow the dark path.

Here are several other signs of the Master’s Coming.

Has this prophecy been fulfilled?

What is the fulfillment of this prophecy?

Here is another prediction: “And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” Acts 1:9-11

Fundamentalists see only one way this can be fulfilled and that is to have Jesus come floating down in the air from the clouds. What could be another way this prediction could be fulfilled?

Most Bible believers believe that everyone on the earth will see Him at one time when he comes, but this scripture gives us a clue in the opposite direction. We are told in this scripture that circumstances around his Second Coming will be similar to His ascension as described here. How many here saw him go into heaven? Will a similar number experience the beginning of his return?

What is the fulfillment of this prophecy?
