JJ:

I do not fly the flag or place political signs in my yard but respect those who do so. I'm always happy to see "Old Glory" flying anywhere a property owner is willing to place it.

After 911 people started flying the flag in their yards, their cars and as a pin on their clothes. This seemed like a good thing to all for a few weeks. Then the lefties surfaced and showed their true colors. They started criticizing everyone who displayed the flag as being false patriots. [Comedian] Bill Maher was typical of many. He made fun of people who flew flags on their cars calling them stupid because the flags created some drag and would cause them to burn more gas. Well, I think his statement was the one that was stupid. If it costs a couple pennies to fly a flag then I'd say that was money well spent.

I don't know how many times I have seen lefties criticize people for displaying the flag as false or mislead patriots. I think that is about as small minded as you can get as the vast majority are making a sincere statement of support for their country and there's nothing wrong with that and much that is right.

"Cap-and-trade" [energy and/or environmental program and/or policy] is a losing proposition even if one accepts the orthodox version of man made global warming. All research shows that the cost will far outweigh the benefits of all but a few such as Al Gore who's company stands top make billions off the deal.

"Cap-and-trade" is just a creative way for Obama to tax the poor that he claims to champion.

(Response to a comment on high school boys dressing in bikinis like girls in a car wash. They were shut down by school authorities.)

I think those boys should have been given a "A" in business for coming up with a creative idea that works. Must have been some Obama voters on the staff that were so uptight as to censor them.

If these boys do not get the initiative completely knocked out of their system by do-gooders they are likely to forge ahead and become successful businessmen and make millions.

Then they will have to listen to the Left complaining that they are succeeding on the backs of the poor, and need to pay more taxes.

Yeah, right. What are the chances of right wing nuts being in charge of the Meridian School district?

Not much.

I'd still bet Obama voters are in control. It's the Right that is always being unjustly charged with being intolerant but when it comes to the real world the intolerance is mostly played out by the Left.

It's the Democrats that stereotype Republicans as thumping their Bibles and claiming sainthood. I've never seen this from any Republican as a means to get elected. It is the Democrats who are always claiming they have the better family values, just as Deangelo did at the end of his letter.

The worst he can do is maintain that some Republicans are not sexually pure. Big deal. I read that about 50% of Congress are not faithful to their spouses.

Much more egregious was [Former Louisiana US House Of Representative, Democrat] William Jefferson getting caught with $90,000 in bribe money in his freezer or [the 19th United States National Security Advisor, under President Bill Clinton from 1997 to 2001, Samuel Richard] "Sandy" Berger, stealing top secret papers or the rape accusation against [US President] Clinton by Anita Broadrick [or Broderick]. The latter has more evidence behind it than the assumption that [former Republican US Senator from Idaho, Larry Edwin] Craig was tapping his toe for the wrong reason.

Well, "Grandjester," at least you are rarely silent. (He supplied some quotes.)

What's "holier than thou" about those quotes? She is merely saying she is going to do the best she can. I would expect no less. She's not saying that Democrats do not do this or think the same thoughts at times.

Let me give you the ultimate "holier than thou" statement from the Left that makes the Right look like the paragon of humility:

"In a way Obama is standing above the country, above the world. He's sort of GOD. He's going to bring all different sides together."

I didn't move the bar, "Grandjester," I just asked for an "holier than thou" sounding quote and you can't provide one.

What in the world is holier than thou about believing in the "Providence of the Almighty"? Believing in God is not being "holier than thou," else the majority of Lefties are in that category also.

Here a quote from Washington:

"The cause of our common country calls us both to an active and dangerous duty; Divine Providence, which wisely orders the affairs of men, will enable us to discharge it with fidelity and success."

Lincoln:

"That this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom;" (Gettysburg Address)

"Having thus chosen our course, without guile and with pure purpose, let us renew our trust in God, and go forward without fear."

FDR [US President Franklin D. Roosevelt]:

"Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our Nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity. "With Thy blessing, we shall prevail over the unholy forces of our enemy."

According to you these three men were "holier than thou." Sad.

Wow. You really have to distort this to make it seem evil. Palin was not talking to a political group, but was speaking to her church and her message was that nothing else matters in the great hereafter if our heart is not right with God. Religious people of both parties believe this and they are not holier than thou for doing so.

GJ:

JJ:

Those are your words, not hers. Saying you are doing your best is not saying that God smiles on your actions. Another distortion.

GJ:

JJ:

I can't find any record of this. Is this another "fact' you made up?

GJ:

"And I can't help but notice your complete silence on the criminality of your Republicans."

JJ:

There are plenty of scoundrels on both sides. The main difference is that since the media is about 90% Democrat that they portray a Republican like Craig as tapping his foot as being worse than the rape charge against Clinton. In fact they buried the rape charge to the degree that many are not even aware of it. If Bush had been accused of rape with several witnesses coming forth to collaborate you can bet your grandmother's operation money that every last person would know about it.
