Perhaps a border along 10-20 percent would be effective. What would exactly be required could probably only be determined by some degree of trial and error."

Congress has approved the money for 700 miles of fence which would give us 35 percent additional coverage. They are dragging their feet on proceeding, but if they build this we can put your theory to the test. If the rest of the border stayed as it is after a partial fence is built then I would guess you could be correct, but my guess is that new roads, watering holes, etc., would be built so new crossings could be made without endangering life any more than now.

When I was in high school for a time I ran home about ten miles after school each evening. I think if I was young and ambitious I could make a hundred miles in most circumstances. I think few will ever have to walk the 100 miles. There is money in assisting illegals to cross the border and as long as this is the case transportation, roads, etc., will be available somewhere and an illegal can make it across without a life and death trek.

It would be nice if you are right for then a partial fence may be practical. One more thing in our arsenal is the minutemen who could help. So far they have been discouraged by the media and our own government, but if they were encouraged then quite a large volunteer force could be assembled.

As far as Ann Coulter goes I think this point needs to be stressed. She has been no more offensive than many of her opposite polarity. For some odd reason the left wing gets the transcripts of every word spoken by the right wing and combs over everything spoken or written with precision in search of something offensive or that can be used against them. I can't find any evidence of the right wing doing this, but if something the left wing does gets in circulation they will use it then.

Let us look at the left winger cited by Ann. Here are some quotes from Bill Maher.

"When Mitt Romney was growing up in the 1950s the Mormons taught black people could only get into heaven as slaves. Where do you get the moderate position on that? I'm interested to know how Mitt Romney is going to spin that."

Interview with Larry King March 12, 2007. He also made a similar comment on his show.

This is typical of many who attack from the left. They go a step beyond name calling and distort. Everyone familiar with Mormonism knows that it has never been the position of the church that the blacks will enter heaven as slaves. This is an outrageous statement.

Maher pretty much attacks all Christian religions. Here is what he says about Catholics:

"People waited in line for 24 hours to see the pope's body and when they got to see the pope they smelled worse than he did."

"For those who could not make the funeral, the Vatican has asked that in lieu of flowers, just stop touching your d---."

"American Catholics say we love the pope, he should be a saint but he is kind of full of s--- on everything we believe."

Then he doesn't quite leave the Christian Right alone either. He said this right after Falwell's death:

"I know you're not supposed to speak ill of the dead, but I think we can make an exception because speaking ill of the dead was kind of Jerry Falwell's hobby."

"Jim Bakker spells his name with two k's because three would be too obvious.""

"I do think Mel Gibson is anti-Semitic," Maher told radio host Don Imus. "So, by the way, is Tom DeLay. So, by the way, are all these Christian right people who pretend to be friends of Israel."

Then Maher accused Christian fundamentalists of befriending Israel only because, ultimately, they'd like to see Jews die.

All this is tame compared to what he says about Bush.

The question Ann Coulter raised was why could Maher and others say all kinds of outrageous things and receive a pass from the press, but when she mockingly imitates what they do they call her Cruella DeVille and want her banned from ever speaking again.

I'm not bringing up this point to give her a pass or to say because others do it then it's all right for her to do it. That is not the point. The point is the hypocrisy behind it all. The left is accorded free speech because about 90 percent of the media are on the left, but the right is greatly criticized if their words are harsh in any degree.

Injustice bothers me whether it is on the left or the right. I thought it was an outrage, for instance when they put the leftist Kevorkian in prison.

I also think it is an outrage when conservatives have to have dozens of bodyguards when they speak at college campuses whereas the extreme left can speak anywhere they want with little or no harassment or danger.

Since John brought up my list of initiates I thought it would be of interest to republish it here. I've added a couple.

Some of the living initiates on the right are:

Ann Coulter
Rush Limbaugh
Sean Hannity
Condoleezza Rice
George W Bush
Newt Gingrich
David Horowitz
Ward Connerly
Roger Ailes
Ted Nugent
Steve Forbes
Oliver North
Tommy Thompson
Benjamin Netanyahu
Mitt Romney

Near the Middle we have:

Bill O'Reilly
John Stossel
Mel Gibson
Dennis Miller
Arnold Schwarzenegger
Clint Eastwood
Colin Powell
Rudy Giuliani
Lech Walesa
Harry Wu (Civil Rights Activist)

On the Left we have:

Patrick Moore (founder of Greenpeace)
Steve Jobs
Bill Gates
Nelson Mandela
Steven Spielberg
George Lucas
Jane Fonda
Ted Turner
Gorbachev
Dr. Jack Kevorkian
Dan Brown - Author of the DaVinci Code
Barack Obama
Ralph Nader

These are not all 100 percent soul-infused by any means but are initiates of some degree.

If you do not like some on one side or another it means little. We need to realize that just as we fluctuate between male and female from life to life even so do we shift from left to right until after many lives we finally discover the point of truth in the Middle Way as taught in the Lost Key.

Some may wonder why Ann Coulter is an initiate and what she initiated. She has initiated in two different areas.

  1. She has been one of the main forces in creating enough demand so mainstream publishers are now publishing conservative thought.
  2. She has researched material that used to be somewhat underground and somewhat hard to get and brought it into the mainstream. Largely because of her many views on the right are available to counterbalance the views on the left that are readily available.

By the way I heard her speak in person a while back and afterwards gave her a copy of my book. Who knows, she might have burned it but I thought it was worth a try.
