The Light of the World
I noticed we are still getting comments on the first seed thought. This is good and illustrates the value of sustained reflection upon a thought. A day or so may not be enough to do a seed thought justice, but it serves our learning purposes.
Today’s Seed Thought:
“I am the light of the world.”
What comes to you as you think on this my friends?
Let’s see what questions can we ask here. We’ve already defined light so that is not necessary.
Let’s look at the first two words which are “I am.”
Should they be written as I AM or perhaps Jesus was even thinking of I AM BECOMING? Was Jesus referring to the God presence which is within us all?
When he told us to be one with him as he is one with his Father was this not an invitation for us to also become lights to the world?
Is it not interesting that he not only declared himself to be the light of the world but also said to his disciples: “Ye are the light of the world.” Mat 5:14
What does he mean by world? The word comes from KOSMOS which implies the current system or order of things.
How else can we translate thus verse:
Here is a possibility:
“That which is BECOMING within me reveals light and truth within the current order or the world.”
If you are a light to the world and light is produced by contrast would this not indicate that you should live a life that appears in sharp contrast to average Joe six pack?
If a person’s greatest pleasure in life comes from suffering then suffering would become the object of his personal desire.
In my experience with the Christ consciousness I have found no pain or suffering there, but only indescribable joy.
The seed thought under consideration:
“I am the light of the world.”
The few comments on the current seed thought have illustrated the value of the principle for they have indeed revealed light on the words.
When you get into seed thoughts you will generally have the sense that you have not yet uncovered all there is to be revealed. You can have a seed thought in the back of your mind for 20 years and then one day you will be driving down the road thinking of nothing in particular when a flash of inspiration will come to you about the thought. Sometimes when this happens you will feel like slapping yourself on the side of the head and say” “why didn’t I see this earlier?”
So, if it seems as if you’ve tried contemplating a seed thought and nothing much has happened do not give up. Continue with the process and soon impressions will come.
Remember that when you plant a seed and nourish it, nothing much happens at first. For a period of time it just sits there in silent darkness with no apparent results. But as long as the nutrition is sustained the time shortly comes that life springs forth and the seed sprouts forth its leafs through the barriers of dark and earth into the light of day.
Seed Though #3
“I am the dominating good in the hands of God.”
This principle of discovery comes in handy here:
“Take that belief which is embraced by the world (or the obvious view) and look in the opposite direction. In this opposite direction much truth lies hidden.”
One must always look in the opposite direction than seems obvious. If there is any flaw in the teaching much will be revealed.
Another thing the student can do to milk truth out of seed thoughts is to free associate and then link the items and see what truth comes forth. Use whatever questions that are helpful in the process.
Let us start with the first word which is “I.”
I – male/female – human being – part of the human race – one with the human race – on this planet – on many planets – throughout the universe.
Second word “am.”
Am – AM – I AM – I AM BECOMING – AM – Life – presence – God presence – omni presence.
Dominating – stronger of two forces – Dominating what? -… Good – that which evolves to higher ground – order – happiness – joy – Light – Love… Evil – that which takes us to retrogression – disorder – misery – darkness – hate – grievance.
Dominating Good – In higher order is strength; disorder is chaos and weakness in the long run.
Hands of God – that which works out the Plan of God.
Now continue to go through this process in your own mind and tell us some of the things you come up with when you think of:
“I am the dominating good in the hands of God.”
Every religion has their inspired teachings, but every time, without exception in the history of the world, that those teachings are taken too literally disappointment always follows. As was pointed out, the literal Jews really missed the mark in predicting the coming of Christ.
Joseph Smith predicted the gathering in Missouri and the coming of Christ to the temple there within a generation. This did not occur even though the brotherhood gave it good chance at the time the prophecy was made.
No prophet in history has ever made clearly understandable predictions of the future that came 100% literally true. Not even Jesus. For each prophecy he made there are a dozen interpretations. To find the truth one must throw out all of what the scriptures call “the traditions of man,” become as a little child and run all teachings by the soul with an open mind.
Today’s seed thought:
“I am the dominating good in the hands of God.”
We’ve basically covered all the methods of expanding a seed thought except for two.
The first is the examining the actual sounds within the words of the seed thought, but this is a vast subject and will not be covered at this time.
The final principle in finding truth in seed thoughts is actually the next principle of discovery which is:
Understand and develop the principle of intuition through which quantums of truth can be downloaded into your mind and understood by the heart.
Question. What is intuition from an esoteric point of view? What is the difference between instinct, emotional impulse, psychic impression, imagination, the still small voice and intuition? Is soul contact essential before the power of intuition comes into play?
