Ringing Cedars Books, Part 3
I’ve given a few details from my book report on Vladimir Megre’s nine books. Now I’ll give you my views on the positives and negatives.
First, the negative. Parts of the writings are quite fanciful and unbelievable. Anastasia has more power than is credible. If she truly had such powers then she alone could bring peace on earth pretty much by herself.
She attributes her great intelligence to being raised in the wild away from corrupting influences yet in real life those raised apart from much human contact usually suffer from stunted development.
It is fairly incredible that she is one of a kind and there are not more of her. She also does not mention the Masters. She may not agree with them if she did know of them for she doesn’t believe in hierarchy. At the same time, it is ironic that she is becoming a hierarchical head of a new world movement that many are looking to for guidance.
She teaches that our planet is the only place in the universe with humans like ourselves. There is life on other planets but they are not in the image of God.
This does not register with me correctly as I believe that there are many worlds out there with humans equal to ourselves, though such worlds may be somewhat far apart. The concept of the spiritual Hierarchy is built on the principle that many solar systems have passed away that were inhabited by humans that evolved into higher beings that now nurture the lower lives.
Her accumulating the power to physically teleport herself to any place in the universe, a power she acquired on her own with no teacher, is pretty fantastic. The coming alien invasion also stretches the imagination and looks like it was modeled after the television series “V”.
If she is an advanced spiritual being then why did she seduce a married man? Another mystifying thing is that Vladimir rarely mentions his wife and her reaction though he does say she was not jealous and accepted what happened. Doesn’t sound anything like the reaction I would get from my wife or any other wives I know.
Overall, Anastasia seems to be against technology and teaches that living close to nature will make you smarter and more developed. I conceded that being close to nature has its virtues but so does technology. If one compares those closest to nature in our real world with those who have the most advanced technology there is quite a difference. Obviously, those who live in the wilds, as does Anastasia, are the tribal people and these people do all kinds of things at we would not want to incorporate. They practice everything from cannibalism, to mutilation, to deforming their bodies to human sacrifice. As these people are introduced to our civilization along with technology they cease doing these things.
In our country, those living closest to Anastasia’s ideal would be the Amish. These people do not seem to have any spiritual or intellectual advantage over the rest of us except that their society as a whole is fairly peaceful. But they are fairly dogmatic and their main source of learning is the Bible to exclusion of many things civilization has available.
The detailed story of one little girl in the future forcing the nations to lay down their arms is very fanciful. A lot of people with a belief similar to Vladimir present the idea that children are really smarter than we are and we should listen to them. While it is true that there is a time and place to be childlike the hard truth is that children need direction from adults much more than the other way around. He does have a point though that the way we educate our children needs reform and they are capable of self-learning much more than educators realize.
He writes that we all should have a hector of land, which is about two and a half acres. This actually is possible in Russia since there are about 30 acres available for each person or about 100 for each family if all the land were equally divided. Russia has about four times the land per person as the United States. Other nations are so densely populated that a hector of land for each family would be impossible. For instance, Monaco has about 66 people for each acre available and Singapore has about 29. The United Kingdom has about one acre per person.
One must also keep in mind that much of the land on the planet is not usable for farming.
Overall I am prone to believe that the books are a combination of fact and fiction. He may have met a person who inspired him to create the character of Anastasia but I do not think she is to be taken literally. In fact, he hints at the idea that Anastasia is what we want her to be.
Does this then mean that Vladimir is not fulfilling the prophecy of creating the great new religion that is promised to come out of Russia?
Reader Comment: “I found it a very dry read in terms of entertainment and VERY thin in terms of spiritual teaching and likely would not have continued reading it had it not been the topic of conversation here. I did manage to finish it.”
JJ: Overall, I agree and not sure if the official translation is much better than the one you read. I found the books fairly dry going and then there would be a period where they would keep my interest.
The main reason I decided to read them is because of the wide circulation and acclaim they are receiving. It is no small feat to sell 10 million new age books, starting in Russia as a base. I always try to keep abreast of what is popular in the various spiritual movements.
Of the nine books, books 1 and 4 are the most interesting.
Reader: “In my opinion, it is NOTHING like ‘The Immortal,’ at least this possibly different version.”
JJ: I know I’m biased, but it amazes me that this series sells many millions and mine has only sold a few thousand. I’ve always felt that the right trigger could cause The Immortal to be a best seller.
That said let us move on to the positive aspects of the series.
First, the books stress returning to nature and living in harmony with it. The teachings minimize attention on technology but are not fanatical about not using it.
Now, as I said, good takes us forward into the future and progress and evil causes us to retrogress. But as we move forward into the good, we do not leave the good of the past behind. We take that which works and add it to the newly discovered which also works.
Living in harmony with nature will always be a good thing. It would only be evil if those attempting to do this became so dogmatic that they do not see other good things developing on the horizon.
It is a good thing that he has sold millions of copies and stimulated the minds of the Russian people who have been so suppressed in the past. They seem to have stimulated a new hope and faith in many.
Is he creating the prophesied religion? After all, he says he has no desire to start one. Even so, many see Anastasia through the eyes of religious devotion.
Since the fall of communism many cults have arisen in Russia but of them all I would say that Vladimir’s teachings are the only ones that come close to fulfilling the prophesy. If it isn’t him then a more enlightened one is to come.
One must keep in mind that the new religion is not likely to be a perfect one, but merely one that will give the people a new direction and hope.
There are several simple ideas presented by Vladimir that many in Russia are embracing with religious devotion.
The advantages of having your own piece of land, becoming self-sufficient and growing your own food. Because communism did not allow for private ownership this idea seems more exciting to Russians than perhaps to us.
The teaching that plants have a consciousness and seek to serve humankind. They are sensitive to the caregiver’s thoughts and touch and actually adjust the structure of the food they yield to benefit their caregiver.
This means that the healthiest food you can eat is that which you grow yourself because the plants will adjust their ingredients to benefit you.
He teaches that prisoners can become much more harmless and productive if they are each give a piece of ground to nurture and raise their own food.
He presents interesting ideas of educating children by using less structure and guiding them toward more self-discovery and self-learning.
He presents the image of a superwoman who is almost seen as a goddess by many to which many are giving an almost religious devotion. Readers are claiming they feel her thoughts and sense her watching over them. Looking at it logically Anastasia is probably a more sensible religious icon than many presently in use. With so many readers there is bound to be a powerful thoughtform of her emerging and I expect stories of visitations soon, if they have not already happened.
The teachings emphasize peaceful co-existence and harmony. If they spread then perhaps Russia will cease being a threat to the world and become the big helpful brother that Djwahl Khul said she would become.
One must also keep in mind that Djwahl Khul has told us that the religion of the future will be much different than the religion of the past. Whereas the religion of the past was black and white, dogmatic and highly structured the coming religion(s) will be a more natural evolution. People as a whole will recognize spiritual principles and incorporate them. Just as Christmas and the giving spirit of the times is universally seen as something good to observe so will humanity recognize certain universal principles and observe them without dogmatism.
Note from 2025. Here is the current situation with the movement according to Grok:
The movement emphasizes establishing “kin’s homesteads” (self-sufficient plots of land, ideally at least one hectare, for families to live in harmony with nature). By 2020, the movement had already inspired over 400 such settlements in Russia alone, with ongoing expansion globally.
The books are translated into 20 languages resulting in the establishment of reader groups in countries like Australia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Lithuania, and the United States.
