April 10, 2009 -- Post Number One

JJ:

Good letter "PDC."

Notice that when a Lefty attacks Rush they just call him an idiot or some name reflecting their own degree of enlightenment. They never accurately quote him and then attempt to refute him.

April 10, 2009 -- Post Number Two

JJ:

Wow "Grandjester," you summed up everything negative that can be said about Rush in one paragraph.

Is that all you got?

And even that is not that negative.

So, he dropped out of college to pursue his dream.

So did Bill Gates.

Will you attack him also?

So he didn't do that great in school.

Neither did Einstein.

So he got out of duty to Vietnam because of a physical problem.

So did I.

They refused to take me.

So he failed at some of his jobs.

Lincoln failed at almost everything he did until he became president.

So what if Rush has been divorced.

He's never said you should stay in a bad marriage and I certainly agree. Rush is not Dr. Laura.

Rush was addicted to a pain-killer because of unbearable back pain yet still overcame it.

I think that deserves some praise.

Not only that but he is totally deaf yet still maintains his standing as the top radio host of all time.

Now that is covered you'll have to attack his actual words.

What's that I hear?

Silence...

April 10, 2009 -- Post Number Three

JJ:

Concerning my last post where I challenged anyone to attack Rush's actual words rather than his perceived human frailties that all of us have.

The answer:

Silence after I made the post.

And now?

Still silence.

Why silence?

Answer:

No mental abilities possessed such as had by Rush. Or, perhaps no more mental abilities than as possessed by Donald Duck.

JJ:

I agree with Sarah 100%.

No more taxes on alcohol.

I'll go further and say no more taxes on anything.

We have enough.

And while we are at it, no more spending increases and no more borrowing.

Let's have spending decreases instead.

Mr. Pachero has a great idea in sending our bills to Obama.

We should also send them to Congress people who support the outrageous spending.

A similar message has been sent by many sending tea bags Congress to protest the taxes we will have to pay to pay off the stimulus.

The bags frightened our fearless leaders and protesters were limited to sending only the string attached to the bag.

Kinda looses the impact.

However, sending our bills does send a message.

I suppose that if one of our bills causes a member of Congress to have a heart attack we'll be banned from sending them.

JJ:

Ms. Chrisman thinks our immigration laws should not be enforced because it is disruptive to families.

I have news for her.

Any time any law is enforced and someone taken in custody it is difficult for the family involved.

When a burglar is arrested his wife and kids loose their main source of income.

Does this mean we should not enforce the laws concerning burglary?

The only way we can handle illegal immigration so families are not disrupted is to have no immigration laws and completely open borders.

Is this what we really want?

Otherwise, if any law remains and is broken and enforced -- this will disrupt families.

I'm sure Obama will come up with a big amnesty plan to gain more Democratic voters.

He will also eliminate or negate most immigration law. Get ready for a third world America.

JJ:

So, Mountain Home [Idaho] is happy it received $285,000 for an aquatic health facility.

I suppose they are.

I suppose I would be happy if they built a large recreational area in my neighborhood and gave me the key.

The hard fact is this:

Someone somewhere is happy with each earmark.

On the other hand, a much larger number could think of a better use for the money than the intention of the earmark.

If nothing else Congress could not spend the money and give us a tax break.

Earmarks need to be completely eliminated.

Every project should be approved by a vote of the Congress.

There are millions of wonderful ways to spend money we cannot afford.

There are also many things I could buy that would enhance my life, but break my bank.

The government needs to be as responsible as the "rank-and-file."

"CalvinJones" writes:

"Oh, BTW where are all of you ditto monkeys when it comes to protecting our northern border which is three times longer than the southern border and the primary entry point into this country by terrorist."

JJ:

You have difficulty with civil English don't you? Must be similar to Tourette Syndrome.

The last I checked there were not millions of Canadians crashing our borders illegally. There is only so much we can do so we need to start where the greatest problem is.

Duh...

JJ:

What's with the "smoking Nazis" in Eagle (Idaho)?

Hitler, who was also anti smoking, would have loved it. If a business person wants to allow smoking in his establishment then who are we to stop him?

If someone doesn't like it then for crying out loud just don't go in.

The amount of pollution you'd get just walking by would be less than the smell from the tofu from the anti smoking Nazi in the table next to you in a restaurant.

What's next?

Are they going to arrest us for not using deodorant -- or maybe for using it?

April 15, 2009 -- Post Number One

JJ:

To go from 24.75 percent unemployment in 1933 to 18.91 percent in 1938 was not much of an accomplishment considering the great amount of money spent.

Most of the other countries of the world who suffered from depression got out of it much faster and spent a lot less.

Germany had a thriving economy in 1938.

Where our unemployment rate dropped less than 6% from 1933-1938, Canada's dropped about 17%.

France only suffered for a couple years from The Depression and Japan glided through it.

Compared to how other nations dealt with the worldwide depression FDR [US President Franklin D. Roosevelt] should be graded with a "D."

He gets better marks, however for fighting World War Two.

April 15, 2009 -- Post Number Two

JJ:

It is a myth that the War got us out of the Depression.

Much of the labor force went to war and employment did go up but for the 80% who had jobs through the Depression quality of life went way down. There were shortages and rationing of:

Tires,
Cars,
Bicycles,
Gasoline,
Fuel Oil & Kerosene,
Solid Fuels,
Stoves,
Rubber Footwear,
Shoes,
Sugar,
Coffee,
Processed Foods,
Meats, canned fish,
Cheese, canned milk, fats.

In addition there was a housing shortage and many houses supported two families.

So, even though people had jobs, many were poorer than they were in 1933.

To have a job and not be able to buy what you want and need is not much different than not having a job.

If you believe the war brought recovery then we should do the same thing today and build a bunch of ships and sink them in the Pacific. That would bring recovery wouldn't it?

NOT.

The real recovery did not occur until after FDR's death and after the war.
