Rick and Sharon both have a different take on the source of Sharon's message. I love them both and will make no comment but will leave it to the group to take wisdom from both of them as it vibrates with their own souls.

I have seen a lot of bias in the media since I can remember paying attention to it, but it has gotten much worse over the last decade. Bias has always infuriated me no matter which side it comes from. One thing I admire about Rush Limbaugh (even though I disagree with him on a number of items) is he admits he is out to convert the world to his views. The major media, on the other hand, claims to be impartial, just giving us the unfiltered facts. This is a maddening claim when in many cases they are as zealous as Rush to convert us to their way of thinking. They are also prejudging Bush and his appointees, suggesting resignations before an investigation is done or we even know where the failures occurred in the chain of command.

It is true that during a major calamity the media may, for a short period, put away their bias and just report the news, but it is never long before the bias returns. In the case of Katrina it was the subtle finger pointing of conservatives as racists when they are no more racist than the liberals. In fact, one of the most liberal senators, Robert Byrd, used to be a member of the Klu Klux Klan and the major media gives him a complete pass on it because he is one of them in ideology.

Yet the overall Dutch crime rate is like the overall European rate significantly lower than the US rates. The main reasons are twofold: authorizing/owing guns, and a low priority for social and working programs for the poor and immigrants in the US.

I do not believe gun control has a lot to do with it. Here in Idaho almost every man and his dog has several guns. This just may be the most gun toten' people in the world yet our murder rate is only 2.9 per 100,000 which is much lower than Canada at 5.45, Denmark 5.17 and Germany at 4.20. This illustrates that it is the consciousness within that needs stimulated more than government controlling the circumstances without.

I admit that if government could confiscate almost every possible weapon, as Hitler did, then crime rate would go down, but at what cost? It is worth a little risk to have quality of life and freedom of choice, else why drive a car?

Do not be too moral. You may cheat yourself out of much life. Aim above morality. Be not simply good; be good for something.  Henry David Thoreau (1817 - 1862)
