True Opposites

True Opposites

Question: I was wondering how you define “opposite.” For example; would you say that the opposite of Love is Hate or is it No love?

Finding the opposite of a thing is fairly simple and somewhat cut and dried without a lot of mystery. I always try and use the general dictionary definition unless the right word cannot be found and then I will either create a new phrase or use an old word giving an expanded definition. Here are two dictionary definitions which express the general idea in human consciousness of the word “opposite.”

Two words that express opposing concepts.

Being the other of a pair that are corresponding or complementary in position, function, or nature (members of the opposite sex)

Either one of these works for me.

That said, what is the opposite of love?

A Course in Miracles makes the interesting statement that love has no opposite and that hate is not its opposite. It makes the point that hate is temporary and based on illusion whereas love is real and eternal.

This may be true when we consider the highest aspect of love, but not love as it is understood by general humanity.

Both love and hate, as it is understood by the masses, are lower manifestations of everlasting love. Lower love is in harmony with the higher octave and hate is out of sync with it. This corresponds to playing Middle C on a well-tuned piano and then playing it on one that is out of tune. It is the same note, but one is out of harmony.

This is why love and hate are so interconnected. We hate those most who we were first attracted to by passionate love.

As the world understands love, hate is indeed its opposite. Why? Because love is a magnetic force that pulls two people together and hate is an opposing force that separates them. The effect of the two fit very nicely into the definition of “opposite.”

Absence of love would not be the opposite of love because the opposite of love must repel. No love would exist between hate and love and would neither attract nor repel.

I would like to comment on one popular teaching that I see creates illusion and much confusion and it is this; that two opposites are really the same thing. For instance, some say that hot and cold are the same thing. The reason for this belief is that hot and cold are both created by vibrations or molecular movement.

But this is a common ingredient in both hot and cold, but a common ingredient does not create sameness.

For instance, a Porsche and a Ford both run on wheels, but that does not make them the same car.

Wheels and the engine both use circular motion, but that does not make them both the same.

A rock and a human body are both composed entirely of vibrations, but again, they are not the same.

All opposites have common ingredients but they are not the same.

The common ingredient of hot and cold is molecular motion. Hot has fast molecular motion and cold has slow, two entirely different things with entirely different effects.

Between hot and cold is a comfort zone (defined by the entity effected) which is neither hot nor cold. I would define this comfort zone as between 60 and 90 degrees F (15-32 degrees C). Anything over 30 degrees away from my comfort zone is certainly hot or cold and is definitely different to my perception.

If we were to go the sophist direction and maintain that opposites like hot and cold are the same because of a common ingredient then we would have to say that everything in the universe is the same and we would only need one word to sum everything up.

Since we need more than one word to communicate in this sphere then we need to recognize that differentiation exists and must be incorporated into our thinking if we are to remain sane.

Question: What makes hate less real compared to the other emotions? Why would it be any exception?

I never said hate was less real than the other emotions. All the emotions from the astral plane have a beginning and end and thus are not real from a higher point of view. They seem real to us and hate seems as real as the rest.

Higher love which does not originate in the emotional body is eternal as Paul says: “charity endureth forever.” Charity, of course, is a little bit of a mistranslation. The original Greek is love, love endures forever.

He was talking about the unselfish love that Christ brought, not the lower love. If lower love endured forever then we would have no divorce.

Question: Isn’t all love the same, Isn’t it just love?

To say that love is love, or all love is the same, indicates to me that you have only felt one of the octaves of love. When you experience the higher spiritual love and contrast it to the lower you will never again say that love is love or all the same.

Astral love (which is the highest love most people have experienced) and hate are a lower reflection of divine love. A reflection is reversed and not seen correctly. When the reflected love is distorted, it turns to negative emotion such as hate.

Consider the two great lights in our sky. The first is the Sun. This generates its own light and corresponds to divine love. The second is the moon. It does not generate any light, but reflects the real source of light. The reflection is much dimmer than the original.

Even so, the reflected love we see among general humanity is very dim when contrasted to the higher spiritual love that motivated Christ and other servants of humanity.

The absence of love often exists between love and hate. George falls crazy in love with Sally. After a year he grows bored and falls out of love. He neither loves or hates her but is in a zero state of astral love toward her. Then Sally sues him for all he has in a divorce and afterwards runs over his Harley Davidson with her car. Now he hates her with the same passion as he previously loved her. Zero love was between these two extremes.

Question: If one does not have love then wouldn’t he be hateful?

No. When George was in a state of no love, or neutrality, he neither loved nor hated Sally until she took vengeful action..

Comment: Just like with the absence of light, darkness must be present. You are saying the absence of light is not darkness. That does not make sense. Because darkness must be present if light is not.

Using your logic the opposite of heavy would be no weight. No weight is not its opposite, but light in weight is the opposite of heavy in weight. Neither are weightless or no weight.

We call the night dark but it is not completely dark for we still have the moon and the stars giving light. Even if one goes into a dark cave the atoms of the surrounding matter will still be giving off light invisible to our normal seeing.

In the day time there is also no ultimate light but a contrast of light and darkness.

Opposition as defined by the dictionary is created by finding the midway point and calibrating opposite points in the divergent directions.

Comment: Everything in the universe is a whole. I think that word you’re looking for is “God”.

I wasn’t looking for such a word for it does not exist. Saying the word “God” does not make everything in his creation the same. Saying God does not make hot, cold and cold, hot.

Question: Do we cease to exist during pralaya?

DK said it well when he said:

“All these mark the points for the disappearance of the unit into pralaya. We need here to remember that it is always pralaya when viewed from below. From the higher vision, that sees the subtler continuously overshadowing the dense when not in objective manifestation, pralaya is simply subjectivity, and is not that ‘which is not,’ but simply that which is esoteric.” Treatise on Cosmic Fire Pg 130

When all things are folded up we never have that “which is not” but “that which is esoteric.”

There are two correspondences to look at for understanding. The first is sleep.

Every day we have a mini pralaya when we go to bed. In sleep we have not disappeared into oblivion, but we have ascended to a higher plane. We still exist and are active on another plane. When we awake, we cannot remember all that went on because the activity was outside of the physical brain.

Even so, when the great rest occurs, we have a larger correspondence to sleep. There is not a condition of no existence, but an existence that is “esoteric” or hidden from that which is below.

The second correspondence to consider is the permanent atom as taught by DK. Each of us has a permanent atom for each of our bodies. This atom goes with us after we die and has all the programming of our past bodies of previous incarnations.

The physical universe also has a permanent atom with all the programming within it to create a new one better than the last. The last part of Book 4 of The Immortal illustrates this, but remember that this was a description of the physical plane and there are numerous higher planes, the next one up being the astral.

Light and love never completely disappear but always exist within the permanent atoms and within the subtle planes. The power of decision also always exists. As evidence of this is the realization that each creation is the result of this power operating behind the scenes.

A classic is something that everybody wants to have read and nobody wants to read. Mark Twain

The Sword of Truth

The Sword of Truth

“And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” Rev 19:15-16

“And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword…”

What is the sharp sword and why does it come out of the mouth of Christ?

Because the sword is a symbol, not just of speech or words, but the word of truth. There is nothing sharper and more penetrating than words of truth communicated with such clarity that they cannot be resisted or confounded.

These words of truth, or eternal words, are spoken by disciples of the Master who share consciousness with him, and thus the words of the disciple carry the same potency as the words of Christ.

Just as a powerful sword of a great warrior can overcome any foe, even so can words of truth which convey true principles, and destroy all the arguments of those in illusion to the confounding of all enemies.

“that with it he should smite the nations:”

Whether the words are spoken by the Master himself or his servants it matters not; but when the time comes that such words are released with freedom to circulate, then groups instead of just a few individuals will be affected. Eventually, entire nations will be reached and raised in consciousness. When this begins to happen, great conflict will ensue. Some of this will be on the physical plane but the coming focus will be on the astral, or emotional plane, with some reaching into mind and reason.

Truth is never in conflict with itself but greatly disturbs illusion; and from illusion and error arise many enemies to battle. These enemies only stand for a short moment, for after the sun rises their arguments will dissipate as the morning dew.

“and he shall rule them with a rod of iron:”

This almost sounds like the Master will rule with an iron fist as have many dictators of the past. Perhaps a misunderstanding of this scripture has inspired atrocities of the past such as the Conquistadors who fiercely ruled the American natives, and the Christian kings who ruled their people.

Will the gentle Christ or his servants rule with an iron fist then?

Not quite, but he will rule with a “rod of iron.”

The rod of iron and the sharp sword are the same – after all, a sword is a sharp rod of iron. This is a powerful way of telling us that in the coming age, those with the Christ consciousness will rule with the force of truth rather than lies, illusion and fear.

A ruler or teacher speaking the truth in an atmosphere of freedom will have a much more powerful hold on the people than a tyrant ever will. It is compared to iron because truth is the strongest force of all.

“and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.”

What is the symbolism of treading the winepress?

The regular winemaker of old pressed the grapes with his feet, which squeezed the juice into a lower trough to be made into a delicious wine. In this case, the grapes or fruit are the people of the nations containing a strange mixture of good and evil people of all sorts. Such a mixture must be attacked with the sharp sword of truth; and the attack must be with fierce and powerful feeling so as to cause the people to drink the wine or nectar of truth, leading to peace on earth, goodwill to men.

“And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”

First let us analyze the name which is, “King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.”

Why is this name associated with a Christed one? The simple answer is that he rules with the sharp sword of truth, and truth is the greatest authority in the universe. There is no king or Lord higher than truth. Therefore, he who is infused with the Spirit of Truth is lord of lords and king of kings because he who knows only truth is the ultimate king, authority and lord over his own universe.

He had a name written both on his vesture (clothing) as well as on his thigh. Why was it written two places?

The name on the clothing symbolizes recognition by the outer world of the truth he teaches, and the name on the thigh represents recognition by the disciple himself that he is one with God and thus has access to all truth. The disciple or servant must see himself as an extension of the mind of God before others will give him any outward recognition.

True inner intelligence is always followed by the unfolding of the outer.

The universal brotherhood of man is our most precious possession, what there is of it. Mark Twain (1835 – 1910)

Principles of Discovery, Part 15

Principles of Discovery, Part 15

Ask Questions

This seems to be a very simple principle of discovery, but you would be surprised at how overlooked it is, perhaps even with yourself. The problem with the discovery of truth is that if the seeker isn’t asking questions and seeking the answer to such questions he is not going to discover much.

I used to think that most people were like me and had a lot of questions they wanted answered but what brought home to me that most do not ask questions until some authority directs them to was an interesting experience.

In my younger days, when I was a bit naïve, I was teaching a Sunday School class. Part of the class was covering the Second Coming of Christ so I thought I would ask a question to the class of about 30 people. Here was the question:

“Let us suppose that the Second Coming had just occurred and Jesus himself was here and you were in his presence. You can ask him any question you desire. What would you ask?”

To my astonishment not one hand went up. There were several in the class I thought were quite spiritual and assumed they were curious like me, but their hands did not budge.

After a moment of uncomfortable silence, I picked on one of the more intelligent members. “Surely you would have something you would like to ask Jesus,” I said.

He was silent. He couldn’t think of anything.

Then I singled out a female who was a dedicated member of the church. “This would be the greatest opportunity people have had for 2000 years. Isn’t there anything you would ask him?”

She thought a moment and replied, “I suppose I could ask him how our family could improve on our Monday night family activities.”

I gazed on in astonishment. Here in a class of thirty or more people this was the only question anyone could think of. This was the beginning to a personal awakening for me as to how little curiosity there is among the rank and file.

So now I throw the question out to the group, who I hope are much more curious than orthodox religious people. Suppose you had a chance to talk with the Christ, God, a Master or higher being who had access to all the mysteries. Name three questions you would ask.

(We let this assignment sink in for a day)

Great questions. You are definitely several steps above the Sunday School class I mentioned.

Here are several questions I liked.

I’ll start with my favorite and in doing this I should in no way diminish any other question asked. There were many very good ones that we just will not have time to cover.

Here’s the one that gets the gold star.

Do you need my help, and if you do, what is the best way I can help?

The natural inclination is to take the opposite approach and ask God to help us and tell us about ourselves and tell us what to do.

This person comes up with the interesting question as to whether or not God, or the higher lives, need our help. Maybe they don’t need us, but if they do then what kind of help do they need? Is it possible that what they need from us is much different than we suppose?

What makes this question different is that most people would not even consider asking it. Why? Because many feel that God is beyond needing help of any kind. The reader questioned orthodoxy here and in doing this he is going against the grain, and going against the grain will lead to knowledge if a person is open and receptive.

Every life in the universe needs help from other lives higher and lower in some way. Seeking out another life and actually asking if help is needed will manifest the love of God.

His other two questions were also very good. I’ve written quite a bit about them, but one of these questions would make for a good audio presentation in the future.

How can I have your constant presence with me?

How can I tell if what I’m “hearing” inside from the spirit is my inner self, or the devilish self? Or, how can I be more “in tune” with the spirit, and know that it is the true spirit that’s communicating to me at that moment?

Here is another interesting question:

How is it possible that anything exists and why?

This is a question that is most mysterious in my mind. I would word it this way. “How is it that anything exists at all?” If only one rock existed in the whole universe it would be amazing and perplexing enough, but every possibility exists.

We know that something exists out there because we experience it. Descartes thought long and hard upon this and came up with Cogito, ergo sum or “I think therefore, I am.”

We know we are experiencing being here, and that there is such a thing as form, thought and existence, so our real questions must circulate around what we perceive to be reality. How the foundations of reality came to be is a thing I have never even seen an attempt to explain. Creation, yes. Many thinkers have attempted to explain this, but how existence, or God Itself came to be, is here is another thing.

I’ll end with this question. Why is the art of asking questions so important to the seeker? Why does it take an advanced consciousness to ask a question that leads to new knowledge?

Results of Attachment

Results of Attachment

I have previously stated this:

“Strong emotion such as love or hate, desire or repulsion, fear or protectiveness creates not karma, as we understand the term, but an energy link that will bring you into repeated contact with the person with whom you share such emotion. If such emotion carries with it any degree of attachment, then this person must be faced in relationship again and again, life after life, until you learn to let go of him and the emotion connected with the relationship.

“Even the lower octave of love creates this problem. Love from this angle would be defined as: “the desire to keep another in relationship because of what they do for you rather than what you can do for them as the prime motivator.

“This is why forgiveness is so important. If you hold a grievance and do not forgive, then that negative feeling creates a link that will draw that person back into your life until you do learn to forgive him on all levels.”

Question: What happens if I have moved on but others associated with me have not? Am I cursed to meet up with my ex-spouse again?

What happens then if you have a mean-spirited ex-spouse who is still attached to you, but you, on the other hand, have moved on and have tuned them out and are completely unattached?

In between lives when you are merged with your soul and planning your next life you will look at and consider the link of energy that he or she is sending toward you.

You may ask yourself:

This means she is going to enter my life in some way – how I am going to handle this energy she is sending my way?

Shall I take her as a wife again and attempt to guide the energy in a positive direction?

Am I crazy? No way!

Maybe I should accept her as a daughter. I can just see it now. When she misbehaves I’ll grab her and spank the dickens out of her and find myself enjoying meeting out the punishment. I’ll probably wonder if I am some sort of pervert for enjoying it so much.

Actually, accepting the attached person as a family member is a way the person often chooses to deal with the attached person. This explains why many complain so much about family. The unattached person will often choose this method as a way of helping the wayward soul without having to endure the misery they can cause through a close marital relationship.

Now suppose that you had such a bad relationship that you do not want the person as a spouse or a family member. You do not want to see them again ever!

If you feel very strongly about never seeing them again this is a subtle form of reverse attachment that will link you up with them once again. True detachment will cause you to mentally look at the energy the person is sending your way and to seek to direct it to harmlessness. The disciple always seeks to serve his fellow men even if they are irritating.

On the other hand, unless you have a debt of karma you have a right to keep your distance to the extent that this person will not bring you painful experiences.

So you look at the situation and see no value in taking the person in as a family member or spouse. You sense there is little you can do for their progress in the next life – that he needs to learn a few things without your help or interference – what then?

The obnoxious person still has his free will and may come cross your path in some way. He may be a neighbor, a classmate, a fellow worker, a student or just a person who stumbles across you and a bell rings in him stirring up the old feelings.

He or she will then have an attraction toward you that he cannot personally explain. He will then go after you seeking a closer relationship. When this happens your power of detachment will be tested to the hilt. If you yield against your better inner judgment, you will find yourself jumping into that misery you sought to avoid. If you deal with the person correctly, they will often move on and the energy link will dissipate. On the other hand, sometimes the person will become a fatal attraction and then you will have a major problem to deal with. In this case there is usually some residual karma to work out on your end.

A good possible example of this is the situation with Jodie Foster and John Hinkley Jr. It is quite possible that they had a past life link and Hinkley had a strong emotional attachment, but Jodie had moved on and was detached. When Hinkley saw Jodie on the screen the old feelings came back and he sought her out. She was wise enough to completely avoid him but he could not let go and became so destructive he attempted to assassinate a president just to get her attention.

Because Jodie had moved on, she did not have to endure a painful relationship with him and the harm he caused was entirely his responsibility and added to his karma and not hers. Her soul probably saw no way she could have reached out and helped him. Sometimes there is just nothing we can do to help another soul avoid a serious mistake. They often have to learn through their own painful experience.

In his next life Hinkley will probably be able to let Jodie go for he will have plenty to handle without concentrating on her.

All people come into our lives because their consciousness shares a certain note with our own consciousness. If you apply the principle of attrition and do not play the shared note with the irritating person then he will fade out of your life and not show up again.

This statement is very true concerning people with whom there is no major past life link. Attrition will prevent you from bringing additional problem people into your life.

If you have a strong past life link, but are unattached you will encounter them again, but if you wisely navigate you can avoid them bringing you unwanted grief.

Question: You say that the student and teacher who start in harmony together will (as a general rule) eventually have conflict. Could you elaborate on this?

You can see this principle playing out regularly in real life. Often two people marry feeling they are in great harmony, but a few years later they discover that there are many areas where they disagree to the point they cannot stand each other.

Two business partners at first see eye to eye but when the progression of the business reveals more details about each of them they soon have many conflicts with which to deal.

Unless both teacher and student have overcome glamour and illusion further progression will reveal personality differences which will lead to conflict. Then too, conflict usually follows when one or both of them are centered too much in the ego or glamors. If the teacher is wise and the student receptive the conflict can be resolved.

Some of my strongest supporters here have, in the past, been hit with teachings that have thrown them for a loop and have strongly disagreed with me. Fortunately, these situations have usually been synthesized and the relationship moved onward. Other times the student became disgruntled and went his own way.

Here is a statement from DK concerning a disgruntled student:

“It is with deep regret that I ask for your resignation from the group. If in later years you indicate to me a change of heart and a freedom from your present glamour, I will most gladly take you back into some group-though not into this one. I believe that you are prepared for this decision of mine. The reason for it is that I cannot any longer permit your group brothers to be hindered in their group work from your constantly recurring tendency to glamour. They have suffered with patience for many years, in order to give you the time to pierce through into the light, but the urgency of the times is such that all workers are needed and the group work must go forward.” Discipleship in the New Age, Vol 1, Page 616

Crowns of Glory

Crowns of Glory

“His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.” Rev 19:12

“His eyes were as a flame of fire…”

When the disciple comes face to face with the Christ within he sees through the eyes of the Spirit, as if his vision were powered by a spiritual fire. He is also aware of the flame of fire that proceeds from the crown of his head and links him to the world of Spirit. This link opens his eyes to vision by fire, the source of light, rather than light itself.

“…and on his head were many crowns;”

The many crowns symbolize many lives, many accomplishments, numerous initiations, many enemies defeated, many works of service and more. It especially symbolizes lives where the disciple accomplished what he was supposed to do which paved the way for greater accomplishment. The disciple now understands that the greatest kingdom over which he can rule is within, and he is a king with a kingdom greater than ruled by any outward king on the earth.

“…and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.”

There is disagreement among scholars whether this should be translated as “name” or “names.” Some think that the name would have been written on the crowns and thus there would have been a different name on each crown. Most think it is a singular name, known only to Christ.

Either way, both have meaning that presents the truth.

In each life (symbolized by a crown) the disciple has a different name. It is said that when one becomes a master he is shown all his past lives. When this happens to one near the end of his human evolution, he is aware of names of his past where victory was achieved. Instead of broadcasting to the world, saying “Hey guys, I was Elijah in a past life”, he will note whatever success he has had in the past and keep it to himself for his own purposes. Whenever you see a person telling you to follow and believe in him because he was a great one in the past, you should get out of his way and allow him to make a fool of himself – but don’t let him make a fool of you.

If we interpret the verse by using a singular name we find another true meaning hinted at in the next verse which says:

“and his name is called The Word of God.”

The literal phrase “the Word of God” is not the name which no other man knows, but is a realization. To hear preached to us that Christ or the Word of God dwells in us is a much different thing than realizing that we are truly one with Christ, or the Word of God. When this realization comes the disciple has a vision of the mission that he must accomplish. He is the only one who fully understands the mission, which is the true hidden name.

“And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.” Rev 19:13

The vesture dipped in blood symbolizes the pain, suffering and trials he has been through in all his lives to reach this point where he is now. And where is that? It is the realization of Christ in him and that he is one of the words of God made flesh, just as was his master, The Christ.

“And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.” Rev 19:14

Notice that the armies of heaven did not have vestures dipped in blood, but their garments were “white and clean.”

This tells us that the disciple has reached a level of consciousness where he can soon leave behind all the memories of pain and suffering of the world. Even so, for the moment he has a mission to fulfill that uses all the resources of heaven as well as earth within him. Pure thoughts and intent from heaven follow him as he goes to battle to move forward the will of God. The white horses symbolize the wisdom of the Spirit which will accompany him to battle – a wisdom that no man grounded upon the earth or leaning upon the power of the Beast can stand against.

Here are the next verses to contemplate:

“And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

“And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” Revelation 19:15-16

“Down from the mountain top I come, bringing the light of Life, the life of Light. Into the chalice of the form I pour that light which life confers, this life which light sustains. I see this golden light transform the darkness into day. I see the blue of life divine pour through the form, healing and soothing. Thus is the task performed. Thus is a man of earth transformed into a Son of God.” Discipleship in the New Age, Vol 1, Page 460

Sensible Seeds

Sensible Seeds

A reader has a question on these two previous statements I have made:

[1] If a teaching just seems to make no sense do not trust it until it does make sense.

[2] Plant a seed thought in your mind and heart, and feed this thought with contemplation and meditation. Observe the fruit that comes forth, and accept that which is sweet and registers with your soul.

Question: Should we plant a thought or teaching then if it makes no sense?

It would be a waste of time to plant seeds that your common sense definitely tells you are wrong or non-sensible. For one thing it could not even be impartially planted. For instance, you could not give a good planting or fair trial to the idea that the moon is made of green cheese for this is entirely unbelievable and to plant the seed takes an experiment in belief.

What kind of things can we plant then?

Often in life we come across a crossroads of belief. There are two things that could be true and you’re not sure which, if either, is true. Either belief could make sense but you do not have enough knowledge to confirm.

A popular one is whether or not there is a God. Many arguments have been made on both sides. Now you cannot prove a negative such as atheism but you could experiment with planting a belief in God. Plant the belief and act for a while as if it were true and see what grows within you.

Then if you receive a positive on this you can go further by choosing a number of alternatives with which to experiment such as:

Is God a composite being of which I am a part, or a single individual who sits upon a throne?

Is God more like the Old Testament Jehovah who orders women, children and gays killed when it suits him or a God of love as taught by Jesus?

Is Jesus the God of the Universe?

Is Jesus a special creation or is he a brother just more advanced than the rest of us?

Will those who believe in Buddha have the same chances of salvation as a Christian?

Did Bush make the right decision in invading Iraq?

I threw that last one in to illustrate the importance of an impartial mind in getting results. Obviously, if you already have a strong opinion the seed is not going to get properly planted. In order for this principle to work one has to have an open mind to the possibility that either side of the equation could be correct. If the seeker cannot apply this principle with an open mind, it would be a waste of time to use it.

A reader makes a good point we should not reject any idea out of hand because our internal reaction may be negative. Yes, we should always be open to all possibilities, but to effectively plant a seed as noted in this principle of discovery the idea must be credible enough to at least temporarily consider it.

Question: Is this a true statement: The Christ cannot reappear down here on Earth, until the Lights manifest him to reappear.

An important point to realize within the overall picture is that he who is the representative of the Christ energy for this earth, the one who appeared through Jesus, is an individual entity with free will just as you and I are. He is merely further along on the path.

He can decide to appear wherever he wants, but, all indications are that he wants to appear when the opportunity is right.

Think of a parent deciding when he will visit his kid’s class at school. If the kid is invoking his father by requesting again and again that he come at a certain time then the probability of him appearing at that time may be fairly high. On the other hand, the parent may decide to come when the kid is not expecting it and appear at a completely unexpected time.

DK tells us that the Christ is waiting for the world to acquire a little political stability before he comes so he can work more productively. There also has to be a significant number of people ready to receive what he has to offer.

“Each Pilgrim on the Road must carry with him what he needs: a pot of fire, to warm his fellowmen; a lamp, to cast its rays upon his heart and show his fellowmen the nature of his hidden life; a purse of gold, which he scatters not upon the Road, but shares with others; a sealed vase, wherein he carries all his aspiration to cast before the feet of Him Who waits to greet him at the gate.” Glamour, A World Problem, Page 51

The Grand Revelation

The Grand Revelation

“And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.” Revelation 19:11

This is the climatic point within the book and the life of the disciple as well as his Master. The day finally arrives that the conquering Christ appears to right the wrongs of the world.

Standard interpretation tells us that this is the traditional Second Coming of Christ in the clouds of heaven. One day all mankind will look heavenward and see Jesus and his angels lighting up the sky coming to save the righteous and burn the wicked.

But is this the true meaning?

Not quite.

This coming of Christ is written in symbolic writing and those who try to apply a literal meaning to this and other scriptures in Revelations will be consistently wrong.

What is the meaning then?

Let us take a closer look.

”And I saw heaven opened…”

First, it is important to remember that this appearance of Christ represents the Bridegroom appearing to marry and defend his bride (Israel, the saints, true disciples, purified lower self, etc).

Before the disciple can see the Christ, he must do more than to merely look toward a physical sky. The heavens must be open. In other words, the disciple must be elevated in consciousness until he becomes one with God. Jesus spoke of this goal for disciples in these words:

“That they (disciples) all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one.” John 17:21-23

When the disciple realizes that the most important coming of his Lord is within then “the heavens open” and he sees that he and Christ are one. Not only this but he realizes that the Christ and the Father are one which means that he and the Father are one also.

Then the revelation comes:

”…and behold a white horse”

Earlier we interpreted the meaning of the four horses of the Apocalypse as representing intelligence manifesting through the lower self of quaternary.

The white horse here is different than the lower white horse of chapter six. The white horse there represented the Christ consciousness manifesting through the intelligence of the lower self. This white horse represents the intelligence of Christ manifesting without the restriction of the lower forces pulling it downward. In other words, the disciple progresses from living in the world, but not of the world to living in the God consciousness and focusing there without being distracted by the pull of the world.

”and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True,”

Whereas the white horse represents the knowledge and wisdom of Christ, he who rides the horse is a Master of great wisdom and knowledge.

When the disciple breaks through and becomes one with the Christ consciousness he taps into the Oneness Principle, the minds of the holy ones of the past and the knowledge of all principles becomes available to him. He uses this knowledge skillfully, as does the rider of a fine white horse. This is hinted at in the following scripture:

“But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect.” Hebrews 12:22-23

There are two important qualities one must have to be one with Christ. He must be “Faithful” and “True.”

In other words, to tread the path to be a Master of Wisdom one must be a person who can be trusted and relied upon (Faithful) and his word must be his bond (True). That which he speaks must be true and that which he promises must be fulfilled.

Verse 11 then ends with this curious statement:

”…and in righteousness he doth judge and make war”.

Why do I call this curious? Because it presents an idea in total opposition to the preaching of many of the religious people about Christ.

They call him the “Prince of Peace” and proclaim that the Messiah would never support any war. In fact, most of the peace activists say they are attempting to be like Christ in opposing all war.

But here the scripture presents a different Christ than the common notion concerning the gentile Jesus. We are told that Christ will actually “make war.” But there is a qualification here. If he does make war, or judge, he will do so “in righteousness.”

Most wars in our history have not been fought in righteousness, but there are several upon which there is fairly united agreement that right use (righteousness) was made of war.

The first would be the American Civil War that ended with the freeing of the slaves and the second was World War II with the necessary defeat of Nazism.

Would Christ have supported such wars? According to the scripture, if they were just and right then he would have.

If we look only to physical wars, we are missing most of the meaning of this scripture. The Christ in us will in righteousness make other just wars. Here are a few.

[1] He will make war on the plane of the mind on ignorance and fight boldly for the establishment of truth

[2] He will make war on separateness, hatred and bigotry by seeking to love, accept and include as much as possible, but then chase the moneychangers out of the temple when all else fails.

[3] He will fight injustice wherever it appears

[4] He will fight for the freedom of the human spirit on all planes whether it be physical, emotional or mental.

[5] He will fight hypocrisy wherever it shows its deceptive head.

Indeed, wherever a dominating good needs a foothold established upon the earth the spirit of Christ will be there fighting in righteousness.

“Upon that Road one wanders not alone. There is no rush, no hurry. And yet there is no time to lose. Each pilgrim, knowing this, presses his footsteps forward, and finds himself surrounded by his fellowmen. Some move ahead; he follows after. Some move behind; he sets the pace. He travels not alone.” Glamour, A  World Problem, Page 51
