Setting the Record Straight

Setting the Record Straight

In any type of spiritual work you run into critics. This is a case where a reader seemed to have a chip on his shoulder. Instead of giving an accurate criticism he seemed to project illusionary attitudes and beliefs I do not have and criticize them. Hopefully my answers help readers receive a clear idea of my thinking.

After reading my mission story a reader says this: I enjoyed being the senior companion and delighted in taking responsibility, but unlike what JJ seemed to communicate, I did not take glory in “being in charge of the work”. The one in change of the work was always the Lord, and we merely sought direction at his hand.

JJ: I hope no one else got this extremely distorted idea of how I think. If I projected the idea that I was taking “glory” in being in charge I would like to hear feedback on this.

I wanted to be in charge because I saw how to get the job done that wasn’t being done. I never seek to be in charge just to be in charge or for the sake of my own glory. If someone else can do a job well then I am happy to let them go and do not seek to replace them. The only areas where I seek to be in charge are those where I believe the job is not being adequately served in the present or if no one is doing useful work in an area of my interest.

By your reasoning here Jesus was seeking glory to himself because he sought to lead the apostles because no one else was qualified or available.

Would you think a Spanish teacher is seeking glory because he seeks to be in charge of his own class because he can speak and teach Spanish better than the students?

Personal glory has absolutely nothing to do with someone will a skill seeking to use it if the ego is placed aside.

Then he quotes me as saying this: “For instance, I am writing this account from memory as I did not keep a journal.”

Reader: That is pretty amazing, but I do get the impression that part of these stories, while interesting, is fictional.

JJ: The whole story is true and no part of it is made up. Some of the dialog may not be exact but it all accurately represents what happened. If I present any fiction, I will state it as such if it is not obvious.

Reader: I am with you to this point, but I am sensing the impression from this and your other writings that you believe are the only person who has ever thought about intelligence, and the only one capable of writing a book about it.

JJ: Wow, what have you been smoking today? I know a lot of people have written and thought about intelligence and never claimed a corner on the market. I do think I could present a unique perspective, but so do thousands of other people who write books on various subjects. That is why they write books. No one wants to clone material from others when they write.

Reader: There is a hell of a lot of stuff in this life that we are supposed to learn and discover. Wouldn’t it be a lot more fun if we were all free to learn and explore and experiment, and then share this information with each other without some thinking that they are entitled to do all the learning and experimenting, and others thinking that the best they have to hope for is experiencing life second-hand?

JJ: So you think that others here are not “free to learn and explore and experiment, and then share…”

You seem to be pretty free to do this just as you are now doing. Where do you get such an idea???

Then you think some (namely me) are entitled to do all the learning, experimenting and sharing.

I think you need to examine your belief system to see why you would come up with such an accusation. There may be an aspect of yourself you are not seeing.

You seem to be trying to say that I should just step aside as a teacher and turn the Keys into a free-for-all forum like most of the other sites.

If I want to learn Spanish, for example, the last thing I want to do is get together with a group that doesn’t know any more than me and learn as a group. I want to get a teacher who really knows the subject and can actually pronounce the words correctly. I can learn much faster from one expert than from a thousand amateurs in an encounter group.

There are certain things I know and I throw them out here and people can accept or reject them. I’m not participating in this group for group therapy.

Now this does not mean that the Spanish teacher cannot learn something from his students, but that is not why he is teaching the class and neither are the students there to teach the teacher. Neither are the wise teachers or the wise students interested in learning Spanish together without a workable agenda.

Then he gives this clipped quote from my mission story: “Now I was in charge …”

Reader: I took this attitude for a couple of weeks with my first junior, but he soon put me in my place. It was after that that I learn how to work cooperatively.

JJ: Quoting me out of context does make it sound like I may have been ego driven. Let us quote me in context then I will comment:

‘Now I was in charge we set out the best way possible to establish a good pool of people to teach.”

The point of the statement is this. Before I was in charge I was led by an Elder who had very little interest in the actual work of prospecting. He wanted to spend all possible time visiting with members and flirting with the girls.

The point I was making was that now that I was in charge we could get back to the nitty gritty work. The statement had nothing to do with the attitude of: “Oh, boy!! Now I am in charge I can boss someone around and do not have to listen to them.”

None of my juniors had to put me in place or felt the need for it and I gave them all the latitude and input possible. I think they all have fond memories of working with me, even my atheist companion.

Reader: Speaking for myself, I don’t have much of a problem for what your mind (not your brain) turns out, but you seem to project the attitude that you are better, more “capable”, more in tune, more intelligent, more perceptive, and have more significant insights and experiences than anybody else around you. You have elected yourself to be their teacher, when they are not necessarily looking for a teacher, but to just be a friend and a co-worker.

JJ: Actually, I did not elect myself as the teacher in this group. Rick Audette started this forum and asked me to come on it and teach. I didn’t really want to at the time but he persisted and I finally acquiesced. At first I thought I would only post now and then but the members wanted everything I could give them and more so I decided to take the job.

This is a class and not designed as a free for all. All are welcome but if any come here wanting a group encounter session then they will just become frustrated as you seem to be.

There are plenty of forums out there where there is no specific teacher that is available for this need.

I make no claims of being more capable or enlighten than anyone else. The only claim I make is that I have teachings available and if they are helpful then participants should stay. If not then maybe some other forum would fill their needs better.

Reader: In your posts about the Book of Revelation, and the Name of Christ, you mentioned the idea of a person standing on the higher ground, and lifting others up to where you are, BUT only when the other person ASKED for help.

I know that “the way” is strait and narrow, but not so narrow that we can only walk down it single file, with you in the lead. How about trying to walk it side by side?

JJ: Because that is not the way it works. The method of the Christ principle works like a great chain. The one person on higher ground pulls others up to where he is.

Let us say we are climbing a mountain together and I am a level higher. What makes more sense? For me to go down to where you are and reclimb together or for me to just reach forth my hand and pull you up?

Reaching down and pulling you up is much more efficient.

Whenever a teacher knows something that the student does not and he shares that knowledge it is like reaching forth his hand and pulling the guy up. Except it isn’t always single file. Sometimes a teacher can pull up hundreds, thousands or more.

This moving forward together and teaching each other sounds good, but when you really want to learn and move ahead with any speed you find someone who knows what he is talking about that is capable of actually seeing and understanding things you do not see and understand.

There are things I see and understand and I am willing to share most of these things and do not desire to relearn them in a group endeavor. Anyone who has pertinent information to share that is on topic is free to share for group benefit.

On the other hand, there are many things I do not know. For these things I seek out an expert who will lift me to higher ground.

In fact, that is what I plan on doing after I finish this post – that is I am taking an online course from an expert and will seek to be taken to higher ground myself. I have no desire to learn this course by sharing with a bunch of beginners that know no more than I do.

The Symbols of Revelation

The Symbols of Revelation

Question: Can you explain some of the apocalyptic events in the Book of Revelation such as the angels, the trumpets, the plagues etc?

As I’ve said the Book of Revelations will never have an exact literal interpretation but the most correct meaning is that is describes the progress of the disciple from the birth of Christ in the heart to becoming a Christ himself and beyond. I have written that there will be incidents that will be close correspondents to the book and will make many think the whole thing is coming to pass but then a complete correspondence will be missing.

Below is a section from my book, “The Unveiling” interpreting some of the obscure parts.

The Mountain of Fire

“And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.” Rev 8:8-9

First we had destruction on land (including trees and grass) and now we have destruction of the sea, which includes fish (and other creatures with life or soul) and ships.

So what is the difference between the earth and the sea?

The earth represents the slight rising of consciousness acquired by those who seek meaning in life though religion and philosophy. As we said, the trees represent the powerful authorities and the grass the followers, but all are reaching above sea level in search of the kingdom of heaven.

The sea represents the rest of humanity. Just like three quarters of the surface of the earth is covered with the seas even so is most of humanity not that interested in the meaning of life, spirituality, philosophy and religion.

The average person just wants to merge with the masses, not get noticed for his beliefs and live his life. He is a drop of water in the sea of human beings that never stand out or get their 15 minutes of fame.

On another level the earth represents the conscious self of humanity and the sea the subconscious. Those who search for meaning and are exploring consciousness are represented by earth. Those who do not, but retreat away from contemplation to be led by instinct and emotion are the masses who have little purpose and are driven as the waves of the sea.

The creatures who had life (or “soul” Greek) are the leaders and reasonably successful among the non spiritual masses and have no spiritual agenda themselves but just want the good life. These are midlevel leaders in politics, business, finance, education, the arts etc.

The ships represent the rich and famous who sail above the crowd and are enjoying their 15 minutes of fame.

So what was the great mountain burning with fire burning (apparently from heaven) that was cast into the sea?

A mountain signifies high consciousness or a kingdom. In the case of the disciple (or disciples) who tread the path of the Christ this mountain from heaven represents a work of light and love, or the consciousness of Christ manifested among men. It burns with the fire of the Holy Spirit.

The Son of man, who is the Son of God, has seen a vision of the will of God and he seeks to bring this high consciousness and divine ideas (mountain from heaven) to not only the seekers and the religious, but to make it available to all the masses of people, the high and low.

When the divine idea gains weight, as a mountain, he plunges it into the sea of people where the fire continues to burn even amidst the great waters. When such contact is made with the masses (waters) they turn to blood.

One third of those who are touched by the higher consciousness are never the same and turn from colorless water to passionate red.

Jesus said that people will either be for or against him. Even so, those effected by the Christ Consciousness among the masses will be black or white and passionately for or against the ideas and ideals promoted by the disciple.

Look at the current beliefs of the masses. They are either passionately for or against abortion, for or against the death penalty, for or against public prayer etc. This black and white attitude extends to all their beliefs.

The instilling of the waters (common people) with passion (red blood) causes a third of the life in the sea to die and the ships on the surface to be destroyed. The leaders, the rich the famous lose their hold on the masses when they come to life and start examining the pros and cons of the various teachings that filter down to them.

If a leader, a teacher, a rich man or a movie star voices an opinion different from the passion of the people it will be as if their ship that sails upon the sea of people is destroyed.

The Star from Heaven

“And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.” Rev 8:10-11

Some read this and believe it means an asteroid will hit the earth before the end of times while others have made the connection that “Chernobyl” is a Russian word for the wormwood plant. Many Bible believers think the third angel sounded when the nuclear disaster occurred at the Chernobyl nuclear plant.

Fortunately, an asteroid is not likely in the near future and the correspondence between the Chernobyl disaster and Revelation does not match up. For one thing, a third part of the rivers did not become polluted and there is little literal connection between any past drinking of radioactive waters and death.

The scripture makes much more sense when spiritual symbology is used.

With the second angel a great mountain (kingdom of God – higher consciousness) fell upon the seas (masses of people).

This time a great star burning like a lamp falls upon the rivers and fountains (springs) of waters. This sounds like a great falling star that lights up the whole sky.

So, what does a star mean in this context?

Earlier we said that stars represent fixed beliefs and the stars falling to the earth represent shattered belief systems that were thought to never change, like a fixed star.

This time instead of stars plural we have one great star falling. To understand this fully we have to add another element of meaning.

A star can also refer to an avatar, a great teacher or leader who will shatter belief systems. This meaning is indicated in the Book of Revelation itself:

“The seven stars are the angels (messengers) of the seven churches (belief systems): and the seven candlesticks which thousawest are the seven churches.” Rev 1:20

“And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars.” Rev 3:1

Here we see that a star is a messenger representing a spiritual philosophy (church) and also one of the seven spirits before the throne of God. By extension this would also represent the seven chakras as they manifest internally.

A great and fiery star fell from heaven. What does this mean? The meaning has several levels but the same principle manifests throughout.

The disciple recently opened the seventh seal and peered into heaven and beheld a strange silence for half an hour. In the silence he perceived the will of God as never before and became on fire about bringing that which is in heaven to the earth.

If we correspond the star to a spiritual teacher then we have a great messenger (star) ablaze with the light of knowledge concerning the will of God falling upon a third of the rivers and springs.

What do the rivers and springs represent? These give life to the trees (aspiring teachers) and the grass (spiritual followers). The rivers and the streams thus represent the knowledge and love of God, which feeds the people and stimulates their spiritual life.

As the next manifestation of the will of God falls from heaven (source of revelation) to add to the sources of knowledge on the earth a great disturbance happens. When the new knowledge is presented many do not like what they hear. The new doctrine is as bitter as wormwood to them. They are like the people in Jesus’ home town. When he tried to teach them they rushed upon him, grabbed him and tried to throw him over a cliff.

What he said was a bitter pill (wormwood) for them to swallow, for the star (Jesus) that fell into their fountains of knowledge shook their belief system (fixed star).

“…and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.”

Many refuse to be nourished by the new and living waters and without this nourishment they dry up and die spiritually.

Let us have faith that right makes might, and in that faith let us to the end dare to do our duty as we understand it. – Abraham Lincoln

Strange Doctrine

Strange Doctrine

Question: And what do you make of the alleged revelation that initiated plural marriage in the Mormon Church? It’s an interesting document. For a while I thought Brigham had manufactured it because the tone is so different, but far as I can tell the historical evidence doesn’t support that hypothesis.

JJ: The story is that Joseph’s wife Emma was so enraged with the revelation of plural marriage that she burned the written revelation. Interestingly there are conflicting accounts on this. One says that Joseph asked her to burn it. Another says they burned it together and still another says that Joseph burned it himself because he thought the principle would be misused and destroy the church.

It is said the Joseph’s scribe William Clayton preserved a copy of the revelation, but others say there was no copy and it was reconstructed from memory.

It didn’t surface again until Brigham Young published it in Salt Lake City in 1852, 8 years after Joseph’s death.

Unfortunately, we do not have access to the original copy of the revelation. The chances are very high that it was worded somewhat different than the published text we have today.

There is a lot of evidence that Joseph was conflicted over the principle. Here is what I think happened.

Shortly after he started the church with a goal to “restore all things” he read about the numerous polygamists in the Old Testament – those men considered great prophets such as Abraham, Isaac Jacob, Moses, David Solomon and others.

He wondered if there was some type of principle around this that needed to be restored. He sought a revelation and seemed to get a few things around it but wasn’t satisfied with what he received. Something seemed to be missing.

Then within a short time he found that there were many attractive females who adored him and as he became friends and eventually close to a number of them the idea of plural marriage became much more attractive and he began to ask himself where the boundaries were. Did the old prophets get the wife’s permission? Could they take any woman they considered attractive? Was anything permissible if all were in agreement and there was no betrayal?

I’m sure Joseph considered this statement by Jesus:

“And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.” Matt 8:11

If polygamists such as Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, were in the kingdom of heaven then why couldn’t he, a prophet in his own age, also take extra wives and yet also enter the kingdom?

This thought lowered his normally high defenses and the more he became attracted to certain females the more he felt obligated to create a doctrine in his mind to make plural relationships acceptable to his conscience.

He finally concluded that he would be innocent of sin if he merely followed in the footsteps of the ancient prophets. He then had several women sealed to him and had sex with them.

This caused a euphoria on one hand and a consternation on the other that he had betrayed his wife. He felt at first that he would not need his wife’s permission but then concluded it was wrong to do it without it. This realization causes him later on to attempt to get Emma’s cooperation. He had sex with some females but nothing like is imagined by his enemies for he was very conflicted about where the line of right and wrong was in the matter. This is why DNA tests have not found a child fathered by him outside of Emma.

This whole thing opened a Pandora’s box that he did not anticipate. Word of his activities leaked out to church leaders and they wanted an explanation.

He couldn’t just tell then that he was experimenting, trying to find the principle behind the whole thing so he had to formulate a doctrine around it and explain it as part of a “new and everlasting covenant”.

Immediate almost everyone wanted in on the deal.

Now Joseph was planning on keeping the whole idea private until he had clearly formulated what was right and wrong but now he was forced to present it to his inner circle as one of those mysteries for which the world was not ready.

As time passed and he saw how his brethren were misusing the principle – using it for gratification and unjust authority – he tried to refine the principle. Any revisions did not seem to have a positive effect. In addition, he and his brethren were forced to lie to save the church from possible destruction. This gnawed at his soul. Finally, shortly before his death he concluded that there was something inspired about multiple relationships but multiple sex partners overall were destructive to the spirit of the church and needed to be stopped.

He then made the statement that after the Nauvoo temple was completed that he was going to set the church in order.

Unfortunately, he was killed before the temple was finished.

It is thought in some circles that some church leaders who wanted polygamy to continue without restrictions were in on a plot to kill Joseph because they knew he planned to virtually eliminate or drastically curtail the practice.

It is interesting as to how much mystery there is behind the life of Joseph Smith when compared to other famous men in his time.

One God, Many Members

Question: When you talk about God which god are you talking about? Is it the Christ, or the God of the Old Testament? Is it Great Spirit? Star God? God of the Buddhists, Lord Satan, or is it one that is conjectured in someone’s mind, or is it the universe?

JJ: There is only one God for all whether they be Christians, Muslims, Buddhists etc.

The scriptures say there is one God, but “many members.”

People who have true physical visitations are usually visited by a master who is one with God, but not the one God.

Those who are visited by spirits are approached by either a thoughtform or a discarnate spirit.

Whether one is visited by an angel or a being who claims to be God Itself – he needs to verify the teachings with principles revealed through his own soul. One especially needs to do this when someone else wants you to follow him because he speaks for God.

It is also important to realize that most claims of contact with God or masters are either fabricated or imagined.

A modest man is usually admired – if people ever hear of him. – Edgar Watson Howe

A Witness and Signs

A Witness and Signs

I previously wrote that seekers may be directed by their souls to join an imperfect church or organization because that experience will aid them in their progression. A reader question that this may not be true if it only have him a feeling of self-importance.

Higher intelligence that guides seeking humanity is concerned with one thing when giving a witness, or nudge in any direction. The question is this:

Will the supported choice move the entity forward in his spiritual evolution and thus be a benefit to his group and hopefully the whole of the children of men?

The question concerns not his perfection on the personality level. Most people seeking a witness have many flaws that will continue for lifetimes to come. The important thing is that once a person begins to aspire to the spiritual path that he should not stand still or go backwards but move onward.

The reader then asks this: Can an “ordinary” person see or know a difference between a sign and a witness? Here is an example (true story): A girl, who has never heard about the LDS, had a dream in which she saw a peculiar church with a spire and an angel figurine on top. Some time later she met missionaries who invited her to their local church (and she never before passed by it). To her greatest surprise the church looked exactly the same as in her dream! As a result she joined the church. Was it a sign or a witness? And who or what could create such a sign?

JJ: Signs like this are usually attributed to God but can come from a number of sources.

First, it could just be a coincidence that she dreamed of a Mormon church just before she saw one in real life.

Secondly it is quite possible she had an inner yearning to belong to something like the church and her inner self gave her the dream in an effort to lead her to the church, which would satisfy her needs.

Thirdly it is possible she has karma connected with the church due to a past life and she is given a sign to lead her to it.

Fourthly it is possible that her soul has determined that the church will teach her lessons on giving herself in service in preparations for future service.

Finally, there is a powerful thoughtform connected with the church created by the accumulation of all the thoughts of all the believers from the beginning. If a person taps into this quite a few apparent signs can manifest.

There are many reasons behind signs people receive. Some signs may lead in the right direction and some do not. Because signs often lead people astray Jesus said: “An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign.” Matt 12:39

Some people see a sign and a witness as the same thing. A sign is an outward occurrence and is not a witness. A witness is an inner experience caused by the Spirit through the door of the soul.

Many people have never received a true witness of anything but have received a number of strong emotional feelings that they believe is a witness sent from God. A person cannot tell the difference until he receives a true witness. When this happens the difference will be clear.

The closest non witness experience one can have is the feeling of falling intensely in love and many have not had this. This falling in love experience has to be from both sides of the relationship. A one-sided attraction creates a lower emotional feeling.

The falling in love experience opens the door of the soul so the two can look upon the perfect spirit within. This is different than a spiritual witness but is the most common experience that is close to the Spirit.

Any true higher witness is for the purpose of pushing you toward progressing along the path and making you more capable at service to our fellowmen. This often has a group effect but the main design is the expansion of your power to serve.

Gathering Attempts

A reader comments on the failures of previous gathering attempts and wonders if we can have a successful one this time around.

At the end of each age there is an attempted gathering. Moses was quite successful as far as numbers go but had to destroy the first set a tablets containing the higher law because he discovered the people were reverting back to worshiping the golden calf. Raising the consciousness was not very successful.

Jesus attempted a gathering and wept outside of Jerusalem because people did not respond. He said:

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.” Matt 23:37-38

Joseph Smith attempted a gathering and was mildly successful and then after his death people had the opportunity to establish Zion on their own piece of land in the Utah area. Instead of Zion they created and authoritarian system resembling the Taliban, even resorting to blood atonement (murder) to keep people in line. The LDS are very ignorant of this period of their own history.

The U.S. Government did the Mormons a favor by forcing them to comply with the laws of the land as Zion was not being created.

The most successful gathering in history has been the one to the America from the Old World, which was not particularly religious in nature but resulted in greater freedoms for the world.

We have about 150 years or so before we are solidly into the age of Aquarius. Additional gathering attempts will surely be made and hopefully we can have an initial one underway by 2030.

The shift of the age at this time is not only a shift of ages, but ages of ages and if the time were to come that a successful gathering has not been made then mankind could lose much of its civilization it has acquired.

If one disciple fails, another may be available but the substitute could bungle the whole thing worse than the original. God is limited in helping us because of our free will.

Considering the great advance we are making in technology it is quite possible the real beginning will be through the internet.

I once wanted to become an atheist, but I gave up – they have no holidays. – Henny Youngman

Branches of the Tree of Life

Branches of the Tree of Life

Question: If the Mormon Church is corrupt and many of its teachings are flawed then why would the Spirit or soul give any witness related to it or guide anyone to join it?

This is a good question and is one I expected to receive.

The problem is that there is no person or organization that is perfect. The first lesson the seeker after truth must realize as he seeks an inner verification is that the Spirit never witnesses to the infallibility of any person, teaching or group in this material world.

Of course, many people who think they received a witness merely received a good emotional feeling about something that sounded good. On the other hand, some do receive a true inner verification from the Spirit through the soul. What they often fail to do, however, is not carefully reflect on just what it was that was that was verified.

The Spirit verifies truth in two major areas.

Direction and true principles

(1) Direction.

There is a path that takes us back to union with God. As we begin the path it is as if we have choices of many branches, like the top of a tree of life. Now even though there are many branches, and some are stronger than others, it is still a true principle that even the smallest and most imperfect among them receive life giving force from the Source. Therefore, if the seeker has a choice of merging with one of the branches or being separate from all branches the Spirit will witness to him that merging with the available branch is desirable.

The religions and churches of the world are the first branches of the Tree of Life.

None of them are perfect and all of them have many flaws and just criticism can be made against them. Even so, they are the kindergartens and elementary schools that take us on the path out of darkness and point us toward light and life.

Many of those reading this have been associated with a church in their past. Consider this question: Did you learn things of value from your association with it? I would guess the answer is yes. My answer is certainly yes, even though I outgrew it and they kicked me out. The church, as imperfect as it is, was the initial source that set me on the quest for the meaning of life and search for truth.

My initial experiences in the church were invaluable.

Therefore, when the seeker, who is not yet connected with a branch leading to greater connections with the Tree of Life, has a choice to hold on to a branch or no branch at all, the spirit will verify to him that he should move forward.

If he seeks it, the verification or witness may be to join the LDS, the Catholics, Protestants, Buddhism or any particular school that will just pull him into the system whereas he begins to contemplate the meaning of things.

A person can also receive inner direction on various choices in life such as marriage, career or place of residence. If an inner verification is sought and none is received it means that the partner, career or location will not make much difference to your progression. But sometimes you may need to marry a specific person or follow a certain career and, in this case, you will receive a witness or verification.

Such verification does not mean that you will have smooth sailing, but it does mean that you will either spiritually benefit yourself or help others progress because of it.

So the Spirit therefore gives witness to true direction – a direction that leads the One Path.

(2) True Principles.

The language of the soul is the language of principles. Facts are so relative that rarely is any inner witness relative to them. Instead, on reflection, the seeker will find that an inner witness is related to some principle.

Many people read the Bible and receive an inner verification and then assume that the whole thing is infallible, but what is it that was really verified? It could be one or more of a number of things:

That Higher intelligence (God) does exist and there are beings of a higher order that work with us to aid us in our progression.

That there is an inner Christ or God that we can access for guidance.

That supernatural events and miracles are possible.

That there is a higher or spiritual love that we should embrace.

That we should see ourselves as servants willing to give a helping hand to our neighbors.

Now when a seeker reads the Bible or joins a church and receives an inner warm confirmation of any of these principles he is likely to interpret such as confirmation that the whole of the church of the Bible is 100% true and infallible.

The same goes for the LDS church, Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. When a person receives a witness in connection with them it is either connected with direction or some true principle revealed. When I was in the church I never received a witness of the Book of Mormon as a whole but I did receive some powerful witnesses of some of the principles taught.

My first witness happened shortly after I started reading the book and came across this scripture:

“For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost, as well in these times as in times of old, and as well in times of old as in times to come; wherefore, the course of the Lord is one eternal round.” I Nephi 10:19

I have applied this teaching throughout my life and it is indeed a true principle.

Another thing that struck a powerful chord with my soul was the teaching that little children do not need baptism to be saved from original sin.

Then, here’s another scripture that registered within:

“But behold, that which is of God inviteth and enticeth to do good continually; wherefore, every thing which inviteth and enticeth to do good, and to love God, and to serve him, is inspired of God.” Moroni 7:13

Similarly, there are a number of teachings and experiences of Joseph Smith, despite his imperfections, that call forth an inner witness. One thing that brings forth the Spirit verifying that at least, at that moment, he was in the Spirit was Parley P. Pratt’s account at Liberty Jail:

“The incident takes place in Richmond, Missouri, sometime in November of 1838. The Prophet and his associates had been taken prisoner at Far West, Missouri, and were awaiting trial at Richmond in some rough log houses situated near the courthouse.

“Six men at a time were chained around the ankles with a long chain that was held to each ankle by a lock. Parley poignantly recounts: “In one of those tedious nights [imprisoned in Richmond in a rough log house] we had lain as if in sleep till the hour of midnight had passed, and our ears and hearts had been pained, while we had listened for hours to the obscene jests, the horrid oaths, the dreadful blasphemies and filthy language of our guards, Colonel Price at their head, as they recounted to each other their deeds of rapine, murder, robbery, etc., which they had committed among the “Mormons” while at Far West and vicinity. They even boasted of defiling by force wives, daughters and virgins, and of shooting or dashing out the brains of men, women and children,

“I had listened till I became so disgusted, shocked, horrified, and so filled with the spirit of indignant justice that I could scarcely refrain from rising upon my feet and rebuking the guards; but had said nothing to Joseph, or any one else, although I lay next to him and knew he was awake. On a sudden he arose to his feet, and spoke in a voice of thunder, as the roaring lion, uttering, as near as I can recollect, the following words:

“’SILENCE, ye fiends of the infernal pit. In the name of Jesus Christ I rebuke you, and command you to be still; I will not live another minute and bear such language. Cease such talk, or you or I die THIS INSTANT!’

He ceased to speak. He stood erect in terrible majesty. Chained, and without a weapon; calm, unruffled and dignified as an angel, he looked upon the quailing guards, whose weapons were lowered or dropped to the ground; whose knees smote together, and who, shrinking into a corner, or crouching at his feet, begged his pardon, and remained quiet till a change of guards.

I have seen the ministers of justice, clothed in magisterial robes, and criminals arraigned before them, while life was suspended on a breath, in the courts of England; I have witnessed a Congress in solemn session to give laws to nations; I have tried to conceive of kings, of royal courts, of thrones and crowns; and of emperors assembled to decide the fate of kingdoms; but dignity and majesty have I seen but once, as it stood in chains, at midnight, in a dungeon in an obscure village of Missouri.”

Autobiography of Parley P. Pratt, pp. 209-211.

The seeker gains valuable knowledge when he realizes that many people of widely differing belief systems have received inner verification of true principles and direction. This is why it is so important to be cautions in making negative judgments of others. Maybe your friend has received an inner direction to follow a path that you consider to be in error, but for him such a path will lead to his next step on the path of liberation. If we are not careful a condemning judgment may prove to be a great error.

I have a dream that one day in the red hills of Georgia, sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave-owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood. – Martin Luther King Jr.

The Mystery of Healing

The Mystery of Healing

The following is a reader commenting on my previous pos relating a personal healing I experienced:

I can’t stop wondering: How are we to account for this healing, and other similar instances reported within the Mormon church?

The only possibilities I can come up with are:

  1. Your mission president believed he possessed a special “priesthood” power to effect healing, and that belief, although perhaps misguided, was enough to generate the necessary faith.
  2. Your pres. was subconsciously using some shamanic-type healing abilities he developed in a prior lifetime.
  3. It was due to your own belief, faith, and/or innate ability.
  4. It was some combination of the above.

You sometimes hear about these miraculous healings occurring among members of other faiths, but (if faith-promoting rumors are to be believed) Mormons seem to have a disproportionate number of them.

So, do Mormon men really have an advantage that other “non-priesthood bearers” do not have, or is it just that they actively acknowledge a power that we all have access to?

JJ: Good observations and questions. I appreciate the participation from the members for making their comments on this for there were some good ones.

Actually, the Mormons do have an advantage when it comes to healing. Is it because they have magical powers through their priesthood?

Not so much.

What is it then?

Hint… Think of DKs teachings.

And what do DK’s teachings have to do with Mormonism and healing?

Quite a bit actually when you think of his teachings on the seventh ray, ceremonial magic and the Masons. Joseph Smith borrowed much of the ceremonial magic in the church from the Masons as well as the ancient ceremonies of the Hebrews and early Christians.

Consider the ceremony involved in an LDS healing.

  1. Everything has to be done, not by one, but by two or more elders.
  2. The elders must have on their person olive oil which has been ceremonially blessed. This set apart oil is only to be used for healing.
  3. Before giving a blessing the oil is placed on the crown of the person’s head and set words are spoken.
  4. Administering the oil and giving the blessing are done by two separate elders.
  5. All elders participating lay hands upon the head of the person and one gives the blessing.
  6. Set words are uttered and then the spokesman attempts to channel the will of God and gives a blessing of healing.

Compare this to what happens in a regular church. As someone noted about all that happens is they pray. Prayer alone rarely brings significant healing.

Sometimes a regular church will announce a special day of fasting and or prayer to heal a member. This is an elementary ceremony and increases the results.

Then some of the fundamentalist churches have high energy meetings where they repeat elementary mantras, talk in tongues, scream and do theatrics to increase anticipation of results.

This is crude ceremony but is does increase results.

On the other hand, the quiet ceremony of the Mormons is more seventh ray and can produce longer lasting results.

Now the LDS think that any healings done in the church is due to the special power of the Priesthood, or authority from God they think they have a monopoly on.

In truth they experience more healing miracles than others because they have a structured ceremony which raises expectations.

When I was excommunicated in 1979 the authorities thought that they had stripped me of any power of the priesthood. I personally didn’t think I lost anything, but gained instead.

A short time after this I was asked to give a blessing to a man who has lost his ability to walk. I thought to myself that this would be a good test to see if one can heal after being stripped of the priesthood. A friend and I laid our hands on his head and I commanded him to walk. We removed our hands and he raised himself up and walked. We saw him a few days later and he was still walking fine.

This and other things later on proved to me that more is involved in healing than recognized church priesthood.

So, what caused my miraculous healing? I was previously given two blessings by others and they did not work. What was the difference?

Several things.

  1. I had more faith in the mission president. Part of the reason for this extra faith was that he was the highest authority available. It matters not that he was an outward authority. What matters is the increased expectation which aligns one with the principle of energy following thought.
  2. I had reached the end of my rope which created a point of tension.
  3. In this point of tension I poured out my soul to God all through the night. This again uses the principle of energy following thought and made additional energy available.
  4. The mission president had faith and was confident that healing could take place. This made him a clear channel for the healing energy.
  5. When he gave the blessing he said the words I wanted to hear – that I would be healed. This triggered the healing power.

It is sometimes discouraging that not all attempts result in healing no matter how much faith or confidence one has. The scripture says that even Jesus could nor heal in his home town where they saw him as just an ordinary guy.

Then sometimes the ill person has karma to pay off and healing would do more harm than good and the soul will not allow it.

Because spiritual healing does not produce consistent results skeptics will ever be able to nurture their doubt.

But anyone who experiences a supernatural healing, even once, cannot doubt that more than human powers are available to us.

A healthy body is a guest chamber for the soul; a sick body is a prison.– Francis Bacon

The Three Buddhas of Activity

The Three Buddhas of Activity

DK mentions the Three Buddhas of Activity quite a few times, but unless you have read over a dozen of the Bailey books you are likely to be in the dark about who they are and what they represent.

These the Buddhas are three Kumaras which are part of the seven great entities who form the inner circle at Shamballa. These have two divisions. The first are the “exoteric four” who are Sanat Kumara and the Three Buddhas of Activity. Blavatsky gives their names as Sananda, Sanaka, and Sanatana. These three, plus Sanat, are said to be in physical bodies, but not the dense physical as we understand it, but have bodies composed of the higher ethers of the physical plane.

The second group are called the “esoteric three.” These have bodies of a nonphysical substance and work with evolution from a higher level.

It is said that the exoteric four had to make a great sacrifice to descend to the dense physical plane to help us, for that is not their comfort zone.

The names of the esoteric three are: Sana, Kapila, and Sanat-sujata.

The Three Buddhas of Activity arrived on earth from Venus with Sanat Kumara over 18 million years ago. Altogether there were 105 Kumaras involved. Concerning the three DK says “There remain still with Him the three Buddhas of Activity.” The sacred number of 105 remains, but many of these Kumaras have been replaced by entitles who evolved from the human kingdom. Then he adds this: “I would call attention to the dual significance of that name, ‘Buddha of Activity,’ bearing out, as it does, the reality of the fact that Entities at Their stage of evolution are active love-wisdom and embody in Themselves the two aspects. The three Buddhas of activity have a correspondence to the three persons of the Trinity.” TCF Page 387

Each one of these Buddhas represents a group life of thirty-five:

“These Entities are divided into three groups of thirty-five each, and in Themselves embody the three major centres of the planetary Logos,” TCF, Page 387

Again three times 35 equals the sacred number of 105.

Even though they are presently active in the second ray of love-wisdom they carry with them a strong influence of the third ray from the previous solar system:

“Forget not that these three great Buddhas summarise in a peculiar sense the transmuted essence of the previous solar system in which intelligent activity was the goal. Today, that essence underlies all the activity of this solar system but is motivated by love, which was not the case in the earlier manifestation.” Rays and Initiations, Page 273

But then, “In relation to Shamballa… the three Buddhas of Activity… represent conscious intelligent life, conscious, intelligent and active wisdom, and conscious, intelligent and active creation.” Telepathy and the Etheric Vehicle, Page 185

We see then that they incorporate all three major rays of aspect in their work, but with emphasis on love-wisdom, the major ray of his solar system.

Students often figure Sanat Kumara, the Lord of the World, is the most evolved entity working with human evolution, so it may be surprising to learn that these three Buddhas, along with some others, are even more evolved than he.

Few of the great Lives Who form the inner group of the Council Chamber at Shamballa are now of greater advancement than he (Sanat); the ‘Supernal Three,’ the ‘Radiant Seven,’ the ‘Lives embodying the forty-nine Fires,’ the ‘Buddhas of Activity,’ and certain ‘Eternal Spirits’ from such centres of dynamic spiritual life as Sirius, or from the constellation which at any one time forms a triangle with our Sun and Sirius and a Representative from Venus are of greater—far greater—advancement.” Rays and Initiations, Pages 141-142

It is interesting that even though they are more evolved “They are three aspects of the one aspect, and the pupils of Sanat Kumara.” Initiation Human and Solar, Page 107

The question arises as to why they would be in a student relationship with Sanat if they are the more evolved?

The answer is quite obvious which is this. As we evolve certain aspects of ourselves may reach a much higher state than others. Obviously, Sanat Kumara and this planetary situation offers a unique opportunity to achieve a more balanced state in their development.

For instance, Nikola Tesla was a scientific genius, but lacked ability in business skills. He may come back some day and learn them from one lesser evolved than himself.

So, just how advanced are these three Buddhas? We are told this:

They do not belong to this solar system at all; They have passed through the human stage in such far distant and remote world cycles that the experience is no longer a part of Their consciousness… In the last solar system They were the planetary Logoi of three planets in which the mind principle reached its highest stage of development; Rays and Initiations, Pages 267-268

It appears that they are a solar system ahead of Sanat Kumara, for in the last solar system they were “planetary Logoi” which is the position occupied by Sanat Kumara in this one.

They are not only “pupils” here to smooth off a few rough edges, but “They act as advisors to Sanat Kumara where His initial purpose is concerned.” Rays and Initiations, Page 267 Thus as pupils they receive and as advisors they send.

DK tells us of a number of things these three Buddhas do. One assisted Sanat Kumara in stimulating the individualization of humans in our distant past. Another focuses on stimulating disciples toward higher initiation and a third works with bringing disciples in on the plan through a principle called “identification. (See Rays and Initiations, Pages 268-269)

Impressing the plan on the Hierarchy and humanity is an important part of their work:

“It might be said here that the three Buddhas of Activity are the prime impressing Agents and that the three Great Lords are the “impressed Recipients” at an exceedingly high level.” Telepathy and the Etheric Vehicle, Pages 119-120

“They are Embodiments of the intuition, and control the inflow of intuitional energy into the minds of men.” Discipleship in the New Age, Vol 2, Page 200

Whereas the main focus of Sanat Kumara is the human kingdom the Three Buddhas work with the lower three:

“The three Buddhas of Activity, act as similar focal points for the energy which animates the three lower kingdoms, and which produces their differing grades of consciousness.” TCF, Page 728

This quote pretty much sums up their work with life on earth:

“These three Buddhas are the creative Agents of the planetary Logos and are Wielders of the Law of Evolution.” Rays and Initiations, Page 587

They also act as a higher correspondence to the Sixth Kingdom and the ajna chakra:

“The Buddhas of Activity Who are to Shamballa what the Nirmanakayas are to the Hierarchy…” Telepathy and the Etheric Vehicle, Page 45

“They are essentially the “eye within the Triangle”—a most familiar symbol to many today. They are the expression, in activity, of the “All-Seeing Eye”; through their agency God sees, and through them and the energy directed through them, He directs the creative process.” Rays and Initiations, Page 180

As such they transmit intelligence from sources outside this solar system to Shamballa:

“They function, in a peculiar sense, as linking intermediaries between the Logos of our solar system and the informing Life of the constellation Libra; They relate these two great centres of energy to our planetary Logos.” Rays and Initiations, Page 267

We thus see that three the super advanced beings called the Three Buddhas of Activity are very active in the evolutionary process in our solar system.

You can’t help someone uphill without getting closer to the top yourself. – Chinese Proverb

Fun Facts

Fun Facts

Over the years I have collected an interesting assortment of odd ball stories, articles and unusual information. I thought I would share a few light-hearted stories with you.

Here is the first one:

Einstein’s Brain

HERE’S WHY EINSTEIN WAS SMARTER THAN US

Researcher Marian Diamond has discovered why Einstein was such a genius. He had 73 percent more of a certain type of brain cell than the average guy.

The University of California anatomy professor studied four slices of the famous physicist’s brain and found that the left portion of Einstein gray matter contained more glial cells, cells which supply nourishment to other brain tissue and handle mundane chores.

“There I was, looking at the brain that came up with the theory of relativity,” said an awestruck Dr. Diamond, who admitted she found the experience “overwhelming.”

Einstein’s brain is owned by a Missouri pathologist who participated in an autopsy on the genius after his death in 1955 at the age of 76. It took Dr. Diamond three years to talk him out of a few chunks of brain tissue for her experiments and six months to study the samples.

Her efforts were rewarded when she discovered differences between Einstein’s brain tissue and the tissue of ordinarily intelligent people.

Diamond said she found 73 percent more glial cells for every neuron cell in the left lobe of Einstein’s brain, Neuron cells are responsible for thinking, while the gliais supply more fundamental needs. She theorizes that the abundance of glial cells explains Einstein’s superintelIigence.

“No one knows how cells think,” she said, “It’s a mystery.”

Diamond has been studying the neuron-glial relationship in rats for years and has found that rats that are stimulated with toys and activities develop more glials for every neuron.

Piggly Wiggly

FOLKS LAUGHED AT THE MAN WHO INVENTED TODAY’S SUPERMARKET

Clarence Saunders put the “super” in supermarket when he invented the self-serve market, but his competitors laughed in his face the day he opened his first Piggly Wiggly store in 1916.

Up until then, grocery shoppers told a clerk what they wanted and the clerk gathered all the items. But Saunders had a better idea. He put the groceries on shelves, stuck price tags in front of them and let shoppers pick what they wanted. Then the customers took their groceries to the checkout counter.

“Traditional grocery store owners thought Saunders first store in Memphis, Tenn., was a joke. They prophesied customers would steal him out of business inside a month,” said Melinda Ingram, communications manager for Piggly Wiggly Corp.

“Instead, a week after he opened the store, Saunders had to issue admission tickets.” That’s because Saunders was a public relations genius and he also made sure Piggly Wiggly had lower prices than its competitors.

“Saunders was the first to start a price war, running ads comparing his prices with his old-fashioned competitors,” Ingram said.

“Two months after his first store opened, Saunders had 43 stores.”

Saunders lost his fortune in the stock market during the 1920s. But Ed Matthews, vice president and director of trade relations for Piggly Wiggly, said; “Saunders store started a revolution in the movement of products from manufacturers to consumers.

“Piggly Wiggly and the invention of Saunders self-service has been described as the most significant change in the buying and selling of goods since the introduction of currency.”

PEOPLE’S HANDS REVEAL WHAT THEY ARE FEALLY THINKING

You can tell what people are thinking by watching their hands, say experts.

“Hands can be a real giveaway to our inner feelings,” said Dr. Vernon Coleman, author of the book “People Watching.”

“For example, observe the way people shake hands. If they reach out and try to keep their hand on top with the palm facing down, they are trying to dominate.

“When people conceal their palms they are being aggressive and when they have their hands turned upward with the palms in full view they are open and receptive.

“When people put their hands behind their head and lean back, that is a generally aggressive and arrogant sign. They are saying they can expose their bodies to you, but have so much power they don’t need to defend themselves.

“When a man or woman constantly plays with their wedding ring it indicates something is wrong with the relationship. This is especially true if the person talks about their partner at the same time.

“The hands can also pinpoint, a liar. When people stray from the truth they often touch their faces, particularly around the mouth and: the nose.

“Somebody who fiddles with their neckline or puts their hands inside their shirt or blouse is probably not telling you the whole truth. They have something to hide. Putting the hands in the pockets is another way of attempting to hide something.

“But when a man repeatedly touches his tie he is very keen on making a good impression. It is his way of saying he’s really trying.”

Liars sometimes give themselves away by scratching their necks, added Dr. David Lewis, author of “The Secret Language of Success. How to Bead and Use Body Talk.”

“They usually scratch five times – seldom more and rarely less “ he said.

“Some people know their hands can expose their lies, and they try to keep them out of sight in their pockets or behind their backs. But even then they can. subconsciously fiddle with keys or coins? which shows they are not telling the truth. “

Another interesting and revealing hand movement is when someone makes a hair grooming gesture, like -running their fingers through their hair. This shows the person is suddenly filled with doubt and doesn’t know what to do next”

People also betray their secret anxieties by holding something in front of them, such as a newspaper or handbag, said Dr. Coleman.

“It can mean that person is receiving unwanted attention from the opposite sex – and is trying to reject these advances by hiding. “

On the other hand, people who put their hands on their hips or their thumbs into their belt loops are trying to make themselves look attractive.”

Excellent Drivers

37% THINK THEY’RE EXCELLENT DRIVERS

Some 37 percent of drivers think they are excellent behind the wheel, and 55 percent consider themselves good, reveals a poll of 500 motorists commissioned by Valvoline Oil.

But only 2 percent of drivers feel that other motorists are excellent… and 55 percent think that the other guy is generally a poor-to-fair driver.

Power of Thought

Power of Thought

A reader asked about Prahlad Jani, an unusual holy man from India who claims to not eaten or even drank water since he was eight years old. Since he is now 70 to 80 years old this means that if he is telling the truth he has not eaten food or drank water for over 60 years.

An article I found on him says:

“He was examined by a group of scientists in Sterlin Hospital, in a western Indian city of Ahmedabad. During 10 days of experiment under constant observation, he didn’t consume any food and “neither did he spent urine nor stool”. Yet, he is fine in mental and physical, says doctors. And he was watched 24 hours a day, prohibited to take a bath, and was not given even a drop of water.

“Most people can live without food for several weeks, but without water, average human can survive only 3 or 4 days.

“Ahmedabad’s Association of Physicians say that despite no water entering in his body, urine formed in his bladder, and was RE-ABSORBED by the bladder walls. Scientists checked his blood, scanned his brain, he went through almost all kinds of inner body checks, but after all there was no change to his body condition.

This article goes on to cover another guy who is 66 and hasn’t eaten in 8 years and ten a lady who hasn’t eaten in 4 years.”

The question in Tom’s mind is: Are these people masters incarnate? It would seem that only a master could accomplish such a feat.

Not necessarily. The first clue is given in the photos in the article HERE

Take a look at these three people and see if you can figure out what they have in common before you read further.

Okay, did you take a look? What they have in common is that all three look their age or older. Hira Ratan Manek is about my age and in my opinion looks much older.

Prahlad Jani, who has says he has gone 60 years without eating or drinking not only looks his age but doesn’t look that bright. Evidence supporting this is he doesn’t know his age within a decade. Sounds like he is pretty out of touch with our reality.

The Masters are called Masters of Wisdom.

Why?

Because wisdom is the last thing that we humans master before we graduate and move into the fifth kingdom. It is true that a Master is capable of performing the miraculous but it takes more than this to be a Master.

There are two major indications of a Master.

Great wisdom and power to extend life indefinitely for the purpose of service to humanity.

So how do some individuals go without food and water if they are not masters?

The answer is quite simple and to find it one can look at those who experienced the wounds of Christ, commonly called the stigmata. Such individuals are often of average intelligence and show no signs of possessing any extraordinary wisdom. The supposed miracle is brought about through the principle of energy following thought.

Ordinary thought which is focused is much more powerful than is generally supposed and can give the thinker tremendous power over his body. He can not only create a stigmata (who wants to?) but can go long periods of time without food and water and even slow or almost stop his heart and revive it.

Even an average person who is not a master can do miraculous things if his attention is focused.

This can be illustrated through hypnosis. A person in a deep trance can have a lighted cigarette pressed against his skin and not suffer a burn. He can gain super strength and even lift a car. He could be told to manifest a stigmata and it would happen.

I believe a deeply hypnotized person could be trained to go long periods of time without food and water though no experiments have been performed in this direction.

What happens in many of these cases, where people perform astounding feats, is the person is so focused through meditation that he puts himself in a state of deep self hypnosis and this gives him power over his body in a focused area.

A Master of Wisdom realizes this principle and will use it with knowledge of what he is doing to accomplish certain ends as wisdom dictates.

(Note from 2025: Prahlad Jani died May 26, 2020 at age 90)

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

A reader asks this: I have OCD. What does that mean? What energies is it telling me to do? Often my thoughts are negative from OCD an illness of the mind. Why? How to overcome it? How do I know that I am resisting a new energy and how do we find out the clues to what it is?

JJ: OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder) would be caused by an accumulation of a number of things in your evolution.

  1. A number of past lives where you were subjected to strict routine or suffer punishment
  2. Possibly your last life where there was intense suffering over disease or torture.

If OCD is a major problem in this life it is because you are dealing with the subtle memories with feeling or the astral body rather than the mental.

Your soul doesn’t design this situation for you so much as it just occurs to us in certain lives caused by our own thinking and the beginning of mental polarization as we move along in our progression.

There is a great lesson to be learned from this disease as its purpose is to force us to deal with the problem through the mind rather than the emotional body. The mind can see the solution and right action seems very simple, but the emotional body as well the instinctual self doesn’t see the logic and tries to force you to go contrary to logic and stay polarized in your feelings.

With great effort the mind can take control and show the emotional body who is the boss. When it does this enough times, the emotional body will learn to submit and the disease will be under control. When this happens a great evolutionary step in the life of the seeker will be accomplished.

When people are highly motivated, it’s easy to accomplish the impossible. And when they’re not, it’s impossible to accomplish the easy. – Bob Collings

Why We Forget

Why We Forget

Question: Do we lose our memory and become childlike so the necessary lessons can be learned in a productive way and move us forward in our physical and spiritual progression?

JJ: The technical reason we lose our memory is because of our identification with our physical bodies and the material world. Fortunately, when the body dies the record of our lives remains in the permanent atom that we take with us.

Past lives can be recalled but to do so one has to have the knowledge revealed through the soul, or disconnect from the physical through meditation or relaxation techniques so the memory can be accessed.

To understand how much our memories are connected to our bodies it is helpful to study your dreams. If you think back to your many dreams you may recall that in many of them you remembered few accurate memories of your preset life. Sometimes you will have a different identity completely. Other times you will have a different spouse, friends, home, occupation, car, etc. The reason for this is you are partially disconnected from your body during sleep, so your memories are not accurate. Your dreams are composite of a hodge-podge of memories from this life, previous lives and impressions picked up from other entities.

When we awaken and focus on the physical then our memories in the physical are fairly accurate. But that focus overshadows all other memories from the past and makes them difficult to access.

So why does the Divine Plan allow for us to forget past lives as we enter into a new one?

The answer is quite simple. A new start with a blank slate in each life forces us to choose and focus on something new to learn.

Take a look at some of the aging rock musicians for example. Some of them have not had a hit for 20-30 years, but they still keep on playing the old hits over and over and any new music they write sounds stale. They’ve lost their edge, but still keep on doing the same thing instead of learning something new.

For many people like that the only thing that will direct them on a new path of learning will be death, forgetting and rebirth.

A few years ago, Michael Jordan quit basketball and decided to do something new for a star player. He tackled a sport that required new learning — baseball. This was a sport that he was not that good at yet. I thought — good for him. That’s a sign of an evolved soul to force himself to do something new when it is the path less traveled on.

I was cheering him on, but then after a season or two he decided it was too difficult and he missed the accolades of being the best at his chosen sport and he moved back into basketball.

This just illustrates how tough it is to move away from something we are good at to learn something new when the new learning is not only difficult, but sometimes humiliating.

Now in his next life, if Michael Jordan is a little shorter and has a dad that teaches him baseball, he is likely to persevere in it and succeed. It will be helpful to him that he will not be distracted by memories of the cheering crowds for him being the greatest basketball player of all time.

Jesus said, “you must be born again to enter into the kingdom of God.” Such a kingdom consists of entities who are learning new things and moving forward. We are born again so we can participate in that.

This is also a key to overcoming death. We die when we finish effective learning for a particular life. If one can internally be born again and be flexible enough to take an entirely new course of learning as prescribed by his soul then he can extend his life a significant amount.

(Note from 2025: A recent study shows that people with past life memories often have emotional problems caused by disturbing memories. 71% reported childhood phobias, far above typical rates, with most persisting into adulthood. Here is a LINK to the article)

Question: Where do you see the soul residing in relationship to the body?

JJ Good answers from the group on this and thanks Larry for your comments on my books. I’ll add my two cents.

Part of the confusion comes from the fact that, in our society, the word “soul” is used very loosely with many different applications. Often times the astral body or even the etheric double is called the soul, but these are only vehicles and not soul.

Technically soul energy is that which is created through the interplay of spirit and matter, or the formless worlds and the worlds of form.

The term “the soul’ can refer to the Solar Angel but can have wider applications. It can refer to our consciousness ascending to soul contact, meaning that the consciousness centers on soul energy which opens the door to all worlds. When this door is open then the consciousness can be outside the body as you describe – or it can be within the body.

Every living being has a consciousness that it owes to soul energy and has a certain frequency. Through soul contact any individual can tune into the frequency of any other being. Sometimes we do this without realizing it.

Many times when people think they are contacting the dead when they are merely tuning into the person’s frequency. When an entity’s frequency is contacted then one can receive from such frequency – very similar information to that which he would receive from the real person.

For instance, a psychic could tune into Napoleon’s frequency and channel him even if he is reborn in the physical and in his new identity and frequency is communicating nothing to the medium. Even so his old frequency and identity remains embedded in soul essence.

There is no present or future, only the past, happening over and over again, now. – Eugene O’Neill
