The Gathering of Lights
“And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;” Rev 19:17
“And I saw an angel standing in the sun;”
The angel standing in the sun is a messenger (or messengers) who stands in the soul with the mind focused, immovable in the light – with the consciousness of Christ through the oneness principle.
“and he cried with a loud voice”
It is interesting that “loud” comes from the Greek MEGAS and “voice” comes from “PHONE.” It doesn’t take much imagination to figure out where the word “megaphone” came from.
Actually, MEGAS does not necessarily mean loud, but in a context like this could be more aptly translated as “great, significant or profound.”
PHONE is often more accurately translated as “sound” and can imply a message.
We could translate the phrase as follows:
“and he intensely expressed a profound message.”
Now let us examine the next phrase:
“saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven,”
Here, fowls or birds signify seekers who are independent thinkers not subject to the unjust authority of the Beast. Heaven, as we have said, signifies higher consciousness.
The messenger who stands in the sun and receives a profound message through the soul calls to those independent souls who are not mentally enslaved by the Beast and gives forth a profound message:
“Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;”
The lights of the earth are in a scattered condition, and, with the coming of the Christ consciousness as well as the presence of Christ himself, there must be a call to these fowls of heaven to gather together.
Why are they to gather?
They are to gather “unto the supper of the great God;”
What is the supper of the great God?
To understand the need for the supper we must go back to a prophesy from the Old Testament. It reads:
“Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.” Amos 8:11-12
For the true seekers of the earth there has been a famine in the land, a famine of words of light. It is also a famine of freedom of the human spirit to teach and learn without the interference of the Beast seeking to control them, and a famine of spiritual substance and soul contact that feeds the inner self.
Revelation tells us that the famine will soon be over and the independent souls of the earth will be called to gather together so they can enjoy a spiritual feast.
What will happen at the spiritual feast?
“That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.” Rev 19:18
What kind of spiritual feast is it with the lights of the earth eating the flesh of men and beast?
To understand, we must discover who these entities are that provide the meat for the feast. It is revealed in the next verse:
“And I saw the Beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.” Rev 19:19
When the lights gather together, the Beast, or the authorities of the earth, will gather together to make war against them and seek to destroy the message and teachings they espouse. Above all, the Beast will seek to put an end to the lights thinking for themselves and taking their inner souls for their guide, rather than outer appointed authorities.
When the lights finally successfully gather, their combined light will be so great that this time the darkness of the Beast will be overcome and the sword of truth will fall upon all who love darkness rather than light.
When the sword of truth gains the needed strength and falls upon the Beast and his minions, the great feast will take place and the lights will “eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men…”
The flesh of the agents of the Beast is that illusionary substance upon which the deceived people lean for strength. Leaning upon such is called in the scriptures “leaning on the arm of flesh.” The scriptures continually emphasize the need for disciples to lean on the arm of Spirit rather than the earthly authority of outward men of flesh and bones.
The flesh of kings is the excuse people use to obey those who take the place of God. These prophets and priests tell them what the word of God is – which is, of course, their own words.
The “captains” are non-religious leaders with great authority who control people unjustly by the power of their position. These are politicians and government leaders.
The flesh of “mighty men” are people who have authority given them because of their status. Some of these are Nobel Prize winners, Oscar winners, famous authors, movie stars and media personalities.
The lights of the earth will show that the wisdom of the inner God is greater than the wisdom of the world and thus will consume their flesh.
The last to be consumed: “the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.”
The horses represent the combined wisdom of the world as gained without the aid of Spirit and soul. Those who sit upon them are the intelligentsia of the world, respected for their positions, papers and credentials. The rest mentioned are the rank and file who follow the authorities of the Beast without questioning. They may think they are independent because they question those who their authorities give them permission to question, but they do not question their own authorities.
The sword of truth from the lights of the earth – those who receive their authority through the soul within – will thus fall upon all the agents of the Beast, and all their delusions of darkness will be consumed by a great light. The temporary life that animated the flesh of the agents of the Beast will die…and their flesh, or substance, will be consumed and have power no more.
