First let me thank you David for sharing your story. It was very interesting. No wonder you see the whole universe as a play being acted out. You must have at various times felt like an actor with a roll to play that was entertaining someone.

Quoting JJ from a previous message, David [DW] writes:

"'There is one problem with this correlation. Where is the audience? Who writes a play to be watched by himself alone? That would be no fun. [...]'"

DW then continues with:

"My answer to this comes from one of my personal out-of-body experiences which I know in a previous email you suggested I describe. So here is one.

"A particular journey happened when, to use your concept, I popped out of one of my 'complex puzzles.' I didn't know I had 'solved it' (I would say fulfilled/completed the experience) until I was outside of it - 'it' being wrestling physically and mentally with a mind/body difficulty. The OOB state is a result of this completion because to fully see a situation, one must see it's entirely and thus be outside it.

"When I 'popped,' I found myself on a stage in a giant rotunda. The audience was giving me a standing ovation. These where higher energy forms (I'll need to explain my energy system sometime but it's 49 levels from the beginning to end of a creative expression. Mortal humans on earth travel between levels 15-21) who were at least level 29 or higher beings."

JJ:

49 is a believable number for this sphere of existence as it is 7 times 7. This number keeps repeating itself in this universe.

Again quoting JJ from a previous message, DW writes:

"'What would be fun for God is to [...] plunge into a complicated universe that becomes an extremely complex puzzle from which to work himself out.'"

DW then writes:

"I agree completely and see no inconsistency. My generalization was without details so let me expand further.

"The broadway play has actors who perform. They consist of many beings of various energy levels who have responded to a casting call (some are chosen for major roles and most are 'extras' to fill in the background. The major parts correspond to your concept of Masters. They dominate the play. Jesus would be casted in a leading role having had a long career prior to this play (big screen movie is another possible analogy but that is outside the scope of this discussion). Lessor parts are less talented or less experienced actors. This corresponds with higher energy beings nevertheless existing and many levels of higher capacity.

"The 'Director' is a higher energy being capable of managing the entire program. This would correspond to The Father vs. The Son. Joseph Smith's King Follet Discourse talks about Jesus doing that which he saw his Father do in order to reach the state of his Father (again, highly simplified and needs much, much additional details).

"Each actor wants to increase their skills. This corresponds to how each being increases their capacity for further light and greater glory."

JJ:

In the whole scheme of things the "play idea" does not make a lot of sense because the universe is the one body of the One Great Life which has no audience. What you describe, however, makes some sense within the universe itself where we have an unlimited amount of interplay between the various grades of life. Shakespeare himself said that "All the world is a stage and the men and women in it merely players and each person in his time plays many parts."

That said, some people take this idea too literally to the extent that they believe that even Hitler was really a good guy and agreed beforehand to play the bad guy and kill millions of Jews and the Jews who suffered also volunteered for the part. Then after death Hitler and the Jews sang kumbaya together.

Let's face it, no one in their right mind would volunteer to be tortured or starved to death or watch helplessly on as their loved ones suffer. Many of the parts that are played here are not voluntary but we are plunged into undesirable situations because of karma. Hitler did not plan on creating the negative karma for himself that he materialized but was captured by illusion and played out the role that illusion lead him toward.

One of the reasons that life seems like a play to many is the sense that we are being watched by unseen beings. This makes it seem that we are actors on a stage performing for a host of watching beings from the unknown.

Even here the "play idea" breaks down somewhat because over 95% of any life is pretty boring and not worth watching whereas a play is written so every line is important and geared to having the whole thing watched to be understood.

Also, on this earth there are many who have nothing much of interest that would attract attention. I think I speak for many in saying that if I were in the spirit and able to watch whoever I wanted there would only be a few I would find interesting enough to watch.

I know in my own life I am watched now and then. There may be a guardian angel or two helping me to stay out of trouble and danger, but as far as watching me because it is an interesting thing to do I sense this happens just once in a while. I will add though that Higher Lives tune into lower lives and can be aware of them while doing other things, thus eliminating extreme boredom while maintaining awareness.

I had an experience once when I made a life changing decision that afterward I was made aware that many spiritual beings were watching me. It wasn't as if I was in a play though but more like I was in a giant arena. The decision was more important than I realized as numerous concourses of beings were cheering me on with great jubilation for the decision I had made. Because of this decision certain things were going to manifest in the future of the planet, but from their eyes it was as if the manifestation were already in the present.

I remember the episode of Star Trek you mention where Picard lived an entire life within a few minutes of normal time. This is indeed a possibility and from some spheres of existence a whole lifetime here would seem but a very short time.

DW:

"I'm standing in the rotunda and everyone is cheering wildly. With no memory, I'm confused as to what I'm doing there. Slowly I remembered that I had created a story and then jumped into the earth stage to play the part. I had completed an Oscar performance. Most especially where (remember the performance is what I had done in this earth life) I reached such a dark bottom of despair and depression (due to drug and other addictions) that I wished for death but had not the courage to take my own life. They REALLY applauded the courage of that performance (like how 'Burning Bed' turned Farrah Faucet from bimbo to serious actress with skills).

"I had entertained the audience. Note here my story differs from the play analogy. In a broadway play, a standing ovation for a good performance is expected. This was more like a movie theater audience that very seldom enjoys a movie so much that they stand and clap/cheer. The whole experience could have been a manifestation of a huge ego and inflated self-opinion but let me say here that few people go from being a highly successful multi-millionaire businessman to a homeless drug addict in the gutter. So there's that.

"Overtime, my memory of how I had set up the show returned. It was clear to me that a particular mortal life was preset in concept but not necessarily executed once the 'play' begins. Thus differing performances are possible.

"I believe that experience fully comports to what you described"

JJ:

I think your sense of being watched like you are an actor in a movie could indeed be real but most likely you are watched for two reasons:

  1. You have lived an interesting life.
  2. Successfully navigating your life to a good end will mean that many people will benefit. This fact draws the attention of "watching lives."

Overall, the purpose of life is very simple. It is about having an interesting experience, and if life becomes interesting enough the path of joy will be discovered.
