Re: Social Parable

I received this from another list on the Social Parable.

"Egads, what a motley crew! Tyrants, thugs, murderers, and thieves. Survival, power and primal satisfactions seem to be all they have going. I hope this is not purported to be a representative slice of humanity!"

JJ:

It is very representative of humanity. Have you ever studied history?

Tyranny, murder, selfishness and big egos are very common. Even today, with some progress, there are still many countries where people are tortured, imprisoned or killed just for not cooperating or speaking out.

There are only a small percentage of the people who can be harmless when under intense pressure or threat. It would be nice if people as a whole were more enlightened, but they are what they are and disciples always have to work with what is.

An enlightened leader can direct the consciousness of the people toward constructive ends if times are good, but if the stomachs or pocketbooks are empty they will turn on him on a dime.

Disciples will therefore often gather the lights out of the darkness and teach them. In this case the average consciousness can make for a workable and peaceable group even in times of difficulty.

Keep in mind that no one is perfect and every group will have many difficulties in reaching a peaceable stability.
