The Sacred Planets

The Sacred Planets

DK tells us that there are seven sacred planets in our solar system. They are Vulcan (a hidden planet), Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.

The rest of the known planets are not sacred, which are the Earth and Mars. Pluto was classified as a non-sacred planet by DK, but has now been downgraded by astronomers to a dwarf planet because of its small size. Nevertheless, it is still considered a planet esoterically.

After Alice A. Bailey died there have been three additional dwarf planets discovered beyond the orbit of Pluto which are Haumea, Makemake, and Eris. One additional was known in her lifetime which is Ceres. In her day it was considered the largest asteroid.

DK specifically tells us that in addition to the Earth, Mars and Pluto that there are two additional non sacred planets that were veiled in his day. (See Esoteric Healing, Page 507)

He also indicates that there are three hidden sacred planets for he speaks of the “seven planets at its densest point and three hidden.” A Learning Experience, Page 65

Apparently, there are quite a few others that are not classified as either sacred or non-sacred for he speaks of “many ‘hidden’ planets. Of these, the Ageless Wisdom claims that there are around seventy in our solar system.” Esoteric Astrology, Page 6

These 70 could include numerous undiscovered dwarf planets, as well as several undiscovered larger planets. Included in this figure are a number of planets that exist in the etheric matter and are invisible to the eyes of scientists.

Then concerning “lesser planetary bodies he says “There are more than 115 of such bodies to be reckoned with, and all are at varying stages of vibratory impulse.” TCF, Page 793

He could be referring to the larger asteroids and the smaller dwarf planets. Some may be made of etheric substance and invisible to telescopes.

Out of all these bodies there are seven in dense matter which are considered sacred planets. The earth is not yet achieved this status, but is expected to in the near future. The fact that it is on the threshold of the transition is evidenced by the statement that the earth is “subjectively considered is a sacred planet; the effects of this transition from non-sacred to sacred have not fully demonstrated themselves objectively.       Rays and Initiations, Page 414

After the full transition is made there will be eight but, “Eventually, there will be twelve sacred planets, corresponding to the twelve constellations, but the time is not yet.” A Treatise on White Magic, Page 438

After a student sees several references to sacred and non-sacred planets he begins to wonder exactly what a sacred planet is and what makes it different from a non-sacred one.

It is somewhat astonishing that DK says he cannot tell us:

“The reason which makes a planet sacred or not is one of the secrets of a certain major initiation, and I may not further elucidate here.” Esoteric Psychology, Vol 1, Page 335,

Even so, DK does give us a number hints on the subject. Here is one when writing about the war in heaven:

“In every grouping,—whether in heaven or on earth—there is always evidenced a tendency by some units in the group to revolt, to rebel and to show some form of initiative different to that of the other units in the same grouping. When our solar universe came into being, we are told in the allegorical language of the ancient scriptures, there “was war in Heaven”; “the sun and his seven brothers” did not function with true unanimity; hence (and herein lies a hint) our Earth is not one of the seven sacred planets.” Psychology, Vol 1, Page 394

We see here that among the sun and the seven brothers there was a revolt and this gives us a hint as to why the earth is not a sacred planet. How does this make sense since the earth was not one of the seven?

To make use of the hint we must discover which of the seven sacred planets was the rebel.

Actually, DK makes this pretty clear for he tells us that Saturn is the only sacred planet on which there is pain and sorrow and difficulty.” Esoteric Psychology, Vol 2, Page 98

The cause of this pain is that “Saturn, therefore, ‘fell’ when man fell into generation. He ‘followed the sons of men down into their low place.’” Esoteric Astrology, Page 105

That low place was the earth, but how was it that Saturn followed the sons of men here? The key to understanding this is coming to the realization that Sanat Kumara, while being “The Planetary Logos of our earth scheme (is) one of the Seven Spirits before the throne.” Initiation Human and Solar, Page 28

Since the earth logos is not one of the seven this means that Sanat’s true home is a sacred planet, and not the earth. Which of the seven would that be? DK is hesitant to tell us:

“Sanat Kumara alone, in this scheme, is self-sustaining and self-sufficient, being the physical incarnation of one of the Planetary Logoi, which one it is not permissible to state, as this fact is one of the secrets of initiation. Initiation Human and Solar, Page 39

Many just assume he is the incarnation of the planetary logos of the earth but DK tells us he is one of the seven spirits that preside over the seven sacred planets, but he does not have permission to tell us which one.

Actually, I think it is pretty obvious which sacred planet is his.

We are told that Sanat is on the third ray of active intelligence, as well as the earth. Which of the sacred planets is also on the third ray?

That would be Saturn.

“Both the Earth and Saturn (one a non-sacred and one a sacred planet) are exponents or expressions of the third Ray of Active Intelligence.” Esoteric Astrology, Page 189

The fact that “Venus, Earth and Saturn form one triangle of great interest.” TCF, Page 181 coupled with the fact that the Lord of Saturn “followed the sons of men down into their low place” tells us that Saturn would be Sanat Kumara’s point of origin as one of the seven Spirits.

We are told that “The love and thought of that divine Life (the Solar Logos) is turned towards this “little daughter of a long lost son”, as our planet is sometimes called in the occult books of the Great Ones.      A Treatise on White Magic, Pg 314

The little daughter is identified as the earth, but who would be the “long lost son”?

Again, that would be the Logos of Saturn who “followed the sons of men down into their low place.”

So what exactly caused the Lord of Saturn (a sacred planet) to fall to the earth (A non sacred one)?

The previous solar system was governed by the third ray of intelligent activity and in that system, Sanat Kumara became a master of that aspect. It is natural and good that when one step is achieved to relax a little and enjoy and use its benefits, but then the temptation is to stay there too long and avoid taking your next step.

A hint about how this problem may apply to Sanat Kumara and ray three is given here:

“The planetary Logos of our Earth is primarily conditioned by a cosmic ray, to be sure, but not by His egoic ray. Perhaps in this condition may be found the reason (or one of the reasons) why our Earth is not one of the seven sacred planets. On this I need not enlarge, but it was necessary to call attention to this great determining factor, the third ray, which is the personality ray of our planetary Logos…This ray brings in the factor of discrimination through mental activity, and this, in its turn, balances the so-called love nature, and it is in truth the cause of our evolutionary growth.” Esoteric Psychology, Vol 1, Pages 335-336, 338

We are told some interesting things here that would be easy to overlook. Our logos is primarily conditioned by a cosmic ray, but not the egoic. The cosmic ray governing this solar system is Ray Two, Love-Wisdom. The egoic ray is three – Intelligence in Matter and governs the personality of our Logos. Concerning this we are told to “Forget not that the Personality of our planetary Logos is not yet perfect, hence the fact that His body of manifestation, the planet, is not reckoned as being one of the sacred planets.” Externalization of the Hierarchy, Page 87

The focus of our Logos is on the Love Wisdom, but using the intelligence from the third ray or his personality imperfectly. To become a sacred planet he must harmonize Ray Three with Ray Two to become a sacred planet.

This is a higher correspondence to aspiring humanity. We must bring our lower nature into alignment with the higher to become soul infused and achieve the higher initiations. Similarly, our Logos has to do the same on a higher level to become a sacred planet.

His next great step depends largely on the progress of humanity. Humanity’s focus needs to shift away from the lower personality to the Higher Self and DK gives a sign as to when this shift will happen which is an extension of my last quote:

“When humanity will have solved correctly the Jewish problem, and when it has been resolved in a humanitarian and sound manner, then the energy of the planetary solar plexus centre will have been raised to the heart and a great transmutation will have taken place.”

The Jews are on Ray Three, the personality ray of our Logos, and the conflict associated with them over the millennia is a symbol of the imperfection of the personality of our logos. Their achievement of harmony with other races will be a sign that our Logos has achieved the advancement necessary to become a sacred planet.

DK speaks of “the force which brings about the fusion or integration of the personality, the at-one-ment of personality and soul, the unification of humanity or the Great Approach of the Hierarchy to Humanity. It will produce also the integration of our Earth into the body of the “sacred planets” Esoteric Astrology, Page 482

So in the most basic terms we can say that a sacred planet is one that has perfected the personality aspect and put it under control of the Higher Self. The planet is working on the same goal as is the individual disciple, but just on a higher level.

The seven planets that are sacred have intelligent life but the focus of that life is not on the dense physical plane as it is on earth. We are told that “the seven Heavenly Men, whose bodies they are, function normally on the fourth plane of the system, the buddhic or the fourth cosmic ether.” TCF, Page 123

Life on this fourth cosmic ether is totally invisible to our earth scientists.

The seven logoi of the seven sacred planets are not perfect. DK says that “The seven Spirits, we are told in the Scriptures of the world, are ‘before the Throne of God’; this signifies that They are not yet in a position to mount the Throne, symbolically speaking, owing to the fact that They have not yet achieved complete divine expression.” Esoteric Healing, Page 298

Each of them are on different rays, and though highly evolved, are still working to express them in perfection.

Vulcan, the hidden planet is on Ray One, the ray of Will-Power and Purpose.

Mercury is on Ray Four of Harmony through Conflict stimulating creativity.

Venus is on Ray Five, the Ray of Concrete Knowledge.

Jupiter is on Ray Two of Love-Wisdom, the same as the Solar Logos.

Uranus is on Ray seven of ceremonial magic and synthesis which governs the approaching age of Aquarius.

Neptune is on Ray Six which presents the ideal accompanied by powerful emotion. This is the ray governing the passing age of Pisces.

Saturn, most closely associated with our logos, is on Ray Three as is the Earth. This demonstrates intelligent activity, especially in relation to matter.

Even though Sanat Kumara may be the original Lord of Saturn, and has descended to the earth to assist humanity, the actual Logos remains. Each planet has a core logos assisted by an advanced being who represents that logos. Sanat Kumara was its representative, but now represents the Logos of Earth. Since Saturn is still a sacred planet one would assume that another entity has been appointed to represent Saturn’s Logos until Sanat completes his work with the earth.

All the major planetary bodies radiate their influence throughout the solar system.  The influence of the sacred planets is picked up by disciples with a degree of soul contact and the planets that are not sacred are picked up by general humanity.

The Gathering of Lights, Chapter 4

Radiation

Seven other planets in our system have taken part in a great interplay. These are called the “seven sacred planets” in esoteric literature. At present, they do not have physical life on the surface as we know it, though they may have had in the past, but spiritual life forms inhabit their higher spheres. For the present, our solar system can only have seven radioactive planets and remain stable, and our earth is next in line for such transfiguration. When this transition occurs a highly evolved radioactive planet will be drawn out of its orbit and join (most probably) with Jupiter as one of its moons. Then a new planet on the arc of descent will cloth itself in matter and come into physical being to take the place of the one which has departed. This new planet is already created and exists in a higher grade of matter that is not yet seen by our physical eyes.

These seven radioactive planets are a correspondence to the “seven Spirits which are before his throne.” Rev 1:4 The Sun is the correspondence to the throne. Then on the microcosmic level we have the “even Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.” Rev 5:6 These are seven Avatars who personify the energies emitted by the seven great planets.

On the macrocosmic side we have the seven Rishis of the great bear, commonly known as the seven stars of the Big Dipper as the positive representatives of these energies and the seven stars of the Pleides as the negative correspondence. The seven sacred planets are as representatives of the Great Bear and the seven corresponding energies within the Sun interplay with the Pleiades. The interplay of forces must always be between positive and negative polarities. There is also an interplay between the seven stars of the Great Bear and the Pleiades. Astrologers have intuitively called the seven “sisters of the Pleiades” the “wives of the Great Bear. Indeed they represent female energies relating to the male energies of the Big Dipper. The throne of God in this case is represented by one of the stars of the Big Dipper. Remember that one of the pointers on the big Dipper is a double star so there is one extra star for the throne.

On a larger scale we have the galaxy of the Milky Way itself. There are seven divisions among all these stars which represent these seven energies on the positive side and seven others which interplay on the negative side with a great governing star representing the throne. This star is called Kolob in the Mormon scriptures. There are other clusters of stars till which correspond to the twelve signs of the Zodiac on a higher scale.

You will notice that there are certain numbers which are associated with divinity in the scriptures an other inspired writings: 1, 3, 7, 12, and multiples thereof. We have the “one God”, the three personages of the trinity, the seven spirits before the throne, seven days, seventy missionaries, seven loaves of bread, we are to forgive 70 times seven, the apostles chose seven helpers, the Book of Revelations is to the seven churches, John saw seven angels with seven trumpets and even a beast with seven heads.

Concerning the number twelve we find that there are twelve tribes of Israel. Joshua selected twelve men to cross the river Jordan and Jesus (Greek for Joshua) selected twelve apostles. Jesus’ first words were recorded at the age of twelve, there were twenty four (2 x 12) Elders before the throne and Christ had with him 144,000 (12 x 12000) saints.

All of this will hopefully give the reader a perspective so we can approach the subject of Israel with the correct humility for becoming an Israelite and approaching radioactivity are correspondences. Perhaps “becoming an Israelite” is an erroneous wording here for the power of Israel is in every man. “Recognizing the Israel within ourselves” may be a more correct term, for until it is recognized it is as if it did not exist. We’re like the prodigal son who thought he could no more be a son, for he felt sure his father would disown him, but to this joy the father welcomed him with opened arms.

Israel consists of those great beings who radiate the will of God throughout our galaxy yet realize the great injunction of Christ: “if any desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.” Mark 9:35. No other presence in our solar system demonstrates this law more faithfully than our Sun. Everything in our solar system is dependent on it, and receives from it much more than it gives. The Sun, being first, becomes the

last in the system to receive. Thus Israelites in human form within the Kingdom of God follow this same general principle. They often leave their own planet and seek to serve others not so highly progressed on the Path. Our Earth has been the recipient those who prevail as god, gods from the sky, or Israelites a number of times. These Israelites have passed the candle lighting the God within many others native to this earth creating the foundation for a great light that is beginning to fill this little planet.
