"Fortunately, here at Keys, JJ allows the copyrighted material of others to be posted. I was reading at the C.M. (Carolyn Myss) website and the rules of her on-line discussion group do not allow the copyrighted material of others! I believe we definitely benefit from JJ's spirit of openness and acceptance. JJ, I am sure would speak up if he had any objections to the C.M. newsletter that I posted. (AND, I would want him to!!)"

I think I need to make our official policy clear here. We always try to follow the copyright laws and if any copyright material has been posted contrary to law it is without my knowledge.

There was no copyright notice on the CM article. If there was, the moderator shouldn't have approved it.

The copyright law allows for what they call "fair use." This means you can quote small parts of a copyrighted text -- several lines to make a point. If you use a significant amount of text that stands on its own then you need to get permission.

For instance, we posted an entire book a while back called "The Dream Mine." Since this was copyrighted, I obtained permission from the owners of the copyright first.

There are other writings in the public domain that we can freely quote from.

If any here see an interesting article and want to post more than a couple lines we request that you post a link to the document rather than posting it here. This will help keep us all legal and out of trouble.

Thanks.
