White Magic -- Lesson One, Part 2

2001-6-13 10:13:00

Thank you Anni, for your help. I know you will do well here and the good part is that I know Anni really likes the AAB [Alice A. Bailey] books.

As we ask questions you might want to check the search engine for the Bailey books at:

http://www.lucistrust.org/en/publications_store/books_on_line

This can be a great asset in keeping up with the dialog.

We talk considerably about conscious channelers. This may be technically incorrect as a channeler is usually seen as a medium working in the trance state. A conscious channeler may be more accurately called a "conscious receiver of higher knowledge," but since this is an awkward phrase we'll continue to use the phrase "conscious channeler" in the text.

Also note that these excerpts from my classes will have a different flavor than my writings because we speak a little differently than we write.

With that said, let us now continue with the lesson.

Lesson One, Part 2:

JJ:

Someone in the class mentioned that H. P. Blavatsky was a conscious channeler.

Yes, Blavatsky was. Anybody else?

Audience:

"Helen Schueman, the one who channeled Jesus in 'A Course in Miracles'?"

JJ:

Right, the gal who channeled "A Course in Miracles" was a conscious channeler. The book was given with total cooperation. Any other books?

Audience:

"Ruth Montgomery."

JJ:

I think Ruth Montgomery channels unconsciously; she is not aware of the words that are coming. She sits at the typewriter and the spirits take control of her fingers. She is one of the highest unconscious channelers. I've read most of her books and found them interesting and easy reading. She brings out some information that is very useful but she doesn't bring forth any principles. We're going to talk about this as we progress; the difference between a principle and a fact. New principles are almost always given through a conscious channeler

One reason they have to be given through a conscious channeler is because of the karma of mankind. This karma limits us. It limits us so we don't have free intercourse with the Masters right at the moment. We don't see them coming and going, speaking on TV, disappearing from the halls of Congress, giving messages or this type of thing. They do not normally do this. Why not? It seems that it would be the easy thing to do, doesn't it? For them to just make some grand appearance before the United Nations or something like that.

They cannot do it because of our karma. Our karma is such that if they were to do such a thing they would be under a condemnation of their souls themselves. So the only way mankind can achieve information is if they earn it. The only way they can earn it is through the conscious channelers, the higher information that's given to mankind. In other words, a conscious channeler is someone who is in rapport or vibration with a Master (or some higher source) and is seeking greater light to the extent that if his heart is in it enough, he will be given it. In other words, he's following the injunction, "Seek and ye shall find, knock and it will be opened." This is what somebody on Earth has to do before a new revelation can be given.

The lady who wrote "A Course on Miracles" was an atheist. She was seeking very strongly in her heart to find a new revelation, new information, to establish a better relationship. In principle, "A Course in Miracles" is the best relationship book that's ever been written, a totally new light on principles. There is elaboration on principles on relationships in there that have never been given to mankind before. Very simple but true.

Considering the unconscious channelers I've ever read in my life, all the information that they teach has previously been given through the conscious channelers, except for things like facts. Sometimes they'll make a prediction on what will happen in two or three years from now, some of them are true and some of them are not, but as far as actual principles I have not seen new ones revealed through unconscious channelers.

As a matter of fact, in reading all the Alice A. Bailey books, I have found many of the unconscious channelers have borrowed information that is already in them. One lady I know of claims to be giving a new revelation every week and I swear all she does is read the Tibetan and summarize what He says. On the other hand, the Tibetan, through Alice A. Bailey, has given many things that are entirely new, that have never been given before.

Now if someone claims to have talked with a Master and has received a revelation from him -- that which he will reveal will be something that you cannot find in any book anyplace on the face of the Earth. It will be some new light that you won't find anywhere else. This is what you find in these books. Before the Bailey books were written, the information contained in them was not here on the Earth.

If the information is already here on Earth, readily available, a Master will not usually reveal and repeat it. He is too busy. If the information is here, it's our karma that we have to seek for what we're going to find. So if the information is here and it's in a book somewhere, it's our responsibility to find it, if that's the desire of our heart. But there will be new information given periodically. The Tibetan was not the last one. Since then there has been other books come forth. There will many yet to come. He explains that during the next 20 years from this point in time will be a period of revelation. There will be many revelations given. Then after the turn of the century, around 2525 he will pick another channel, who may even be Alice A Bailey reincarnated, (She died in the 1950s.) and speak to us again, giving us advanced teachings of the New Age. This will be the third installment from him.

The Bailey books were written with approval of the Christ and with concurrence of all the Hierarchy. They meet in conclave and discuss what is going to be given out to mankind. The Tibetan, like I say, is a messenger boy, a 260 year old messenger boy that was appointed to give out information.

Audience:

"At what point was "A Treatise On White Magic" written? Was it one of the earlier ones?"

JJ:

"A Treatise on White Magic" was one of the earlier writings. I think it was 1934 that it was copyrighted.

First thing I'm going to read to you from the Tibetan is a statement about himself:

Note:   Bracketed information is inserted for clarification and is not part of the quoted material.

"Suffice it to say that I am a Tibetan disciple of a certain degree." [He gave this statement out before His name and position and mission was revealed.] "And this tells you but little, for all are disciples from the humblest aspirant up to, and beyond the Christ Himself. I live in a physical body, like other men, on the borders of Tibet and at times, [from an exoteric standpoint] reside over a large group of Tibetan lamas, when my other duties permit. Is it this fact that has caused it to be reported that I am an abbot in this particular lamasery. Those associated with me in the work of the Hierarchy [and all true disciples are associated in this work] know me still be another name and office. AAB [Alice A. Bailey] knows who I am and recognizes me by two of my names.

"I am a brother of yours, who has traveled a little longer upon the Path than has the average student, and has therefore incurred greater responsibilities. I am one who has wrestled and fought his way into a greater measure of light than has the aspirant who will read this article, and I must therefore act as a transmitter of the light, no matter what the cost. I am not an old man, as age counts among teachers, yet I am not young or inexperienced. My work is to teach and spread the knowledge of the Ageless Wisdom wherever I can find a response, and I have been doing this for many years. I seek also to help the Master Morya and the Master Koot Hoomi whenever opportunity offers, for I have been long connected with Them and with Their work."  [Those were the Three Wise Men.]

"In all the above, I have told you much, yet at the same time I have told you nothing which would lead you to offer me that blind obedience and the foolish devotion which the emotional aspirant offers to the Guru and Master whom he is as yet unable to contact. Nor will he make that desired contact until he has transmuted emotional devotion into unselfish service to humanity--not to the Master.

"The books that I have written are sent out with no claim for their acceptance. They may or not be correct, true and useful. It is for you to ascertain their truth by right practice and by the exercise of intuition. Neither I nor AAB is the least interested in having them acclaimed as inspired writings, or in having anyone speak of them with bated breath as being the work of the Masters." [At this point no one knew yet that He was a Master.] "If they present truth in such a way that it follows sequentially upon that already offered in the world teachings, if the information given raises the aspiration and the will-to-serve from the plane of the emotions to that of the mind, the plane whereon the Masters can be found, then they will have served their purpose. If the teaching conveyed calls forth a response from the illumined mind of the worker in the world, and brings a flashing forth of his intuition, then let that teaching be accepted. But not otherwise. If the statements meet with eventual corroboration, or are deemed true under the test of the Law of Correspondences, then that is well and good. But should this not be so, let not the student accept what is said."

That's his introduction which is in all of AAB's books. This is one of the main things he points out. He doesn't want anyone to accept him because he's a Master or because he's in the Hierarchy. He says to read this material and see if it brings a flashing forth of intuition. See if it corroborates with world teachings given out by the Masters in the past -- the world scriptures. See if it fits the Law of Correspondences; if what you know to be true in one area corresponds with what you are given in another. If it all corresponds and if it strikes you as truth from within, go ahead and trust it. If it doesn't, don't worry about it, and don't trust it.

This is what we must do with everything we find; test it within ourselves. Within our souls is the capability of recognizing whether or not a thing is true. When a principle is spoken, you'll feel within yourself the vibration of certain chords that ring true.

One of the basic purposes of the Alice A. Bailey books is to prepare us for initiations. Does anyone know what an initiation is from the viewpoint of the Masters?

We'll pause here and throw this question out to the group along with the following:

In the past we have said that "an initiate is one who initiates." How does the development of the power to initiate prepare one for initiations?
