My Friends

Some newer members who have read the book and joined the list have expressed a desire to help in one way or another, so I thought I would mention a few things.

At present, we are laying the foundation for a work to come. Foundation work is often more nuts and bolts than the glamorous, fun stuff. Nevertheless, if one is motivated through the soul all work that brings progress, even the boring stuff, will bring a great internal peace and sense of purpose.

If you wish to play a part in promoting the teachings here are some avenues of service.

The greatest need at present is still to promote the book - The Immortal. So far we have only scratched the surface of distribution, but when a bookstore picks it up it usually sells very well, especially when they give away the free Book Ones that we have available.

If you are visiting any bookstores that sell metaphysical books, you might consider telling the manager about the book. Also mention that we would be happy to send them a free book with ordering information.

Beyond this, if you know of any bookstores or shops that sell metaphysical books in your area, it would be helpful if you could send me their names and addresses. We will them add then to our bookstore mailing list and send them information.

As most of you know, we have printed up the entire text of Book I in economical booklet form and we distribute these free of charge. The advantage of giving these out is that a high percentage of those who read Book I will come back to us and purchase the red book, which contains both books I and II.

You can also be a big help in promoting the book by passing out copies of Book I to friends and any others who you think may be interested. We, in turn, will make it easy for you by supplying you with free Book I's. Just send me as private e-mail and let me know how many Book I's you can pass out, and we will send you them free within the United States. Outside of the United States we will only charge you the actual postage. This usually runs $9.00 for about 18 copies.

When the time comes that the book sales are high enough I will then be able to quit my business and do more promotion myself by doing such things as seminars, lectures and working with the media. This will give me a chance to visit and work with many of you in person.

A second major present line of endeavor is this list. I have deemed this group of enough import that I have delayed the writing of Book III of the Immortal, in order to dedicate my small amount of free time to this list. It is true we are not large in numbers but we have a great foundation of over 200 of the most interesting and intelligent people on the planet.

An obvious goal with the list is to bring in new members. Each of us can go through our e-mail address books and pick out people we think may be interested in this learning situation and invite then to join. If they express interest also mention to them about the free book we have at: http://www.freeread.com In addition to Book One of The Immortal we also have links to thousands of other free books.

Another thing you can do to help is to post to the list. Many of you are doing this now and because of this we have one of the most interesting places on the web. In addition, I also encourage lurkers to post once in a while. I know all the "regulars" enjoy hearing from new people.

In connection with the list another thing to consider is the quality and friendliness of our posts. It is fine to disagree with me or anyone else on the list, but let us endeavor to treat all members as friends. I disagree with my friend Wayne on a regular basis when we meet together for breakfast, but we never insult each other and always depart in the spirit of friendship.

Even so here, if we should disagree let us disagree in a spirit of discovery rather than insult or confrontation. Let us present facts and reason rather than use innuendo. Let us present our case from the plane of the mind and if we use any emotion let it be the feeling of love and understanding.

We must accept that any time you get two or more people exchanging ideas together there will be some illusion and error contained therein. Now with a list of over 200 I am sure that there are glamours, errors and illusions posted on a daily basis. What are we to do?

I'll tell you one thing we should not do and that is to accuse them of being in league with the devil. If we feel their illusion needs exposed then we can post our own thoughts with kindness and reason. Anything more than this leads to a greater negative than the one we are trying to correct.

I believe that I have generally set a good example in how to handle those who may disagree with me. Because I have tried to treat all with kindness while presenting my case, some who seemed at odds with me in the beginning are now much friendlier and accepting. Some believe that I handle challenges too strongly and others not strongly enough. None of us will ever please all the people all the time, but we can live such a life that no complaint accusing us of rudeness will be justified.

Darkness is dispelled by shining a light on the problem, not by casting additional darkness on its path. Light is truth and darkness is attack, illusion and lack of love.

Another ongoing project is being headed up by Rick. He is editing and archiving all the postings of interest since the beginning of the list. It's a big job and he's always looking for volunteers, so if you have any free time send him a personal e-mail and he'll put you to work.

A fourth line of service is to begin a study class in your area where you will gather live bodies to discuss many of the teachings given here to the list. We suggest you call such gatherings Synthesis Groups.

Glenys, Anni and John W have these going now. If you are interested in getting their ideas for starting a group in your area, send them an e-mail.

If you feel that none of these areas of service are attractive to you then commune with your own soul and seek to initiate some good cause that will either teach those seeking for light or to provide some other good service.

Remember, an initiate is one who initiates. Therefore, if you are seeking any approval or recognition from the Brotherhood of Light you must go into the world and either initiate, or help to initiate, a good cause.

Again let me thank all of you for your participation. I know that many of your postings deserve my comment and may seem to be ignored because of my lack of time. Many of the best posts receive no comment from me because the point is often stated so well that I feel nothing else needs to be said.

If you should post a question that you want me to answer and I have not answered it after about a week, feel free to ask it again. Some times I plan on answering certain questions and lose track of them. One thing that will help as far as questions go is to try and keep them on the subject at hand.
