Fish Oil

Previously, JJ said:

"To obtain this, it has to go through a fairly expensive process. It takes about 100 barrels of standard fish oil to make one barrel of pharmaceutical-grade fish oil. Now there are others who make it sound like they have a pharmaceutical-grade but instead they have removed some contaminates but have not reached the level of pharmaceutical-grade."

In response, Geoffrey wrote:

"This seems to me to be a grossly wasteful way of producing fish oil allowing 99 percent to be discarded.

"In this time of dwindling fish stocks in the oceans, there needs to be a more efficient way to clean fish oil of its impurities.

"Europe is talking of a complete fishing ban to replenish the sea with fish due to the shortage, so I do not agree with this 'health food'"

JJ:

None of the oil is wasted. The 99 barrels that are not usable are sold for Health Food Store processing. Sort of makes you wonder about the quality of some of the stuff sold there.

Fish oil is more of a by-product rather than a motivation for fishing.

I agree that ocean fishing needs to be regulated to insure their health and survival.

I wonder if the UK supports the ban. I don't know how they would live without fish and chips. That's a staple--like hamburgers in the USA

I called the company about their web site and it should be up again tomorrow.

Again that address is: http://www.searslabs.com
